Beat me to it. Good deal. Finally a 20% off games. Been a while on that one.

    • +1

Haha sorry man just saw it now and thought I'd post it. Yeah, it's been ages since they've done some games sales. Hopefully get some deals on the new 3DS releases - hanging for Luigi's Mansion 2. I'll probably end up buying Game of Thrones Season 2 on Blu-Ray as well.

  • +12

    Pfffft. Online only?
If you're going to order online I don't know why you wouldn't choose an international seller with lower prices.

Last time I ordered online from JB it took forever in the post, by the way. Took 2 months or so.
And I recieved second hand goods aswell as goods not described as per the web page.

    • Damn, sounds like you had a bad experience. I personally have ordered online from JB twice - the first time, the order took three weeks to post but for a $5 price I didn't worry too much. The second time was for Game of Thrones Season One collector's edition, which arrived on the dot. Maybe it's your local JB?

    • +4

The only time I've bought from JB online took over a month to ship, so I swore never to buy there online again unless it was an incredible bargain.

    • +1

I buy from JB online quite a bit. But they changed their distribution method some time ago. Now, they find the closest shop with the product in stock and ship it from the shop. So for me, I usually get it in a day or two because my closest shop is 15mins drive. Prior to this, they shipped from a warehouse in South Australia. Smart cookies coming up with the new way imho.

      • +1

It's good when your local has the stock my last order arrived in less than 48 hrs!

      • I'm in SA and I'm pretty sure my order shipped from Melbourne — this was a while ago… probably over a year.

Screw 'em though, they've burnt their bridge with me. I originally bought online from them because I wanted something faster than it would take to order (cheaper) from overseas, and it ended up taking much longer than importing would have.

When buying online I won't be going with them again, unless it's an amazing deal maybe.

  • It sure makes the 2 for $X deals just that bit sweeter that's for sure. Shame it's not instore.

  • +3

Maybe you can buy online and pick up instore?

    • +1

should be able to. just went through the process to see if it would work for bioshock and it seemed to be pick up same day. price with 20% off for PC will be near $56.

      • If you don't mind the wait, Video Ezy has it for $48.76 for 360/PS3 and $36.76 for PC. I haven't ordered through them before but another forum user said he has done so with no problems and around a 2 week delivery period.

        • i ordered far cry 3 from video ezy. took about 9 days from recollection. the only equation is time versus price really.

    • +1

On Facebook, their rep said that instore pickup would be available if your local store has it and is able to fill the order. (or words that that effect).

      • +1

How? every JB Hi-Fi is closed tomorrow… unless they allow Saturday pick-up on a Friday special?

        • During the last 20% off sale, I ordered mine for 'pickup in store' on the last day of the sale and went in the next day. You pay when you make the order, so you'll get it for the sale price.

        • I hope you're right and thanks for the info

    • I just ordered some games at the 20% discount and was able to specify pickup from store, i'll go in tomorrow.

  • Looking forward to the 20% of games. About time!

  • +2

Nice one - the Aladdin Blu-ray just came out and is currently $24.98 on the site, will pick it up tomorrow.

    • Skyfall too…

  • Are some of the prices already decreased? Or have they just dropped since I last saw them? Just cheapy CDs - I know they were more a few weeks ago, but can't remember how much they were.

    • Prices aren't adjusted yet at least their not on the DVD/Blu side

  • Anybody know the shipping costs to SA?

    • +1

      $1 shipping per product.

  • 20% off Sony Readers! Reckon that's a first they're rarely discounted I'd bet that $119.20 is the cheapest they've been. If you are after an epub reader I can recommend them we have 4 in our family(various models)

  • Does gaming cards include ps vita memory cards?

    • By 'Gaming Cards' I think they mean prepaid cards, such as Microsoft Points and PSN credit. Vita cards should be fine

      • Vita cards will fall under accessories, and will not be included.

  • With 20%, Game of Thrones S2 comes down to $34 roughly. Is that cheapest? (DVD, dont really care for BluRay)

  • Thanks OP. Maybe I didnt look hard enough, but what time tomorrow does the sale start?

