    • It's free postage if you select Standard shipping without insurance (+$2.50 for insurance).
I chose Express shipping for $5.00 more.

      • Ah I figured it out, its free postage to cities only, regional areas are full price

Ended up costing 182, but still a damn good price

  • I have bad experience with DWI and vouched to never buy from them again!

Ordered a GoPro Hero 3 that said "in stock" and was put on hold for 4 weeks without response, and finally responded saying 2 more weeks wait, so i cancelled and refunded. Atrocious customer service !

  • +2

I ordered Sennheiser HD600's from DWI a few months ago - came in 4 days. - no problems

    • +1

Same here. I bought HD600 from them 2-3 months ago and it came in 3 days.

    • They still use DHL Express for larger orders I think, that's why it's quick(er than other HK shops)

  • Why would these be no good for music on the go?
    Just curious :)

  • 2% surcharge with CC or PayPal?

    • Yes

  • Is it better then dre?

    • +6

Spending more than 50 bucks on Dre. is kind of wasting money, personal opinion with no offence.

      • -3

Have you actually tried all the Dre lines or just regurgitating someone else's opinion?

        • +3

I have tried the studio beats by dre. They are really not as bad as everyone makes them out to be but they are EXTREMELY bad value for money.

You can easily find headphones that are less than half of the price which sound much better than them. One thing that is great about them though is the portability, but it is still hard to justify at the prices they charge.

        • +1

what if I say I paid over 300 bucks for a pair of Beats headphone(don't wanna mention which model) from Harvey Norman, and after 1 week's experience, the headphone successfully convinced me to return it. Pretty sadly, HN won't give me a refund, even I rang up FairTrading to negotiate with them, finally they gave me a brand new replacement i.e. same headphone (the whole process took them one month). I am completely upset about this fancy shitty brand(plastic and poor build quality and mixed-up sound from different level, OVERPRICED,terribly battery drain, etc) and HN refused to give me a refund.

what happened next is I kept the unopened new pack and posted overseas to my relative as a birthday present (high school kid loves this fashion and cool looking brand).

You may ask me why did I buy it? I would say I heard so many crazy fans yelled "OMG! BEATS BY DR DRE sounds really amazing and good looking! YOU MUST OWN ONE ! " you know, I have to say my adrenaline was stirred up a lot, also that's why I have a bad image about Beats after wearing it for a week then.

          that's it.

        • +1

          I currently own
          Beyerdynamic DT880s
          Sennheiser HD595s
          and Beats Studio

The Beats have the worst sound of the 3, and the heaviest bass.
That said, when i am on a plane i only use the beats the noise cancelling is not bad. But for listening at home i avoid them.

          Ordered these AD900Xs now too!

    • I don't think Beats are good value for money. Grado or Audio-Technica are better value for money.

      • Sennheiser as well (Just not from Australian Stores, because they never really had a Sennheiser Distro until Syntec jumped in)

        • The thing going for Sennheiser is they are much easier to find locally than many other quality brands such as Audio-Technica. Throw in a 20% discount that JB or DSE sometime has, and the prices can be fairly competitive. The upper end models will still likely require a trip to a hi-fi store, but lower end models and ear buds are pretty easy to find.

        • The thing going for Sennheiser is they are much easier to find locally than many other quality brands such as Audio-Technica.

They also have a lot of counterfeits flying around too :|

Throw in a 20% discount that JB or DSE sometime has, and the prices can be fairly competitive.

Somewhat yes, but that's from the power of grey imports - which is good for the Australian Economy because it forces them to become more efficient.

bloody $3.25 credit card surcharge shows up after already paid without any warning

    • +1

There was a very clearly noted credit card surcharge while you filled in payment info.

  • +2

    Couldn't resist. Damn you ozbargain!

  • Purchased, bit nervous about if they will actually show up on time :/

  • +2

I'll be buying from Amazon.jp instead. It's 16,570 YEN including the fee from Tenso which is about $170 but at least I'll be buying straight from Audio Technica :).

Waiting for my verification on Tenso.

    • 18914 YEN when shipping via Tenso when you account for the weight of item instead of using their shipping example

  • Where can I take it to check for Fake or Genuine?

