all the suppliers are mega expensive

    • +5

Only matters if you stay long term.

For regular switchers - its the incentives to switch that matter!
Switch and stay connected for a minimum of 45 days, then switch in next Deal💰

      • @INFIDEL I was on Ovo previuosly, then switched to Alinta. Can I switch back to Ovo again and be eligible for the bonus mastercard? I have finished my 45 days period. Have you ever been charged fee as a returning customer?

        • +1

          Yes. (Am also in Brissie.)
Have done the same before. Back with Alinta again. Staying with each the min required period.

      • Can I still get this deal if I am not switching from another provider?

Aka no active connection with any gas company right now

        • Not a gas user - no idea.

    • +2

Not all, or for everyone. I switched to OVO in the last deal and it was only an extra 3c/kw, but with the bonus of 3 free hours of electricity each day (which now constitutes 2/3rd of my energy consumption)

      • Had a terrible experience wirh ovo, first time setiched to ovo using ecconex and during first week they charged me 180$ saying it's your first month bill and they charge in advance, I simply switched back in cooling off period, how come I get a huge bill for very first month? I am still waiting for a refund lol

Can't imagine staying for 45 days and get another 180$ to get 150 back

POWER shop is the cheapest but I was with them already

        • -1

Had a terrible experience wirh ovo, first time setiched to ovo using ecconex and during first week they charged me 180$ saying it's your first month bill and they charge in advance

That might be because you didn't read what you were signing up for.

I mean, it's literally there on the Ovo home page:

We split your predicted energy costs for the year into 12 equal monthly payments. If there's a change in your energy use, we spread the costs or savings across the rest of your payments to keep your energy bills nice and smooth.

          • @YesPleaseThankYou: I did not read and did not like after signing up lol

            • +2

@sqheaven: You are thus wasting everyone's time, including your own — and making costs higher for the rest of us.

              • -2

@YesPleaseThankYou: Power shop is cheaper. Prove me wrong. And go on wasting time and effort.

                • -1

@sqheaven: If you're looking for cheapest, you don't understand the purpose of churning. I mean, it's even discussed in this very thread.

                  Prove me wrong

                  I owe you nothing.

                  • @YesPleaseThankYou: Not all churns are worth the time and effort. I don't even remember if I have ever seen a bill that big in years. This was expected.

Cheap is better than getting ripped off.

                • @sqheaven: Yes Powershop is cheapest. They put up rates 10 July and I checked about 8 recommended cheap offers and Powershop Powerhouse still best.

  • +3

    Lumo arent too bad

    • +2

They have locked in their prices until late 2026 too.

    • Just switched to them. Still haven't got my cards from the last time I switched. Hopefully they start rolling in soon.

    • Yep Lumo are the best by far inner s.E Melbourne.. switched 2 months ago and got my $120 Cash rewards paid already… id rather 30$ less and not having to wait 6 months, chasing gift card

      • good idea, I see cashrewards is now $150 for Lumo elec

        • But it requires you to stay connected for 75 days compared to the 45 days here

        • CR is $100 electricity and $75 gas according to website

      • +1

"This Lumo Energy plan is offered through Econnex which is powered by CIMET" (Cashrewards)

  • +4

They don't respond to emails regard gift cards. I wonder if it was a mistake to use their expensive providers if they have issues sending gift cards through. Is anyone else having this problem or just me?!?!?

    • +3

although i havent been using their services recently but i previously used their services maybe 3-5 times over some years and they always sent the gift cards

    • +1

That's really disappointing to hear. If that continues, I will not sign-up with Econnex.

      • -4

        If that continues

It has been continuing for a while now…

    • +2

They responded to me - a fair bit of back and forth but they paid up eventually

    • Yep chasing them now, ridiculous. Message me if you are also having a problem id love to report them and list many cases against them in one email.
      Im done with it!

    • +5

      Don't email or call…

      PM our Econnex Rep Manyo
With reference number from signup confirmation email from Econnex.

As suggested in many Econnex Deals.
Always responded over my years of experience taking up these Econnex Deals.

      • -5

Shouldnt need to follow up a deal thats promised. Clearly fleecing many in hope they forget

        • +5

Ideally. Things do occasionally go wrong in any business or Deal.

But if you cant be bothered reading advice in these many Deals & following it - you will likely miss out.

Don't contact Econnex office - they usually don't know of these Ozbargain Deals.

Rep organises these Deal, so contact Rep!
          Couldn't be much easier…
          PM Manyo using Ozbargain messages
With reference number from signup confirmation email from Econnex.
So they can track down what went wrong.

