Windows 8 Pro Can Still Get for $14.99 (Windows 7 Product Key Needed)

731

FOR THOSE WHO PURCHASED WINDOWS 7 PC BETWEEN JULY-DEC 2012

As mentioned in this deal http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/82947 last part of the description
that you can get windows 8 PRO for $14.99 by registering a "purchased" Windows 7 PC between certain dates

Well the good news is till 28/02/12 this is still working ! I tested myself after the $40 promo expired
at the checkout from windows upgrade assistant I added the promo code which I received from here https://www.windowsupgradeoffer.com/en-AU and it took off $385 from $399 to make it $14.99. Ended up buying 3 windows 8 Pro for 3 pcs at home. Please see picture I have uploaded

I hope this helps you all and you dont have to pay $399 for windows pro 8, however I am aware you can still pick up windows 8 for $50-$60 Office works and places like that. But this $14.99 :) :)

Method:

  • Go here https://www.windowsupgradeoffer.com/en-AU/Registration
  • Register, get promo code. will emailed within the hour, mine came after 10 minutes
  • In email link will be provided to download Microsoft Windows 8 Assistant. Follow the assistant till last check out page, will have option to enter promo code, enter promo code that you received in email, it should automatically deduct $385. Enjoy Windows 8 Pro for $15.

I read that the upgrade offer is suppose to run till 28/02/13.

It seems people need windows 7 key, it didn't ask me for anything like that. However that shouldn't matter.

  • It won't let me install until I uninstall avast. But I've tried and nothing will get rid of it. I even downloaded a separated thing called avast clear and it says its still there. Help?

  • Worked. thanx a lot.

  • I have a question:

I purchased + installed the upgrade a while ago. A few days ago my PC started acting up (random freezes etc) and I'm pretty sure it's the mobo. If I replace the MB (and maybe upgrade the CPU) will I have to reinstall Win8? If I reinstall will there be issues with the activation?

What follows is my personal opinion. This is not targeted at the OP, but at the product. The deal is a good one, IF you want Windows 8. But…

Windows 7 is far superior to Windows 8. I only bought it because it was $40 vs ~$75 for Windows 7 - but would've paid the extra for 7 if I had my time again.

I really tried to like it. I thought at first it was weird but workable. But now I just think Windows 8 is awful. It's less stable, it's unintuitive and inefficient. I've used pretty much every version of Windows since 1.0 (except 2.0) and 8 is the worst of them all. I really regret installing it. On the other hand, 7 is the best version I've used, by some margin.

I've tried using the aftermarket start-menu replacements, but they keep crashing.

People! Hark! Learn from my mistake! If you have Windows 7, keep it!

5 (net) folks negged morini's post? REally? There are MS fans now? Sheesh - you expect that sort of numptie-dom from iCult folks in any anti-iThing post, but now defensive knee-jerks for the yotta-LoC bloatware writers of Redmond is a thing? Whatever.

There is no way Windows 8 even gets a LOOK at my devices: it seems that nobody has

I've seen every MS O/S since MS-DOS 3.3, and I even bought and paid for OS/2 "Warp" back in the day (non-MS, but you get my drift). Every time MS releases yet another gigantic pile of insecure half-finished bloatware, I grit my teeth and prepare to have to unphuq the PCs of half my family (slow learners, all).

      • Some people are EXTREMELY adverse to change, even if it brings improvements. It is a very closed and inflexible mindset that also presents as an inability to adapt.

I fail to understand why iPeople come to a Windows thread at all.

        As Usura say…"Open your Mind".

8 worse than Vista? Can't take you seriously at all.

8 is worse than Windows ME!??

This is the last I'll say about it here, as it's going off topic. But I feel I need to explain my neg, which has been cancelled out due to being downvoted.

This article explains some of the reasons I hate Win8:
        http://www.nngroup.com/articles/windows-8-disappointing-usab…

As someone with a great interest in an efficient UI, Windows 8 fails on so many levels it's just not funny. Why try to simplify the interface by adding a second one which looks and feels totally different? Why, with the new interface, essentially remove 50% of Windows' core functionality: having multiple windows open on the screen at the same time? (The other 50% is being able to switch between applications). It doesn't even have the ability to play DVDs off the shelf any more!

Yes I can figure out how to put shortcuts on the desktop and maybe add a third-party Start Menu replacement, but why would I want to do that if I can just run Win 7? What does Win 8 do that Win 7 doesn't do better?

    1. The $14.99 upgrade is only eligible if the following condition is met: "You must purchase a qualifying Windows 7 PC between 2 June 2012 and 31 January 2013 to be eligible for this offer. The last day to register and order your Windows 8 upgrade is 28 February 2013." This is listed under the Program Information link you 'accept' as part of the registration.

    2. This deal has been published before (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/82957).

The clause suggests that this deal has expired, and if you have already purchased a PC between the aforementioned dates, you still have the rest of the month to claim your copy.

You are correct, that is what the original post says. This is sort of a reminder post, since the original one clearly says "expired", and only mentions that you can still upgrade in the greyed out detailes. I don't think this warrants a -ve, but I have revoked my vote, since the original offer should be sufficient.

  • Completed an existing registration I kicked off last week - all good.

Tried to do another one today and it asks me for existing W7 reg key… hmm?
