  • Thankyou, needed to get a powerbank before going overseas in August, so this came up at the perfect time.

REP, why don't you deliver to PO Box's ?!

    • +1

      Because they use Star Track

      • StarTrack are owned by Australia Post and deliver to PO Boxes, I had another StarTrack delivery last week to my GPO Box.

    • +1

If you live in metro Melbourne we do require a signature on delivery however if you live outside metro Melbourne, we don't need a signature on delivery for this order. I don't know however if we can do PO boxes outside metro Melbourne for this one.

      • PO Boxes are signed for by a person there, or by the person picking up. I never understand the issue. Oh well missed out. Thx for the reply.

got one! I like your website

    • +1

yes .. i like scorptec website!

  • I'm tempted to buy this. Anyone know what the self discharge rate is?

    • As with all lithium-ion batteries, it's "low".

  • sold out again? cant use code :/

  • Order 1 from the 2nd batch. Hope there is enough stock to deliver.

  • Cool I got one too

    Handy for travelling

  • @anyone that already owns one this

How does the Romoss compare to the Sony 7000mAh? Might get one as a secondary powerbank.

  • +1

I ordered one, went to pay with an Amex card, realised they charge 4% surcharge so changed it to my Mastercard for 2% surcharge, processed the order but it still charged me 4%!

Rep can you fix this up for me please?

    • Why not just use PP? Only 1.5%/0.53c surcharge.

      • In hindsight i probably should have, Mastercard was only 2%/0.70c so i thought i'd use that.
If i knew i was going to get charged the 4% i would have used my Amex and got double FF points.

  • Paypal says I paid $35.53
Email invoice from Scorptec says $69.53

    Anyways ordered one

  • +2

Rep i had it in my cart signed up and went to final page and was charged for shipping.
then i went back to the page and has gone back to $69

    • +1

I entered my details, had an order ready to go at $35. Answered a call, put the order through, and was told I was billed $69

      • Spoke with Josh, canceled the order, no issues.
Email confirmation yet to arrive and order status hasn't been updated yet.

This is a reminder to myself to confirm later it's sorted

      • +2

I ordered by BPAY and asked to do a pick up.
        Cancellation came through.

Then someone rang me (my apologies I was in a rush and didn't get your name), apologised that I missed out and that this happened, then said, they checked for me and got approval to sell me the next version up, for the promotion price :)

Going to do a BPAY now :)

      • :)

Picked up the Romoss Sailing 5 today :) Charging it now

  • Is the deal still going?

  • -4

where do i put in the code?

    Mod: Neg revoked

  • +1

Looks like went back to normal price.

    • yeah cant get that price - nowhere to put the voucher

      • Checkout page where you enter payment details?

        • +1

You didn't need the code, they directly discounted the item.
I just clicked the link, added to cart, checked out with PP; $35.53.

        • when i do that i get $69

        • Thats because the deal is over, they reverted the price at around 10pm.

What!? Is this a good deal or are all these votes fake?

  • Go to deal link takes you to the ebay site - is it run by scorptech?

    • I think they only had a limited number at the discounted rate, they went up to the standard price once they sold that amount. Looks like you've paid full price.

      • +1

I think they only had a limited number at the discounted rate

        The Rep clearly posted

Gearbest….be weary, it took them 1 whole mth just to ship my BT speaker out when they stated 3 days! They were out of stock/backordered & they didn't even bother to inform me by email…tsk tsk appalling :(

        • +1

I waited a month to get an iphone cable that didn't work, but then again, I only paid 2 cents.

        • plus vote, yes that cabl was junk

        • Thank you so much for your important feedback,First, I want to start by saying how sorry we are about the delay shipping, We would be grateful if you could please inform us the order number, We hope to hear from you, following which we will be able to check the order status for you.
          Gearbest

        • I placed an order on May 2nd and it took a week to get tracking number and even after paying $1.99 extra, the tracking number doesn't work

    • Product weight 0.23 kg. That would be less than most 11000mAh versions bring to the scale. Storing power in hot air?

