请问,你怎么知道他们不是中国人?
Fob?
Fresh off boat - referring to someone who has not been in the country very long. In contrast to say Chinese Australians who are ethnically Chinese but grew up or were born in Australia
@illusion99: Got it. Well there's plenty of fresh off boat and many other immigrants who drive incompetently. It's crazy the foreigners don't need to do any driving tests in Australia before they can get an Australian licence.
@arcticmonkey: That's only partially true. They can drive on their foreign license but when they want to get a local license they will need to do the theory and road test unless they are from a small number of countries who have comparable road rules compared to Australia.
@arcticmonkey: Whilst thats somewhat true it's not limited to immigrants. I've seen what appeared to be a local reverse on the m1…
The quality of driving is considerably worse here than in some of the European countries Fwiw.
@Chocobros: Australia, and Australian drivers are woeful at best. Lane discipline is terrible, darting in and out of lanes (Sydney motorways), overtaking lane etiquette etc, even merging on slip roads. Go to Germany if you want to see educated and capable drivers. Getting overtaken on the Autobahn by a quick car, if you're loitering in the "fast" lane, you'll find out about it soon enough.
That’s just SUV drivers in general.
It's possible. I've noticed it with Tesla drivers in particular. Once you get to that stage, you notice it even more because you pay more attention when it's a Tesla driver but it's definitely a thing.
I'm eager to say the same about the Hiluxes and Ford Rangers, but in all fairness, it's probably still a minority of those that I've encountered that can't drive or do dangerous things like tailgating you, and the majority do drive OK. Probably confirmation bias at play here.
Yeah uh wasn't the pre facelift Model Y much cheaper in the past - even the performance and LR models?
And now you have to deal with post conservative turn Elon being associated with it. Feels like Tesla should be throwing a lot more in the way of discounts lol
Yes. Some long range pre facelift were $60k drive away.
I still couldn't stomach paying that so I can't see how $68,400 for a pre facelift long range is a deal (what they're showing as now).
Would only be interested if the South African illegal alien is no longer in charge, and deported.
You'll be pleased to know that Albo is not a copyright infringing cousin of ET from South Africa.
What colour is your hair and how many nose piercings do you have? Asking for a mate.
Y Indeed
Byd is better
time to reduce them by $25K-$30K as it has running for few months..
Cheapest $62k for a demo model…
was cheaper last year
everything except EVs man. Price dropping like a rock!
Who would want to buy a car with a subscription plan.. no thanks.. i like to own what i buy and be able to repair it myself.
Who would want to buy a car with a subscription plan.. no thanks.. i like to own what i buy and be able to repair it myself.
What subscription plan? Are you qualified to repair a battery electric vehicle? Have you got a TV, laptop, mobile phone, etc and do you repair them all?
You might find it funny. I do. Latest repair being a 10 year old LED TV. Motherboard needed replacement and AliExpress came to the rescue.
55" e waste with life prolonged.
I'm certainly all for repairing and reusing existing products if they can be given a new life. But that's not what I was questioning - @vid_ghost claimed that the car in this deal has "a subscription plan", which is patently false information.
Also, repairing everything is not really going to be a possibility. Even qualified mechanics cannot repair an EV without undergoing specialised training because they're a different beast. I don't even own an EV and have never recommended one for anybody but I do hate misinformation.
@CocaKoala: The Tesla subscription provides updates for your car. According to Trump and i quote: "Its all computer"
So its important to have for the life of the car. Also the repair and maintenance is all linked with your subscription and you can order new parts when their service life comes up..
My issue with it is that unlike Toyota or Hundai you are stock to exclusively using Tesla service centers for any car maintenance. No shopping around. no ability to try and find an alternative.. Its like Apple locking you into their ecosystem but it cost way more.
@vid_ghost: There's a data subscription, but that has nothing to do with updates or repair and maintenance. It's not even needed in most instances since you can hotspot from your phone if you don't want to pay. It's pretty reasonable given you're effectively just paying for a basic SIM plan from Telstra for the car to use for $10 a month.
