Samsung 840 Pro 256GB SSD @Mwave $245 Free Shipping (Bargain 24)

121

This is an mwave bargain24 deal (see front page of mwave). Note that product page says $254 but add to cart and it's $245 free shipping.

I realise there is still the Amazon UK deal for less, but this is of course from an Aussie store so warranty may or may not be better supported (I don't know, but it's worth considering) and shipping should be quicker.

For reference and more details, Amazon deal here: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/95538

EDIT:
Looks like ShoppingExpress now may have a better deal - $239 free shipping with a coupon: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/95683
They also have a couple other SSD options in there.

I'll leave this deal up anyway in case somebody likes mwave more than ShoppingExpress.

I bought my 240GB Sandisk Extreme for $199.

    • Thanks for sharing :)

If you're happy with it, I'm happy for you but I don't think the Sandisk has quite the same performance as
the 840 Pro. Some people would specifically be looking for this kind of performance, and Australian-store stock, so I think the deal is relevant.

So how much faster will Windows boot up with this drive compared with my Sandisk Extreme?

        • +1

Depends entirely on the rest of your system. For a basic home system there is little advantage, but that isn't the target of the 840 Pro. Even here though, the better endurance is a good thing.

PS: I have a Sandisk and am very happy with it, but it is not the same as this product.

        • Why would anyone neg someone for asking a simple question? Jesus this sites full of anal retentives sometimes. Take a freaking pill. +1 for MrZ

        • Why would anyone neg someone for asking a simple question?

          Because they can…..

  • +1

    Good deal for sure!!!

Cheapest on static ice.. $254.00 and you will still need to pay for shipping.
PS MrZ.. this drive is much faster then the Sandisk and its a next gen SSD vs (sandisk) Previous gen

    • Next/Previous generation doesn't really mean much in this context, the main reason behind the newer techniques is to reduce cost anyway, so it makes no sense to pay more for them (why at launch it was crazy to buy a 840 when you could get a 830 for the same or less).

  • Lower it to $199 and I'll get 1 :P

    • Dude if I could lower it to $199 I'd buy all the stock myself :)

    • +1

only the non pro fills the $199 price range :) and then you've also lowed the performance to other drives in the $199 price range

  • Cheaper here http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/95538 but I'm not sure about warranty stuff

    • Price seems to have expired, price gone back to £172.97 (Approx. $256AUD)

      http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B009LI7CTY

      • Need to minus the VAT.

    • +1

Umm yeah, that's why I linked to it and also mentioned warranty stuff in my post :)

  • not a bad price at all! I am using the 830 and these 840 Pro's will be the ones going into any newer builds the standard 840 seems to be slower on the write than the 830 but not the Pro

  • I bought one, looking forward to putting it in my MacBook Pro (early 2011 build)

    • Got delivered yesterday, installed and used Time Machine to restore already, it is really fast, it just blows the mind, really happy with the delivery speed and the packaging. Cannot recommend them enough.

      Cheers
