+1 to OP for posting a deal at 1.45am on a "school night"….that is a dedicated OzBargainer! I was going to post this deal this morning until I did the usual check and found it was already up…..

    • +1

Try posting this deal after coming back from the Sydney Linkin Park Concert. I skipped my 9am lecture and just woke up at 1pm, my throat hurts but it was worth it.

  • Boo. Kogan sim isn't included in the free shipping offer

    • +6

I wouldn't bother with that. I order a SIM from them back in January and still haven't received it. You might get free shipping but over nearly 2 months wait is completely unacceptable in my eyes.

      • I have the same problem with my SIM from boost mobile. Why do they advertise if they are going to take over a month to send you a SIM.

      • +2

I ordered 2 sims, both were received within 2 weeks and activated/ported within hours of receiving (from Telstra). +2 for Kogan.

      • I too ordered a SIM, but it was clearly labelled upon checkout that it wouldn't ship until the end of Feb. Perhaps they added that after complaints?

Even when that date slipped a couple of days, I received an unprompted email telling me exactly when it would ship. So I really can't complain.

      • I got mine. They ran out of sims. Yours might be coming in the next batch wave.

  • +17

Hmmm, some stuff they raised the price to cover the shipping:
    http://www.kogan.com/au/buy/reverse-cycle-4-in-1-portable-ai…

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/94985

    From $199.00 -> $249.00

Lol even more expensive with shipping before than without shipping….

    • +12

This. A lens I bought off there a month ago for $599 has mysteriously risen to $629 with 'free' shipping.
Nice try, Kogan. Thanks but no thanks.

      • +1

        It's Nogan day.

    • +6

The $199 portable A/C unit was the first thing that came to mind and seeing that it has risen by $50 in price and is still 'on special', this offer has earned a neg from me.

  • Damn it! I couldn't hold out longer and bought the Galaxy Note 2 on the weekend. Now they offer free postage AND dropped the price by $10. 2 more days and I would have saved $29 :(

    • +3

Have you try canceling the order or ask them to match the new offer? They can't have already shipped it.

      • +1

if you paid on 28 degrees CC then you can utilize the 60 day price match guarantee

        • Just checked the fine print on the CC. Price match guarantee only applies if the difference is $75 or more.

Kogan did reply my price match and gave me $29 store credit which was nice :)

  • Nexus 4 16GB was $449 just 12 hours ago but now is $519 (although to be fair they said $449 ends midnight), but still …

    • +6

Its the Aussie dollar plummeting by 2 cents thats caused the $70 increase… :P hehehehe

  • +35

Neg because prices have been raised to include free shipping.

    KOGAN Sucks!

    • +7

Yup I noticed thE same thing! Kogan are dodge MOFOS!

    • +4

      Agree, KOGAN sucks big time

    • +5

They also have non-existant customer service.
      See their facebook "FAN" page.
      BUYER BEWARE

    • Wow, that is low!

  • +8

Kogan is becoming more dodgy and greedy as time wears on…

  • +10

Is it legal to raise prices then offer 'free shipping'? Surely it's baiting, deceptive and 'false advertising'?

  • +6

All lense prices gone up to cover the postal charges. Not cheaper compare to their previous prices including shipping.

  • +2

Pretty much free advertisment, they are just jacking up the prices T.T. No Point.

  • +4

Dodgy stuff raising all the prices ahead of the free shipping offer.

  • +5

If Kogan mobile sims were truly free, then free postage should apply. Neg!

  • +7

Increasing prices to cover the 'free' shipping… come on Ruslan, don't insult our intelligence!

  • +4

taking us aussies for a ride huh ?

    • maybe, but not the Professionals.

  • +6

Bait advertising? Should be reported o the ACCC

  • +6

Free shipping or not, I'll think twice before buying anything from Bogan-Kogan now - purely because of their underhanded tactics.

Btw, loving the long line of negs haha

  • +6

reported to ACCC, lets DDOS these MOFOS- Ozbargain fights back!

    • Did anything come of it man?
You should try with the dept of fair trading they are the right place,
ACCC is just the competition watch dog.

  • +3

Yeh this should be illegal to jack up the prices like that.. NO DEAL!

  • +1

How long Kogan takes to deliver iPad or similar items?

  • +4

Ruslan you're scum. Not the first time Kogan have used unethical business practices.

  • +3

loving my Kogan mobile, but this is a joke.

  • +1

Is this possible the most controversial front page post? Typical Kogan :\

    • +3

Not by a long shot. The DSE deal was negged to death.

  • +1

Was interested in a couple of items, but now see that the free shipping offer is only a marketing trick. Many items have had their prices raised to cover the shipping costs.

