    • Maybe AMEX already know that. Apple probably AUTH your cc though?

Hopefully it will all work out.

      • Spend $500 at the Apple Online Store or any Apple Retail Store during 29 Nov 2013 to 5 Dec 2013 to receive your $50 Statement Credit

i would say if its charged before the 5th it will still be fine.

    • @j1568, just wondering if you were charged a foreign transaction fee when you used your Amex to purchase the Minis online.

As per Apple AU's website RE "Will my Apple purchase attract additional bank fees?"..
Their answer is: "Apple's Payment Processor (Merchant Bank) is in the UK. Please check with your card issuing bank regarding additional services charges applied by your bank. Any service charges imposed by your banks are not reflected in the order value on the website."

      • +1

Not sure about this current order as it hasn't appeard on my card yet but you can see its been charged as my credit limit drop. But from previous purchases, all I get charged is what they show on the invoice so no foregin transaction fees.

        • I see. Thanks for your reply. I was concerned if they charge foreign transaction fee 3%, then then that will just about kills off the deal.

  • I wanted to get an Ipad air 16G Wifi. The apple online shop is selling it for $598. Even after $50 cash back from AMEX, I can probably find better deal elsewhere.

    • Wait till friday

      • I am also waiting ;-)

      • do you think it will be that much cheaper?

    • I just got one today, white 16Gb wifi only, xmas present for mum.
I asked if they can match BigW's price and the girl went to ask the manager, she came back and said they normally do pricematch but bigw doesn't have stock so they wouldn't do a better price. I told the girl Rockdale NSW BigW has stock and i asked her to call to confirm. She left, came back after 2 minutes(i don't think she bothered calling) and accepted to pricematch. Price= $566(- $50 AMEX)

      • so you missed on 29th?
        29th purchase = $590.50 - $50 - $75(store card with no expiry) = $465.50
        30th Purchase = $566 - $50 = $516

        • don't Ipad Air prices start from 598$ @apple store?

        • it is but at the time of checkout on 29th Nov (online & in-store), it was showing $590.50

  • cool

  • “$500 or more in MULTIPLE transactions…" so I will have to buy a iPad mini then may be a cover separately?

    • terms say "AN Eligible Transaction"

  • Enrolled! Let see when the $50 appears in my statement…
    Thanks OP!

  • I wonder if they will have the new retina mini's in stock on Friday in store. Been waiting to get a Mini so this is perfect

  • Sucks :( just picked up my 128 wifi/ cell iPad air and mini retina from them last week and paid with Amex too!

I'll take it on the chin, my own fault for being impatient.

    • refund it when you get the new one

      take the new one back

    • They have 14 days money back guarantee, even if they are already used.

      • What does Apple do with returned stock? Do they sell it as new, or discount it as sell as refurbished?

        • Just guessing…
Might use them for demo. Or refurbished.

        • Unopened returned stock probably resell as new. Opened then probably send it back to factory to be strip and parts used as refurbised parts. They can't sell it as new or refurbised once it's opened as its no longer considered new and refurbished needs to go through their refurbished process.

  • Registered. Thanks OP!

  • Does Amex know if an item is being returned if you put it into a different card? Let say you buy an iPhone $869 + buy something worth $131+ Split the payment into 2 (to get 2x credit - utilising supp. Card).

Then few days later you return the $131+ "stuff" and load it into their gift card (say you forgot to bring the card or something). So technically there is no return for amex (no credit in the transaction list). Thoughts anyone?

    • What's the point of doing this? You still have the use the gift card down the track and you still only save $100 whether you use it on Friday(probably more as it's a one day sale) or down the track with the gift card.

  • Why is there no Apple Retail Store yet in Melb CBD??

    • Wished there was one in Melbourne CBD.

Hope they open in the new Emporium Shopping Centre on Lonsdale street.

    • +1

Because they felt sorry for Perth and opened up 2 Apple stores ;)

  • Deal is on! Good price on Air.
Damn, iPad mini with retina is not part of the sale. didn't expect that coming..

  • Aw, the new mini doesn't get a deal. :(

  • Did they change the T&C, I cannot find where it says "spend $500 or more in multiple transactions". not sure if it is with one or multiple transactions

  • Does anyone know if the velocity earn 4 points for $1 spent http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/122739 works with this deal - is velocity an online aggregator?

    • Hmm… I used that to go to the Apple online store… I hope it isn't considered an online aggregator. CC was charged 4th Dec, showed up on statement 6th Dec… Guess I have to wait til next Friday to see if I get the $50. Didn't get an email either… Fingers crossed!

