      Why does that matter?

      • In their defense I only ever read the digital it is faster. HUD speed is where it is at though, dont have to take eyes off road.

        • -1

I have that you can forget it’s there though

      • -4

        2025

    • -2

      Buy a HUD display

      • Know any good aftermarket ones?

        • +3

          After markets are never good.

Obd units are slow to refresh.
Gps units also have maybe 1s delay and start to become inaccurate at higher speeds. Although for slow accelerating cars the lag might not be too much of an issue.

    • +1

yea but it's got a front sliding armrest and four speakers though ✨

    • +1

Yeah you silly! Why would you want a 2010's car feature in your new 2025 car???

      • If Nissan Bluebirds had them in '91, they're probably a couple of decades older than you think. ABS and seatbelts are also quite old tech.

        • -1

There was no Nissan Bluebird in Australia in 1991. If you're talking about the U13 model (Altima), that came out in 1993 in Australia.

    • +3

      Not everyone wants digital speedo.

      • -6

everyone wants the option lol its 2025 not 1965

    • -2

Meh. My 2017 Mustang doesn't have a digital speedo either. I've never needed it (my other car has a digital speedo, and when I get back into the Mustang I don't miss the feature at all).

      • good for you bud thanks for letting me know lol

  • +15

Price is for crappy Jimny 'Lite'.
Basic 2 door is $38,990 before paint and extras, 4 door is $41,990!

    • +25

Those Jimny prices need to come back down to where they started

      • +16

People need to stop buying them at silly prices.

        • +9

          Like houses

          • @U30004: Real, Jimny is the house of cars.

            Or is that Toyotas?

            • @dbmitch: In this analogy, Jimny is an apartment, a Lancruiser is a house in the same postcode

              • @beltdrive: Makes sense, the 2nd is much costlier to maintain with fewer social advantages (I prefer bicycle/train for that ;) & it will outlive you with high opportunity cost - you have to work harder for the unnecessary commitment :(

    • +1

2 door Jimmy is the typical version.

      • Jimny brother

  • +1

Jimny has an 1.5L engine. Painful to reach 100km/h.

    • +25

      it's not a sports car

    • Avoid freeways

      • They don't even move at 100 most of the time.

      • Yeah Suzuki tells its customers how dare you think of driving on the freeway.

    • What do you expect from cars at this price? 0 to 100 in 2s?

      • +7

yeah there are only 2 types of cars, 0 to 100 in 2s, or 0 to 100 in never

      • A suzuki swift sport turbo is 10k cheaper than the 4 door. You can get the same engine in the vitara in 4wd.

    • It can go where most others cars can’t

    • +1

      city folk

    • Finally a car I can beat at the traffic light in a 90s diesel landcruiser

    • Growing up our Suzuki sierra had a 1L engine. 100 was never even contemplated.

    • +8

      Good luck with that. Enjoy.

      • +2

had an MG4 for almost a year.. its been fine. its cheap and cheerful and a lot more fun to drive than my 2023 rav4 cruiser hyb at more than 2x the price

        • -4

What do you think the resale value as a percentage of original purchase price will be in comparisson to the 2023 RAV in 5 years?

          • +14

@FlyerOne: This obsession with resale is annoying.

            • +5

@smartazz104: It comes from the overpriced iPhones mentality at 1/2 functionality with the hope that the next year it will be closer to last year's Android flagship phones (eg. S23 Ultra has many more features/AI than the new few versions of iPhones will not get before 2027, if ever ;)

              • @taki: Car reviewers and purchasers have been banging on about resale value for 50 years

          • +1

@FlyerOne: Doesn’t resale value only matter if you plan to sell in that period of time. Higher resale value also means higher insurance premiums right as it costs more to replace??

            • @SpareTyre: Nah, my experience shows a $6000 car cost the same to insure as the $36000 car, comprehensively.

              • @lgacb08: Why do you want to comprehensively insure a $6000 car? The premium would roughly be $1k a year

                • @gaosong2101: No I don't, I just get the quote for the sake of it. But after all, $400 extra to pass the ball to someone to chase up the other party is worth considering.

