McDonald's McFlurry for $1.40

17380

So, being inquisitive and bored, a friend and I decided to see if we can get past the absolutely outrageous price that a McFlurry costs at micca dee's. So, by doing the following, you will get a VERY cheap McFlurry.

Process:
1) Ask for 3x30 cent cones to be put into a McFlurry cup
2) Ask for the topping (e.g. m&ms, oreo etc) of your choice
3) Eat your three thirty cent cones with whatever topping in a mcflurry cup :)

Enjoy, this will save you hundreds of percent of the total cost :)

Quick edit - yes topping (e.g. chocolate sauce or fudge) incurred an extra 50 cents.

Well that's what I used to do, but I thought I could go one step better.

The ***** owner at lake haven has banned staff from giving out water. He also thinks he is head office.

        • +4

It isn't illegal for a restaurant to refuse to give free water so long as they don't sell alcohol on the premises. Most McDonalds will give you free water as good will, many will also give you a free cup of ice (my wife has gone through used to have a cup of ice or two a day when she was pregnant). But they are under no legal obligation to do so, I'm not sure if part of the McDonalds Australia policy.

Personally if I was working there and hadn't been told otherwise I would assume that water would be given free with any purchase, but not free by itself.

        • Is it also illegal if you sell product containing msg? Was told by a health inspector but i havent verified that under any act. Maybe since you know about the law which act to reference?

Not sure if maccas have msg. Do you know?

Most McDonalds will give you water without purchase. Rarely they ask you to make a purchase.

I really don't mind paying something for a cup of water (I have paid for a cone and not taken it only taken the water once).

I ordered a meal for me and water. The staff said the owner even went as far as too remove water from the register. He said I can't get it free and I can't even buy it.

        • +9

MSG occurs naturally, making it illegal to sell would make any meat product illegal.

        • Not selling msg, not making water available if you use msg in the food you serve.

        • Usually free with any purchase. Just get a single cone for 30c.

        • +1

I'm pretty the way it works is, it's not legal to sell an item with added MSG without advertising that fact.

        • Ok voolish but what is the relation to providing water?

        • I don't like repeating things that are written above so please read before you post. I did make an order before asking

Definitely worthy of induction into the ozbargain hall of fame

    • +65

      Tastes $3.20 sweeter for me

      • +1

Guess you like the taste of money.

    • +15

That's what a spoon is for.

    • +1

      not hard to stir it

      • -2

a mcflurry is blended.. not mixed!

        • +17

No it's not. They got rid of the blender ages ago. It is now literally mixed by hand, and half the time the staff won't be bothered to mix it.

        • +2

Yep I haven't seen it for years. It was more of a stirrer/mixer then a blender

        • +6

Yep, nowadays at my local they just sprinkle the topping on and stab the spoon into the ice cream.

        • now they have an actual blender for the smoothies. Anyone seen them? Auto cleans itself!

        • can also confirm McFlurrys are no longer blended/mixed and have not been for quite a while.

      Nice try, Hungry Jacks Rep

    • +3

Yes you seem to be in the wrong place.
If you look hard there is probably a troll forum somewhere.
      Off you go.

    • +19

I took your advice and had a good hard look at myself. Saw a good looking bloke who said lets go to maccas and get a cheap McFlurry…

    • +1

I'd take a long hard look, pick up the keys and drive to maccas lol

    • you must be working for Maccas? :-P

  • +8

The alternative to getting a Mcfluffy cup is to ask for free tap water. Pour the water out and use the cup!
    Heard about this before..

  • -8

Did the owner of OzBargain post this?

    • +1

Incase you're wondering, there's no badges awarded for most downvotes lol

      • +3

        Don't tell that to jv.

  • +15

Hands down the best deal I've seen on ozbargains in my 5 and a bit years on this site.

  • …I am off to mecca' …now!!!!

    • +13

      On a pilgrimage?

      • +3

All ozbargainers must walk around it 3 times

  • +7

Off to find my keys and go order me one just for shits and giggles. :)

  • Anyone else gotten this to work?

  • +32

I do something similar to this. I usually order chicken patties instead of nuggets. I forget how much each patty is, but I think it's around $1.40 each. 2 of them pretty much equal 6 nuggets, which I believe is around $5 for the nuggets. Chicken patties also taste better :D

    • +1

but then you don't get the same chicken to batter ratio by ordering patties instead of nuggets. Less batter coated surface area = less delicious :(

      • +10

Ask for some uncooked batter in a cup, take it home & coat your own chicken…

      • +7

LOL I think the patties have extra flavouring, the deliciousness is actually intensified despite less batter =)

    • Nice, plus add 50c for BBQ sauce etc if you do not want the free ketchup

      • +8

50 cents? A true OzBargainer would learn to enjoy ketchup.