As usual, some prefer to complain😜
(Regularly when they aren't due to receive MC from very recent Deal…)

I prefer to get my money💰
So contacted Rep a couple of times when minor problem occurred. Always got quick response & problem resolved!

Received all my gift cards & MC over years of Econnex Deals.
Very happy with all the money💰

      • +1

Just did that. Thanks for letting me know. Didn't think to read past threads as it was my first sign up. Thank you

        • +1

I've learnt in 5 years of these lucrative Econnex Deals😉
Good you contacted Rep to hopefully resolve your issue.

      • +1

Thanks for this. I had $300 worth of cards that were just over the 120 days. Messaged Manyo and they turned up within an hour.

  • +7

I feel like this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/902931 is better given it is only 30 days not 45. Don't think it is worth the extra $25 for gas. Although you can get internet here.

    • +5

The thing with switching gas is that, unlike electricity it is never instant and can sometimes be very delayed. I assume the 30/45 days counting would start from when it actually switches, and not just when we sign up/request for the switch?

      • Yep it is 30/45 days from the date of when the switch takes place. For gas as you mentioned this normally takes much longer given they need to manually read the meter.

        • Dont think its 100% true… In my case, signed up gas on 31/3, connection date was very late 17/6, gift card received 14/7 (less than 30 days after connection).

  • +5

I assume powershop is on the list.

Use their credits as a buffer against inflated prices, buy the wdlcome and future packs for the next month.

You can also call powershop and have your plan switched to their better offering within the 45 days and it won't affect your payout, i had read this in another post, so it's not my personal information.

In and out in 60 days (or less)switch to a proper low cost provider to weather the winter or jump on another deal.

  • +2

Has anyone received their bonus from this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/901417 promo? It’s been 90 days, terms indicate 90-120 days, is the bonus sent out towards the end of 120 day period?

    • +2

They normally land around the 15th so I'm expecting that one imminently

      • +1

Please update here once you receive it.Thanks.

        • I received a card yesterday. Must have been the Feb one

      • +1

the march ones have yet to come. will come up till august

        • waiting on March too. 120 days since sign up today, so expecting imminently

    • +3

      waiting as well

    • +5

Its 90-120 days from connection (not sign up). My previous experience from this deal:

      21/02/2025 - Signup
      27/02/2025 - Electricity Connected
      26/03/2025 - Gas Connected
11/06/2025 - Received Karta Gift Card $200 (for electricity) after 104 days from conenction.
12/06/2025 - Received Karta Gift Card $100 (for gas) after 78 days from conenction

    • +1

      Usually ~120d for electricity

Received MC from 2 Deals this year, with another waiting for 90-120d to end.

Check emails from Econnex & Karta Rewards (MC issuer) as MC must be activated within a month!!

    • +1

Can PM Manyo using Ozbargain messages
With reference number from signup confirmation email from Econnex.
      So their team can check.

    • Just received mine now :D

    • It's literally 120 days from connection. Not sign up. Just got mine now

    • +1

I received mine today for switching both gas and electricity, but I got two gift cards of $100 not the $100 for gas and $150 for electricity as advertised. Anyone else the same?
Edit: reading below comments looks like they are sending $200 for electricity… So maybe an extra $50

  • +1

Great timing - my 45 days is up on the 17th

  • Looks like Topcashback is doing cashback on Econnex: $70 for electricity, $70 for gas and $70 for internet

    • Seemingly no way to stack with this offer, right?

      • I'm not sure to be honest. Here are the terms:

Cashback is eligible only on Solar, Energy (electricity & gas), and Broadband products on a completed purchase & payment of a policy. A completed quote is not an eligible purchase and will therefore be ineligible for cashback. Cashback is ineligible on Mobile, Credit Cards, and any products not listed as eligible.
Cashback will be confirmed after your product or service has been active for at least 90 days. Payment may take 50 - 90 days after validation.
Cashback is ineligible on use of any codes not approved and posted by TopCashback.
Cashback is ineligible on use of gift cards for payment and/or purchase of gift cards.
Cashback is ineligible on purchases made via the retailer's mobile app.

      • +1

No. Asked in many Econnex Deals.

        • Thanks for confirming

  • +1

If I'm interested only in Electricity, it's the same $150 as the long running deal. Come on, Econnex, you can do better 🙂

  • -1

How often can you use these offers? I couldn't find any restrictions in the T&C's.

    • Theres no restrictions as such, just fulfill your 30 / 40 / 45 days whichever you signed up for. You can chop and change as much as you like.