            • @SpareTyre: Higher resale makes cars insurance cheaper, sound oxy?
The companies don't make public the point where your 20k used car is cheaper to insure than a 10k one

              Its for a Logistical reason,

It's based on your car involved in accident, the more your car is worth, the better likelihood (if the insurer is liable for at fault)
can sell the wreck in whole or parts to cover cost of repairing the other vehicle you crashed into.

And the old adage is some cars are worth more as parts than as whole

        • -2

The rav will last forever though, that's the reason it's double the price

          • @TEER3X: Overpriced car have ever looked at for the $$

          • @TEER3X: Have you owned a recent RAV4? They are not without fault.

      • +3

        Under 1 year it's MG, after 1 year it's Old… OMG…

    • Who asked?

  • Why have they listed "Seven airbags" twice? Does it have 14 airbags in total?

  • +2

Suzuki put a stop-sale on the 5-door until they resolve an unknown issue. I'm expecting a recall.

Suzuki says it doesn't affect the 3 door but I wouldn't be buying that either until Suzuki is transparent about what's going on.

    This sale's timing is a bit suspect…

    • +4

Searching shows that it the stop-sale only affects the Indian-built five-door XL
      So what is the issue?

      • +3

        It's built in India /s

      • Suzuki put a stop-sale on the 5-door until they resolve an unknown issue.

        • +3

I think it might be a problem on door 4 or 5. Doors 1-3 seem fine since no recall

          • @krisspy:

Suzuki says it doesn't affect the 3 door but I wouldn't be buying that either until Suzuki is transparent about what's going on.

            • +1

@BestTechAdvisor: The 5 door model, built in India, doesn't have AEB as required since 1 July.
The 3 door, made in Japan, does have AEB.

  • -2

    Price on Auto Vitara..

    • 1k extra

  • +2

Man idk, if this car came out in 2016 it would look great but for 2025…I mean every other car brand looks heaps better now in 2025.

Is Suzuki the no frills version of the Japanese auto makers?

    • +5

Theyre doing a Subaru now. Everything just looks beige and forgettable. The Jimmy is the only remaining vehicle in their lineup that's a little bit 'cool.' The rest are just automotive chino's.

      • +5

        Swift though?

        • +1

Even the face lift Swift design has gone beige. The pre facelift has much more character IMHO.

Can still get Swift Sport looking cool.

        • Nah. It just looks like a Nissan Juke after it's been in the oven for 6 hours.
The previous Swift had street appeal. Current one is a good car but it isn't triggering anything in my brain that's nice on the eye.

  • Waiting for Hybrid prices.

  • -6

Honestly would rather get a Haval

    • +3

      Yikes.

      • -2

        Ah yes
        The Chinese bad brigade

    • -1

      Get out.

      • +1

I mean an 85kw, dated car that’s thirsty, tiny and expensive?

Sure jimmy’s go ok off road but they’re purely a cult car, nothing about them is competitive

  • +3

Honestly, if people were downvoting that Zeekr deal yesterday, they should be downvoting this deal too. Unremarkable price for a very dated looking car with very average tech.

    • +1

      Tech bros look elsewhere

    • +2

Car looks sick, agree with the complaint about the tech, but IMO the appearance, similar to G Wagen, Original LR Defender, Ineos Grenadier, is timeless.

      • Let's pretend you wake up from cryosleep in another 200 years. You're going to choose to drive around in a Suzuki?

        • -1

Tbh the hero of the story is always driving what people least expect.

        • +1

We'll just transport beam our way around by then

      • If you want to spend the $$$$, you can get a kit to dress the Jimny up as a G Wagon.
        https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Ve8SsCtGaTQ

  • -1

This would be decent value if it was the booster jet engine.

  • +4

The Vitara is a 10 year old model with only 86kW power.

At this price, the Jolion hybrid or Tiggo 4 hybrid are both better and more modern compared to this.

    • -1

How does the tiggo4 hybrid have the same fuel consumption as a 10 year old car with a 5 speed manual. lol.

      • that's easy… non toyota hybrids are a lost cause

        the end

        • Toyota hybrids are the worst…

        • +1

Honda does a good hybrid too. Thats it. Toyota and Honda

  • +4

Suzuki have done a very good job of replicating the driving experience of a late nineties economy car with their current 2025 line-up.