The Tesla subscription provides updates for your car
You don't need a subscription to get updates. You clearly have no idea what you're talking about.
How does this compare to, say, other 'high yield investments' like a low-end Mercedes?
Mercedes "helped motorize the movement" of Nazism.
and what is the musk car doing in modern times, would you say?
With the top man interfering with politics all over the world trying to support far right organisations?
He hasn’t really done anything other giving everyone more meme material.
Not expecting anyone to agree but behind every political party and leader is a hoard of rich white man pulling the strings. Musk is just dumb for doing it on twitter. Bezos and crypto bros are all bending policies to fill their bank accounts too.
@Frozensage: If you had the ability to imagine yourself in someone else's shoes… say one of the tens of thousands fired without notice from america's administrative departments by doge…. you'd perhaps think he has done something harmful to yourself and the nation.
Or one of the many suffering because those departments are no longer functional.
@rooster7777: I been in public sector long enough to see mass restructuring all the time. It’s nothing new. Do all other politicians get this much negative press for closing schools and closing departments? I think not but it happens all the time.
@rooster7777: Boo hoo. People get fired for the exact same reasons everyday. That’s life. What do you mean without notice? They all received severance packages if entitled to it like any other redundancy.
I rather have an XPeng than owning a Tesla. Now that the g6 is working on the v4 Tesla supercharger
Need insurance to protect against staggering depreciation on Teslas.
Or just buy a staggeringly depreciated Tesla.
That ain’t a Tesla problem. That’s a typical car problem.
For all the complaints about insurance (I pay well under under $2k still for comprehensive on a near-new car with a high agreed value) and depreciation (what new car doesn’t depreciate, and pandemic used prices were not real), you would think you could pay for ICE cars with your pre-tax income too. Lol. EV hate is just a bucket of excuses for people afraid of the most intermittent and minor inconveniences, which happen to come bundled with the incredible convenience of being generally able to refuel at home, and not cook the planet.
Takes me 3 minutes to fill up on the way to work like once a month, it's not inconvenient at all.
May as well ride a pushy to work with filling up once a month
but you're cooking the planet! yes you Mr Brick
I disagree. I do about 6,000 km per year in a tiny 4 cylinder car. My electric usage is like 4kwh per day with the help of solar panels. I rarely fly on jets. You don’t need to have an EV to do your bit.
@Brick Tamland: True you don’t drive much, I got an EV not-Tesla save a fortune in $$ and Time. Best move ever, with your low k’s no point upgrading unless you want the convenience. I drive around 40k per year, and standard range was fine.
Transport is more than 20 per cent of the emissions task, but it’s also some of the lowest hanging fruit. It’s easier for us to collectively switch land transport to EVs than to, you know, stop building with concrete, change steel making completely, or to replace some (but not all) industrial process heat. It’s also easier to switch to electric vehicles than to undo seventy years of bad land use planning decisions that make mode shift really difficult in many places.
It is absolutely necessary to stop replacing old ICE cars with new ones if there is any hope of not cooking the planet. That’s true for Mr Brick and everyone like him.
@idalla: China has increased its co2 emissions since 1995 by more than the TOTAL emissions of… Australia + the UK + the ENTIRE EU + the ENTIRE USA. And they are continuing to increase their emissions of co2 by Australia’s TOTAL emissions every 9 months or so. So you go on believing that buying your EV is actually doing something. Oh and I haven’t mentioned India’s increase..
@Foxxster: Which raindrop caused the flood? All of them.
Yes Australia and a few countries changing a few cars to EV won’t singlehanded solve the climate crisis; but it takes everyone making changes to achieve the bigger goals. Merely pointing at China and Taylor swift flights won’t achieve anything.