  • When everyone gets theirs can they post if they think it's real or fake so other people know to buy them or not? Thanks

  • Argh so tempted, but i really don't need another pair of headphones :|
But i have never owned Audio Technica's…

    GAH

btw i've never had an issue with dwi - always prompt delivery of genuine goods :)

OH MY GOD I JUST BOUGH IT! COULDN'T WAIT FOR TENSO!

    $165.73 delivered express + insurance.

  • expired. up to $260 now

    • I've already made my order but I got a reply from an email I sent a couple of days ago:

"Thank you for your email. All of our products are Genuine and original. This model is not in stock now. Please kindly check with us again in 1-2 weeks later."

I hope they have enough stock to ship all of OzBargain's orders … I don't want to wait a couple of week before dispatch … Please don't be some horror stories.

      EDIT:

Just had a look on whirlpool and I see many posts complaining about their sites not updating stock (people buying when it said ships in 1-2 business days etc.) and having to wait an eternity for their purchases. Please! No!

Can somebody who've bought it early tell me if theirs is "Waiting to ship"?

""Waiting to Ship" normally means they don't have the item in stock, it's on their shipping info page."

      T_T

      • I ordered mine yesterday morning. "Waiting to ship" is my status :(
I'm getting it delivered to work, I was hoping it arrives before next Wednesday because I'm on leave for 2 weeks after that. I paid for express shipping too, bit of a waste if it takes 2 weeks for them to ship it!

    • oh i ordered at 11.30am, that was lucky, almost missed out!

  • Closed A900X still $161! I got these as I already have Senn hd595.

    http://www.dwidigitalcameras.com.au/astore/Audio-Technica-AT…

    • I just placed an order on the closed ones A900X and was told via phone that they're currently not in stock and it will take 5 working days for it to be in stock. Likely a generic answer, but I'll see how it turns out.

  • Still listed as $160 for the open 900X's on my side at the moment…

    • Yup, same here.

    • Yeah it still says $160 and it says ships in 1-2 business days.
Mine is still Waiting to ship :(

  • Just ordered mine for $160.63 with $5 coupon code.. ha! wonder if its the real thing.

  • Well just got the mail telling me my order is on back order due to stock. So much for having paid for express priority shipping.

    • Yeah I figure express shipping wasn't worth it for these people. Back order is a good sign probably more likely not to be fake.. but if its takes ages beyond 4 weeks that would be a pain.

    • did they provide an estimate as to how much longer it would take on back order?

      • They say 1 week for every of their back orders.

        • ahh i am pretty sure mine is on back order too but i did not receive an email from them yet.

    • Damn. I haven't received any such email, I ordered about a day before you though.
Kind of regretting paying for the express shipping now though.

    • .

    • They run out of stock yet continue to sell them with the 1-2 day dispatch notice …

  • Price now up to $182.00 and $183.00.
Checked price, was $160, went to order, was $182.00, missed by seconds…..

    • @ $182 its probably better to pay $11 more to get from amazon.jp via tenso.com for $193.80 delivered

  • Hmm random price changes, its back to $160 now down from $182

  • Should I cancel and buy it from Amaazon.jp? My Tenso account is verified now.

    • Depends how much of a hurry you are in ? No harm in waiting, but yeah only $30 cost saving in the end compared with Tenso.

  • My order has been backordered.

    • When did you order?
Mine still says "Waiting to ship". So much for 1-2 business days eh? I was initially optimistic of getting it this week, silly me. If I don't get it by next Wednesday I'll be upset because I won't be going into work for 2 weeks after then and it's getting delivered there!

  • Just got an email from them, I ordered on the 01/04/13.

"Unfortunately we have sold out of the item(s) you ordered, but we hope to receive more soon. If you are happy to wait we will call or email you with an ETA of future availability with in the next 1 - 2 working days as soon as this information is available to us."

I hope this isn't going to take weeks, otherwise I will be cancelling my order.

    • I got the same email from them about 30mins ago (ordered april 1st too).

      • Just got the same email.
I was late to the party though and only ordered on the 2nd.

    • I ordered at around 9:30am on the 1st. It still hasn't shipped had I haven't got an email about it being out of stock :(

      • ordered mine at 12.20am on the 1st and i got the email. maybe you are somehow lucky and yours ended up shipping?