    Defeats the purpose no?

  • +2

Dodgy practice of putting up prices to cover shipping, then advertising free shipping. actually its just the normal price inflated to include shipping. no deal!

    • +1

Seems like overinflated price acording to some people above and its probably a breach of the law.

Would be good to get a summary of shipped prices before and after. This is something the ozbargain community maybe able to assist and keep Ruslan honest.

Articles on the web point Ruslan in a very positive and consumer friendly seller, but its not true.

  • +2

I was going to buy the portable AC unit yesterday, but reading about this underhand tactic I think I'll shop elsewhere.

  • +4

Note "storewide" if it were "storewide" they:

    a) Wouldn't have raised the prices on so many things
    b) sims etc…. would be included
Ruslan is always going on about how the big aussie retailers are ripping people off then he goes and does this :S

  • +1

Does anyone know if the Agora Smart TV HDMI Dongle is any good?

    http://www.kogan.com/au/buy/agora-smart-tv-hdmi-dongle/

  • +1

No deal for same reasons as all of the above

  • +2

i agree If Kogan mobile sims were truly free, then free postage should apply at least today with this promo of free shipping. i would buy one to try it if it had free shipping today.

  • Wow. I didn't realize they jacked up some of the prices. Sorry guys! But hopefully this deal is still useful to some people who are after things without the inflated price.

  • +1

    YEAH Hate for Kogan!

for a anyone looking for a rx100 it's price hasn't moved since free shipping, it makes it the cheapest out there at $559 http://www.kogan.com/au/buy/sony-cyber-shot-dsc-rx100-digita…
Amazing camera, worth getting at that price.

    but still DEAD TO KOGAN!

  • +1

have ordered new vacuum and filters $108 free shipping - last week it was $150, thanks OP!

  • +1

With a bunch of exclusions + price rises negating the free shipping this seems a very StoreNarrow sale.

  • +8

Did some investigation as I wanted to see for myself as to if there has indeed been any price manipulation.

Using waybackmachine.org, I was able to bring up their pricing from the 16th of January.

I know there is a bit of a gap (2 months) between the prices listed then compared to now, but as DSLR prices have dropped significantly during this time period (http://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?pu=716218)
I thought I might use the prices advertised for this particular section for comparison.

    Here are the results:

    Canon EOS 650D DSLR Camera - Body Only $549.00 ($509 Jan 16th)
    Canon EOS 600D DSLR Camera - Body Only $449.00 ($469 Jan 16th)
    Canon EOS 1100D DSLR Camera - Body Only $339.00 ($329 Jan 16th)
    Nikon D3100 DSLR Camera - Body Only $309.00 ($319 Jan 16th)
    Nikon D3200 DSLR Camera - Body Only $449.00 ($439 Jan 16th)
    Nikon D5100 DSLR Camera - Body Only $409.00 ($429 Jan 16th)
    Nikon D7000 DSLR Camera - Body Only $779.00 ($809 Jan 16th)

    Further comparisons can be made:

    http://www.kogan.com/au/shop/cameras/dslr/
    http://web.archive.org/web/20130116230641/http://www.kogan.c…

All in all, only specific items seem to have been jacked up and most products are actually on par or even cheaper from the 16th of January.

I think the issue was specific items on special (air conditioner unit & the Google Nexus Phone) had been readjusted back to its original price prior to the free shipping offer causing some confusion.

This DOESN'T mean that prices were not adjusted in tune with the free shipping promotion but I just wanted to provide a more accurate picture for this & to accurately note that it wasn't as wide spread as I first initially thought.

    Hope that helps.

      Good work Sherlock…

  • +2

prices jacked to compensate for free shipping, no deal

  • +2

Shiping isn't free if you jack up the prices.

  • +2

I'm with everyone else on this one. Negative.

  • The few things I looked at were jacked up in price.

Also, bad experiences with customer service / warranty have left a bad impression of Kogan…

  • +2

That is so low… Was about to buy something from them now, but seeing all the neg, I am going to shop elsewhere…

Crap, can't change my positive vote from earlier to negative…

    • +1

You can revoke your + no?

  • +ve vote from me. the items that i'm after haven't increased in price :)

    • What items are they Zelda707?

      • +2

Recently I purchased a Nikon lens and HTC phone from Kogan, they are still the same price now so I would have saved $40 in shipping costs. Not a total failure despite the inflated prices.

      • a lot of the phones are still the same price

  • +2

    no deal.

  • +1

    No deal. As above

  • I'm not as think as you dumb I am! False deal.

  • douche-bag deal…soo…are they going to put the prices back down at midnight?

  • haha, ozbargain got a mention in Kogan's latest status regarding the "sale"!
