Does the Westpac 5% track on 0% categories? I know the bonus $8 should.

E: Found this from early 2024, any change to this since?

Does it stack with the amazon $5 off visa offer?

    • +1

Do you have a westpac visa card? I thought they only did MC.

    • +1

Also wanting to know this. Theres no point losing $5 off right now to "maybe" get $8 off in 2-3 months

      • +1

Or use the $10 off $120 with afterpay10

  • +1

Is the $100 spend including or excluding gst?

    • for $8 bonus is refer to GST. but cashback is calculated without GST. just ensure the total amount you paid ≥ $100 dollar.

      • Got the total amount paid to $100.51

      • +1

        This is confusing to me…

“ The '$ to go' amount that appears when you start the challenge is the pre-GST amount.”

$ to go says $100 but that’s GST exclusive?

        • +1

I feel like this is going to cause problems. It looks like Shopback has been set to reward purchases over $110, since the to-go of $100 is excluding GST.

          @gotyourback ?

  • made an order but wasn't tracked

  • +2

    Use of gift cards okay?

  • So…what did you guys do to your competitor? :p

  • Is business account eligible?

  • There’s also a $10 off $120 using Afterpay so might be better than using Westpac (unless using the gift card + 1c payment hack)

    • how does one do that?

      • +1

        Which one?
        Afterpay:
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/923495

        1c hack:
Buy gift cards up to 1c less than your final cost, then still use westpac payment method and get the full value credited as cashback.

  • Currently Amazon have many codes:

    10WELCOME
    AFTERPAY10
    VISAFIVE

Would these go with the $8 Bonus Cashback?

    • I'm guessing no

Purchases with the use of any codes entered manually in the 'Promo Code' Field

    • Would like to know too! Rep? @gotyourback

      • Sorry no, those codes wont be eligible for Cashback

    1. If my partner and I both use the same Amazon account and the same Westpac card but we each have our own ShopBack accounts can we each get the bonus $8 and bonus 5%?

    2. Will partial payment with gift card void the 5% westpac bonus?

      1. That's fine - everyone does this lol. I'm assuming you're making 2 purchases though? One with each account?

      2. No, it's confirmed above. Partial gc payment is fine.

  • Sorry if this is dumb. Is it still qualify if the seller is Amazon Japan listed on Amazon.com.au? Or does the seller need to be Amazon Australia?

    • +1

Also curious - @gotyourback - Amazon UK, Germany and Japan purchases ok? If they are bought on Amazon AU?

      • Not a dumb question at all — happy to clear this up 🙌

As long as you’re purchasing through Amazon.com.au, orders from Amazon AU, UK, Germany, Japan (and other Amazon global stores listed on AU) will still qualify for Cashback ✅ Just make sure checkout is done via Amazon AU.

        • Thanks GYB! My Amzon purchase tracked at $0, but no Westpac bonus or $8 promo bonus yet :( Is there a delay?

          • @jyueli: Glad to hear the Amazon purchase tracked, but no stress on the bonuses — they usually follow the normal affiliate merchant tracking time, which is around 2–3 days ⏰🙌 for the $8 bonus and up to 14 days for the Westpac Bonus

  • Order made last night still hasn't tracked!

    • -1

No worries — Cashback from Amazon can take up to 4 days to track from the purchase date, so it should pop up soon 👍🙌

      • I can see the order tracked now, $0 tracked from the 0% category which should still be eligible for this bonus.
I paid with Westpac card, is the 0% category also eligible for the bank bonus?
        Thanks

        • Yes, 3rd post - GYB states it's valid.

        • Yep, 0% categories are still eligible for the 5% Westpac Bonus as long as the purchase tracks✅🙌

  • Has anyone's order tracked yet? Already been more than 24hrs..

    • I have got the std cashback, and the 5% Westpac, but zero $8 bonus

    • Bought close to midnite yesterday, nothing tracked yet as of now

  • Mine tracked but much less than the 5% Westpac rate. When will the $8 show up? Will this appear in tracking?

  • Just got notification of tracking the base cashback, no sign of Westpac tracking yet.

  • Got the $8 bonus but only the base cash back not the Westpac bonus

  • +1

Shop about $105 but tracked with about $95, the GST was removed.
Would that be enough for the $8 of $100+ spend?

    • +1

      @gotyourback

    • +3

Same, as commented above due to Shopback setting the trigger at $100 ex-GST, but not saying the minimum spend was ex-GST. It's like I know their systems better than they do.

I spent $101.28 and it's only tracked at $93.28, so hasn't triggered the $8 bonus. I expect they'll resolve it.

      • -6

Hey folks 👋 Just to clear this up — the $100 spend for the \$8 bonus is calculated pre-GST, which is why the tracked amount shows lower than what you actually paid.

This was also stated in the T&Cs of the challenge: “Note: The '\$ to go' amount that appears when you start the challenge is the pre-GST amount.”

So for example, if you spent $105 total, it’ll show closer to \$95 tracked since GST gets taken out. You’ll need to make sure the ex-GST subtotal is $100+ for the bonus to trigger 👍

Hope that clears things up! 🙌

        • +1

Ugh also spent like $105, tracked as $96.91

          • -4

@3dprintdeals: Yep that lines up, your $105 total becomes about $96.91 once GST is taken out. Since the challenge is based on the pre-GST subtotal, you’d need to hit $100 ex-GST for the $8 bonus to trigger 👍

            • +2

@gotyourback: I can't add further spend to it since the period is over..