  • +2

Dammit, i wanted one! I hope the deal reopens! Thanks

  • Too late :-(

From what I know, all ROMOSS 10400Mah product use cheap (not as good as Samsung) battery cells. It's the 13000 Mah one that uses Samsung cells and you have no way to get it for this price.
As reference, the online retail price of them in China is:
Romoss Sense 4 10400mah(name in China) = Romoss Sailing 4 (name here) Selling price is 69 RMB about 12 AUD
Romoss Sofun 4 13000mah(name in China) isn't popular here for the simple reason: they look exact same and the cost is over 150 RMB about 26 AUD

A random eBay link as reference.
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GENUINE-ROMOSS-13000mAh-EXTERNAL-…

However both of them have good quality, so basically the Sofun 4 has larger capacity and the battery charging cycle is better (>500 vs 300)

  • Researching on power banks, looks like ANKER seems to be the top, not sure if we can source ANKER in AU though, Amazon have them but not shipping to AU

    • +1

I bought an Anker battery pack from anker's ebay store. I sent them an ebay message to get a shipping quote.

  • Deal end? Cant see anywhere to enter discount code.

  • One charge could recharge iPhone 4s , Nokia 1520, htc, iPad mini, but not enough rapid power to charge asus t100 overnight . Quite impressive though ,

  • Anyone's order dispatched yet ?

    • My order status shows picked & packed. Should be shipped tomorrow.

    • Nope, just to be TO BE DISPATCHED

  • +1

Received the powerbank today. It is heavy… and it charges my iPhone and iPad without any issue.
I'd like to say again - it is heavy… almost as heavy as my iPad Mini.

The packaging is very good. The powerbank itself seems to be of good quality (outside). Not sure what the torch is for but it works. Also, the powerbank let me charge two devices at the same time when the powerbank itself is being charged by my MacBook, I only need one single USB port (assuming it has sufficient power) to charge two devices at the same time.

Did I say that the powerbank is heavy? I assume heavy = good in this case.

So far my experience with Scorptec is good. If their pricing is competitive, I will definitely buy from them again.

    • That is that it is heavy. Usually better Quality. Mine still stuck
4***** 09-05-2014 Courier PayPal (FULLY PAID) TO BE DISPATCHED $ ##.##

  • Well I picked up the powerbank last Fri and have tested it for two cycles. First, without charging as the power bank was showing four lights=fully charged. Managed to charge my nexus 7 2012 from 0 to 100% and then my HTC 8x from 0-63%.This approximates to about 5400mah. The second time after the power bank was fully charged o/n, it managed to charge my htc 8x twice from 0-100%0and then a third time to 83%. This approximates to about 5060mah.

Not sure what to make of the efficiency as it is supposed to be ~10000mah. I get similar results with my 7000mah Sony powerbsnk from jbhifi.

Will test my bro romoss power bank which we received today in post to see if similar result derived.

    • -1

As mentioned before, none of these power banks will ever give you the stated mAh because that's the rating of the cell inside and not of the battery pack overall.

The cell inside is 3.7V, 10,400mAh. It then gets stepped up to 5V which your phone needs. That's where the loss occurs. The last time I measured mine (romoss 2,600mAh), it was about a 30% loss. So a 2600mAh portable charger really puts out about 1,800mAh.

Once the 5V gets into your phone, the power is used to run the phone and recharge the battery. There's another round of losses there. You'll notice your phone gets warm while charging - that waste heat is generated due to inefficiencies in the charging process. That's why you can't use a device's battery rating to determine the capacity of a portable charger - it takes more than 2,600mAh to recharge a 2,600mAh battery.

      • Thanks for the write-up. The battery pack seems to be working better after the third charge, just finished charging my HTC 8x twice from 0% and the battery is still showing three leds so hopefully I get four complete charges which makes about 70% efficiency.
p.s: I used the 1A socket instead of 2.1A this time if that makes a difference?

  • Order status has been on "to be dispatched" for a few days. Pretty disappointed as I was hoping to have it for my trip and I leave tomorrow. Advertised as courier shipping so I would've expected to receive it already. My guess is they ran out of stock.

    Revoked my upvote.

    • Same here, haven't received any update from them.

    • My order was shipped yesterday.

    • Mine was shipped today at 6pm. So it ends up taking them a whole week.

