                  @StarGrapper: @StarGrapper,

Let me give you a hint on what I know and have learned.

Prior to 2003 / 2004, I got all my news from our TV and news papers, etc. then since 2003 / 2004 I did a lot of my own research met and spoke to people who have actually been there, I watched more, learned more. I know about the Irgun, the Hagana, the Stern Gang, the King David hotel, the U.S.S. Liberty, Haavara agreement, the Balfour deceleration, British police hung from tees, typhoid and animal carcasses in wells, and so on.

So much so, that as soon as I heard the news on the radio as I got ready for work on October 8 of 2023, I knew, I absolutely knew what was going to happen.

I hope that gives you some context of my understanding.

@Aus Falcon: well, i am a palestinian whose grandparents were kicked out of their house in Yafa which is now so called Tel Aviv back in 1948, and again in 1967 from Tulkarim which half of it was stolen and included in Tel Aviv, and my Grandma parents were kicked out of Yafa which is not the israeli navy base. i have a lot to share

Antisemtism has a clear definition, and it doesn't relate to who is or is not a semite…

          Words are funny things.

          • +1

@DogGunn: I always need to clarify with the person using the word, what is their definition / interpretation, that way we can be aligned in the conversation. My interpretation, the dictionary's definition, or my view on the qord means nothing if rhe person or people you're talking too dont see it exactly the same.

          • @DogGunn: can you please enlighten us what does it mean?? mr sherlock!

              • +1

@DogGunn: maybe this will help you better? since yours doesn't device semite meaning, because it translates the usage of it not the actual meaning of it. it is incorrectly used so educate your self.

in the following it explains that arabs are semite, and it is incorrectly used just to express what the nazis did back in 19's and 20's. seriously educate your self.. i beg you,, dont spread sh!t!!!

                https://www.oxfordreference.com/display/10.1093/oi/authority…

                • @StarGrapper: From your own definition…

Hostility towards and discrimination against Jewish people (although there are other Semitic peoples, notably the Arabs, anti‐Semitism is only used to refer to prejudice against Jewish people).

As I said, words are funny. Antisemtism refers only to prejudice against Jews. A word with a prefix does not always equal a word without it. Anti-semitism does not mean prejudice against all Semitic people.

Saying you cannot be anti-semitic because you are "more Semitic" than most Jews in Israel, is uh, interesting.

        • +2

Let's hope soon it shall be and for no more killing of innocents on either side.

        • -1

Educate yourself: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antisemitism does not mean "hostility towards semites".
Antisemites usually have a sub-100 IQ, so they find this concept difficult to grasp.

          • +2

@fredblogs: Anti-Virus, doesn't mean hostility towards viruses, it is against sunflowers.
Anti-bacterial doesnt mean hostility toward bacteria, it is against mosquitoes.
Anti-Israel doesn't mean hostility towards Israel, it is against pigs.
Anti-feminine, doesn't mean hostility towards female, it is against facebook marketplace.
Anti-semitic, doesn't mean hostility towards semites, it is against jewish people.

Semite definition is the people come from Sam who is the son of Noah, and this include the people of Middle east, Asia, and parts of north east Africa, who are red/brown in colour, or so called coloured people. so when we say anti-semite, it does NOT refer to religion, it refers to colour, or origin of people, or ancestors, however, Israel created the term to use it as a trump card to justify any hostility,

therefor, education is required to everyone, this INCLUDES the one saying (Educate your self), Wikipedia has a lot of wrong information, and cannot be taken as a trusted source, google it and educate your self. just like cambridge dictionary, which translates semite people as the jewish people, even though more than 90% of them are coloured different from semites, if i own power of control over internet, media, news, i can create new terms and use them for my own benifit, just like the term terrorist, anti-semite, islamophobia, preventative attack because we know they will attack us 3000 years later, promised 3000 years ago, Amalek, and way way more..

