Both cashrewards and topcashback have:
Cashback is ineligible on the following: Use of any promotional codes entered manually in Amazon's 'Promotion Code' field.
TCB additionally has: Cashback is ineligible on use of any codes not approved and posted by TopCashback.
Others have stated it has worked previously. Since you don't manually enter the code I don't see why it wouldnt. But just avoid or buy some gift cards if you want to be safer.
Changed the wording to reflect not 100%
I wouldn't buy giftcards the CARD10 t&c's exclude gift cards from eligible purchases
Do you know what material is the back made out of? I have the previous gen and the back is all sticky and looks 100 years old, despite keeping it in the case.
Plastic does that some times, especially rubberized plastic. Remember the 90s cars and their interior buttons?
Only way is isopropyl alcohol and scrubbing. I won't bother though, just stick some stickers or something like Dbrand skins on it, or just use the case and forget about it.
Quickest way to remove soft touch plastic that's gone sticky is petrol. Legit saw a YouTube short about it, went to the garage, raided the lawn mower supply and a rag and in shock it broke it down faster than any chemical I've used in the past.
Just bought it, delivery ETA tmr, will Amazon refund the price diff??
Amazon don't refund price difference. You will just have to re-order and refund if you want lower price.
I have had success messaging online chat and receiving a credit for the difference.
Interesting. Not sure what it would do to Cashback though. Probably wouldn’t risk it.
Yea they refunded the difference as amazon credit.. Im wondering if this will invalidate cashback from TopCashback.
@mirovich: I read the terms of TopCashBack, seems the only possible exception would be your order has been modified since delivery, which I don't believe it will be the case. Hope TA from TCB can verify this…
Will I get a cashback if I use Amazon gift card ?
Yes
TCB: Cashback is ineligible if using any Amazon credit as partial or full payment. However cashback is eligible if using Amazon gift cards or gift card balance as payment.
Cashrewards: Cashback is eligible for: Purchase of products in an eligible category paid with gift cards.

Not sure about this one. Is it counts as amazon gift card or credit in an account
The gift card part is no problem. If you mean the $10 promo credit, in the past I have received cashback on the purchase minus the promo value but couldn't say for sure if it's still the case.
If you want to be sure, at checkout change your payment options and untick the promo discount, use it another time.
all i can say is after 2 years use these things are flipping awesome. makes reading fun and practical again
This or a Kobo (primarily thinking of Libby)?
Libby does not work (at least not natively) with Kindle, so if you preference is Libby integration, then it's Kobo
Kobo if you don't mind paying a bit more. A lot more flexibility and less cluttered UI
Think the colour Clara or Libra are worth it, or ultimately just getting a worse screen for black and white?
I load my books almost exclusively with Calibre so wondering if Kobo better way to go. Kids managed to lose the Paperwhite 32GB we had (looked back at my order, 2021 and was $149 :(
Almost impulse bought the Kindle in the wee hours this morning when it was going to be same day delivery, but after a sleep now everything has changed to 13/7 delivery so I'm considering the options..
Topcashback has 20% cashback for Kindle, so if you were to get this Kindle 16gb, you'd get 20% back (exclusive of tax), so 20% of ~$197 ($217 minus GST) final price of ~$157.
Out of the box, Kobo is much more intuitive for Calibre than Kindle.
In terms of colour, as you pointed out - the B&W does suffer on these colour models - best to jump on YT, so you can see the difference - as IMO this is more of a personal opinion, some don't care, some do care etc. I personally don't think the colour model is worth it, unless you are reading lots of anime/manga which has colour - I will admit, it's cool seeing book covers in colour, but for me, it's not worth the additional price tag, noting I just use it to read normal books (i.e. non-manga/anime).
Personally, I've had a Kindle and a Kobo, and I'm going back to Kindle (my Kindle is at home awaiting to be opened).
@eltito: That reminds me I got cashback on the old one too so really cost me $135 :) Bit hard to compare apples to apples now I guess, the 32GB version is "signature edition" with wireless charging and auto ambient light sensor added. Nice to have but infrequently needs charging and don't know if ambient light sensor is necessary (32GB not either I know, never got close to filling 16GB let alone 32GB)
Thanks for the info anyway, I don't think colour is worth it if it sacrifices B&W.
Watched this comparison, didn't realise that while they are all 300ppi in B&W the Kobo are only 150ppi for colour. Looks like the new Paperwhite speed is much improved too.Think coupled with a bit of customisation the Kindle is probably the go (and at least it's back to same day delivery now)
Just noticed there is a Kindle colour too, just not outside the US.
@bamzero: Yeah kindle colour is a thing that has been available for a while now (in the US), but, if you look at reviews for when it came out, it suffered from colouring issues. I assume they’ve tried/have fixed but unsure as I havent kept track
@eltito: Bit cheeky of Amazon to wait until after the Prime Day sales then release the Colorsoft here…
Anyone who've received theirs recently able to confirm what firmware their kindle came with (before registration/updates)?
Paperwhite 16GB, v5.18.3 but not sure if it updated to that or came with it. Didn't notice any updates going on. Guess it may have updated in the background when I set it up.
Sucks tho as just saw Winterbreak doesn't work on 5.18.1 and newer.. hopefully they find another exploit. I should have read about this before I set it up. (I'm also reading now that there may already be an exploit for newer firmware but the devs are planning to submit to Amazon for the bug bounty first)
So seems 5.18.3 was released in May 2025, and 5.18.2 in April.
The box says production date is 10/2024 so I guess it would have come with a pre-5.18.2 firmware and I could have filled the storage to block any updates (I'm assuming you're asking with jailbreaking in mind)
Following up now that I've received my kindle:
Also bought a paperwhite, box states a production date of 10/2024, and came with 5.17.0 firmware which should work fine with WinterBreak.
Saw that 5.18.4 has been released and patches the exploit to be used in the updated WinterBreak when it eventually comes. Filled my storage in prep until it gets here.
Got the standard Kindle
$177 - $40 cashback (25% cashback rate, applied to GST exclusive price) - $15 CBA Yellow = $122 net
Are you sure the NAB10/CARD10 codes do not invalidate the 20% cashback?
