Kmart is selling the Vodafone USB Starter Classic Plus modem for 15.-
Additional to that there is a 50% off for all Vodafone modems and phones at Kmart which brings it down to 7.50 for the modem and 1GB. I believe this is the best deal at the moment for prepaid internet.

I used to have one of those modems. It was crap. It's also only 3G and on the vodafone network. Slow as.
Maybe the $15 is already 50% OFF? I think the RRP for these usb modems are usually $29-$39
They were worth $30 years ago, they're not really worth $30 now.
$15 seems about right, for standard price
Honestly, wouldn't pay more than $7.50 for one of these. Most of us are getting it just for the data, then it's probably a waste of a modem.
$50 these days can actually get you a half decent android phone, photos, internet browser, basic games, and guess what? can be used for data, probably on any network with a cheap unlock. And uses USB tethering too, so essentially does the same job as this. Plus, creates wi-fi hotspots.
Just my opinion really. Unless you really need this now and don't have any more money, get yourself a cheap android phone.
I know practically nothing about usb modems…would the sim in this be able to be put in one of the Vodafone wifi modems?

I don't think it is a promotion applied to all Kmart stores. Probably it is OP's local shore promotion only. Today I visited my nearby Kmart. It comes out the Vodafone USB Modem price is $19.95 with half price discount already. The original price is $39.95
yes, i went to kmart garden city WA today. saw some boxes of it, asked the kmart guy he said the price is $15, no half price.
Just got a reply from Head Office and they said:
