As long as it is for sale.. But it doesn't lock in the price.

Pretty sure buying today and paying later with coupon should work .. Did with previous deal if not just tell them to cancel.

    • +2

"buying today and paying later with coupon should work"

I got negged yesterday for suggesting this exact thing.

    • In my instance the discount price finishes tonight , so a potential price rise if $100.

Was hoping to commit to the purchase and pay in the morning, but when do you have to enter the code for the 20% discount?

      • It's entered during the eBay checkout process.

  • Was eyeing to buy the Baccarat 6 piece cookware which was $150, now change to $299! -_-

    • Ouch, didn't expect house to pull a fast one. fwiw you can still grab it for $150 from Robins Kitchen. Yes 20% off would be sweeter but just saying its an option if you still wanted it.

  • any good kettle deals? looking for a glass one. :)

  • I posted a question to the ebay dse online about why they upped their prices when bot the dse website and the ebay store were the same price just before the %20 ebay discount got this reply

dicksmithonline is out of the office until 07/01/2014 and may not be able to respond to your message.

    Message from dicksmithonline:
    Hello,

Thank you for contacting us! Our eBay team are hard at working responding to all our customer messages. We are currently experiencing a high volume of messages and there may be a slight delay in response times. We apologies for the inconvenience caused and will respond to your messages as soon as possible.

    Regards,

    dicksmithonline

Nice that they can't respond till after the sale.

      We apologies for the inconvenience
      We apologies
      apologies

  • +4

Had a few items in my watch list but they've all gone up in price. Clever marketing. Neg from me.

  • Has anyone bought stuff on eBay from good guys or dicksmith and collected it from the store?
    Will they oblige?
    I need a galaxy s5 but by 2nd July :(

    • +1

Good guys have allowed pickups in the past

      • +1

Thanks. Will drop into a store and purchase after confirming

  • Moto-G 4G LTE is up on TGG eBay store! added to cart ready to checkout at 10am :D

20% off comes to $238.4. Is ~$53.4 more than 3G ver. (based on cheapest grey import price)

    • Does it have dual sim?

      • No. Single SIM only. So not for anyone that requires the convenience of having personal & work ph no. in one phone.

One of the original SIM slots has been replaced with a microSD card slot.

        NB:
3G ver: Dual SIM, 8/16GB fixed storage
4G ver: Faster mobile broadband throughput, expandable storage microSD (upto 128GB+ unofficially formatted in FAT32)

        • Also 4G version only build in 8GB.

BTW can I install apps on SDCard with Kit Kat? I remember JB does.

  • hey big spender

  • Just curious who is paying the 20% ebay or the store?

    • we dont care. we do care BIG DISCOUNT

    • FeeBay and PayPal - same company.

      • If they are paying for it why are they getting rid of products? What do they care how they get purchased…

        • +1

They still have to pay eBay 10% fee and Paypal some fee per item. Also, eBay store might be a place for those companies to clear some stock so they prefer to sell items they want to clear. Or, perhaps they want sell some of the discounted items in retail stores.

Anyway, the items they pulled out are not the items you must have, otherwise you would have bought them already. Think of it in the positive way, you save some money by not having to buy them.

    • I'd imagine it's a cross promotion and they would share the cost

  • mehhh 281335683828 they made it out of stock FFS

  • +3

Well we can all agree were not actually getting 20% off then…? You may save a few $'s here and there. but you'll find it cheaper else where online. It's sad to see this is how Australian store online shopping has come to. Games and dodgie dealings.

Edit: Some of these sellers not all.

    • +1

It is 20% off. However, these big companies don't have the best price for most items.

The biggest issue as usual is whether 20% off is enough for you to buy items you would otherwise not purchase.

  • This promotion is more like +15-20% profit for the retailers and 0-5% for the buyers. Typical failed eBay tactic.

    • -1

Most of the prices I see are pretty standard. The retailers are not bumping up the price by 15-20%.

The biggest issue is still the expensive eBay fee: 10% and Paypal fee. So, in reality, it is more like a 7% discount.

      • +4

Your second statement doesn't make any sense at all.

As a buyer you're not paying any fees, how do you arrive at a 7% discount? That is ridiculous.

If the retailers price is good it will be a good deal with 20% off (up to the $200 maximum).

Your message only serves to confuse some people, who don't read what the actual deal is about.

        • +1

Basically, eBay should charge less fee to sellers. This will make eBay more attractive to both sellers and buyers.

7% = 20% - 10% eBay fee - 3% PayPal fee. I sell items on FeeBay from time to time. If FeeBay dropped their fees, I would also drop the price. FeeBay now charge fees on postage as well. I don't make any money on postage. Postage goes all to AusPost or courier. FeeBay wants a cut on that as well?

