Samsung Micro USB Car Charger $2 Officeworks in Store Only

620

Good price on a micro USB car charger. Being Samsung I'd expect it to be better than the cheap Chinese ones on eBay. The stores around me (ACT) are showing low stock so may be a bit hard to find, but certainly a good deal. Credit goes to those good folks at mild surprise

  • Whats the current rating?

  • 500mA or 1A?

    • I'd say 500mA.

      • Hard to tell from the OW site, it says something about quick charge technology, which would make me think it would be 1A. But i could be wrong. Can anyone who has actually bought one clarify

    • 700mA, I had one. Not vary useful if you have a newer handset needing 1A input. Cant charge new phones while navigating with gps and screen turned on, but it can trickle charge when you are not using the phone.

  • Not sure if it's made by Samsung. I just Googled the barcode on the OW website and apart from OW, here's a hit:

and you don't get arrested not wearing pants shopping on ebay.

  • Note these are NOT compatible with newer Samsung phones! I just got back from buying two and they have the old, large micro-USB style.

    • Micro or mini?

      • +2

Not sure to be honest, just know it's too big for my Galaxy S2

      • Bit confused here to, the OW site clearly states micro. In which case it should fit every android phone/tablet that i know of, and even newer GPS units

The pic is indeed a normal micro USB, this is what I got though
        http://img651.imageshack.us/img651/2760/20130207185211.jpg

Might be a stuff up by my local officeworks or they used the wrong pic.

EDIT: obviously that's my gorgeous finger holding down the 'normal' micro USB for reference

EDIT 2: according to the Samsung website, the code for the normal micro USB is CAD300UBEC, not BRSAMMCCAR which is the one on sale.

EDIT 3: my local may have stuffed up, the barcode doesn't seem to match…

EDIT 4: this is the product I bought - http://www.samsung.com/au/consumer/mobile-phone/mobile-phone…

EDIT 5: (swear I'll stop now) this website lists compatible models http://au.cellphoneshop.net/cad300sbe.html

that connector is hardly seen on samsung phones though (if ever at all)

I wonder what samsung product is using it

        • My old old old Samsung phone used that type of connector.

        • -1

I believe my Samsung SGH-i900 Omnia or D500/600 used that charger.

        • -1

That looks like one of the old plug that Samsung phones from about 5 years ago use to have. Before they standardised on mini then micro USB.

      • Cheers for the pic, looks like it says 770mA. But that seems like an odd figure

    • Whoever mentioned that ots not compatible with newer phones should go this link. Its compatible with all the newer phones…!
      http://www.samsung.com/au/consumer/mobile-phone/mobile-phone…

      • facepalm had you bothered reading my posts, you would have realised that the officeworks picture is WRONG, and that I posted a picture of the actual product. By all means waste your money though.

        • Hahaha, yes Captain Not So Obvious. You actually bought the wrong PRODUCT. OW Picture doesn't matter. Go to this link from OW, and look for the BARCODE which is 08808987744533 and not BRSAMMCCAR (This might be OW internal product code) and the model number for this product is CAD300UBEC http://www.samsung.com/au/consumer/mobile-phone/mobile-phone…

So basically Captain Not So Obvious, your local OW just played an OBVIOUS GAME with you. Jokes apart, I would go and return them to get the correct product with the correct barcode if they have it in stock.

        • Yes well done sport, so you've managed to get the product pictured have you?

        • -1

Nah, none of my local stores have the CORRECT product in stock.

        • So in other words you have no idea what they would have provided had they said they had stock, and hence are speaking from ignorance. Thought so.

        • -1

Huh, its advertised online. I guess you are blind, please invest your next $2 coin on a pair of glasses.
          Good luck.

        • Says the person who has never laid eyes on the product in person. Goodbye.

  • thanks for sharing, was looking for one of those

  • Very phallic.

    • It's for all those times you need to smuggle in a phone charger and you don't mind looking like you've got a tail.

      • +1

You need it to pull it back out.

        So I've heard.

        • They think of everything!

  • I has an original Samsung charger and after some light usage it suffers intermittent connection problem.

  • went to OW bourke st melbourne..
    it is sold out now..

the last three left in VIC is in carnegie.

    • Thanks mate!, I was thinking to go there until see your post

I guess too many OZBargainers working in CBD :)

      • +2

        Define working.

      • +1

I have been to the carnegie store earlier and there were none on the shelves. There are the Samsung S 20 models for $3 but they are the older type of connectors.

While I was there, One of the staff was talking to a customer on the phone who was enquiring about this charger and ofcourse the answer was "out of stock". I am pretty sure that caller was another OZBargainer :)

        • Carnegie said they have not had any for months, and the ones listed on website probably walked.

  • +1

This one seems to be a pretty good deal as well, for a dollar more.

This one is actually in stock in my area

    • lol "In-car charger to suit most Samsung mobile phones." like 5 years ago…

      • ooo it's not a micro USB is it?

    • excellent - got one - thanks!

  • They also have a Nokia micro USB car charger going for $5
    http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Technology/Pho…

  • None at Carnegie even though website says otherwise. None at Elsternwick.

  • Need 2A for my Note 2.

Buy this - great for my iPad and can plug in my Note 2 cord
