Stumbled across this deal on my daily internetting:

Samsung MZ-7TD250BW 250GB 840 Series Basic 7mm Ultraslim Solid State Drive

£39.92 [$70 AUD] for each unit. Shipping cost to Sydney was £11.53 [$20 AUD] for me, but I ordered two. Note that price on the site includes VAT and 20% VAT will be taken out at check out.

Kind of a suss product entry with such a cheap price (this Samsung SSD goes for ~$200 locally) and generic description, but it's being sold BY Amazon UK so they don't charge until they ship.

    Food for thought. The order says: "Sold by Amazon EU S.a.r.L.". Can't we imply from it that the transaction is actually complete. The payment has not been deducted from the credit card because of Amazon's own business practice of charging the account when the item is prepared for shipment.

  • So fund transfer has to take place for transaction to be complete.

    It appears then that e-commerce is safer from seller's point of view, as if there's a system pricing error in a brick'n'mortar store you have fair chance of getting the item for substantially less. Happened to me once at Target, when I got a Pyrex 6-piece set for $15. I sussed it was a pricing error but the sales staff did not object when I paid.

    Sorry All. My order has been amended by Amazon, I had 2 SSD and a Cluedo in my order and now there is now only a Cluedo. They haven't yet contacted me though which is quite unexpected.

    Just found someone on Gumtree selling 6 of them, I called him. Exact model number and he said "I'm waiting for them to get shipped to me, they are coming from England and it'll take 10 days"….

    I should call him back and tell him that they aren't honoring them, he ;)

      You might find that amazon will cancel the orders and then send the email. Remember most people don't sit on ozbargain.com/amazon.com clicking refresh every 5 minutes.

    My order has been cancelled as well. One other item is still remaining on the order. They should at least send an email about cancellation. Now i will cancel the other item as well, as the shipping cost for just 1 item does not justify buying that item.

    The items are just gone. They should atleast have the item and then shown as cancelled rather than the item just vanishing.

      Not just a number of orders it would be all the orders. I've been saying this for at least a day now Amazon UK will cancel the orders as they don't ever honour pricing errors.

    The irony is if it was from Amazon US you might of had a chance since they some times honour pricing errors (such as the $1 blu-ray movies) but when it comes to Amazon UK there's no chance.