      • -2

Same here, pretty disappointing that it takes that long to organise postage

        • You can't expect a local business to have Amazon style service, especially after receiving a flood of orders from just this product. At least they are honouring all orders and sending it via courier for free.

        • -4

I'd actually expect the order to be here quicker than if i ordered from Amazon, Scorptec are a local company, postage state to state should be done within a few days. Sure they wont have the efficiency of Amazon but they dont need it because they aren't handling thousands of orders a day. If this product was advertised on Amazon at this price they would have got at thousands more orders than Scoptec. Although i didn't expect lightning fast delivery but i did expect it to be posted within 2 days and to have it a day or 2 after that.
I ordered mine on the 9th and i'm still yet to receive it, that's pretty unacceptable for an Australian company who apparently had the item in stock, it feels like i've ordered something from DX waiting this long.

        • +1

Sure they wont have the efficiency of Amazon but they dont need it because they aren't handling thousands of orders a day.

          They don't need the efficiency?

Well there you go - they're being inefficient for you!

Efficiency is not only relevant to large businesses. In fact it's even more crucial for small businesses. Looks like they're being cost-efficient right now. :)

        • -2

Read it again mate, i never said they don't need to be efficient i said they don't need the efficiency of Amazon (who are known to be leaps and bounds ahead of others)

        • +1

          Read it again.

You said they don't need the efficiency of Amazon because they're not handling thousands of orders a day.

There you go - they don't have the efficiency of Amazon now, do they?

Have you called them to find out what's going on?
Maybe they got a large number of orders and weren't equipped to handle it. Or they ran out of stock.

        • I find it funny that you are comparing a mid-sized business that probably employees around 50 people to a company that employees 117,300 people and expect to have the same efficiency.

  • got mine yesterday afternoon in Adelaide i ordered when it was first posted
    works great

  • +1

Got mine yesterday (Friday) in Qld.

    Thanks Rep. :)

Was almost fully charged already too.

  • Got mine today, PERTH

  • Whilst charging the Romoss power bank, does anyone experience any whining sound?, it's a constant humming sound coming from the inside of the Romoss power bank. Fortunately there are no sounds when charging devices.

    • +1

      @haz

Charging mine atm and is silent.

try a diff charger ? (i'm using my sammy note charger)

      • thanks for your suggestion snappy, I believe the sammy note charger is 2A. The charger I have tried is 1.2A. I'll give it a go and report back in case others may be experiencing the same issue

  • -1

Anyone else still waiting? Think this will be the last time i order from Scorptec

  • I am still waiting in Sydney. online order status still totally blank but got an invoice confirming shipment on 14th!

  • Gee sounds like a few of you need to message the rep.

    • I emailed them through their website, this is the response i got:

"Rang auspost, they said according to their backend the item still in transit, but according to the ETA should be arrived yesterday. Auspost said please allow another 3 working days"

      • Did you request the tracking number so you can chase it up with Auspost?

        • There is a tracking number but it isn't recognised on the aus post website.

        • Isn't it sent via Startrack? If its sent via Auspost or whoever and chase it up with them directly instead of going through Scorptec, all they are pretty much doing is ringing them up and do the same thing. They should at least be able to tell when it was dispatched and where it currently is.

        • Took 3 and half weeks but mine finally arrived and it works fine.
Hopefully you wont have to wait too long for a replacement mate

  • I received mine and its DOA. Does not charge, pretty much a brick. Just lodged an RMA request.

    • at least they honored you as u mentioned in a previous post.lol. I don't know what's gonna happen to mine. fingers crossed!

  • +1

Got one. Used it twice. Now DEAD! Won't charge anymore….

    • Make sure to use the micro USB to charge. Mine works well so far

  • Thanks for the advice. Plugged it in and after a while the lights came on to indicate it was charging. Unfortunately, now it doesn't recognise any device that you plug in to charge. I'm thinking of raising a dispute with PayPal.

    • Use any of the 2 full USB ports (output) for charging gadgets, and use the micro USB (input) to charge the Romoss. Also make sure that your USB cable can charge a gadget.

  • Any chance of a repeat of this deal? I am after a genuine Romoss 10400 mah for $35 delivered.

    Ebay seems too risky!