I know I'm not the only one who did this based on the comments above

            • +4

@gotyourback: The challenge was never said pre-gst. The past challenge usually is with-gst, how are we supposed to know?

        • +5

You didn't say spend $100 ex-GST. You said spend $100 and that's exactly what we did. The T&Cs say the tracker is ex-gst, but that doesn't change what the offer was stated as being.

Every other time you have said spend $x and the tracker has been $x/11*10 because it shows the ex-GST amount. For example, spend $50, but the tracker will have shown $45.45, and the T&Cs note about the tracker is the same as it was for this offer. Why is this one suddenly treated differently?

        • +8

sorry but that is misleading and deceptive :(

your advertised required spend amounts to receive a bonus have/are always (assumed) to included gst by law

having a pre-gst counter and clause does not negate this, and indeed on the contrary just adds confusion

previous deals with such counters have highlighted their misleading limitation, indicating whilst pre-gst, the required spend is still nevertheless including gst

tl;dr anyone who has spent $100 including gst should receive $8 bonus based upon your challenge as per previously promoted similar offers

  • -5

Hey everyone 👋 I hear you really appreciate all the feedback being shared here. I understand it’s frustrating and confusing when the spend doesn’t seem to line up the way you expected.

Just to clarify, the $100 spend for this challenge was stated in the T&Cs as being calculated pre-GST (which is why some orders show under $100 once tracked). I get that this wording hasn’t been as clear as it should’ve been, and I’ve already flagged this internally so we can tighten up how we communicate it going forward 🙏

I totally understand it doesn’t change the fact that a few of you feel misled this time, and I’ll make sure your feedback gets back to the team. Thanks for raising it we’ll learn from this to make future challenges clearer for everyone.

    • +4

      Not good enough.

Just to clarify, the $100 spend for this challenge was stated in the T&Cs as being calculated pre-GST

      Where?

Note: The '$ to go' amount that appears when you start the challenge is the pre-GST amount.
This challenge entitles you to a $8 bonus Cashback when you spend $100 or more at Amazon via ShopBack between 10 September 2025 12:00 am AEST - 10 September 2025 11:59 pm AEST.

The spend requirement is when you spend $100 or more at Amazon. The note about the '$ to go' does not state the spend requirement. It simply says the way your app displays the spend.

Even worse that people asked for clarification in the comments above, and you didn't respond despite replying to other comments early on in the day of the promo.

You should honour all spends above $90.90.

I have always supported Shopback, but your handling of this and this leave a lot to be desired.

      • -3

Just to clear this up the T&Cs for the challenge did state that the spend is calculated pre-GST. The exact line is: “Note: The '$ to go' amount that appears when you start the challenge is the pre-GST amount.”

For reference, here’s a screenshot of the T&Cs.

I get that the wording could’ve been clearer (and I’ve already flagged that with the team), but the pre-GST requirement was mentioned upfront. Hope this clears things up 🙌

        • +4

You repeating the same comment as before doesn't address what I've responded with. It said spend $100. It did not say spend $100 ex-GST. The note in the T&Cs, as in past challenges, appears to refer to the way the spend is displayed in the app, not the actual requirement.

That note has not meant the spend requirement is ex-GST previously

As you have said, this wording hasn’t been as clear as it should’ve been. Promising to make it clearer in future doesn't solve the issue for us affected by your lack of clarity. Again, you should honour the challenge for all those that spent $90.90 ex-GST.

        • +3

Great to clear it up after the fact but doesn’t really help right now.

Had it been spelt out much clearer in the first place we wouldn't feel misled.

I hope this is honoured, or it leaves a very sour taste.

        • +2

FYI the newest $10 bonus on $100 spend does not say the same thing for being pre-GST as it does above. Furthermore, in the past, the bar has always been the ex.GST price, i.e. the tracker will say $0 out of $90.91, rather than $100, even if the total spend was $100. If it says $0 out of $100, then it is wholly misleading and not how it used to be done.

    • +1

all I had to do was add another packet of chips to get my cashback :(

    • +5

Why not say it as spend $110?
When different words hit each other, i would be very confusing.
And most people judge it based on past experience, in which the line was set by total spend amount as not everyone is good at math for GST.

    • +3

If we know that we need to spend $100 pre-gst, we’d have spend a bit more. But it was never worked that way and it wasn’t clarified until the challenge was over. I did a lot of challenges, this has to be the first to require pre-gst for the stated amount in the challenge

  • +1

Am very interested in how this plays out as I did the PetBarn spend $50 for $5 this week. I spent exactly $50.
The T&CS say the spend is inclusive of GST but the tracker has rolled over to only show the pre-GST spending and says more spending is required to hit the $50.

    Very misleading.

  • +1

$8 bonus tracked fine, however the 5% Westpac has tracked incorrectly at closer to 1% instead of 5%.
I can see what's happened, I made one order for 3 items, but the items tracked individually, so the 5% bonus has only applied to the first item that tracked, instead of the total order.
Another saga to try and get the correct amount allocated via a dozen emails :/

    • When did the Westpac offer start? My bonus is only $0.20, but it's tracked against a $4 purchase from the 8th.

Edit: it started at 12am on Sep 9. I ordered a single bottle of Head and Shoulders on the 9th :/

      • The westpac bonus is at the same time as this $8 challenge. I got the westpac almost correct but not the $8, due to that pre-gst thing

        • Hold up. The head and shoulders wasn't paid for with a Westpac card, and yet it's tracked as such and has been used as my "first purchase", so I incorrectly got $0.20 rather than $5. FFS.

  • What a wreck (neg for SB being dodgy, nothing against OP for posting this)
