  • Price marked at The Pines Elanora at $179. I picked one up at about 1.00pm today, and there was still one left.
Thanks go out to original poster.

  • If anyone knows of any stock in any Vic stores lemme know thx

  • I can confirm Toowoomba Kmart is selling this for $179 now (just bought it at 5:45pm Wednesday 25/06/14). They had sold 3 for the special price before I went in, I bought the 4th, a staff member said his friend was coming in tonight to buy the 5th (last in the cabinet), but they have about 15 more out the back to replenish the cabinet.

  • +1

Kmart Riverlink Ipswich QLD has them on sale now. As of 1800 today they have 19 in stock. All in the secure store room behind the photodesk. Closing time 2100. Avoid the rush. Thanx to the original poster for alerting.

  • Confirmed that Kmart has adjusted their shelf price for this one.
Just got one for $179 from Chatswood, NSW.

Great price to jump in to get the Wii U, especially after the recent E3 conference.
    Thanks OP!

  • Afaik, once a stores stock disappears, they won't be getting anymore in as it is a discontinued item.

I think what many have been told that they will get more in is just standard response

  • Got one from Kmart Penrith about 5:00 pm today.thx.

  • I asked about it at Chadstone VIC at lunch time today and she said they had 5 out back for tomorrow and that tons of people had called/come in and asked about them, so I would suggest being early tomorrow if anyone wants one :)

  • Does anyone know if Big W have dropped theirs to 179 also and with the 3 bonus characters for the first day of the sale? (6 figures in total?) or is it still $198?

    • Where do people see the extra 3 bonus characters? I don't see it in any of the catalogs including Target & Kmart.

As far as I've seen, there is only 1 Skylanders pack which only contains 3 figurines.

      • +2

the Big W one comes with 3 extra figures. The Target and Kmart ones do not.

        • Do you know anyone who got the 3 extra figurines when they got theirs early? Or if it'll be possible to claim them?

        • +1

You only get the 3 extra figurines when you buy it on the 26th

  • Asked at KMart tonight at 8:50pm…they wouldn't sell to me :-/

Same with Big W earlier in the week.

Now, as I have two local to me (and a Target), which one should I go to in the morning…?

I wonder if any are opening earlier than 8am? I have to be at work by about 8:30… ;)

Edit: I've seen no evidence that the Big W one comes with 3 'extra' figures, just that the image has the 3 figures external to the box. To be honest, at that price, $20 is nothing to me if I'm guaranteed to get it at $200. More inclined to go to Big W anyone as it's a bit closer to work for me.

    • Big W pack does include the 3 figures external to the box. Just bought it at 7:00 am this morning. 3 extra figures normally sell for $28!!

      • $18 if you trade it in @ebgames

        • +1

Don't think it is that much. The 3 that usually comes with it is trading for $2.50 + $2.50 + $2.00

      • People can buy those external 3 pack figure for $14.50 in Target. Which means that Kmart $179 deal is still a bit cheaper than BigW.

  • Picked one up from 24hr Kmart in Campbellfield. There were 10 units in stock, and 10 people waiting at 12am to pick it up.

My best guess is that they're sold out now!

Just got one at Broadway (NSW) which opened an hour early for the sale. Only one other guy here waiting. They had trouble finding stock out the back as the electronics department hadn't started work yet. But I'm happy. All sorted before work.

  • 2 left at Merrylands last time I checked

  • Got one at Kmart Caloundra. they only had 2 in stock. Happy I got up early and waited for the store to open.

  • I got to Chadstone VIC kmart at 7:50am and there was 3 people waiting already. The lady from the electronics department came out and said she had 5 and took note of the order we arrived so we didn't have to rush or anything (and I probably wouldn't have ran for a cheap Wii U anyway lol).

I then went over to Target and got Mario Kart 8 and Super Mario 3D World for $57 ea. Score!

  • Bought the last one at Campbelltown (NSW) at 5AM. Apparently they only got 2 in stock. Happy chap.

  • +1

Just got the last one at Broadway Kmart. they've got 10, but all sold out in 30min. felt so sorry for the guy who came before me but couldnt get it…

  • Anyone having any luck in SA?

    • Plenty everywhere

    • Got one this morning around 9.30am at kmart ttp. Target said there were some at Hollywood plaza store. Mawson lakes had none.

  • Stock at Chermside Brisbane

    Kmart had stock $179
    Target had stock $189

    Aspley Kmart sold out

  • Went to Parramatta Westfield at 9:30am. Bought their last one…. well, they only have two available. They said you can place an order for rain check. He said he placed 4 rain check orders today already.

    • Interesting.. usually with these things they don't accept rain checks.

    • Haha according to their website they aren't supposed to place rainchecks.

