Stumbled across this deal on my daily internetting:

Samsung MZ-7TD250BW 250GB 840 Series Basic 7mm Ultraslim Solid State Drive
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00EPFKL0A

£39.92 [$70 AUD] for each unit. Shipping cost to Sydney was £11.53 [$20 AUD] for me, but I ordered two. Note that price on the site includes VAT and 20% VAT will be taken out at check out.

Kind of a suss product entry with such a cheap price (this Samsung SSD goes for ~$200 locally) and generic description, but it's being sold BY Amazon UK so they don't charge until they ship.

Have at it!

  • I guess Amazon doesn't charge you until they "confirmed" your order. Ordered 2 and no change in my Bank account. So I guess no harm trying. Fingers crossed.

Interesting to see what happens here…..

Tears are likely, hoping they are tears of joy but suspecting they won't be.

    Anyway worth a shot.

I reckon OzBargain will have accounted for at least 3000 orders by now.

Love the guys who are buying 2+ and yet won't even positive vote the deal - FFS…

    • +5

They are not leaving + vote yet cause in case this turn sour they can neg it.

  • In for 3, shouldn't take too long for an email though.

  • -3

It says £47.90 for me? Is it supposed to be £39.92?

    • +15

No. That's just a special price for those that don't read the description.

      • Thanks mate

  • -1

WTH, I walk away from the computer and this comes up …

What a great find… Thanks OP.

    Ordered 4 and +1

  • hi all, i eventually bought the SSD
will this adapter be suitable for transferring data?
    cheers!

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/5Gbps-USB-3-0-to-SATA-22-Pin-2-5-…

    • transferring from what exactly. and why not just connect the drive normally and transfer like that?

      • i want to transfer data from my HDD in my laptop to this SDD then put the SDD into my laptop. the problem is that the ssd dosent come with the cable and was just wondering if this can get the job done!

        • The cable would work. You could also get a cheaper USB 2.0 cable. Or you can do a clean install on the SSD.

Personally I just removed my hard drive and did a clean install on the SSD. Then I got a caddy for the hard drive and put that in the laptop instead of the CD-Rom drive that I seldom used. Now I have the new OS on SSD and the old HDD for storage space.

A caddy costs slightly less than the USB 3.0 cable you showed and also provides a bit better bandwidth.
          http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_sacat=0&_from=R40&_nkw=ca…

        • if you have a desktop pc, just put both hdd's into it (sata) and transfer that way, otherwise, if that's not an option, that cable should be fine.

  • oh man why now?!? I just recently bought sandisk 240gb and this thing just came up?

*If anyone buy 2 try installing it on RAID 0

    • +1

Before you set up a RAID-0 SSD array, search "raid 0 ssd trim" and research your chipset, BIOS, and SATA driver for TRIM support.

  • Dang! Now I need to hope OzBargain can save me the cost of my new Nexus 4 AND a SSD hard drive. ;/

  • +3

    Just checking T's & C's

Looks pretty standard. See what happens.

Despite our best efforts, a small number of the items in our catalogue may be mispriced. We will verify pricing when processing your order and before we take payment. If we have made a mistake and a product's correct price is higher than the price on the website, we may either contact you before shipping to request whether you want to buy the product at the correct price or cancel your order. If a product's correct price is lower than our stated price, we will charge the lower amount and send you the product.

  • hey i just reloaded page and the photo is down, has image placeholder with "no image available" does this mean site is being hammered or item is about to be pulled?

    • +3

      There was never a photo

    • There wasn't an image when I visited the site within a few minutes of it being posted, so I think it was always like that. This isn't the main listing for this product on Amazon UK, but rather a (erroneous?) duplicate. camelcamelcamel only starting tracking the price history of this product page today.

This deal might be big, but I doubt it's big enough to give Amazon's cloud servers grief. :)

  • Bought 2 as well!

  • Obvious pricing error and I am very doubtful this deal will be finalised. Anyway I ordered 2 and see how it goes. Won't be too disappointed if Amazon refused to honour this deal.

  • BTW has anybody taken them up on the gift wrapping option. Just curious to see if I am the only one.

Dispatched from and sold by Amazon. Gift-wrap available.

    • That's the only reason I bought this SSD.

  • +3

How did you 'stumble' across this item?

I tried searching the Amazon site for this product and it doesn't come up in any listings.

  • bought 2 for 91 pound delivered about $160 I think don't need them but a bargain is a bargain lol.

  • +1

Mines coming up as £47.90, am i missing something?

    Edit: Nevermind

  • Got one. Not sure if it will be honoured as the price is too good to be true.
Also, Any idea if this SSD carrys international warranty?

    • You haven't got one yet just because you placed an order. You don't have one until it's on the plane being shipped to you.

  • I jumped on the train and bought one too!

    • Now that I see this, I doubt they will honour 5000+ sales. It's a huge loss considering the margins were low before.

  • If this order goes through, we're gonna be seeing quite a few of these on eBay in a couple of weeks.

  • +5

I currently have 80 cents in my bank account knowing I'll get paid from my casual job $180 on Tuesday. Don't think they'll ship before Tuesday so should be no default fees for me…

Wanted to order 2, even though I don't need 1, but decided I probably also need food for the week. Wish mum was awake, I'd beg her to chuck 2-4 on her card haha. Instead can only get 1 on mine :( Woes of being a poor uni student.

    • Well you're awake and so am I. Wake her up. It's only fair.

EDIT: and DJcap is also awake and potentially so are all of his friends. Get your mum up now.

      • +1

nailsforlunch: Mum Mum wake up! We need to BUY SSDs!

        nailsforlunch's Mum: …I'll SS your Ds…

      • If there wasn't such a high chance of this "deal" being cancelled…

    • You'll get a payment error message and a chance to fix it up if there is a problem with your accounts and assuming this doesn't get cancelled

  • +1

I should probably wake up all my friends NOW!!!!!!!>

  • Seems pretty obvious they left off a 1 from the price. Guaranteed to get cancelled, but they may give out a $5 off voucher as a token gesture, so I'll throwing my hat in the ring.

    • Seems pretty obvious that its not. Why would it be 140£. It's 180$ aud retail. And that's aus stock Australia over priced standard prices. If anything the mistake may be £74 instead of 47 including vat

  • Thanks OP, grabbed 4 personally. One for the laptop, one for the desktop and 2 for… probably chuck it into dad's desktop and keep one as a spare or RAID on my desktop. At these prices it's buy buy buy! I just figured that even if I only need two I'd still be ahead.

  • More Techy people is it possible to have my Windows install on the SSD then install my programs like steam, games and programs on another hard drive? Would it be possible to have Program Files on another drive or they need to be on same drive as Windows?

I want to use the SSD for windows and my documents and everything else goes on normal hard drive.

    • +1

Yes. That is the way 90% of people with SSD's use them.

      • Would I be able to clone my hard drive onto the SSD then transfer my program files to old normal hard drive?

  • -1

It's going to be cancelled guys. Seriously.

    • +1

I know. I'm staying up all night just waiting for the email.

    • +10

I heard Tom Waterhouse is already taking bets on how many negs this deal will have on OzBargain by the end of tomorrow.

      • +1

I heard Gai chatting to the boss of amazon so be careful with the odds.

      • Can't be that many with so many upvotes though (though revokes could make it happen)