        • It still says "Waiting to ship"

        • so does mine but i got the out of stock email this morning. status is unchanged on their website though.

  • +2

So has anyone actually had theirs posted yet?

    • +1

      Probably 1 or 2, maybe even 3!

That's some low-risk business. Get the $$ from the customer before ordering the goods.

    • I ordered mine with express a few hours after the deal was posted.

Shipped on Tuesday and DHL delivered it this morning to Brisbane according to the tracking.

      • +1

And? how are they?? most importantly - how is the bass?

        • +1

Unfortunately I'm still at work, but expect a comparison to my AD700s later in the night.

        • I'm pretty sure it will smash the AD700 in every conceivable way (the older AD900 did)…

That said, I am looking forward to hearing your impressions.

        • Have a read of this http://headphones.com.au/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7151

          http://www.head-fi.org/t/598823/audio-technica-ath-ad700-or-…

I think the AD900x is an improvement over the AD700 but I dont think its that vast of difference with what I've read… Seems like the Bass is there registering its presence making a more well rounded headset, but probably not a headset for Bass lovers.. I got these for their clarity and open design.

Ha! God knows when I will get mine.. Ordered Yesterday probably a few weeks for me.. :-/

        • +5

          Here goes:-

          Physical properties (vs AD700s)
+ Weight-wise noticeably lighter - I can put them on and turn my head quickly around without noticing the weight like I did with the AD700s
          - Smaller cushions - Soft but not as much as the AD700s, but will be softer with use.
          - Resistance on the wingbands feel much weaker/flimsier than the AD700s. With my small head, the AD700s slip on comfortably and I can keep them on for 6-7 hours straight until discomfort around my jaw sets in. The AD900x are immediately unwearable as the wings do not have enough resistance to stop the headphones drooping downwards past my ears. However, grab a hair band and…
= After tying said hair band around the wings, they are much much more wearable. A level below the AD700s but better than most headphones I have tried.
          = Thinner cord
= Plug has a plastic shell rather than a metal finish
= Strong new headphone smell :)

Sound (Straight out of the box)
I am no audiophile but I do like my music sounding nice and clear.
I do have to say though, moving from the AD700 to the AD900x is a substantial improvement for me. The biggest jump is the stronger bass (finally!) that gives the music more presence, but will still not be nearly enough for bass lovers (an Audio Technica staple it seems). The AD900x feels like an AD700 that can finally be used to play most music well.

Comparing general listening, the AD700 feels like it has a smooth general sound that is coming from a concert hall. With the AD900x, it's a slightly smaller room but the individual instruments and sounds start to move closer to you and leap out from the background more, sounding sharper and clearer.
While high notes/female vocals on the AD700 were already knife sharp, the AD900x does it better. Very high notes sound smoother and vocalists especially sound like they are singing closer, clearer and straight to you - I felt like I could almost kiss the singer in one song.

All in all, I wasn't sure if it was worth $160 when I bought it but I can say that it is worth it now that I have it in my hands. If upgrading from my Plantronics Gamecom 377 to the AD700 four years ago blew me away (from 1->10), upgrading again to the AD900x is a big improvement though not as large a jump (around 10->15). Considering the AD900 way back when was $300+, $160 is a bargain. For those who have headphones below AD700 level, you should jump straight to the AD900x.

Verdict - Loving the improvement in sound; Not loving the comfort as much though it should get better over time (hair band trick essential!)

        • Sounds great, apart from you having to use a hairband to wear them. I hope they're not like that for me. If I ever get them that is :)

        • Great impressions!

I do believe from what I've been reading that with time you will appreciate them more and more as you get used to their sound and start noticing something in the way it presents music to you that you will like more and more, keep us updated!

          And enjoy your new cans!

        • What source are using? On-board? How small would you say your head is? I hope I won't have to use the head ties.

          Thanks,

        • Cheers all, currently I'm using a Asus Xonar DX with 228-320kpbs MP3s/some Flac.