Basically, while the 20% discount promotion is great, it tends to entice people to buy things they probably don't really need. If you truly believe this is a real 20% off, why not positive vote this deal?

  • Anyone thinks this is a good DELL deal?

Dell Inspiron 14 7000 Series HD Laptop Touch 8GB RAM Core i7-4500 256GB SSD

    Memory (RAM): 8 GB

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dell-Inspiron-14-7000-Series-HD-L…

The only short coming I can see is it doesn't have WiFi ac.

    • +1

Another big concern is the screen resolution: 1366 x 768.

      • what a pity, looks like a decent laptop

    • I know it's not a concern for some people, but a laptop at that price point yet without a dedicated graphics card!

graphics cards have applications even outside of gaming, it feels gimped without one.

Also 1.9kg for a 13~ inch is above average. I know it is marketed as a 14", but the screen size is 13.6"

      • gpus create heat and drain battery, for me they are a massive downer on a laptop.

    • Thanks for all your input!

code isn't working at 12:00 am. Need to wait till 10am, unlike last time

    • cheers

    • Had the same idea, looks like we'll wait till the morning

  • Im not sure if we can blame ebay for this. Looks like it might be the big retailers fault

  • +2

Nexus 5 16Gb on Kogan $420 free delivery, after 20% off should be $336. Seems a good buy.

      Doesn't the SALE start at 10:01am ???

      • -3

Last week the 15% ebay sale started earlier than the stated time, like 2am in the morning

  • Unless you want all the games that come in the $598 bundles all around the place (or you don't want Kinect), I think dicks xb1+kinect+titanfall isn't bad @ $448 after the 20% off.

  • any good usb stick deals?

  • Kogan has the S5 for 564.80 after discount, bought one for ~590 last week :( damn I got unlucky

    • better than missing out on a $60 saving on last weeks ebay deal.

  • +10

PS4 magically back in stock and price jacked back up.

There is a law against this, would love to know if it applies to eBay Australia. Dick obviously thinks not.

This will get me downvoted, but if I ran this site, I'd have seen enough to ban DSE from it. They've got way out of hand.

    • +1

There are many dodgy, dodgy shenanigans afoot from some of these companies, Dick especially
      Very poor form.

    • +3

It's been $529 for a few days now

  • Can I buy the stuff off eBay now and pay for it tomorrow using the code? If this question has been answered already sorry for the repetition.

    • Got my answer - " The offer entitles you to a 20% discount off the total purchase price on up to five transactions (including postage) with the participating retailers on eBay.com.au, for purchases made during the Offer Period (“Offer”).  "

  • P2815Q - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dell-Monitor-P2815Q-28-28-inch-71…

Is this the cheapest price at $640 after discount?

    • +2

You don't want that monitor, it only has 30hz hdmi input so it's very gimped.

You want the Samsung u28950 or the asus pb287q

Same panel but they have display port and dual hdmi for 60hz refresh rates

  • There's an Acer 32GB quadcore tablet (admittedly it's kind of low spec with Mediatek CPU)

    • Battery: 2-Cell Lithium Polymer (Li-Polymer) 3540 mAh (11 hour maximum run time)
    • Dimensions (D x H x W): 175.0 x 10.2 x 260.0mm
    • Weight (Approximate): 560.0 g

    $160 after discount.

I suspect this will sell out VERY quickly so put it on the cart and check out ASAP.

    • I just checked my PayPal account. At first it SEEMS like they took the whole amount, but if you expand on the little "+" on the left next to the listed transaction, it should show the discount amount has been taken off. Hope that helps.

      • Yes, saw that. Clearly shows funding source as my paypal and ebay but in reality my paypal account is poorer by the whole amount. It's confusing!
Eg. I had $50 in my account, bought stuff for $50 from ebay. Funding source states $7.50 ebay (15% coupon) and $42.50 my account BUT account balance is now 0???

    • Check the details of the transactions on PayPal, it will show the breakdown. There will be 2 source of funds, one from your card/bank account, 1 from the discount.

    • +1

It depends what you mean by multiple items, if you tried to do more than one transaction then you didn't comply with the T&C's - only one purchase per account.

If you only made the one purchase for multiple/all items together, then you're far better off calling eBay, in the first instance.

I've called them up before, very friendly, very helpful - I was pleasantly surprised.

  • +5

Poor form by Appliances Online also. Had an oven in my cart, were 6 in stock. Now "item not available". Went to their direct website, still shows 2 in stock. Why take them off Ebay? The 20% is paid by a Ebay/ PayPal, not them? Such a shame, was happy to purchase from them instead of TGG.

    • As the amount of stores are limited I would presume the stores and eBay would share the 20% discount.

Generally these are high prices and have been inflated.

