Also great for buying things from Google Play. Can activate under simplicity or encore, and get the $30 to use for purchasing apps.

Pretty much a 66% discount off the whole Play Store.

    • +2

Can activate it under long life too and that gives you 6 months to buy apps - this is what I'm doing.

      • Thanks ilumination, didn't realise long life would work.

      • you can activate long life and still buy apps?? which plan?

        • +3

the plan is called long life

    • Great Idear will have to get more then

    • What process is required to turn these pre-paid sims into Google Play credit? If I buy 2 of the starter packs, can I put both $30 credits into my pre-existing Google account?

      • +1

You'll have to do credit me-2-u . With prepaid there's a $10 a day limit, so you'd need to do it over 3 days, and there's a 25cent fee every time you do it, so you'd only end up with $29 from each of them.

        <MOD> See correction below

        • -1

Ahh so there is no point buying these if I have an Optus account? I can't just activate the sim card under long-life, pop it in to buy $30 of apps to my Google account and then put my Optus sim back in?

        • +2

It doesn't matter which sim card you use or which network you're with. The Google Apps are tied to your Google account so as long as you use the same Google account it won't matter.

        • There shouldn't be a problem doing it that way as well :-)

        • +2

@c0balt that is what I'm doing and yes it absolutely works. I just take out my normal SIM and put in the Telstra SIM when I want to buy an app.. and then put my normal SIM back in. You get to choose "bill my telstra account" when you pay for an app instead of the normal credit card stuff, but that option only appears when your Telstra SIM is inserted (and for a few mins after you swap back sometimes)

        • You mean this? http://crowdsupport.telstra.com.au/t5/General-Mobiles/Credit…

$15 each time and 25cents charge each time

But there's no place to transfer this to Google Play. Please advise what instructions we should follow

        • +1

Cool, thanks. I'll be getting a few of the deals then. I don't know why someone negged my earlier post. I was asking a question which lead to your your clarification which no doubt will help people out.

        • My apologies people, I obviously misread the post I was responding to and simply saw "into my pre-existing account"

All I know is that you CAN use up to $5 of your credit at a time for purchases in the Google store. As for Google Play accounts (with an accumulative balance) I haven't heard of them I'm sorry.

Again, my apologies if my post has mislead anyone. I clearly shouldn't post in the morning before I've had my coffee fix

        • Make that up to $20 that you can use at a time. (Thanks ozhunter)

  • started already?

    • +1

      Tomorrow :)

  • edit - nope I was wrong woolies is only 1/2 priced

  • +2

Austpost is doing the $10 sale too.

I still prefer Coles because I can get staff discount 5% plus giftcard 5% ($9.00)

    • +4

You can also get the staff discount if your an Auspost employee at any auspost shop, comes to 8 bucks a pop.

  • Coles turn :P

Whats superstores? Is it different from normal coles?

  • Can we get the 3gb without an iPad?

    • +5

Yes but what I done registered for a tablet I go 700mb then went on live chat and said it was for an iPad and they gave me an 3gb (they scewed up and 6gb instead :D)

      • so glad i read your post about 3gb, just did the conversion! thanks guys

  • +2

    What's super store.? lol

  • +2

Love their math skillz, Was $30, now $10, save $20= 1/2 price!

    • +4

Think it says "better than" above the 1/2 price.

  • if i use it in the elite wifi dongle, how much data does it provide ?

    • +2

      maximum data

    • 3gb if you tell them you are using it on an ipad during the registration process

    • I use mine in their Acer liquid metal (1.5y old) and get faster than 78%3gb.

      B+

  • How do you register for iPad? I thought you had to get the iPad Starter Kit. That's what I got from Big W a few weeks ago.

  • When registering the sim just mention its for an ipad, simple as that.

if you activate it via the net there is a selection screen for it. All it does is turn the sim card into a data only.

    • Probably a stupid question but do you get $30 to use on the play store as well as the data?

    • I believe they do IMEI checks on the device. So, you may end up with a cancelled card after a bit.

      • I don't think so, I've run through around 20 of these sims now using them on a 4g wifi modem without issue.

        • Can't you only register like 5 sims to your name/account?

        • I have yet to encounter this issue. Ive got an account already with telstra though.

        • I just went throu all the options (handset, wireless broadband and tablet)on the Telstra online activating system (just before the final click to really activate) and could not see anything about iPad with 3Gb. I could see other offers like long life and something that has 700 MB … I then have to activate via live chat and get 3gb 30 days for iPad.

I donnt have an iPad right now, can i just put it into my phone to do the account setting …ect??

        • You have to call through. The online system doesn't work for this.

  • This is awesome for the google play credit and mobile foxtel.

  • I might get some more, these are so good for the PlayStore.

  • im going for it

  • To register for ipad(and get 3gb of data) should i pick micro sim or sim kit?

    • Teltra will activate the 3gb ipad on any sim.

  • Good. I need a SIM.

  • Hey guys, if you register the starter kit for an ipad (3GB), do you have to use it all in 1 month or does it last for a few months?

    • One month

  • What are the steps to be able to use it on PlayStore? is it easy? never done anything like this…

    • help.telstra.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/21717

  • I've already got one in my iPad. can I throw that out and activate a new one?

    • Yes. That's what I've been doing for a while.

  • -1

For the people buying it for their iPads, if you don't have an android device to buy apps for, think about giving it to someone who does.

Otherwise that $30 is pretty much wasted at the end of 30 days.

    • what?

    • ??? So do you get data & $30 'credit' to use at play store??
I figured you get data or call credit???