    • -3

I find it fascinating when people look for terms that aren't there.

It's almost as if they want to be restricted.

      • I find it fascinating when people make useless comments on posts. I read the terms, but others likely have EXPERIENCE with this company and if they have something hidden somewhere else that I missed.

I hope you have the day you deserve.

        • -2

          but others likely have EXPERIENCE

You didn't ask about 'EXPERIENCE'. You enquired about 'restrictions in the T&C's'.

          If it is:

          hidden somewhere

then you are not bound by it.

I hope you have the day you deserve.

Having a lovely day, thanks :)

    • +1

Ozbargain's Econnex Rep Manyo has stated in a previous Econnex Deal posted by Rep:
we only need to stay the minimum number of days required in Deal, before switching again.

There is no other time restriction governing if you can sign up for another Deal.
So T&C are not required to cover it!

Just go for it as regular switchers here do for the money💰

I regularly switch about every 2 months in next Deal. Could switch more often.
Received all the promised incentives in last 5 years.
Effectively never paid for electricity for years!

      • Any impact on your credit score doing this? I know some people don't mind their credit score and I wouldn't but for the fact that I also churn credit cards.

        • You may as well be asking 'how long is a piece of string?'

  • Does Lumo do a credit check like Powershop?

  • nice

  • How do I know which plans are qualified? I just type in my postcode to the linked page. Are they all eligible?

    • +1

Those are all the plans available through this Deal at your address. All are eligible.

  • Do people usually switch right after 45 days then wait for payment when they're no longer a customer? My meter is read every 90 days, how does it work if I sign up and then leave with no meter reading in that period?

    • My meter is read every 90 days

Switch to a smart meter to facilitate speedier churning.

    • Leaving your current provider will trigger a meter read and final bill, then your new supplier will continue with those numbers.

    • +1

With Energex (SE QLD), they provide an estimate, it's usually pretty close though a couple of times it was off by a hundred kWh. Smart meter will help with actual reading but then Energex will charge "Peak Demand" and many retailers will add the charge to your bill. Once a smart meter installed, there is no way back.
This is based on my understanding of rather convoluted energy retailers & networks, happy to be proven wrong.

  • Will you get multiple gift cards if you do multiple applications for different properties?

  • Hey guys just received my gift cards from the March or April deal(unsure, lost track). Email is from 'Karta Rewards' so check your spam / junk just in case it got filtered to there.

    • You should have also received email from Econnex saying to check that Karta Rewards email.

      • Yeah I usually get that too but not this time. Not the text yet either.

  • Currently with Powershop in electricity. Planning to join Gas with Powershop but not coming up in search results if I select 'Gas only'. Any tricks to work around it?

    • I noticed the same, some gas offers only show up when you search for Electricity + Gas bundled together

    • When I switched to Powershop for electricity it said gas not available with Powershop in my area. Had to use different provider for gas.

  • +1

Just received my March gift card, but only $100 instead of $200. Emailed their support.

Anyone else in the same boat?

3 prior all like clock work.

    • +1

I got 2 X $100, I actually am unsure if it was from March or April :/

      • +1

I spoke too soon, a second $100 came through 10 min later. Must be March for me, my next application was May.

        • Ahh no worries. Hopefully I have another few coming for the April deal, I have the email confirmation for signup so I know I did sign up in April too.

    • +2

      I received 2x $100 for electricity.
It's the first time they sent 2x $100 instead of $200 just to confuse people.

    • Similar to when Econnex offered Woolies Gift Cards, they were emailed by Woolies as multiple $50 GC.

With change from previous $200 MC to smaller payouts now, guess Karta Rewards may be preparing to send as multiple smaller MC?

      So likely this $150 for electricity may be sent as $100 + $50, or 3 x $50 …

      • The first time they switched to MC they sent out 2x $200 for electricity and 2x $200 for gas

  • +1

Recently signed up with econnex got my voucher, can i sign up again with new providers?

    • Yes, there's no limit. So long as you serve the period stated in the deal (30 / 40 / 45 days) You're all good to go!

      • +1

        Awesome thank you for that.

  • Does anyone know if one can get the "one off $200 (incl. GST) sign up credit" of Powershop if I have already used them with the sign up credit before?

I churned to another provider last month, so I am wondering if I am eligible for the sign up credit if I go back to Powershop.

    • +1

I've got the one off $200 sign up credit many times from both Engie and Powershop, however last time I tried Powershop they declined me.. I did overuse it.. But it couldn't hurt to try?
