I have got a few of them and can confirm the speed. They really are amazing.

    • as can i, got a 64gb one and it's faster than the first SSD i bought a few years back. seriously quick.

  • 2 bucks cheaper than msy… GOOD! i have 32gb, BEST EVER

    • Mighty impressive read speed. Write speed isn't that good, though.

Still great for anyone who wants some spare USB3 flash drives.

  • $2.50 postage to Melb (30xx) - checking reviews now…

      • -3

Ebay's been selling them for ~$10-14 including postage.

        • ?

checked before and the cheapest BIN price was $15.99 with free shipping for a "genuine" refurb from HK

why take the risk of getting a fake

        • I actually bought those ones, they're not fake, but they are refurbished. And if you want longevity, you'll want a new USB

        • Can you tell? Like are there scratches and wear, or other signs it's not new?

And why are there so many refurbs? Were they unreliable and had a high fail rate and got repaired?

  • +1

here is more reviews, with complete comparison

    http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/usb-3.0-thumb-drive-revi…

  • Any comments on the speed when used with USB2?

    • 29.5mbps

      Google knows everything

      • -1

I had it on my USB 2.0 computer and don't ask me how, but it managed to stay a steady 50MB/s transfer rate using the 64GB version

        • +1

Doubt it, you probably have USB 3.0. My USB 3.0 HDD maxes out at 30mb/s on my USB 2.0 PC.

        • +5

Congratulations, you've somehow managed to nearly double the USB2 bus speed limit.

Perhaps you observed 50Mb/s? That is actually 6.25MB/s. Don't get your bits and bytes mixed up.

    • realistically around 25-30mb/sec - fast as you'll see from usb2.
usb3 will see over 150mb/sec given the right circumstances, it actually starts to be reliant opon the spinning disk you're copying to/from :\

    Bought one (impulse buying).
    $17.50 including shipping to NSW.

  • Well, anyone know the promo code for free delivery. Thanks in advance!

    • You'd better be quick - if you spend too long looking for free shipping you may miss out completely! Just grabbed a couple. Thanks OP.

For anyone that is after more capacity there are a fair few refurbished 64GB of these floating around on eBay. Can be had for $35-$40 shipped from HK. Can confirm read/write speeds are as good as the reviews, and it arrived in less than a week from HK. Either way this is a good deal, great drives

  • Good Price. Bought one for $22 from shopping square. Just ordered another.
EDIT: says in store only now. I wonder if the link above skipped checks?

  • Aaaaand they're gone. In the time that it took me to go get my credit card :)

    • it pays to remember your credit card details :p

Being sold by EB Games, like ebay every chance these are refurbished.

    • +1

      It says NEW,

      sure there's the 'possibility'

But with a large store like EB games, I highly doubt it, just saiyan

Spelling incorrectly to be cool but actually using more letters than needed - gold! Just sayin (tic)

  • Going to try instore since it's gone online. Good find!

  • Out of stock

    I would've bought if it were 32GB

Thought id point out that you might want to check which capacity any read/write speed you read are..
the 16GB is not as fast as the 32GB or 64GB versions

  • Thanks for posting this deal OP. Picked one up from Knox. They still had one left.

  • I have the 64GB of this. Write and read speeds of over 100MB/s.

  • i have the 32GB version, really good.
the reason that i didn't buy the 64GB version is it may have over heat problem.

  • i have lots of USBs. But after reading all these reviews and all, now i find myself searching for them on ebay…

so is 32.99 for a 32gb one on ebay good?

  • +1

Tempting but I'm happy with the verbatim from flingshot months back.

  • My Kingston D2 Ultimate G2 wrtes at 70MB per second even better..

    • and the size & price?

    • and has much slower read speeds

  • 16gb, $20

  • Just brought the last 2 from Campbelltown mall eb. I can confirm it can write up to 55mb/s and read 190mb/s

  • Just pick up the last 2 at westfield arndale.

  • Melbourne Swanston St. and Melbourne central are both sold out.

It's worth mentioning that MSY has had these for $17 for months now; if you can't find any stock in your local EB: http://www.msy.com.au/product.jsp?productId=9611

These are fast, no doubt about it; the 32 and 64GB models are essentially SSD in a stick and top pretty much every recent USB flash drive benchmark.

But be warned, they are friggin' flimsy and made out of cheap, thin, creaky plastic that rattles a lot. Be very gentle when you're pulling them out of USB sockets. The slide mechanism I wouldn't trust to survive someone breathing on it too hard, I prefer to use my Patriot Supersonic XT for transporting files on the go, as it's chunky and rubberized and it's already survived several meter drops without issue.

  • got one at the Hervey Bay store. Don't know how many they had. Thanks OP

  • Sold out this morning at parramatta Westfield

  • Just called up various stores in melb and said one guy went to all stores and cleaned them out in the morning… Lame….

    • +1

hmmm you'll see plenty of stock at MSY i guess :D

    • Most stores probably only had 1 or 2 anyway.

      • Bought 2 from Baulkham Hills store. They said that the 32gb one was for $28 but they didn't have any stock left.

        • +1

Are you sure you bought the Extreme and not the Ultra?

        • Yes they were the Extreme. Got them around 2:30pm on sat. There were none on display so I asked the storeperson. She got it out of a locked drawer. When I asked the price of the Extreme 32gb she checked on the computer and said they are $28 but they dont have any stock left.

    • oh we all know who that is coughbrodencough

  • got the last one from Chapel street store

  • Those that are EB World members, don't forget to use your 20% off voucher.
    Got mine for $12.

    • what is this voucher you speak of?

      • EB World members got emailed a voucher this week for 20% off storewide. Valid until late August.

  • Whats a good (solid construction) USB 16Gb or 32Gb from somewhere that offers decent postage (not PC Case Gear)?