    • Doesn't say, unfortunately. I'm going to assume early morning, like 9 onwards, judging from past online sales.

      • Ok, thanks. No use waiting 'till midnight then!

  • So what are going to be the best deals people?

  • +3

Nice, perfect timing right after i bought a PS Vita. Ozbargain making my bank emptier day by day…

    • Anything good for the ps vita?

    • +1

Judging by JB's list it'll only be Persona 4, Gravity Rush and Little Big Planet which are amazing games.

      • Sly Cooper came out today, although I haven't heard much about it.

  • OK so anyone know for sure if store pickup is available on these deals? Also is that guitar deal any good for a beginner?

  • +2

Stargate Universe season 1 on bluray - $28 before discount, huge bargain! http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/dvd/dvd-genres/sci-fi-fantasy…

    • But Season 2 never released on Bluray only on DVD. Hate it when companies do this. Won't buy DVD so lost sale from me.

      • True enough, but most places sell the s1 bluray for about $40-90. It's a pity s2 wasn't sold on bluray, but shrug

  • does it include buy 2 get another free?

  • good timing!!! time to get sc2 heart of the swarm

  • Where is the walking dead season 3??? Or am I going blind?

    • +2

Walking Dead S3 hasn't even finished airing yet.

  • Ordered the final fantasy xiii-2 on Monday, received it yesterday (Thursday) very impressed with delivery time. If delivery is that quick its a deal, however any longer and cheaper elsewhere for sure

  • Only time I've ever waited longer than a week for an item from the JB site was when it wasn't in-stock and said special order.

  • +1

I wonder if this sale will start at 12 midnight tonight eastern, or sometime tomorrow… (will check back in an hour)

    • +1

Good chance sale will start at midnight, they usually do

  • Sale started at 12 on the dot.

  • The games begin… GO GO GO!

  • +4

    Gears Judgement for $39.20!

    • +1

Hmm is this a mistake? That's $30 off!

      • Nah, that price is right as they dropped it down to 49 yesterday.

        • Oh ok. Damn, that was quick. Was it not selling well?

        • From what I saw it was actually selling quite well. No idea why they dropped it.

    • I wonder if its even worth $40.19?

  • Blah…didn't know such deal, just bought sc2 heart of the swarm for $44. What is JB returns policy? Can I return to JB & get refund?

  • Its not 20% off. 3ds games such as Luigi Mansion and Monster Hunter before discount $59 and now only $51.22 expecting around $47.

    • Luigi Mansion 2 appears to be 47 clams and pretty sure Monster Hunter was more than $59 before, it was $64 at Plenty Valley the other day, Duder.

      • Nah, it did come up as $51.21 at first. They seem to have changed it in the meantime.

It went through as that much on my order though :( Pain in the arse.

  • I'm rolling in these JB bargains, shattered that I doshed out a heap of coin on anime earlier this week, could've saved more dough for the pros.

  • Damn, could saved $25 last week if I had known about this sale.

    I bought some of these games though;

    • Mugen Souls ($20)
    • Atelier Meruru ($23)
    • Way of the Samurai 4 ($20)

Noticed that Tekken Tag Tournament 2 ANZ Edition is $23 as well! Steal considering I bought it last week for $30 :(

    • Some good prices on the JRPG titles if you're into them. I couldn't miss Way of the Samurai 4 at that price.

  • +1

For those who are after Dark Knight Rises on blu ray it's down to $15.98 in this sale.

I've been meaning to pick this up to watch for a while and this is probably the cheapest it has been. Order placed for local store collection.

  • +1

you could choose pick-up to save freight!!!!

  • Battlefield 3 Premium Edition Sticks out at an amazing $35.20
    SkyFall Blu Ray $19.98
    An Idiot Abroad 1 & 2 Blu Ray's $14.38
Walking Dead Series 1 & 2 Blu Ray Box Set $55.98

  • Ordered. Chose store pickup. Paid at sale prices. Bring on Saturday!

  • +2

I wish they had a "sort by price - low to high" function on the site.
Their "sort by popularity" is clearly bullshit.