    • My local charges $1.60 per chicken patty. 6 nuggests alone are $5.45

    • +2

      $1.60 for a patty.

My friends and I call them chicken cookies.

  • Epic…even though i wont do it my self.

    • +1

then ask the staff at Maccas to do it for you…LOL!

  • +25

Maybe we can introduce a "Macca's Ozbargain Day" where all of us agree on a day and order the same deal Australia-wide. We have the power to do it, I reckon!

  • +1

Is this deal available in qld?

    • +7

      I did this in QLD

      • +2

        That explains it all ;)

        • +2

All the maccas in Brisbane City aren't accepting eftpos for some reason… Did you have anything to do with it cheezal? Lol

        • same here today in Vic, eftpos is not working today!

  • +9

    Ozbargain… what have you become…..

    • +33

      Even more awesome

  • I think you should get some choc sauce or something added to it. I think most of the McFlurries have sauce toppings IIRC. So that would be an extra 50 cents I think? So $1.90. Then that would make it a real 'OzBargain pseudo-mcflurry'

    • yep they will do that - my friend did it, but I only wanted M&Ms

  • +37

I'll ask for my 3 x empty cones to be bagged up so I can take them home (-:

    • +6

crush them up over the top for extra crunch!

      • +3

        No, chicken snitchel for dinner!

  • +2

Do they sell the topping seperate?, is it on the menu with a price? If no price, do they just make up a price of 50c?

    • +19

What am i thinking….. I will just bring my own M&M's

  • +6

Kudos for using eftpos on a $1.40 transaction!

    • +23

Haha funny story - had to print a single photo at Big W, and I thought I had coins. I didn't - so I paid 5 cents on eftpos…

    • +32

Gotta get that 5% cashback using ING PayWave!

  • Looks like mc cones will be sold out tonight…

    • +1

How can they run out when no one is taking the actual cone except JacTy

    • +1

      yes?

  • +9

I'll have a Fanta, hold the cup.

    • If you only want a cup just ask for water with ice. It's free. But some branches will only give you a small cup, and others will only give one cup per person. (Each member of a family has to ask for their own.)

  • Unsubscribe unsubscribe. Email notifications going crazy haha

  • +1

    Anyone else they this?

    • Eh?

      • *try

      • Probably means try. Probably a phone auto correcting

        • Yep…. Damn Google keyboard!

  • +10

    arbitrarykitchenscissors.wordpress.com/2014/01/06/the-mcflurry-loophole/

Read the above blog. Was done before posted on ozbargain. Price difference likely accounts for shame and embarrassment.

  • +9

Not quite mcflurry but I buy mc chicken patties instead of chicken nuggets.

The patties cost $1.50 each and when you buy 3 you actually get in weight more than you would in a 6 pack of nuggets not to mention better chicken meat. And when you ask to get them to fry them fresh… Ohhh boy very satisfying,

    • +23

You are correct. That is not quite McFlurry.

      • +4

Even a bit of a stretch if it's put in a McFlurry cup

    • +5

Patties are man-sized nuggets, I suppose. I see the appeal now…

  • +2

This got a lot of votes fast

  • +1

Up the ante. Ask for 5x30 cent soft serves to be put into a McFlurry cup. Ask for the topping of your choice (hot fudge, strawberry or caramel). You get a sundae and 5 cones. I reckon you'll save heaps.

    • +4

can you actually eat 5 soft serves in a sitting and not get sick?

      • I estimated a large sundae comprised of 5 soft serves. Save some money with a regular sundae or just get a plain sundae with no topping.

      • Eating. 5 soft serves in public might look greedy to some but it's not like it's bigger than a bowl of icecream at home

  • +1

You, good sir, have sparked my curiosity. I shall peruse my locality for a McDonalds forthwith for this undertaking.

  • +3

probably scotty is waiting an email from McDonald's PR Department

    • +1

Or all Maccas will receive email from HQ stating no "product match".

    • -2

EC is hoping this, your first and last comment is negative. What's wrong EC?

  • +6

I see people. Happy people at Maccas laughing their heads off from reading this deal. Lends a whole new meaning to Happy Meal. What a way to celebrate Australia Day - the Ozbargain way!

    Jv must be busy.
