Someone might think that scotty didn't know, but I was merely distracted by some other offers! Lenovo has sent OzBargain some "exclusive" deals, which means:

  • Coupon code prefixed with "OZB" [yeah!]
  • However they might / might not be better than their regular coupons [meh…]

So here is one that gives you more saving then their current weekend sale. ThinkPad EDGE E330 base model — $499 delivered when you use coupon code OZBPCQM1 (get $80 off). It has:

  • i3-3120M at 2.5GHz
  • Windows 8
  • 13.3" 1366x768 display
  • 4GB RAM
  • 320GB HDD at 7200RPM
  • 6 cell battry

Cheap laptop that can handle most your uni work and probably not powerful enough for latest games so you can concentrate on study!

Here are other coupon codes — some are not that good but at least it has long expiry (1-31 March Update: expired on 30 April now).

  • OZBUNM1 — 19" monitor (4434HE1) for $99 with any purchase of M-series desktop.

  • OZBACCM1 — $100 off X1 Carbon (excludes touch models)

  • OZBAX15M1 — 15% off X230 and X230T

  • OZBAT15M1 — 15% off T430, T430s, T530

  • OZBAW15M1 — 15% off W530

Note that with X / T / W series you can usually get more than 15% off. 20% off for example, when your configuration is $1,800 or more.

Yeah, Lenovo sent me some exclusive deals too, but I didn't post them because I thought 'I don't think this would make Scotty happy'.

PS The prefix for all my deals were LOL

    • Yes it was cheaper. Lenovo raised the price across the board at the beginning of February for some reason…

      • cpu is 100Mhz faster… therefore $25 more expensive …

Perhaps Scotty should twist their (corporate) arm that wee bit tighter 'cause I don't think any coupon worthy of the OZB designation should be undercut by any earlier discount.

+1 for Lenovo giving an OzBargain exclusive.

  • What's the weight of these bricks?

    • +1

      ~1.8kg

  • mmm a low end video card thrown in and ill bite

  • is this really a good deal… its just an i3

  • If I needed a cheap laptop I would deg look into this one… Kudos for the OZB codes

What I like about the E330 is the main internals are very accessible making for easier upgrades, on top of which Lenovo's maintenance manuals continue to be publicly available, which makes post-warranty troubleshooting for the technically inclined less of a nightmare.

Of course it seems they had to undermine it with this annoyance to do with the HDD bay (there were pics of the issue here but the links are now broken). Still, I'd take the E330 over a sealed-up, internal battery $999 Ultrabook anyday.

  • So… is SSD possible w/ this E330? Looking for a budget laptop for the Mrs for Uni… as she wants something with more grunt than her current EeePC.

    • …and is it possible to downgrade to Win7?

is SSD possible w/ this E330

Here is someone adding a 256GB Crucial M4 mSATA drive to E330 so you get both the SATA and the original HDD.

When he opened the case (at around 1:40) you can see where the hard drive is. It should be trivial to replace it with a SSD as well.

is it possible to downgrade to Win7

Yes. Either to Windows 7 Home Premium ($0) or Windows 7 Professional (~$150 option).

  • Pity the special ozb code doesn't work with the i5 E330 model :/

    • +1

Configure the specs of the base model to be similar to the i5 model, then apply the code. It should work then.

edit: Thanks as well, Scotty, for the OZB codes. So special.

  • Lenovo just contacted me saying that the code is now extended until 30 April.