  • Do you think that is worth trying Masters for another 10% off Dyson on top off the 20%? Did anyone try before?

  • So we have to commit to buy first? What if we commit to buy and the code doesn't work?

    • -3

nothing. there's no requirement by buyers to pay. the seller may open an unpaid item dispute, but that is about as much as they can do.

    • +5

No, you add to cart and enter the code before you check out/commit.

      • +1

Not sure why you were negged mate, but gave you a + as what you've stated is true.

Even buy it now stuff, add to cart, proceed to checkout and then add the code in the next screen in the 'Redemption code' box. If the code applies successfully, the discount will be shown.

        The code's now working btw.

  • Here I thought retail companies always applied their discounts to the original full price during a sale

That's what I see when I go into a store having a sale

  • +3

Bad form from Supercheap. Jacked up prices on a number of items.

    e.g. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Stanley-Ratchet-Spanner-Set-12-Pi…

If you look at the items sold history, was $69.99 two days ago….. Should be a law against this.

Bit of a waste of time to be honest.

    • -1

There are laws against such conduct, but the gimped ACCC doesn't have resources to enforce them.

    • +5

it's the same as their online and in-store price. there's nothing illegal about changing prices according to stock availability. anybody that drives a car knows that.
      http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/Stanl…

btw neg me so i know i'm right.

      • +2

It was a sale price that ended yesterday… it's not bad form at all, as myoda suggested - Sales start and Sales end!

I +'d you coz I know you are right!

    • +5

You are wrong. That was on a sale price that ended yesterday:

Stanley Ratchet Spanner Set - 12 Piece, Metric, Geared
      5/5 from 1 review
      Was: $99.99 each
      Now: $69.99 each ends 28/06/14

Yeah poor form these retailers having a sale with an end date? Oh my gosh, call the ACCC!

Check Google Cache if you don't believe me, SuperCheap seems to have had lots on special that finished yesterday
      http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:D35Ow2P…

      • we're on the same page. just different ways of reading it.

      • Head to your local store and get them to rain check it.

        I just did this morning.

    • I ordered on last night price for a Stanley Socket set 132 piece, at $179, when to pay this morning and price changed to $279 and Ebay gave an error.

      Far from impressed.

      • That's because you were trying to scam the system. Order under the sale, then pay with additional 20% off. Your risk didn't pay off. Not the merchants fault. Your fault. Get over it.

        • -1

Scammers should be charged +20% price :P

        • -2

No scam, as I was paying before 10am

        • +1

Its clear from your previous posts you were trying to buy under the sale and 'hoped' the 20% off code would work from midnight, like last weeks. It didn't. You got burned and now your crying 'not happy Jan!'.

No more whingers on OzBargain please. You didn't play by the rules, move on.

      • +1

        ordered, or added to cart?

        • Added to cart. Which took me to PayPal

  • -2

Am I missing something here? The coupon doesn't seem to work.

    • +1

      starts at 10am mate!

    • It starts at 10:01am

    • You're missing a few things…

      The point.
      The deal.
      The discount.

Above all else, you're missing that it starts at 10:01am AEST

  • -7

Was going to buy this Super Cheap Auto tool set. $179 at midnight last night… And now $279. For shame.

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Stanley-Tool-Kit-132-Piece-/20107…

    • +7

If you actually bothered to look further into that yesterday you should have noticed this:

Stanley Tool Kit - 132 Piece
      4/5 from 4 reviews
      Was: $279.00 each
      Now: $179.00 each ends 28/06/14

Not a valid reason to neg this deal at all. It's your own fault for not buying it during the sale price!

Don't believe what I copy / pasted, check Google Cache for yourself:
      http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:9-cluko…

      • +1

Of course it is.. All these retailers have 'planned' there promotion/sales to end yesterday to trick everyone into thinking they are getting a 'deal' today. There is no 'frenzy' today.

        • +2

only a fools run their business to lose money. adding another 20% on a sale price would qualify.

        • -2

That doesn't make any sense. If they wanted to trick people (and get away with it) they would have upped the prices more than a week ago, not on the day or the day before.

Is it wrong that Super Cheap Auto had some tools on sale that finished yesterday?

You probably wanted to wait to try and get a double discount, but you gambled and lost.

Another 20% off the $179 price would have been sweet huh?

        • heh. i was referring to anon_'s neg.

sca has done nothing wrong and everything right by their shareholders.

      • Scammers should be charged +20% price.
Oops have I already said that :P

  • Any MacBook deal? I couldn't find any store

    • Well, you're not going to find any today. After last weekend Aussie retailers have sharpened up, ready to take full advantage of the buyers today.

  • +5

Messing around with prices before a sale. Great. Good work feebay and those involved.

  • +4

    Morning guys,

You must pay using Paypal though.