            • +2

@StarGrapper: You only discovering that words with prefixes don't necessarily have the obvious meaning is hilarious.

That you're trying to correct dictionary defined words is even funnier.

        • Report me, I'm more shark than a great white!

    • +4

Oh the irony. Zionist are the biggest antisemites

  • +1

Man Aussies need a break from Zionism, Louis Theroux is Jewish through his mother anyway.

    • +6

He's not Jewish, FYI. He addressed that.

      • -1

Anna Castle is not only Jewish but old money as well. Both his wives Jewish. All his children Jewish. Also a Nepo baby through his vastly more talented father.

    Yawn

    • +1

I found it quite interesting, did you actually watch it?

  • I already downloaded this for free years ago on torrents just like I did all his documentaries.

    • +2

Ahh it only came out recently.

      • Huh? It came out in 2011.

        • +4

The Settlers is a follow-up to the 2011 doco which is mentioned later in the deal.

  • +3

Does anyone know where or how to watch Gaza: Doctors Under Attack?

    • +2

I can send it to you, are you talking about the 14 paramedics murdered?

      • +4

No, there is an hour long documentary commissioned by the BBC originally called Gaza: Medics Under Fire (but now called Gaza: Doctors Under Attack) that the BBC held on to and eventually, gutlessly decided not to air it. So Channel 4 UK got the rights to it and aired it last night UK time.

      • +3

Someone has uploaded it to YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgQ6nb0QPIs

It will likely be taken down soon, so watch it while you can.

        • +2

there are 3 actually, if you search in youtube and filter last day, over 20min's, and by upload date, you'll have 3 links.

          great catch, thanks mate

    • +10

I don't know, but Israel just murdered the director of a hospital in Gaza ( with what looks like a precision bomb on his home from an F16 ).
      He was a cardiologist.

That's a terrible inconvenience for you.

If you click on a different link, you'll be back to buying trinkets in no time.

I hope can find a good deal that helps deal with the PTSD.

      • -3

Appreciate your support. Plenty of places on the interwebs to focus on everything thats wrong with the world, forgive me for not realising a website dedicated to offering deals on 'trinkets' was one of them.

Get yourself a faux fur to go with your faux winge.

    • +2

Great first world problem to have.

  • +13

Its a great documentary. I'm not anti Jewish (I have zero clue why people generalise anyone in any category) but these people's approach is wrong… same as the 'far right' of most nations.

It should be condemned, not because they are Jews, but because it's wrong.

    • +1

Exactly. Has nothing to do with being Jew, but rather a bunch of genocidal maniacs.

    • +3

      1000%

And Theroux typically makes accurate and thought provoking content so not sure why folks on here would have it out for him either.

  • When will this madness end!!

    Not a bargain.

    • +9

Hopefully when they recognise Palestinians as equals.

      • +4

        At least as humans

  • +10

Has anyone else noticed how a lot of the pro-zionist/ Hasbara commentators respond in a condescending tone and talk down with an air of superiority to those that are critical of Israel's actions e.g. "shut up you low IQ antisemite, you don't know what you're talking about".
And then fail to provide any factual evidence to counter what's been aimed at them.

    • +5

Edit: hahaha you reposted some twitter meme thinking it's real lmao

          • @DogGunn: The most frequently cited passages in this context are found in the book of Isaiah. Isaiah 14:1-2, in a prophecy concerning the downfall of Babylon and the restoration of Israel, states: "For the LORD will have compassion on Jacob and will again choose Israel and settle them in their own land, and strangers will join them and attach themselves to the house of Jacob. And the peoples will take them and bring them to their place, and the house of Israel will possess them in the land of the LORD as male and female slaves. They will take captive those who were their captors, and rule over those who oppressed them."

            • +3

@StarGrapper: To be clear, what the other user attempted to quote was not from the bible but from the talmud (not a holy book), and it was a completely memified version of the talmud.

But now you're attempting to justify their post (no doubt under the veil of anti-zionism) without acknowledging what was posted by the other user was completely made up. But you don't care about that, do you?