      • yeah i was thinking that, he might get in a bit of strife if he takes to many rainchecks

    Brisbane

    Kmart Indooropilly all gone
Kmart Toowong I got the last one
    JB Oxley none
EB games forest lake and mt ommaney all gone

Went to Kmart in Maddington at opening time this morning. They seem to have quite a bit of stock out the back and I was their only customer hahaha.

So head there if you're having trouble finding one.

    (Western Australia)

    • Thanks, that's right near me. I have one on hold at a Kmart near my work, so hopefully they don't give that away, but if they do, I'll go there.

  • Werribee Kmart had quiet a few also. Weren't too busy at 9am. But started picking up by the time I finished purchasing at around 9.30 (Parents finished dropping kids off at school lol)

  • Plenty of stock at Target Northland VIC,
    just bought 1.

  • Glad I begged my sister to grab one for me at midnight in Canberra. Seems like they are selling out everywhere!

  • Kmart Parramatta got hammered today.
They had zero stock and tried to offer the premium version. They then put up a sign.
"Customer Notice, We wish to advise that this item is currently not available at this store, However we are happy to offer a Raincheck. Please see a team member for assistance."

For everyone who picked up Mario kart as well today, remember to join the tournament

  • Just a question. Should I buy another tablet remote thingy or just a normal remote for multiplayer games?

    • +1

jut get a preowned set of wii remote + numchuck from EBgames for $19 will do mate

    • Pretty sure new Gamepad's are going for $150+, from what I've seen around.

      • Would make a nice profit on eBay If you sold the console & gamepad separately as some ppl only need replacements. Little do they know its cheaper to buy a complete new pack.

    • Only 1 Game Pad / Tablet per unit. Nintendo has made it pretty clear quite recently that they do not have any plans to enable more than 1 game pad on the Wii U.

  • +1

Got one from Kmart@179 and MarioKart8 from Target @57. Excited !

    • Nice i got both the wii u and mario kart from target
      saved $1 lol

      • If you get both Mario Kart and Wii U from Target, you actually worse off by $9, since Kmart sell it for $179 (assuming you can get it from Kmart)

  • i wish i could afford one :(

  • The demand for the Wii U must be lower than I had thought (which was already low) - I got to Kmart when they opened and there was literally noone there. Walked up to the counter, got my Wii U, looked in the games section for about 5 mins, and still didn't even see a single other person getting one. Their loss, it's a great console.

    • +1

Not really about the demand, It depends on which area you are going to. If you go out to whop whop then there will be less people wanting it.

There has been plenty of areas as stated above, which were pretty busy and had lines.
Pretty much most of metro Melbourne is sold out within the first 30 min.

      • Went to a big metropolitan one around Brisbane, so that's not the case, but I get the point. Just thought it was weird that no one seemed to care that they went on sale.

  • +1

For those wondering, EB will take your Skylanders + portal for $11.

Then they'll take the figurine for $ 2.50 (Blast Zone) and $ 2.00 (Ninja Elf).
Traded this in today and price match MK 8 from Big W.

    Great bargain so far :)

    • Will they also take Nintendo Land?

      • Sorry for the late reply.
I'm not quite sure, but read someone else traded in both skylanders & nintendo land for $18.

  • Are wii remotes region locked? Amazon have some for around us35 (not including shipping) for genuine nintendo remotes.. Will they work?

    • Remotes aren't region locked. lol.
You are better off buying Wii Party U, I think Costco has it for $50, it includes the game and the newest remote.

  • Anyone know what is the cheapest place to get the extended battery for the Game pad? Doesn't seem to last very long, and takes almost as long to charge.

    • it's $35 from Nintendo Aus

      • Where did you see this? I can't find it on their website.

        • Call them: Nintendo Customer Service - (03) 9730 9822, Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm (EST).
          Free delivery.

Parkmore Kmart had 0 on sale date. Pretty POed, thankfully was able to secure one at Brandon Park…. in any case writing complaint letter to ACCC.

    • +1

I don't see the point in writing a letter to ACCC. Just 1 store didn't have stock doesn't mean you have a case. When all other stores had some stock.

You were able to buy one, you should be thankful and greatful for that. Instead biting the hand that has fed you. lol.

Its attitudes of sore losers who start to deter companies from doing any sort of clearance or sales.

      • I agree - they don't have to have equal spread of stock at all stores to be able to advertise the product. Lots of forum members appear to have had success at varying times of day and night so the availability is better than I originally thought it might be.

In my case, I had no chance of visiting a store during regular business hours yesterday so took a chance and phoned my closest Kmart and Target while running between meetings around 13:00hrs and, surprisingly, the Target store had stock for me and put it aside for collection last night. Great service.

There are also reports of some KMart stores taking names and numbers so I assume they're trying to fulfill more orders for those who missed out (if possible).

        Bingo!

        • I reserved mine at Kmart Chadstone last week and had a lovely lady call me back early Wednesday morning to confirm if I still wanted the Wii U; great service indeed.

