      • i tried to but some info in the fine print "The Citibank Signature Primary Cardholder will receive 2 complimentary lounge visits each year. "

        • Yes - let's see if that really is the case. No harm in trying.

    • Only two lounges in Australia ? pass on the prioritypass.

      • don't fly overseas?

    • Happy to report you CAN get (at least) TWO Priority Pass memberships for free - One for the Primary Cardholder, and one for the Secondary (or more?) cardholders.

    • @Randomdude, Do you still have the code?

  • When I click apply it brings me to the same application site as the standard website link (ie with 299 annual fee). I'm just wondering how does this work? How would Citibank apply the no annual fee for life?

    • Acc. to previous comments, it is not online anymore. Call them to get it and make sure it is free for lifetime. Keep the date, time and the person you spoke after opening the account. In case anything happens, you can always refer these calls.

    Platinum is the new bronze.

    • True.

  • +1

    They approved my application instantly.

I called right after because I made a mistake in the application, she goes, don't worry about it, it's already approved lol, cool!

  • Maybe some people with experience on Balance transfers could comment at https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/140302 regarding getting a cash advance from an old credit card and then doing a 0% interest balance transfer from a new card. Thanks

    • +1

Can't comment. But just ask for a cheque to self. Citi are handing them out

  • How does the Priority Pass free entry (2 times) work? Will they put through a charge to my credit card and then later rebate/credit with the same amount? I have taken up the 0% balance transfer offer so I cannot have any charge to my account until I pay out my BT amount (otherwise it'll trigger the interest calculation).

    • You just present your PP card - I believe the first time is waived by PP, the second time is rebated by Citi.

    • Not sure about the second time, but I didn't get charged when I used the first free entry @ KLIA.

      • Thanks. Did they have to see your Citibank card?

  • I wonder if I should cancel my Westpac 55 Day Credit Card, as this does the same thing, but more.

  • Under a normal priority pass membership, when you enroll, you give them credit card details. (You should be able to see which card they have on your account if you log in ) You have a certain number of entries allowed on your initial sign up. These can be used for your entry, and also they can be used for entry of an accompanying guest (1 credit per person). You can continue to enter lounges after your credits run out, and the additional entries will be charged back to your credit card. At the lounge all they want is your priority pass membership card. Usually at LCCT they take your card for 5 or ten minutes and bring it back to you in the lounge later. Sometimes it takes a while for the number of entry credits to come off your priority pass membership account. Sometimes the lounge at LCCT stuff up and you dont lose an entry credit at all :o) If you go to your account you should be able to see how many entry credits you have on your account. You should also be able to change credit cards on your account.

    • Great. I thought I can't bring my Mrs in with me when we travelling together. Yes I don't mind if she is using my credit. I believe I have only two from citi signature card

    • "also they can be used for entry of an accompanying guest (1 credit per person)"

I'm pretty sure that's incorrect. You can guest a person by paying US$27 but you can't use your free credits.

The free guest is only for the unlimited Priority Pass membership with the Citibank Select card, which is not the one people are signing up for here.

      • I repeat "Under a normal priority pass membership"!! I can attest to the fact that YOU CAN guest a person using your entry credits. I have twice had the 12 month membership which has 10 entry credits attached to it, and on both memberships I have taken a guest in using my credits without paying for the guest. Under the Citibank Priority Pass membership I cannot say one way or the other.

        • But that's not the one that comes with these cards, since they only have two "credits" (i.e. free entries), not 10, so despite your good intentions you're supplying misinformation - e.g. erwinsie and others here obviously have the cribbed version of the Priority Pass that comes with bank-issued cards such as Citibank Signature and Westpac Altitude Black, and is not the "full" Priority Pass which is what you have.

        • I understand that this membership might not function the same, but I was giving the readers the benefit of knowing how a "a normal priority pass membership" works!! If you have ever had "a normal priority pass membership" then please tell me which part of what I said was incorrect!!

        • -2

On going back and re-reading your posts, I appreciate now that what you've said is not incorrect, however I'm not sure what your motivation was in posting that information since it is not at all relevant to this bargain post/discussion (maybe other than attempting to promote full PP memberships?)

It has caused at least one person to be misled into believing that the PP membership they receive from Citibank works in the manner you've described for a "normal" PP membership when it actually doesn't.

At least the issues are clear now. You've stated your piece and I've made the necessary clarifications for the purposes of this discussion.

        • My motivation is "to share information with other ozbargain members". For information I do not currently have the 'normal' PP membership, because I now get free lounge access through Diners Club - $135 per annum for Diners Club. This is a much better value way to go than buying PP membership. However I still think that people 'MIGHT' be able to guest someone on the Citibank Priority Pass membership '2 entries' allowance, AND THERE IS NOTHING TO LOSE BY TRYING.

  • +2

Sounds great Peck, I was looking for priority access for my trip in a couple of months, Ill try to get my friend in as well but if it doesn't work $27 is still a great bargain for two people.

    • I agree. Not to mention some have food and drinks too, which you will easily pay that much for out in the airport terminals.

So $27 for a nice place to sit and wait peacefully is still a good deal.

  • do u have to provide payslips when applying?

    • If talking about Diners Club, not necessarily payslips, but proof of income. Further questions on DC. plse go to https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/107232

    • @Johnster: …on the other hand if you're asking about this card/deal from citibank, the answer is it depends.

Yes, it is likely you will have to supply payslips if you have them, as well as any other income statements, the less formal they are the more documentation you will have to provide and the slower the application process is because of the back and forth (myself and a few others have provided rental income on the application, but then after being conditionslly approved, have had to provide tenant rental agreements and official bank statements not just a csv export or screenshot of Internet banking which can be a hassle if you don't go through a rental agency!).