    • +1

You can't do that with the ipad plan because you don't actually receive any money on your account. You just get the 3gb. With encore and other voice plans it works because you receive the dollar amount

      • +1

I think you can, but it will reduce the 3gb. Lets say you spend $10 on playstore you will have only 2gb left.

        • +1

I can confirm this. I've bought a few apps on my 'ipad' sim.

        • -1

interesting, when i activated mine i was given a 3GB data pack, not a particular rate /mb which equates to 3gb if you have $30

  • Ah, you are a champion! I was only thinking of trying Telstra a few days ago and now I come across this. Will be the best $10 I will spend for my 3G wants/needs.

  • +1

Can you please add the start and end dates for the promo?

and how do you find a superstore?

  • What superstores are in NSW?

    • +1

going by my Brochure… Gungahlin in ACT or heading north, Ipswich Qld and lastly south, Roxburgh Park Vic. :)

there are more stores but they are your closest lol ie: none in NSW (going by brochure hoping someone can tell us otherwise)

    • +1

Withdrawing support based on this shenanigans. Should have been in catalogue. (+0)

  • Might be cheaper to price match at DSE ;) or see if the staff at your local coles can help…

  • Was this last week's catalogue?

Is the $29 Nokia in the photo the Asha/300?

    • Nokia C2-05 (note from catalogue)

      • I found last week's catalogue. Apparently, this wasn't advertised in the Sydney edition. Only 1 Coles Mobile location in NSW.

  • Just wondering can I get 3GB and use on optus usb modem or Nexus Android?

  • I have an iPhone and a Nexus 7. Can I still use this to buy stuff on the PLay Store?

      VIC,QLD,ACT. going by my catalogue…

  • Bought one from Australia Post. Activated it for my iPad (which only gave me 700 MB) but I'm connecting to Telstra's live chat to get 3 GB.

  • australia post Dandenong wanted to charge me full price $30

    • Corporate retail store or an authorized outlet? If its the latter then the promo price is not valid since its for corporate stores only.

  • thank mate! just brought one at Chaddy colesmobile.

  • I was always wondering if i can maybe buy 7 and transfer $10 over each days using credit -2-u and then when i have transferred all money onto one sim just buy $180 credit with 365 days expiry.

    • .

    • I'm thinking that way too! Some thoughts?

  • Hi, I have a non-3g Samsung Tablet (wi-fi). What would be the best way for me to do this.
Can I register a new telstra account without ever using the sim, then hop online, register my $30 credit and start using the "bill telstra account" option when buying apps in Play?

  • Deal does not specify which stores have this. Where is it specified what is classified as a "Superstore" and what is not, I can not find any documentation on their website about what a Superstore is. Wasted my time going to a fairly large Coles to find that they don't even have SIM cards at all. I will go to Auspost instead. Negging the deal because it's not a deal if you don't know where to go.

    • I agree somewhat there Smeg…but before the internet gave us these bargains you got what you were given by your local store.

O.P. (Ryan) must work or live in the catchment area of a superstore. (to receive a flyer/catalogue)

I actually have a Superstore around 10k from me but i would not bother just for a Sim.

    • Did you try Google? Like you, I went to the nearest Coles, and they didn't have the Starter pack. Came back, googled & found a superstore not too far away, bought 4 packs.

No need to neg just becos you can't find the right store!

      • Where is this list of Superstores you speak of?
        https://www.google.com.au/search?q=Coles+Superstores
        https://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=List+of+Co…

To me, a "Deal" is the "Deal" as it is posted on OzBargain. I am not negging Coles. I am not negging the Coles Catalogue. I am negging the "Deal" posted in the "Deals" section of OzBargain with all that I can see in front of me on OzBargain (at the time I originally saw the deal and decided I will make a trip to Coles for it), there were not any comments that could bring this into question, and it is the "Neg" function which serves as a warning to others to be careful of so that these things are noticed)

At a first glance and the term "Superstore" not using this term themselves to denote a particular brand (unlike for example "Coles Express" or "Coles Central" and Dick Smith who used to have "Powerhouse"), and as such it could reasonably be assumed that the OP simply used the term "Superstore" to refer to a "Supermarket", as the words sound very similar.

It usually helps when posting deals from a catalogue that you check to see if it makes mention of any specific conditions that might be on the front or back of the catalogue or on the same page, or even better post a link to the online version.

where is there a list of coles centrals? :)

        • There are a few around http://imgur.com/a/QNKW4 but if I was posting a deal about one I would be damn sure to specify that it is for Coles CENTRAL only not normal Coles as I know that they are not ubiquous.

    • did you read any of the comments before posting?

the catalogue specifies it's for coles superstores and lists their locations
      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/98627#comment-1318832

there are also coles mobile stores are located in some coles supermarkets
      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/98627#comment-1320718

if you're not aware of either then i'm guessing that there are none near you :(

btw i reported the deal title to be changed with each post above but it seems that a member can only report on a post once

      • As I said, (at the time I originally saw the deal and decided I will make a trip to Coles for it), there were not any comments that could bring this into question

Your first example link is a good example, this is how to post a catalogue deal:
        http://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/62400/9984/001.jpg
Notice the conditions and specific stores at the bottom?

This is how NOT to post a catalogue deal:
        http://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/94456/15702/img_2013040…
Notice how there are NO conditions shown. If there are no conditions shown it should be assumed that the OzBargainer OP has already looked for any conditions on the catalogue and decided that none are noteworthy to include in the picture or mention in the post.