Take me 5 secs to plug in my garage and cost $5.
have had a Tesla for 2.5 years now, not sure why people are paranoid about running out of fuel. I just charge it overnight and have never had issues or worries about running out of juice. I guess for the .5 percent of people who regularly drive 350Ks it might be concern, specially if you dont take any washroom breaks in between. otherwise 3 mins or 15 mins to re-fuel, its doesnt really make much off a difference. the only thing is for EV's charging outside is usually once in a blue moon event. they are cheaper to fill up. faster, have better tech, no servicing worries. So on and so-forth.
I pay under 2k but fully expecting Aami to rip me a new one on renewal. Time to shop for someone else. Anyone with Allianz? How’s their repair network for Tesla?
There's insurance and insurance.
BYD Seal performance 2.8K (also pre tax), Model Y Performance 4K when toying with quotes, Evo 1.8k, Boxster $2k, GS350 $1.8K.
Same insurance with agreed value, decent coverage and choice of repairer.
My model Y performance is $1200 to $1500 annually for the last 3 times RAC WA.
$4K sounds crazy.
mine was 1.2k, you just need to shop around
Who is that with? NSW? Even the run of the mill stuff at home is $1k. All clean history.
My new BMW i4 was only ~$1.1k for comprehensive (26 with no accident history).
Yes. It's pretty much a 4xx with a battery pack. Ive also had a look at the i5 M60, quoted $5k.
My wife's 2 yo Ev insurance is $2.1k insured $62k agreed. My Ice is 10 years old market value $7-$9k and I'm paying $1.5k. I've stopped multiple insurance companies too. I fill for $100-$110 f/n for 700km. The EV is $8-10 for the same 700km. Would I outlay for a second EV in the short term probably not. If this ICE died, I'd certainly be looking a used EV. I do all my ICE servicing, even with oil prices On sale I just paid $155 for oil, filter, air filter and chain filter. I've only brought Bowden's Wipe out wiper fluid for the EV and it's done 40k.
A discounted Model Y 2024 Long Range in Vic is $68,433 (after $11k discount)
A 2025 Model Y Long Range is $68,900
Could it be that Tesla is doing a Harris Scarfe and inflating the savings?
If you're comparing against the new 2025 Model Y Long Range, they go from about $75k drive away (depending on on state road costs).
Still not getting an 11k discount bro
Thanks OP
The old model is terrible to drive. They obviously did not tweak the suspension for Australian roads. The new one is much better. No way i would buy the old gen even with significant discount
I think it was only the ones 2022 to some time in 2023 that had bad suspension. I got the new comfort suspension when the performance came out and was much better.
Yeah, its like they replaced the usual coil springs with solid cylinder of the iron.
it was the RWD that was shocking to drive, stiffest suspension i've ever experienced with a huge turning circle.
the Long range and performance didn't have the same problem
None left in WA, only 1 older model rwd remains for $4k discount. Not much of a saving, I would just pay the extra and get the newer model that has the electric reclining rear seats and rear screen for games and netflix etc
Just get a model 3 and get a lift kit. That is what the model Y looks like.
Ah we are sick of car sites these days. Tesla site: Access denied.
And on carsales, Similar thing you can't look at that car, because 1,2,3.
Just grab a second hand one off Carsales.
Make sure u get the lfp battery and you will have plenty of car.
Buy ones after 2022 July if you want to lease.
65k is not worth the old model. The difference is huge ! I test drove both.
I would also honestly pick the model 3 over the y for the pre refresh design. Just fits the profile better - low to the floor low maintenance sports car that ticks all the other boxes. Does not feel like a boat and you can justify the crappy ride handling to it being “sporty”.
There is no competition for Tesla, the Ai and software company. All the Chinese EV companies are making just cars. They will not be allowed to operate AVs in western markets due to security concerns and this is where Tesla will own them all.
Just get a hybrid, can’t be bothered with the whole charging shit show.
you can be bothered to drive to a petrol station but not put in a plug at home?
You drive to a petrol station? I happen to be driving past them all the time
you realise there are going to be fewer and fewer petrol stations in future right?
Oh no when is this all happening? I'm still driving an old Hilux.
Looks like a ripoff tbh
How do you know they are FOB? Also how do you know they are Chinese?
