    • if ya can find one , have tried a few but no luck

  • good found, wish it is a dual sim.

  • Sadly, only 512mb RAM…..to be expected at this price point I guess.

  • Is there a way to unlock this phone after purchasing it. I wanted to use it with my amasim service

    • Look in the forums for a post by bagman.

    • Or you could have a look on AliExpress/Taobao if you can read some Chinese. They can do it with a much cheaper price. Eg. $15 CNY / $2.5 AUD.

      how is it better?

    • +1

doesn't look better to me…at all.

    • Cheaper yes, better? not a chance. Y300 has a larger and higher res IPS screen, dual core cpu. Other than the once $99 Huawei G525 it has been the best sub-$100 phone for a while.

    • I have both these phones and believe me the y300 is way better

Dicksmith has been this price for the last two weeks.

Why didn't you post it then?

      • People, I am not feeling the love….

        Coz it's not a bargain?

        • +1

Meh.. sort of is, damn good value for the money.

        • Could well be, I was just assuming due to the lack of votes at the time :)

I'll be more impressed when they can "Ascend" Android v4.4 to its pre sent Operating System, instead of this darn clunker that would be 18 months old !

Enthusiast needs versus general population keen on budget phone (that couldn't care less about android versions).

    • +1

Selective by all means necessary, except that Software need to get along smoothly, on bare bone pieces as 512 M-RAM. Now, I know that's what 4.4 were developed for, yes.

      • Strange that KitKat supposedly sips less ram and runs better on 512MB RAM devices when the bulk of the low-ram hardware devices is probably behind us. It's always nice to get better optimisations though.

  • sorry for the noob question, but my sis needs a cheap smartphone to use for Whatsapp Messenger and BBM (Blackberry Messenger). WIll they work on this phone? Or should I get Sony Experia E for $59 (locked to Boost/Telstra) instead? TIA

    • +2

Those 2 apps can run on any Android phone. Doesn't matter what you get.

This Huawei though is much better than Xperia E, and also far better than competing devices in the sub $100 range.

      • Thank you for replying scrimshaw, her daughter said something about Android 4 being the min requirement for BBM, does this Huawei have 4.0???

        • Description says

Powered by Android Jellybean 4.1 with access to the Google Play store

        • Great thank you :)

  • any idea if this phone would be much improvement over my lg p500

    • +2

It would be a pretty significant upgrade.

      • thanks, been tryin to hunt one down

  • does anyone know how to tell which of these (or any) phones work overseas?
