    $35.90 on eBay:

So not really a bargain I guess.

that is a fake sense 4, Romoss dont make Sense models

nope i got replied back from romoss store, sense is equal to solo

    bold statements indeed

  • +15

This model is a genuine Romoss Sailing 4 - it uses Samsung battery. We buy direct from factory and we have full warranty, if any issues you can return to our stores and we simply swap with brand new units.

The one from Ebay are all the cheaper "Sense 4" model that are using Chinese battery cells that takes longer to charge and dont last as long. The ebay one comes in brown box, ours come in a nice retail packaging.

Free postage on the discounted 2600mah model?

    • I'm also interested in a combo w/ sailing 1 (2600mah) w/ free shipping. Any chance rep?

  • Sounds like a pretty good price, but I am not familiar with the brand…seems very cheap

    • +1

As per the post below yours, it was on here before.

We're not sure if it was real or fake but I got one and it's excellent. Touch and feel is very impressive, I really doubt it was fake but in any case performance is unreal. Charges an iphone 4+ times. Sometimes it's handy to charge from even if a power point is sorta nearby, like if you're in bed or on the sofa. SO MUCH FREEDOM

    • +5

No. That is a fake of the one in this post.

      • +1

        Damn! I bought that one.
No one warned anything about that one at that time :-(

Should I buy this one? haven't used the other one yet

        • +10

I bought the Meritline one and it works great…

If I didn't already have one, I'd pay the $10 more to get a genuine one though… For peace of mind.

        • +2

I agree with JV. I bought two and they seem to work like a genuine version.

  • +13

I'm actually thinking of buying one just to compare the output between a genuine one and the fake one.

    Edit:
    Thinking has completed. Bought one.

    • Please let us know if the genuine one has a much closer capacity to its stated capacity. I did a test on my Meritline Romoss Sense 4 and the capacity comes in at around 7800mAh. a bit disappointing but other than that seems to work fine.

    • how to check capacity?

      • +1

Completely charge up the ROMOSS battery, then charge only completely discharged devices like smartphones with known battery capacities. In my case, I charged a couple of different smartphones and ipads until my ROMOSS ran dry. You can use partially charged devices as well.

Then multiply the number of charges you the respective battery capacities and add them all up to derive an estimated capacity of your ROMOSS unit.

It's a rough estimate as older devices lose capacity and you're estimating it based on the nameplate capacity of the battery but it's better than nothing.

        • +6

Keep in mind there are conversion losses within all these portable chargers. The 10,400mAh figure refers to the capacity of the 3.7V battery within. A circuit has to step it up to 5V - that's where the losses are.

The last time I measured it, it was about 30%. That means a 10,400mAh pack would give you about 7,280mAh at 5V. More efficient circuits would be around 10-15% so you'd get more total power out of the battery pack within.

        • Thanks eug!

  • +5

lol. Cheap price, but i dunno what i'd use it for.

I sometimes use my Sony 7000mah one which I got for $29 while they had the pricing error.

  • I'm tempting to get one of these. I have a little 2000mAh and it works good.

  • Sorry rep, where do I put in the code?

    Cheers

Edit: nevermind - clicking through works!

    • Ok, so where does the code go? I'm up to the page where they want credit card and no sign yet. Tried again and there is no where to put the code. I got $83 with delivery.

      • For me the problem was I was looking around the site and for some reason it "removes" this discount from the cart.

So you need to click the link here and that applies the discount

  • I'll grab one. Will have it charged up in the car until December — then I'll see if it makes the cut to come to the US on a backpacking trip. :)

    • +1

I wouldn't leave it in the car if it gets hot. Heat kills lithium ion batteries.

    • One of the team here took the 13000mAh across the states for about 5 weeks with his Nexus 7 and said he was getting about 8 cycles out of it.

      • +3

There is no way you could get 8 charges on a nexus 7 as both models are around the 4000mah mark. Absolute best you could get from a 1300mah pack is 3 and a bit charges,

        • Could have been a Nexus - thought he said a 7.

      • no way possible!

  • hi rep
    pick up available?

    • +3

Pickup is an option when checking out so I would say so.

  • Thanks. Ordered. Hopefully will be a good UPS for a Raspberry Pi.

  • Bought one, haven't tried it though. Nice solid quality plastic casing like apple products however , it's heavy like real battery and size is big like iPhone 5s except its skinnier . Also doesn't come with any multi cables like those in Chinese brand batteries

  • would this be as good as the mophie juice pack XL?

can it charge an ipad ok?

    • On the 2.1A side yes.
The Morphie has a higher stated capacity, but is also more expensive.

  • -1

bought this last time. love it - charges my iphone 5s four times round :)

    also, prev deal cheaper https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/136347

  • +2

I bought the Rosmoss 13000mAH Sailing 5 from Scorptec, I can vouch that they sell genuine units.

