    Got my Nuc!

    • congrats to u… smarter than u look huh? :P

  • -2

I added the NUC to the cart. Got to paypal, clicked pay and then got taken back to the site saying it's out of stock. Poor cart software. Not happy!

  • +3

REP, can you make the NUC $299?

    • I'd be happy with $299!

  • +1

I cannot believe it. Added NUC at 9:00, forwarded to paypal page, click confirm…. "Sorry. We don't…."

  • +1

I had the NUC to the cart. Updated to new price. Got to paypal, clicked pay and then got taken back to the site saying it's out of stock at 9:00pm. Oh well. Been fun. Can we have a few people confirm they got some? ;)

    • +5

I didn't I did the same thing. I think it was bait and switch. Really annoyed

      • I did exactly the same thing (refresh the cart to get the new price) , checkout with paypal, confirmed the payment and then I landed on the same page saying NUC out of stock. It was with in 30 seconds.

        • +2

same… but was expecting that… at least I got macbook from kogan so I can play some tunes while I vacuum with my new dyson from gg… so happy days still

      • +2

You are aware that OZB isn't the only part of the Internet that has access to this deal, right?

        • +2

If you follow the trend of the thread, it looks like if you paid with PayPal you missed out.

      • +3

What are you going to report them to the ACCC for?

That's got to be the most common line around here, "THEY DID SOMETHING I DIDN'T LIKE, REPORTING TO ACCC".

        How immature.

        • -1

It's not a question of "they did something I didn't like"; if you pressed buy within 3 secs while being logged into your SE account, you should get one if there were 50 there.

Using the "technique" below shouldn't be necessary if it was a fair offer or sale.

      • +1

The 750 ssd was most wanted and a few people got it. For 50 units is normal to go that fast

  • +3

So only 1 commenter so far has received a NUC, any other lurkers snare one?

  • +2

9:00 added, PayPal, they said no stock. Not kool.

  • +4

Smells a bit fishy to me. I think it is a setup. What's worse is, even if they are reported nothing will come from it. I will personally never use SE ever again.

    • Setup? How so?

    • Haha just like how most aussies say "i'll never buy again" after not winning tattslotto and the next week you see them back?

  • +5

Yes, got one. Not gloating, just really happy about it.
I used the technique suggested by GimmeTheStash:

"login to your account and have the item in your cart ready. Make sure you have your delivery details pre-applied.
When the time comes, click update and the sale price will be effective. Transact via Paypal if you can.
Proceed with the transaction and make sure to agree to the terms. (Tick box)
Using this method I was able to purchase the WD drive in less than a minute."

Also had computer clock up and ticking down in front of me.
Bang, hit refresh and that was it.
Just dumb luck, roll of the dice, server shootout.

    • +1

lot of sites dont update the cart price once its in there. So didnt try it.
      Congrats on getting it.

    • +2

Got one too. Followed the same advice. Used direct deposit. Paypal was too risky. Timestamp on address bar was very helpful too.

    • I did exactly this, refreshed, got the updated sale price, got to the confirm page on shoppingexpress.com.au and realised it had the old price -.- went back to the shopping cart, and couldn't check out again D: damn.

Happy for the OzBargainers who got it!

    • +1

Glad I was able to help :)

  • +4

I followed the suggestions made by a few people here and got my NUC! Thanks Shopping Express.

The tricks are (and I know all those who just missed out will be really appreciative):

Have the item already in your cart.
Have your address details saved and direct deposit option saved.
Hit the Update button in your Cart when the time comes around - when the price updates you just need to hit the Checkout button, agree to the Ts & Cs, then hit Process.

EDIT: Beaten to it by the guy above. Seriously, to all those people saying they used PayPal and missed out - it wasn't hard to read the comments from earlier today and maximise your chances.

    • +1

Thanks for the suggestions :) Got a R9 290. Hopefully it won't go missing in transit like the 7970 I bought last year.

  • meh … guess I can add the me too to the NUC miss :( Shame Shopping Express. You could have moved a heck of a lot …

    • I think SE is losing money on these deals. Regular price of the i3 NUC is about $350 and I don't think there's 30% fat in the price to just play with.

  • With only 20 R9 290. I think it will be zero chance of me getting one, but I guess one can still hope. I dont know if I should use my lucky smartphone or my faster cable connected pc to try my luck? Decisions decisions…

    • -1

do both, with one account, there should be automatic restriction to not purchase more than one, need one more person though.

or make one more account :)

  • -3

I wish businesses that engaged in these sort of hyper-exclusive sale shenanigans actually had the server hardware to withstand the onslaught they bring upon themselves.

Seriously, you advertise this for several days before-hand and when the moment of truth arrives, your site is just sh*tting itself.

    • +1

The site didn't lag that much for me though to be honest.

Their sales software seems dodgy as hell though. I think for those people who got as far as the Paypal stage, it should've locked in some stock for them, rather than letting people compete on the payment processing stage.

    • +1

Agree with braydenh, site was fine. The "Sorry, …" was quick ;)

  • +2

The R9 290s were gone in under 20 seconds by my count.

    • +1

I also missed out. Grats to those who got them.

    • 1 per second. Sounds about right.

    • Less - I hit "Add to Card" and before I could load the next page it was already gone. Didn't lag - I guess just a lot of OzB!s spamming it

  • Got 1 horayyy :) at 10:00:50

  • Site lagged out as I was buying the R9 290 :(

  • Damn, i was too slow. Couldnt get it done in under a minute. Well done to anyone that got one.