              • -3

@DogGunn: Nope I don't, because at every moment, every chance you Zionists keep changing your words, you are very smart with playing with words, talmoud now is wrong? Let's say it is, now what I wrote is not in the context and out of topic? You people want an answer tailored to your expectations, which you won't get, maybe 3000 years ago but not anymore.

Oh by the way, I am a proud person wearing the badge of anti-zionism. If that does bother you, that's good, if it doesn't, then why cry on public with playing the words game?

                • +4

@StarGrapper: Easy to have an argument when you can just make up what the other side said.

                  • +1

@Randolph Duke: easy for zionists to get away from a losing argument by saying same comment as yours.

                    • +1

@StarGrapper: You're doing the digital equivalent of sticking your fingers in your ears & shouting I CAN'T HEAR YOU.

                      …on a post about a free documentary…on a deals website (not Reddit or /pol/).

Screeching at everyone who questions anything, let alone disagrees & labelling them a zionist or insulting them, what's that achieve towards your goal?

                • @StarGrapper: What are you on about? I literally have no idea.

You don't even know my position on Zionism.

    • The irony of complaining about that but not giving an actual example of where someone said that.

    • Look up what Goyim means and that may explain it

  • +5

The only questions I have is what those Jewish settlers do for living. BBC reporter didn't question them about that. It look like they receive free money and their only job is to make babies and read those old script what has no value .. OMG easier than anything else in life :-).

    • +2

Louis questioned the rental situation of the honey house and was shut down pretty quickly. Its obvious they are incentivised to live there, who knows though, most of the world does wfh these days.

    • +4

If Israel cared about the hostages, they would've made a deal. But they don't. They're just an excuse.

      • -5

They care about the hostages, but they care about Hamas surrendering more.

        • +4

I've seen zero evidence that the government gives one iota about the hostages. Hey they even killed 3 hostages when they were waving a white flag and yelling in Hebrew.

          • -1

@DogGunn: Why do you think that happened?

In previous hostage deals, Israel released a greater number of prisoners than they got hostages back. So now you've seen some evidence, and you're a little more educated than before.

            • +3

@fredblogs: I think the better question is why did the three hostages yelling in Hebrew and walking with a white flag get shot and killed by the IDF.

              • -2

@DogGunn: Yes, why do you think that happened?

                • +2

@fredblogs: Because the IDF operating in Gaza have no regard for civilian life, and shot them thinking they were civilians.

  • -5

I figured i would be pretty hypocritical if I was on Ozbargain commenting on a post if I didn't make the most of the deal! So I watched. Now I'd like to see myself as a neutral person, I worry about the innocents of both sides, I dont understand people who want to eradicate Jews the same way I dont understand why people support Hamas or agencies clearly supporting terrorism. I believe Hamas does not help Palestinians. I got stuck down the rabbit hole of reddit after October 7 and have seen stuff that shouldn't be seen. I hate that innocent people in Gaza are going through suffering, I also see a lot of generational hurt and that simply wont go away.

I see claims to the same land from both sides, geniune claims, whether its from 100, or 1000 years ago - the land is important and holy to both sides. I see religion as a main reason why most disputes occur, which is nothing new.

So back to the Ozbargain ABC deal where you can watch a show for free, yay. Its important to know that Louis Theroux, whilst doing things in a calm and respectful manner, is somewhat of a shock-jock. He makes docos on out there, sometimes taboo subjects and knows what to ask to get the answers he wants and he is good at it.

He went into West Bank to talk to people from both sides, but mainly settlers, who many of us would consider religious extremists. What I see, and often see is that the settlers want to 'reclaim' what they believe is theirs. The Palestinians are rightly scared (and angry) of being driven out of their homes and land. Just like those Sydney nurses, the Palestinians seem to be comfortable to want death to Israelis. I dont see that with the Israelis, yes they are moving in, they also believe its their holy land. They dont seem to be forcibly moving in or killing to get in.