  • if i was logged in as my account it shows the charges as $55.
if i was a guest its the promo price
    wtf lol

  • Hmm.. I have the sense 4, and I think it's great. So this one is even better? It;s true the recharge time is fairly long, but I just leave it overnight and it's ready to roll in the morning.

  • For those who have bought fakes, I'm charging my daughter's iPad from dead flat right now with a fake Sense 4. They aren't completely crap.

    • +4

Most fakes are missing key components.

Chinese manufacturers especially the ones that does fake ones don't care about safety features, that's where they would cut costs first. Then they would use cheaper battery cells, which often also have cut costs with using unprotected cells.

From my experience, fakes are great when they work, however that usually break or fail spectacularly often with a bang or burn approach.

Look at the reports of people using fake iPhone chargers and getting electrocuted to death.

  • +1

Don't need another but bought anyway ;)

(shouldn't have done this bws deal first https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/143512 …Hic

  • +2

    hi all.
i emailed the romoss based on their reply:

    see http://www.romoss.com/
under product you see sailing (samsung cell) and solo (chinese cell)
each group will have different cell capacity ie sailing1 2000mah but solo1 2600mah (this is just example)
so you will know which one is samsung cell or not, based on the "mah"
also, sense is equal to solo.

i just bought 6000mah $24.99, yes non samsung because couldnt find around 6000mah with samsung and i feel 10400mah will be too big.
from romoss direct seller on ebay, delivered in just 2 days from sydney. real one.

  • is the Scorptec Microfiber Cleaning Cloth a genuine one #JV ?

  • Ordered, thanks OP!

  • +4

fyi payment surcharge for paypal and CC, no charge for Direct debit or Bpay.

  • Is this compatible with the Samsung Galaxy S4?

    • @dorian_grey

      Yep

  • HiRep,
I place the order already, If I want to buy the 2600 as well, can I join them together and save the postage?

  • Ordered 1. Thanks. Can I add the 2600 together to save the postage?

  • Ordered one, thanks!

  • Ah what… had it in my cart and then the price changed…….

  • +1

Mmm price gone back up ?

  • -5

Yep same just happened to me, went to checkout and price back up. Negged Scorptec for shitty 3 hour deal.

    • +3

I'll look into this tomorrow. We have a lot of stock and as far as I am aware the promotion was going to go for a while. Otherwise you can call us and we can place the order over the phone.

  • -4

Not sure why it charges me $70?

    • -1

Because they only planned only selling 10 at that price.

      • (1447 clicks)

        • -1

I clicked on it 3 times and didn't buy anything, what's your point?

      • How do you know they only planned selling 10? Couldn't see that in the description.

  • -3

Yep, I'm going to vote a rare negative seeing as I just wasted half an hour clicking around the order screens looking for a coupon code field I was missing to get the price until I came back here, refreshed this page and found out they were done. Annoying.

    • +2

Agree - deal says "while stocks last" and item is still showing in stock at all sites. Pretty tasteless of Scorptec to mislead like that.

    • -1

      snooze you lose

      • I didn't want one so no loss for me. Just making the point that it is certainly misleading conduct. Not a way to build a good reputation.

    • +1

      Same here…:( disappointing.

    • +1

Deal seems to be back up. Negative vote removed. I'm a reasonable guy.

Thanks for the snooze you lose comment. That was, uh, helpful. I appreciate that. Continue commenting on things, you seem to be good at it.

      • That's the way good deals go though. If you spend too long wondering if you should buy it or not, you could lose out on the deal.

  • Where can you put the discount code?

    • You can't, I believe all stock is already gone.

      • +2

No, there is stock - they are just not allowing you to purchase at the advertised price any more. You are more than welcome to pay full price though.

I guess they wanted to bait some traffic to their site. Stinks of dodgy practice. I would love to hear comments from Rep otherwise.

        Edit - damn autocorrect.

        • When I last checked stock this afternoon we did have quite a few though orders were coming in thick and fast. I'll see if I can find out what's going on tomorrow otherwise someone will probably let everyone know what's going on on Monday.

  • Want to order but too hard to find that box to enter the code.

EDIT: Wasted my time registering and looking for the discount code box, should have refreshed this page, sigh…

    • It's back and finally got one. Thanks rep. (No need to enter code, just click the link)

  • Expired, it would seem. A bit sad, but not bad enough to neg in my view. I'd be curious to hear how many they sold though.

Edit: got one now, good enough to vote positive :-)

also i aware of that link, check my other post. i just received one today from the first link and i compare everything on that picture, spot on!

        • My apologies! They must just be using some stock image or something.

I dunno what to think anymore :S

    • Apart from warranty issue, any other reason why everyone chose this deal instead while being dearer by $3 than official Romoss at ebay ?

  • IT'S BACK!!!!

  • +3

Its back up! I just ordered one for $35 :)

  • +1

Yep, it's working again. Great deal. Just ordered one.