  • Anybody received email confirmation after purchase the qualifying amount?

    • Did you order online? Apple don't charge your card until they are in process of shipping it out. That's why I posted earlier to becareful of what you order. If there is a time lag to process the order and if they process post 5 December, you may not get the $50 credit.

I ordered two ipad mini last weekend. One shipped, the other in process of shipping, so I am hoping I may be able to get the $50 credit as both purchases have not shown yet on my card.

      • That's not entirely accurate, the charge has shown up on my credit card after I made a purchase early this morning.

        • Maybe it depends on what you order. If the item is available immediately, then perhaps they charged straight away. As I ordered the ipad mini with engraving, the charges only appeared when the status change to preparing for shipping.

        • Sounds plausible since I ordered mine without engraving.

        • I ordered iPad Air 128G wifi with Engraving and just got an Amex notification by email (I programmed it to notify me if I spend more than $100). Amex charged $816.50 for Apple Store. That would imply the $75 gift card was taken off the purchase price. Hope the statement credit come through too.

        • Finally the first ipad mini charged shown on my card. Ordered on 24 nov. They placed a reservation charged on you card to check whether your card valid and have enough credit sometime before shipping. When finally shown on my card the date is the 28 nov processed on 29 nov. Ipad mini was sent out on 27 nov late afternoon. Because of this better be careful when ordering online as it may not appear on you card pre 5 dec and Amex might not give you the $50 credit.

      • I went to their store to buy iPad Air. I did order online but then I cancelled it because I couldn't wait that it will take a week to process.

    • Have not got a confirmation email as yet (and I made qualifying purchases on 3 different AMEX cards).

      • Same here

  • I registered with my CBA issued AMEX no problem. But the T&C's state: "Only American Express Cards issued by American Express Australia Limited are Eligible Cards. The following are not Eligible Cards: American Express Business Travel Accounts, Business Cards that are affiliated with a wholesaler partner, Government Cards, Corporate Purchasing Cards, Corporate Meeting Cards, Corporate Cards and cards not issued by American Express. Supplementary Cards qualify as an Eligible Card only if registered for the Offer separately." The word here is "issued". This says to me… my card is not eligible?

  • "…and spend $500 or more in multiple transactions with the Apple Online Store or your favourite Apple Retail Store…"

Does this mean if you purchase just one expensive item over $500 that you will not get $50? This of course will stack with the Black Friday deal Apple has right now. Pity the retina iPad mini is not in it though.

    • U meant the Black Friday deal YESTERDAY?
Unless you are in a country that is Friday today.

      • Lol. Just saw the country reference. Yes. Still active in the USA.

  • Maximum number of eligible cards reach. Was limited to fist 5000 cards registered only. Deal has expired.

  • Is this already expired?

  • Did every receive their email confirmation? It's odd. I didn't receive mine this time. I bought an iPad Air..

    • I did not receive any email confirmation when I bought my iPad in store on Friday. However, I check that the $50 credit is in my account today so I suggest that you check your account too.

  • No, I bought a mini on Friday.. No emails received……

    • Ipad Air on Saturday, no emails yet

    • Bought Ipad air on Friday.. No emails and no credit as yet.

  • FYI I received an email and the $50 credit in my account already:

28/11 - Purchased MBA 11 for $899 at apple retail store in sydney using amex card
30/11 - Received amex "congratulation email" - Your $50 credit back for spending $500 will be issued to your registered Card account.
2/12 - Checked amex online account, shows $50 credit for 29/11

    • I got my $50 credit today too, but did not get any email.

  • +1

Does any of the Bank's Amex received credit too?
Or only DIRECT Amex received the credit?

  • Deal has reached it's limit…

  • If my Amex is registered at https://www.amexconnect.com.au/ but when I tried to register at https://enroll.amexnetwork.com/AU/en/apple-2013/ it says maximum reached… does this mean that my card is registered for the Apple $50 promotion or do I need to register my card again specially for the Apple $50 promotion?

  • Does anyone know if the $500 has to be in ONE transaction or can be spread over multiple?

    • would also like to know. thanks

      • i did it in one transaction and got an email and the refund already

  • Received my $50 credit from my American Express issued AMEX card today. I did not get my credit on my CBA issued AMEX card.

I guess the deal is really only for American Express issued AMEx cards.

    • I used my CBA issued AMEX card too.

      Just read into T&Cs:
Only American Express Cards issued by American Express Australia Limited are Eligible Cards

      S**t
Next time don't get too excited when seeing AMEX promotion again.