If you want to be approved for the highest amount possible in order to maximise your 0% BT then it's worth declaring as much as possible and jumping through the hoops but if you're just going for the $15K minimum (Signature) or $6K? (Platinum) credit limit then just declare your main income and make it simpler/easier on them as some people have mentioned doing.

      IMO. YMMV.

be warned i used to have the normal pp and got charged $27 for taking a guest in even though i asked at reception to use my second credit on my amex a few years ago and i imagine this one is the same. can anyone confirm that signature supplemantry card holders do in fact get free entry if they have a prority pass……? anyone try it? on another note anyone with a credit limit under 15k manage to persuade cb to upgrade them to the signature card?

  • anyone doing balance transfer (cheque to self) have you confirm the last date we have to pay all back? seems more than 6 months on my case but they said it is because of my billing cycles.
cheque date is 19 january 2014, they said i have till 3 of August 2014??

    • Same here. Just over 6 months.

  • I signed up for this and it activated last month, but just got charged a $300 annual fee. wtf?

    • is the $300 the annual fee? as the fee should be either $195 (Platinum) or $395 (Signature)

    • What does it say in the annual fee section of your schedule of fees that was attached to your card when you received it in the mail?

      • It says $299 in that section

  • Spoke to Citibank as they approved me for a Platinum Card when i applied for a Signature Card and was advised to send a letter for reassessment.

Done so via fax on 1300 301 304 with payslips, group certs, etc.

    now to wait.

    • not sure why, but wifey and i got approved for signature without sending in any income proof. we got the cards about a month ago, and i also got priority pass (they came within a week)
Maybe because we were existing citibank debit card customers?

      • I am also an existing debit card holder too! :)

  • Received an SMS today saying "We have replaced your card as per your request. The reference no is: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx .

Called Citibank today and they confirmed I have now been approved for Signature! :)
Now to wait for the card to arrive in the mail.

    anyone know how long?

    • Mine took 3 days from the sms, i was surprised as i didnt send in any documentation at all, they just rang my employer and it was done!

These are the best fee free credit cards I can find to date

Sorry but I disagree with this assertion.

The Bankwest Zero Platinum Mastercard is currently the best credit card in Australia, provided you can qualify for it.

It has no annual fee, has travel insurance and price protection insurance and also offers zero currency conversion fees.
    http://www.bankwest.com.au/personal/credit-cards/compare-cre…

This makes it the ONLY credit card product in Australia that has:
    1. No annual fee for life (this is not a time-limited promo but a standard feature)
    2. Has multiple insurances as well as the concierge service
    3. No foreign currency conversion fees.

If you can't qualify for this card, you can check out your other options in our comprehensive free report.

    • Got a link without the FriendFace BS?

    • +1

      but no points?

      • and no free wine, priority pass nor domestic rental vehicle insurance excess :(

      • rewards points are overrated IMHO.

What good are they? How can you determine their 'value'?

I would much rather get something that I can easily put a $$ value on, such as not paying for currency conversion when shopping overseas.

Frequent Flyer points, Flybuys and other so called 'reward schemes' is a total BS IMHO. The only ones who benefit from them are their providers, not you.

        • Reward points are something for nothing. They are essentially paid for by the merchant and by the interest paid on credit card debt. If you are smart and pay off your balance every month, and avoid merchants with credit card surcharges then you can get plenty of value from points.

  • Received my Platinum card today but wont be activating it.
Still waiting for my Signature Card to arrive this week sometime otherwise will be calling Citibank again.

  • Just called Citibank to confirm my Signature card and was told the reassessment take 7-10 business days and the SMS i received is for a name change on the card which i did not request.

Looks like I am still on Platinum for now.

Mind you this took over an hour to find out this information as Citibank didn't know what i was talking about.

Not Happy Citibank with your Customer Service skills!!!

Just a courtesy comment. Happy to be corrected if im wrong. The 6 months will be rolling around for me in June, for some of you it is rolling around sooner. You must pay off the entire transfer within 6 months. Otherwise, on expiry of 6 months, the full interest rate applies to the full remaining (outstanding) amount from the date of transfer, as if the 0% promotional rate never existed. I have not looked at citi's terms, but that is how transfers have worked on other cards/banks.

    • Just do a balance transfer to another bank. Lots of 0% offers at the moment, most up to 12 months or more.

      • just do a balance transfer to another bank

Be very careful with making such suggestions. Each credit application is recorded on your file and too many of those in a short time, could make you look as a high risk borrower to future lenders.

A good rule of thumb is to not apply to more than one loan product (and a credit card is definitely a loan product) of the same type in a 12 month period.

The above does not apply to other credit contracts such as a utility account or a postpaid telco plan. You are free to go crazy with these :)

      • Yes that's an option, though I agree with gimni. But same rings true, don't let the 6 months expire if your new card approval is delayed.

    • Mine isn't rolling around until July. I asked Citibank for the precise date, and got written confirmation of the precise date by which I have to make the transfer :-) But thanks for the heads up!

      • When is your account open date and when do you receive the BT?

        • Can't remember the exact dates, but it was near the end of November.

  • Do any of the benefits such as complimentary travel insurance cover your additional cardholder - or just the primary?

    • +1

Do any of the benefits such as complimentary travel insurance cover your additional cardholder

      yes :)

  • Just got instantly approved for the Platinum! Don't have enough income for the Signature as I'm still a student, but I think being an existing customer with their savings account may have helped. Also only requested $6,000 limit as I don't need anything more than that.

  • Citibank are so useless!

Re-assessment still on going, been 1 month since i submitted it and was promised 10 business days max.

requested compensation which they offered 2,000 reward points.