The Palestinians get their kids to throw their stones because they can't retaliate and if anything happened its a good headline for the world to condemn a kid getting hurt. A bit like shooting a rocket from a hospital, the propaganda and story that comes from it serves a purpose.

I appreciate the force and power of the Israelis, in that they absolutely could perform a 'genocide' at any moment but don't. I see the word genocide, or eradication, i don't see it. I see rounding people up and killing them like the Holocaust or whats happening in other parts of the world to religious groups as genocidal. Sure, sure, what aboutism, blah blah.

I can absolutely see Palestinians treated like second class citizens, its horrible and scary, especially living in the fear of having your home taken from you. Their fear and hatred is so ingrained, both parties would take generations to, if ever, get along diplomatically. Ive seen the issues in South Africa that continue to plague the nation, despite it being some 40 years since apartheid.

I watched the doco thinking oh god, here we go, a bunch of redneck Settlers looking to terrorise Palestinians this isnt going to be pretty. To be honest, I see Palestinians as being scared, fearful, angry, but also the aggressors. Like the Israeli checkpoint, he said if he goes there he might be killed, yet Palestinians come there and can enter without fear of death - so long as they're checked for weapons.

Thats what i struggle with, we hear innocent people being locked up or killed in West Bank, the docos show these guys are engaging in war like activities against defence forces. I am lucky to live in a country where we dont have these sorts of worries. I will never understand what its like to live in those conditions, with extreme beliefs and to call a spade a spade, that amount of hatred.

Call me naive, but I would love to live in a world free of religious extremism, where everyone can assimilate and appreciate that both sides can claim the same lands.

Just because one voice is louder than another, or one propaganda show is better than the other, it doesnt mean either side is right.

Watching the doco, well, its convinced me that this situation is as complicated as ever

    • Is your tl;dr summary - west bank Israeli settlers clearly stepping over the line and being provocative and displacing people from their own territory, but rarely are they acting with murderous intentions. Whereas the ones being displaced react with such murderous vitriol it's hard to see them as the good guys even if they are clearly the victim?

      • -1

Sure - I won't disagree, but with added complexities that the average Australian who has lived in a peace loving country all of their life would ever understand.

    • +4

I am sorry. Sounds like you only know about 5% of what's happening. If you are genuinely interested, I can help. but this is a deep rabbit hole that require time. to get a good understanding, you would need to invest between 4 for basic, and 20 hours for enough to actually know when people are spinning BS 90% of the time.

    • -2

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

  • +1

I think I'm lost? Came here for deal and got rick-rolled to /r/AustralianPolitics.

    • -3

I thought and tried to say the same thing as you but got ridiculed. Clearly the mods haven't taken it down so figured this is the new Ozbargain way and took part.

      • -2

It's embarrassing. These people are obsessed.

    • +5

its a highly sought after documentary, and hard to find. the extremely limited time it is available is the deal, just like any other films or video games that are put on other streaming services for a short period. If you are not interested in it, no one is forcing you to be here. I don't comment when there is a free show for little kids at a park or Westfield's, because i don't have any

You also don't see me commenting on this:
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/879831
We Will Dance Again - Surviving October 7th (Was Previously Available with Paramount+ Subscription Only) @ 9Now

      • The point is I am interested. I just don't need 1000 posts of other people's opinions, there's heaps of other sites for that! Sometimes the comments are useful in regards to how to access the deal so before you say "don't read them" that is why I do.

        • I'm interested to hear your recommendations

  • +3

We were so close to getting Israel in our backyard in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Google "Kimberley Scheme".

A 1944 opinion poll found that only 53% of Australians supported the scheme, with 47% against the plan. Opposition was primarily based on concerns that the settlers would inevitably drift away from Kimberley and begin migrating to the cities in large numbers. On 15 July 1944 the scheme was vetoed by the Australian government and Labor Prime Minister John Curtin (with bipartisan support)

Britian didnt want them in England, Australia refused to take them so someone remembered the promise from 3000 years ago and here we are today

    • -3

What's your point? Australia should have taken them in and then we wouldn't have these problems today?