      • +2

Its not about being a sore loser- I was thinking more about the next punter who rocks up at Parkmore and Brandon Park only to be told there's no stock.

There is ZERO mention in the catalogue that there is limited stock. Kmart Parkmore told me they only had six*, SIX for an entire store. Brandon Park only had two, and I was one of the lucky two to get one.

Had Kmart said 'Limited Stock' in their catalogue I wouldn't have written the above.

        Edit
*Prior to the sale and they sold out before 26/06

        • If everybody thought like that then ACCC will have so many letters in regards to Aldi.
Quite alot of times, the items in their catalog only lasts like 30minutes. lol.

So if you go by that logic, then anybody who cannot make it to the store early will need to go write a letter to ACCC.

Stock in any store is limited…. no matter what item you are trying to buy. Just depends on how limited the stock is. Therefore do they need to write on every single item they have in the catalog "Limited Stock"?

For me and for most seasoned ozBargainers, when they see a awesome bargain they automatically assume it will be extremely limited, and you will need to line up first thing in the morning.

The early bird catches the worm.

        • +1

Having worked in retail (video games department), I know department stores and variety stores generally have 5-10 consoles in stock.

Specialty gaming stores like EB would have more but they're also generally more expensive.

        • +2

I also worked for videoing gaming dept in a big store back in the day.
I remember if there was a sale on a certain console we've had minimum 20 consoles per store.

I distinctly remember that when the Gamecube was released (shows my age) we had just over 40. I also remember we only sold about 12 on the first day :)

        • I think when Gamecube was released, more people used to actually buy stuff from department stores.

I'm younger and the department store I worked for had a very limited games department.

    • why do people here love writing to the ACCC?

      • +1

        BECAUSE BARGAINS MUST BE DEFENDED!

  • Do PAL Wii U games run in 50hz or 60hz? I seem to recall PS3 and 360 all running in 60hz. Did the Wii U also mandate this?

    • Wii U outputs at 1080p/60Hz

  • Hey is EB buying the Skylanders bundle stuff or only trade-in?

    Worth $20 or $30 atm?

    • +1

Further up the thread people have traded it in; about $18

    • As low as $11 I have read.

      • +1

They might be getting flooded with these this week. Try going to an EB where there is no BigW, Kmart, or Target nearby.

        • I don't think it matters as to which EB. I think their "Trade In System" is all linked which is why most people are saying $18 for trade in.

Sadly they don't give cash but in store credit…. sigh.

    • Hey I got $19.80 for mine. Went and traded in as soon as I got the console because I knew they'd get flooded with them.

  • Looks like K-Mart are doing rainchecks on this (sorry if this has already been mentioned)

  • Just a heads up Target at Joondalup (Perth) have a bunch of the Skylander bundles left - I called the shop last night, got them to hold one and grabbed two when I went in. Sales guy said they have 'heaps', so worth a shot if you're still keen!

    • I got the last one tonight :) thanks for the heads up. Stock is pretty much exhausted in WA

      • SL bundle or MK8 bundle? Did you ask if there is any more of the 3DSXL in stock?

        • SL. Plenty of MK8 left. Nah didnt ask about the 3DS

        • @jords11: yeah, if SL is available they won't sell the MK8 as substitute.

  • Just been told Kmart Blacktown now have the Skylander bundles in stock if anyone's interested.

  • If anyones interested Target Chrinside in Vic had one left. No premium packs tho.

  • WARNING: I bought two copies of Mario Kart 8, both were missing the Club Nintendo cards you NEED to claim your free game.

CHECK THE CASE BEFORE YOU LEAVE! Apparently people have been poaching them because they don't put them with the disks, instead leaving them in the case, on the shelf.

    • Plenty of DL codes for sale on Gumtree and happen to be those 8 free games from Mario Kart 8. That is even lower than Broden.

    • I saw a lot of game cases with the card inside. I made sure to ask for a copy behind the counter unopened, because even though the card is inside there's no guarantee someone didn't write down the code or take a photo of it.

  • Kmart Belconnen (ACT) restocked some Skylander bundle.
    Just went in at 1pm.

  • moites does a wii u basic console include nintendo land game?

    • Wii u basic doesnt but the skylanders bundle here includes it

  • KMart - Mount Barker (SA) just got some more bundles in 8th July. They also had stock of Mario Cart 8 but wouldnt match BigW price of $58 cause they said No BigW store had stock

  • Kmart Toowong in Qld has stock of white units. You will need to ask at the electronics desk as they have them locked up in the office. Perhaps prompt the staff to look if they are not aware of this.

  • Kmart Eastgardens (NSW) still has stock, I picked one up today. They're not on display though, you'll need to ask at the electronics counter to grab one.

  • Kmart wanneroo in WA have 3 at the moment.