    • Under a minute? Son, that's Special Olympics standards for this sale…

You need to be like Tom Cruise in that white CIA vault room in Mission Impossible 1; the moment a bead of sweat falls off your forehead, you either extricate yourself in 3 seconds or face certain failure.

  • Bloody hell. That went so fast. Oh well at least I get the hard drive.

  • in b4 twenty r9 290s listed on gumtree…

    • -3

i only bought it for my friend lol

  • Just missed it! Clicked at 10pm and lagged, went through paypal and then gave up and took me back saying no stock.

  • thats the biggest bullshit ever. mine worked to check out, site crashed and now i can't get one. absolutely devastated….as devastated as Roben diving today for netherlands.

  • I made it to the Paypal log-in stage. I think that in and of itself is a minor victory.

  • God dam it, I thought I was fast too and missed out ;_;

  • i'm still button bashing as we speak. finger crossing that something magical happens…just something…anything

    • +1

It's time to let it go bro, it's over, let it go…

      • +1

NEVER!!! *takes hammer and smashes "Let it Go - From movie Frozen" *

        • +1

any moment now..the SE rep is going to go *wow, didn't expect the response for the R9 to be so great, adding extra 20 units…

        • Lol doubt it. These cards are discontinued.

        • really?… i didn't even know that… u think that SE had the last batch and sold them? what happen if someone bought 4 before this sale? wouldn't that mean 16 were up for grabs?

        • HAHAHAHA
a man can dream though….a man can dreamm…

        • I suspect that was the case. These were the cheapest R9 290 cards in Australia before this hour sale. No doubt most were bought before the rush.

        • are u saying there was a possibility that we all were button bashing like Morse code fighting for possibly 1?!?!?!?

        • You'd have to ask the rep.

  • Hi Rep,
The samsung Ativ tablet is showing 64 GB in title, but says 128 GB in description.

Can you confirm which one it is ?

  • +1

wanted to get the NUC, went to Paypal with the discounted price, but was returned to site before confirming order and it went out of stock. Not happy SE.

I am writing this comment in hopes that you have bought this and are regretful of the purchase.

Please feel free to contact me privately for a sale.

    Yours truly,

  • got charged $520 for the r9 290x

    • You do realise the deal was for the r9 290, not 290x right?

      • yea i did buy the r9 290 not the 290x

        • Perhaps you got the OC version, the deal was for the non OC.

        • hahahaha thanks my bad

  • Get in quick for the Samsung EVO 250GB and Netgear AC1900 R7000 Nighthawk Router on now.

    • Got Samsung Evo 250gb. Looks like its still in stock @ 11:06.

Gonna use it with my PS3. :D

  • +1

Been looking at buying the Samsung Evo 250 GB for the past week (didn't need anything bigger).
This hasn't come at a better time for me.
    Thanks!

  • +1

Got a NUK, wireless camera and the SSD. Great Success!

  • Got the 250gb evo. Was it not a good deal? Still in stock…

    • +3

You save about 10 bucks off versus computer shops (MSY, etc).
Not as good value as the 750 and 500 GB models; however, it's the cheapest I've ever seen the 250GB. Pretty good for me, as it was exactly what I was after.

      • I prefer this than MSY, anytime. :P

  • +1

pulled the trigger on the 250gb evo, I been trigger happy this last 36 hours!

  • bought the netgear AC1900 router, not bad for $165, though the dream price was $129, :)

  • damn missed out on the Netgear AC1900 :(

    • it was in stock for about 10 minutes

  • +1

Well I am fortunate enough to buy Netgear Wireless modem.

  • Deals are like a lottery, 2 much time and effort to just miss out each time. Why don't they just accept all the orders saying there will be a waiting period, order bulk quantity so they should be getting it at a cheaper rate and then ideally would be making more money. Means happy customers and result in a positive experience instead of so much frustration, its bad for your brand.

    • They were probably trying to get rid of old stock.

    • Ditto, I decided to skip this entirely (was interested in a NUC) and focus on the eBay deal, at least there you can see stock levels.

  • To anyone who managed to grab the 3TB WD, can you tell me whether the shipping was free or not?

    • i could not get it..but order had free shipping when in cart ready to checkout..

    • Free shipping for me

    Hi Everyone,

Hoped most of you scored at least 1 thing in our Epic Marathon.

Got a few things to announce:

    1. ShoppingExpress whole crew wants to give a big THANK YOU to everyone for participating in & making this a busy event for us. You guys are an awesome crowd & we promise to constantly dish out excellent deals on ozbargain.

    2. I also want to specifically thank a group of ozbargain members that have been constantly supporting us & voted in our "EOFY Facebook Event". I am grateful to these supporters - who are instrumental in making the Intel NUC @ $249 come true and subsequently making this event a success. Besides thanking you guys, I will be organizing "something" to your ozbargain inbox shortly :).

    Best Regards
    SE

    • hopes to receive 2nd chance to purchase the 3TB HDD :D

    • +2

How about honouring the i3 NUC order I had in my cart at 3 secs past 9PM last night - Hmmm?

      • +3

I know how you feel. Had the 3TB hdd in my card, went to pay and booted me.

      • -1

        Ditto. I am really annoyed.

    • +3