      • +4

@fredblogs this explains how Palestinians lost their land. homes, and farms and now they live as 3rd class citizens in their own country, even back then Australia was able to see through how this was a bad idea to settle them here, yet Palestinians welcomed those refugees.

so, this did not start on oct 7th, it is not about hostages. it's planned ethnic cleansing turned into genocide; all this have now spanned over most of century, yet if a documentary sharing glimpse of all this to the world shared, its somehow antisemitic

        • -2

They wouldn't have lost all that if they agreed to the partition plan instead of starting a war in 1948. The Palestinians that stayed in Israel are citizens with equal rights, there are 2 million of them.

The documentary is one sided because it focuses on extremists on one side but not the other. The extremists on the Hamas side are much, much worse as October 7 shows us.

          • -6

@fredblogs: Truth. The Palestinians have been offered big chunks of Israel since 1948, but they want it all, so have started countless wars. Wars they always lose.

Then they pull an October 7.

From the river to the sea - a genocidal phrase. Downvote if you want, but it’s the truth.

  • +10

I am sick and tired of the hypocrisy of the west. If there is an incident and few innocent people are injured or killed, the whole west cries about it but no one is taking side with Palensitne who are getting killed 100+ everyday.

    • +8

Love the rote IDF response - 'we're investigating but we dispute the numbers'. As if killing 10, 20 or 30 people looking to secure basic food items is okay. Absolutely sickening and inexcusable.

    • +7

It's insane, they're literally using tanks to shoot people lining up for aid. There's no moral argument for that. International law means nothing anymore apparently.

  • -3

If you saw the footage of them parading their hostages naked beaten and raped on the front of their cars while the people of gaza cheered like it was a parade float you probably would be more understanding of the response.

    • +7

I will never understand using that as a justification for hunting starving children.

      • -5

See your confusion probably starts with the belief that someone is hunting starving children. Only reason women and children are getting hurt at all is because the actual bad guys use them as human shields.

        • +5

Turn on the telly, mate. We've got international doctors saying snipers have made a game out of what part of the body they should hit.

          • -4

@RecklessMonkeys: People lie on the telly all the time, in a war of propaganda like this witnesses words don't mean much especially if they are only witness to the aftermath and not the context. I saw an interview with an Iranian grandmother smiling and saying she's so happy because all four of her sons have died fighting Israel and now they are in paradise and she hopes her grandchildren do the same, that's the mentality they have to deal with over there.

            • @dowhatuwant2:

People lie on the telly all the time

I'll just assume you're one of the them then. Bye.

              • -3

                @RecklessMonkeys: Bye bye terrorist supporter.

                • +2

@dowhatuwant2: And off comes the mask. Is that you Ben Gvir?

                  • -3

@RecklessMonkeys: What mask? I never misrepresented my opinion of the conflict. One side are demonstrated fanatic terrorists that happily sacrifice their own children and the other side are trying to secure their homeland and keep their children safe. You side with those not just willing but happy to sacrifice their own children for the sake of the cause. There is no making peace with people like that.

                    • +2

@dowhatuwant2: You misrepresented the desire to protect children as supporting terrorism.
Ben Gvir is a convicted terrorist propping up the Israeli government.

                      • -3

@RecklessMonkeys: Prolonging the conflict will see far more children hurt than ending it as quick as possible. The terrorists are the ones putting the children in harms way so if your desire was truly for their protection then it would be for an end to hamas.

                        • +2

@dowhatuwant2: They forced you to snipe starving children , aye?

                          • @RecklessMonkeys: I haven't seen any proof for that particular story beyond the comments of a solitary doctor who only sees aftermath and not context of what was happening when shots were fired.