    • What are you wanting to sort by price in particular? If you search the words "blu-ray" then sort the results "Price (Low to High)" it'll do exactly that and if you select "DVD Movies & TV Shows" on the right it'll take out all the irrelevant hi-fi stuff.

Btw thought they'd burnt their bridge with you? Of course we're Ozbargainers, can't resist a deal, I hear you, it's in our blood :)

      • +1

Ah, thanks. There's no "low to high" in their main sections, but it's there for search.

"Btw thought they'd burnt their bridge with you? Of course we're Ozbargainers, can't resist a deal, I hear you, it's in our blood :)"
Hah, well I still don't plan on ordering anything to be delivered, but click and collect… $12 for Final Fantasy XIII-2 is helping soothe my raging keyboard.

        • That so cheap, if I didn't already have it I'd buy it, might even buy a mate a copy for his birthday. Thanks for the heads up :)

  • +4

I've never bought a game from JB before. Someone please tell me.. I know in store they have empty cases/boxes. Do you take the empty case to the counter and they give you an unopened copy from the back, or are the contents inside a drawer and they just take it out and put it into the empty box you gave them (EB style)?

I'm pedantic about my goods being factory sealed and unopened, which is why I've never risked buying from JB or EB. I always get my stuff online, which also ends up being cheaper.

    • +3

hm depends, some old games its already in the box
and the newer ones they have the game in the box over the counter

    • +1

They're always opened and covered with annoying stickers whenever I've bought games from JB, but sometimes they have copies without stickers behind the counter if you ask. Still not sealed copies though — at least not in any of the stores I've bought from.

    • +2

It varies quite a bit, a new release game you'll usually get a sealed copy. There might be 90 sealed copies at the counter/out the back and then 10 which have had the disc removed so they can display them. Obviously as those 90 copies sell out, the last 10 people will just have the disc put back into the case that was displayed on the shelf.

Also, some games aren't factory sealed when they come from the supplier, Nintendo is notorious for sending out their new release games without any sort of factory seal.

      • Thanks.

So they only give you an unopened copy if you ask for it, or there are crap loads of them?

JB and EB should just use dummy boxes and have all stock at the back, or use security sealed cases.

I never buy from EB because aside from the price, everything is opened unless you preorder (but you could probably preorder cheaper somewhere else).

  • Are the prices on the website already discounted?

    • Yeah. In the case of 2 for $40 games it'll appear discounted once you add them in your cart. So 2 for $32.

  • -8

i never feel like it's much of a deal when you can't put in the code to get the discount before..cause it's like i swear some of the games (excluding pre-orders) their prices haven't really been reduced.

    • +2

You can always do some quick math to work out if the discounted price seems legit.

For example, Bioshock Infinite for $63.20 (20% off price)

      20% = 0.20
      1 - 0.20 = 0.80
      62.30 / 0.80 = $79.00

Sale seems legit. If your answer come out as a weird figure then the full 20% may not be applied.

    • +2

Prices have clearly been reduced, foolish comment

  • New SC2 Heart of the Swarm for $35

    • $35.2. i ordered last night and will pick it up from a local jb shop tomorrow.

  • game of thrones season 1 +
game of thrones season 2 limited edition is
    $51.87 with the 50% discounted season 1 and 20% discounted season 2 ^_^

    • Hmm which to get? Season 2 Limited Edition or Season 2 Limited Pin Edition…

      • I'm contemplating this myself..

      • I struggled with this, but ultimately got the Limited Edition with the Lannister slip cover. That pin thing doesn't look all that great.

    • dvd….

    • thing is, the HBO 50% discount isn't really 50%. Its 50% off their full price, not the 20% discount price. bastards!

      • +2

        JB Snow.

        • Ten points to you, sir

  • Thanks for the heads up. Just got a couple of games

  • Thanks! just ordered a game for local store pick up.

  • Thanks OP, caved and bought Heart of the Swarm! :D

  • Has anyone got ready for pickup notification yet? Or do we have to wait till tommorow? I paid through paypal and it still says order in progress. Should I cancel and pay through my credit card instead?
