  • What are these usually?

    • They're usually PVRs ;)

pretty normal price on older basic model Topfield, but adds free shipping & $20 PayPal discount

      • +1

I must be missing something… When this price is lower than all the others above, includes free shipping and another $20 off then it sounds like a reasonable deal to me. Usual price at Dick Smith would appear to be $397.

        • No - its an OK price, with the extra $20 PayPal discount.
BUT PayPal discount may have expired - only first 700 PayPal orders over $250!
DS site shows it is still available. http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/95006 shows as expired - so check if available. (DS deals include free delivery as over $250.)

Still a lot for an 2009/10 machine with only 500GB HDD (100 hours max of Full HD TV but can add external HDD). (One of the twin tuner PVRs I use cost only $169, with 1TB and can add up to 6TB external HDD.) Quad & series recording can be useful. Better units around, for a bigger price. But with integration of Internet into TVs, there is less need for PVRs.

Often on special around the place with price falling (reported on Whirlpool to be as low as $250 at JB in December; $297 at Goodguys at moment http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/buyonline/Topfield_Twin_Tuner_… ; $296 at HN early January http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/89035), & Topfield reconditioned & guaranteed units sometimes are under $200. Originally released about $699 (but price dropped quickly), reviewed it then & was buggie.

Check those previous deals links & Whirlpool for opinions plus reviews under 'related products' in top right plus http://www.cnet.com.au/topfield-trf7160-339302678.htm

  • NO FREE SHIPPING - tried to order this and shipping was $9.95, having said that they were willing to waive the delivery charge and take the order over the phone but then you cant get the PayPal $20 cash back offer, although they did offer a discount on a HDMI cable when I mentioned the PayPal offer :-)

Edit - you can't buy online and pick up in store, you can only HOLD an item online and PAY in store when you pick it up.

    • YES - FREE SHIPPING! $20 more for Click n Collect!
Delivery fee is subtracted before payment:
      Item Subtotal___$297.00
      Delivery_________$9.95
      Shipping Discount -$9.95
then Paypal gives you $20 into your account = $277 (Still available!)
(I updated OB PayPal $20 deal to show not expired)

But Click n Collect is a reservation service, so no $20 Paypal discount as outlined.

These used to come with a HDMI cable in the box when I reviewed one in 2010. Check the box!