My head size is 58cm in circumference from the forehead if that helps. It just feels as though the AD900x depends more on clamping force rather than the wings.
AD700-Strong wings that holds the headphone from the top of my head, mild clamping
AD900x-Stronger clamping from the sides but the wings can't take much resistance at all

  • Mine still says "Waiting to ship" and I still haven't received an email telling me it's out of stock.
Not very happy, I paid for express shipping on an item that ships in 1-2 business days thinking I would easily get it within 9 days, which is why I used my work address as my shipping address. I'm off work for 2 weeks from next Wednesday. I'd see if I can change it to my home address but who knows if they will even ship them in 2 weeks.

    • +1

Over the years I read all the bad stories about DWI, Purchased these ignoring the 1-2days shipping known full well with this seller its more of a case you will get it when you get it. I wouldn't start to worry until the 2 week mark.

      • Yeah, exactly, I bought express and have not heard anything but I've been around the block with internet purchases to know that this was a "long term" purchase and the only "express" component would be the bit where they actually have the stock.

        • well you only paid for express shipping. they cant ship it to you if they have none left. seems like only the people who ordered within the first 2-3 hours of the deal going up have received theirs already.

i am pretty sure you will be able to change the address with no problems since it has not already shipped.

you will probably receive it within 1-2 day (express shipping) after it is back in stock after 2 weeks. i had a feeling this would be the case so i didnt pay for express myself.

        • Yeah but they lied about the item shipping in 1-2 days. I was expecting to get it in 1 to 2 days plus 1 to 3 days. Not 2 weeks plus 1 to 3 days.

        • Yeah but they lied about the item shipping in 1-2 days.

very true but i was expecting it after seeing that this post had over 4k clicks on ozbargain haha. i was hoping i would be wrong :P. in any case, it still said that it would ship in 1-2days on wednesday, which is very misleading.

    • Email them and ask them for an update

      • I did, just got a reply.

They reckon it'll be in stock next week and asked me to provide my other address.

  • This outfit are seriously dodgy - looks like they just order stuff in as required even though they have them listed as 'in stock'!
I ended up cancelling my order - susprise suprise - not in stock! haha
    Avoid!

    • This outfit are seriously dodgy - looks like they just order stuff in as required even though they have them listed as 'in stock'!

Not really if they're able to source stock relatively quickly..
Brainwavz did that for their M4s (and other sales) and it took a month for them to backorder - I don't see anyone complaining about them, so why the difference in attitude towards DWI?

  • They're still advertising 1-2 day shipment … maybe they're waiting for big amount before they order (so they save $$).

  • -5

    I got mine yesterday
    They are brokeded
I put them on my head
    Nothing would work
I was listening to One Direction and nothing
Then I realised I did not plug them in
Fantastic, its the color of the rainbow in my ears

Now for everyone Bitching abt DWI
    wtf?
How many orders do they process per day?
I got a pair of headphones shipped in 2 days
Everyone gets burnt, but don't start spreading bs abt the company when they're an OS company
Things are bound to go wrong, its your risk
Don't like it, buy from Amazon then

Remember 1 crucial thing abt DWI, they offer 12 month Australian warranty through an Australian authorised agent
You have to send back to Amazon..

As for Headfi, the most BIASED forum re headphones on the planet period
If you want tidbits of info, its OK to read, but to go by the reviews, its pure bias..

for $160, the item is selling like hot cakes, to all that are screaming bloody murder for a 1 week wait, cancel the purchase and buy something similar, possibly for $100 more..
    Or get them from Amazon
    Stop whinging period
I waited 2 months before getting my new headphones, that's how much research I did
so 1 week is hardly a killer by any means

Now back to my One Direction..

    • Good luck with your Australian warranty.

    • +1

I think Kenny G forgot to tick the Rep checkbox :)

  • -1

Called them up and they said they have no stock and it could be a week before they have any more… so I cancelled my order. Sick of companies that take payment when they have no stock to ship out to you. They should only take the money from the card once they are ready to ship the item out.

    • +1

      You cant wait one week??
Lol, enjoy paying 2-3x as much.

      • Why should I have to… it was not advertised as out of stock when I purchased and paid for it. The least they can do is hold off on taking the money until they actually have physical stock to ship out.

I am not going to buy it anywhere else. It wasnt something I desperately needed but I bought it because it was a good deal but not when u have to wait for weeks for them to even ship it out. Lol enjoy waiting for weeks/months