      • Give it 5 working days after the date that is displayed on your statement before calling them. A few of us have not been getting any confirmation emails after purchasing but still receiving the $50 credit.

I have received one of mine, but waiting for the supp card to get it as well. Hopefully it will be shown tomorrow.

      • I got the refund yesterday on my bank (NAB) issued card.. So it looks like it's not limited to only Amex issued cards.

      • My refund came in today. Don't sweat it buddy.

    • We did try to warn you.

However, if the registration of your card was accepted then try contacting Amex and see what they say.

      • opps, didn't see that warning.

However I did receive registration confirmation email also another following email reminder me to spend $500.
        See how it goes

        • let me know if you contact Amex regarding to that. & the result.
If you happen to contact them, also share the contact details please

        • no prob will do

    • Ditto - I got $50 credited to my NAB issued AMEX card. Credit was dated 2 Dec.

  • No credit, no confirmation eamail as yet. How you guys contact Amex about this offer? I couldnt find a phone number.

    • T&C says it might take 5-8 business days, when did you make the purchase?(i'm still waiting too)

      • I ordered on last Friday. What I found unnerving is after my purchase I received an email reminder about this cash back. I wonder if I registered on incorrect card number..

        • update: purchased an Ipad on the 30/11, got the $50 today 4/12 on the statement but the credit has 2/12 date on it. Haven't received any purchase confirmation email, only 1 email when I registered the card for the deal and a reminder that the deal is still on.

  • I received a email 2/3 days ago when this was first posted that my card was registered and also a reminder to use the credit the following day.

Today, I phoned apple and got 10% off over the phone matching the good guys 10% off deal paid with westpac earth black amex card.

So apple does price match they just needed to confirm it.

Will see if credit applies on statement.. next few days as they have already charged my cc.

  • 3/12/2013 21:10 Update: it reached the max no.

    Sorry

Unfortunately the maximum number of Cardmembers have already enrolled for this offer. Please visit https://www.amexconnect.com.au/ for other fabulous offers.

I purchased iPad Air on 29/11 using CBA issued Amex. $50 credit has just appeared in my account overnight with a transaction date of 2/12, but no email received about the credit. For those with bank issued cards, be patient, it will happen!

    • +1

same here :) received 50 dollars on my CBA AMEX card. no emails received.

  • Still no credit. Damn…

    • Still waiting on my $50

I got emails saying I was in and I spent $3k at apple

  • woot got my refund. CBA amex.

I bought the mini retina and could not pricematch (cos they dont do it on new ones).

glad i stuck to my guns cos the other alternative was to do dick msith which was $25 cheaper.

  • Still waiting….

    • Me too… I received no nothing.

    • Got it~

  • haven't got anything on CBA Amex, two transactions combining total $515. May be that's why(not in single transaction), I wont get $50 back?
transaction cleared yesterday though ordered online on 29th. Amazing that transaction shows Apple Store Singapore!

    • T&C states clearly "multiple transactions" so it shouldn't be a problem. Apple transactions usually show Singapore, it's normal

    • If the transaction cleared yesterday give it 5 working days from that day.

I got both of mine and appeared about 4 days after payment cleared on my card.

      • +1

        Got it today!!!

  • So i made a purchase online on the 3rd which was last Tuesday checking my statement today its showing this…

6 Dec 2013 APPLE STORE SINGAPORE SINGAPORE AU 1,304.09

Curious if i will get the $50 now!

  • OH NO ! I made my purchase from the Apple store on the 5th and for some stupid reason, it was not processed on my statement until the 6th !!

Does this mean I won't get my credit.

My card is with Westpac and they simply had no idea about AMEX offers when I called them. Its useless. And when I rang AMEX, they told me to ring Westpac. No one has a clue.

    • Mine also with westpac.. earth black card

Anyone with westpac already get the credit ?

    • I post a warning a few time in this post that Apple do not process the charges straight away on some online orders and to be weary with it. I found that they do an initial charge to the card, but then do an actual separate charge when your order is shipped.

If you don't get the credit then you will probably need to chase Amex up and show them prove that you order during the promotion I guess. They will not be able to use what's been processed through your card and because of that may not give you the credit.

      • I actually purchase in store on the 5th, which AMEX recognised. It appears to be some Westpac delay.

And just to confirm, I managed to get the credit as at 9th Dec :) happy days.

        • Great to hear you got the credit. In store is fine as the actual transaction will take place on that day. Online is the issue as Apple can delay the actual charge to the card.
