  • I'm switching from Aldi and although the 50% off one month looks tempting, I'm keen on the Bendigo Bank Telco with Optus 4G for $40 a month. Anybody experienced their service or reception?

    • I'm on the Vaya optus 4g and i wouldn't be the best example, there maybe some kind of throttling happening for vaya users but its not even close to Telstra's 4g which is what my work phone runs on… for me i get what i pay for but yeh i cant say if its Optus or if its something with the Vaya plans…

in all honesty if i was going to pay $40 a month and telstra had something equivalent i wouldn't think twice about it even if it was only nextG and not 4g …. :)

By the way i only pay $18 a month for the vaya plan on 4g and 1.5gig of data (that should tell you a lot hehehe)

      • I took up the same Vaya plan in the New Year.
I had been with Optus forever, up until then and I can tell you, it's Optus, not Vaya!
There is absolutely no difference to my phone internet/mobile signal dropouts etc., as there was when I was an Optus customer.
And, because I was already used to that, I'm very happy I'm now only paying $18 instead of $49 a month :)
I agree that it's not even close to Telstra's 4g, but it's no biggie for me.

  • Great deal : ) But there is one thing to be careful of. Don't go over your data allowance. It cost $50 per GB if you do and you don't add a extra data.
Check here, What happens if I use up my 4GB?

    • So is it actually a plan not prepaid?

Data priced per GB is the only thing that has stopped me switching to amysim, but I could never figure out from their website if it was a plan or not?

Its a prepaid plan if you like.
You just choose how much you want per month (three levels up to unlimited). If you choose unlimited well, its unlimited!
You can add more data if you need it as either a once of or recurring every month.
To be safe and certain choose Bpay as your paying type and you can never go past your limits unless you choose to.
You can swap and change the plan type anytime.

What KT said. Just choose a payment type that doesn't automatically debit and when you run out of data, you can choose to top up with a data pack or just go back to AYG.

        • When you run out of data, does the data cut out and you can still keep using the unlimited calls?
So essentially, if I pay with BPay and I run out of data, can I just keep calling until the date runs out on the expiry that month?
I hope I'm making sense here lol

        • And also…

Does Amaysim send sms messages to warn you if you are about to go over any data limits?

        • +1

Never mind, I think I just figured it out when signing up…I chose 'prepaid' :p

        • Yep, cant go wrong.

While amaysim is the only cheaper unlimited. option right now with the most data, it does have its cons.
Current user from past 5 months :
    1) Call dropouts are very common
In my ride from thornbury to Airport, it will drop twice always.

    2) No conference Call facility which is very important for me neither I can put first call on hold if I am receiving 2nd

    3) Network sometimes just wouldn't work. It caused a havoc 1 day when my phone just stopped working for over 1 hour at melb. Airport - very good reception area.
I mean we call Vodafone but this was just extreme.
You get what you pay for and I am switching to boost. Although it's only 2gb now but less worries.

Amaysim has been rock-solid for me.
Just depends on your Optus tower/number of users in the area. But overall not a worry of any kind for me moving around Melbourne SE suburbs.
I have been using it a lot more since the LC debacle.
