$95 for 50/20 is absurd. Exetel are $80 for 500/50….

    • +2

$1 for the first month is the deal and leave after 1 month. Not everyone can get FTTP or HFC either.

      • Most can. You're either on FTTP, HFC or have a free upgrade path to FTTP

        • Yeah nbn is getting faster overall.

There are millions of FTTN/B/C homes that are currently ineligible for FTTP and won't be for another 1 to 5 years.

      Telstra 50/20 $109. Wow… Just wow… But they are happy to sell me 1TB 300/30 5G internet for $85.

    • +1

      The 50/20 plan is $93, not $95. It's the 100/20 plan which is $95.

50/20 is so poor value now for the price at the $93. The extra $2 gets you 100/20Mbps.

    • +2

Agreed. I'm paying $64 for 100/20 with Southern Phone. It's been solid so far, though their ProductReview score is rough, classic NBN luck of the draw.

    25/10 - $79/M ? Wow

    • +1

Such poor value. Feels like the plan exists purely to make the others look better by comparison.

  • +3

$1 for a month is good. 25/10 and 50/20 Aussie BB ongoing price sucks.

Buddy Telco (Buddy Telco is using the Aussie BB network to provide nbn).
    25/10 $65/m ongoing.
    50/20 $75/m ongoing.
    CG-NAT IPv4 and static IPv6. $5/m for a Static IP to turn off CG-NAT.

    Aussie BB.
    25/10 $79/m ongoing.
    50/20 $93/m ongoing.
    CG-NAT ($0 to turn off CG-NAT). $5/m for a Static IP.

    21/10 for 79$ rip off.

  • +8

Aussie Broadband at it with their day light robbery.

  • +1

How easy is it to cancel? Just call them on the last day?

  • +5

Insane prices! Definitely not OzB worthy

    • +3

Good to see some unapologetic takes on OzB and negative brand exposure. Too many companies keep getting away with highway robbery.

    • Can't afford $1 eh

  • +7

    $93/month For 50/20 is garbage

  • +2

Aussie broadband use to be the bomb but now they are one of the most expensive, exetel uses their line with much much better pricing

    • +5

      Exetel doesn't use Aussie BB.

Exetel is apart of Superloop and use the Superloop network.

      • -2

i use to be with exetel, when i run internet speeds and all that it always comes back with Aussie BB

        • +3

          That can be either…

          1. Speedtest picked a random local server and kept selecting the Aussie BB server.
          2. If speedtest said your ISP was Aussie BB that means someone changed it and selected your address instead of their own.
        • +2

Exetel and Aussie BB are two completely different companies with their own networks. That's like saying Optus uses Telstra for their backbone network.

  • +4

    $1 for the first month.

    Then churn.

    • Do you have to give 30 days notice?

      • +2

No, leave any day you want.

  • +3

Aussie bb was amazing when they first came into the scene, they got an ego with feedback and now charge alot more. Shame.

    25/10 for $79!?! Wtfffff….

  • +1

And they used to be all the rage…

  • +1

    Insane prices

  • +1

See what happens when you go from a private company to a public company and keeping that share price high

    • Superloop (with Exetel as a full subsidiary) is also listed. Since both are listed, then this argument doesn't quite stand?

  • +2

    Avoid Aussie Broadband.

    • +1

      Why?
Join. Stay one month for $1, then leave.

Currently with ABB on the 100/20 for $95 a month. I'm on opticomm FTTP. Is there a cheaper provider with comparable speeds?

    • I'd be interested in knowing this too.

    • Superloop, Uniti, Exetel, Leaptel are all cheaper than ABB.

  • Great deal my More Telco plan just went from $54 to $95! Good churn!

  • Thanks OP, just started $1 Telstra deal so will set up ABB for activation in a month!

    • My $1 Telstra deal would start from today as well. Going to setup ABB for 13/8

  • Will $1 first month deal stack with referral code?

    • +2

Tested- the promo code won't stack with referral codes.

  • Code No longer working?

    • The code automatically applies to 50/20 and 25/10 plans.

  • +2

"Promo/referral code invalid" keeps popping up, and the price doesn't change even when I get to the payment page. Not sure what's going on…

edit: I think I've figured out the issue. I signed up with Buddy Telco this morning, and since they're basically the same company as ABB, that's probably why the promo isn't working. When I tried using a different address, the promo was applied automatically.

    • I just signed up for Buddy a few hours ago and also have the same invalid code message for all three plans now

  • lol. Superloop has 1000/50 for $85. Have used both and can’t tell any difference, aside from the accent of customer support staff. Terrible “deal”

    • +2

Honestly the so called Aussie accent ABB customer service has gone downhill a lot. Also, I've on an average waited at least 40 mins in queue to connect to someone for a simple query and they never answered the calls in a friendly tone. I always get a cocky snarky dkhead on a call who never had any willingness to help apart from trying to get off the call. I would rather deal with the other accent who really do try to go above and beyond to help out when you need something done.

  • +3

Just got an email from them saying the minimum debit amount is $5 giving me these options.

You can wait until your second bill, where we will just add the $1 from your first month and charge you for both months at the same time.

You can also make a manual $5 card payment in MyAussie, giving you a $4 credit that goes towards your next invoice.

So if I leave before the 2nd month I guess it's actually going to be $5 not the $1 advertised…

    • +3

      I got this too!

What a joke, I just ported out, I wonder what they will do as I will not have a bill next month and theres no way I am transferring these scammers $5!

  • I don't get the hate on this deal. There are much worse deals here that get a lot more love. A month of 100/20 (which will become 500/50 in September) for $1 before churning out is a pretty good deal.

  • Getting promo code invalid, anyone?

    • Same here - however my current NBN access is via Buddy so I am unsure if that is the problem.

      • also currently with buddy and getting the error trying to churn to ABB. Worst case I'll just go straight to Arctel.

edit: just tried signing up next door on the 4g and the code went through fine, so definitely they cracking down on buddy customers

        • +2

Worked over the phone and scheduled to connect through Port 2.

  • I noticed that when placing an order online using this promo there is no limit to how long in the future you can schedule connection for. Whether it be next week, next month, next year or 2 years away, it was not at all limited (unlike Buddy Telco, which is ABB white-labelled and limits it to 90 days in the future). Very odd indeed. Dare I say it’s unlikely a new connection order would be kept open for that long, let alone this promo honoured so far in the future!

I say this with the purpose of helping users who may be in the middle of an existing 6-month promo with another provider and could use a $1 month when it’s time to churn!

  • Has anyone jumped on this for $1 and churning away straight after? I received e-mail from ABB that min debit is $5, and so they will charge $1 to the second bill, so unsure how to pay up the $1 post churning?

  • For those wondering about their $5 minimum repayment - I called them to cancel after the first month and they were able to deduct the $1 off my card on file. Cheers!

    • Thanks! Did you call before churning away, or after? I'm off to Buddy Telco after ABB.
