      OTOH, a larger resolution would be unusual on a 12.5" laptop. More of a laptop that converts to a tablet than the other way round I guess. For me the issue is more that I can't really replace my current laptop with something that only has 128GB of storage. Well that and I don't really need a new laptop anyway.

      That res is fine for 12.5" I think.

      I've got a 12.5" and 1080p resolution is fantastic but with 20/20 vision I do need DPI scaling at 125%.

      Really, it's all about workspace. You dont have enough vertical workspace in 768 pixels to make a laptop useful.

      1600x900 would be acceptable - you can do work with that. Just not 1366x768.

    for that much i can get the lenovo Yoga, which is a much better and modern model.

    Alternatively, go to the Dell factory outlet and get an XPS 12:
    A) New i7 3317, 8gb, 256gb for $1133*
    B) Refurbished i7 3317, 8gb, 256gb without OS disc (but with OS license) $1033*

    Be warned that stock is not easy to secure and that both have 12 month warranty rather than 3 years.
    *Prices vary a bit but this price or better is on there commonly enough - dont pay more.

    Otherwise pay full price on a 20% off sale and you'll get the 3 year warranty and 3537 CPU for $1400. No 3G though.
