  • Crap!!! forgot to As. Rep! the time that is mentioned, is that EST or WST? Also, if i put things into a basket, does that mean the stock is allocated to me or do i have to complete my paypal transaction? i.e. can i put a product in my basket at 2am and then put another product in the basket at 8am and get both?

    • Deals are in Eastern time, stated that each deal is a separate sale and postage, and you can have other items in your cart and add the sale item last and check out immediately before the stated number get sold.

      • so in other words if there's a deal at 2am and 8am… you'll have to pay for both seperately with shipping cost seperately?

        • you got it

        • Yes - time is Eastern Time
Yes - Each order's postage is treated individually as they will be sent out individually too

          Cheers

Got Samsung XE700 Core i5 11.6" Full HD Win8 Tablet for 699. It has the s-pen technology, 128GB SSD, 4GB RAM, keyboard dock. Free shipping by adding a $9.99 cover. Do you guys think is good deal? Supposedly it was only 10 units, and I am afraid the deal was not so good as it was pretty easy to get. Any comments?

    • +1

More details it is the Samsung ATIV Tab 7 Smart PC Pro i5-3337U 1.7GHz 11.6 inch Full HD Tablet XE700T1C-K01AU. 4 stars in amazon.com. Already a 1 year old product, but wth, it has the specs I want for a reasonable price-tag. ( I do not like the floating keyboard of the Surfaces. )

      • +1

it might be a good deal although I am still surprised at the cost, I first reviewed this unit back in December 2012, it was released sporadically around the world November 2012. If I recall at the time I paid about $1300 so I guess that has come down quite a lot.

Ultimately I think whether its a good deal or not depends on what you want to do with it? If you are buying it as more of a laptop replacement then yes it could be good for that as the icore has plenty of grunt, the 11."6 can be used for work and the hardware dock keyboard is quite solid and comfortable to type on. It is also capable of light gaming, I tested mainly mmos at the time and on lower-med settings they were playable.

If you are buying it more for the tablet aspect and inking, likewise it can be very good for those (particularly the inking) but if battery life is important to you and or you don't need the grunt of an i5 then there are potentially better options worth considering.

    • That is a good decision. Prices might be down due to Microsoft Surface.
I also like the keyboard docks in samsung or asus tablets cum ultra books.

230 upvotes and not 1 good deal.

To be fair, eBay kind of stole their steam. Timing was off.

Tried to buy an ssd at 7.. had no chance 50 quanity.. suckz0rs

  • I'm wary of the Gigabyte Windforce R9 290. They seem to have a high fail rate.

Rep: Did you guys get many RMA requests for this model?

    • +1

I'm in the market for a new card and was happy when I saw this up, but the reviews say it runs really hot and noisy, so I'm giving it a pass. Have a read and decide for yourself if you're comfortable with taking a punt on it.

      • Yeah I have. It's weird, some seem to be okay, and others not so much. But at this price I suspect SE are trying to get rid of a bad batch.

        • You're really only saving $60, as it's 359 outside of this sale. Imo, not really worth it. I'm gonna buy a R9 280 which is about the same price as this card, but at least I know the 280 will last and not drive me nuts with the noise.

        • Well I'm upgrading from a reference 4870x2, so I'm not sure this could be worse. :P

Might take the risk and then rely on the ACL if they are indeed a bad batch with black screen issues.

        • GL. hope it runs ok.

        • I'm also looking at this card. From what I have read the noise is fine if you're gaming with headphones. I also feel as if some of the concerns about noise have been greatly exaggerated by pc elitists. I would have much rather grabbed the deal the other week (r9 280x for $150) but I unfortunately missed out on that one.

WD 3TB sold out before I could fulfil paypal :( Any chance of restock please?

    • +1

Wow that was quick - I guess I got lucky..

    • lmao

      • +3

Sold out at 7:01PM. Geez, the page doesn't even load.

    • +3

I went to paypal but by the time it bounced back out, it was all gone and I was not able to buy anymore. How many units have you got there for this price? One???

      • +1

I thought this only happened on dx.com.

    • :/

"Sorry. We don't have enough 'WDBWLG0030HBK-AESN' in stock to fulfill your order. Please change the qty on order in your shopping cart to a lower number and click update. Then try to checkout again."

    • +1

Exactly the same here. I even sit in front of the computer at 6:54pm and waited the clock to tick pass 7:00pm and hitted the add to cart. By processing to the payment page, it is gone. Slow Internet to be blamed I guess.

      • +3

nope, same case with NBN. Site couldnt handle the number of clicks :)

      • Yeah, me too. Hesitated after 30 seconds deciding my shipping options and gone after first minute. If they had 50 units on offer, they sold super quick. Oh well, now try again for the Samsung Evo 250 Gig for $145

      • +2

As been told, site cannot handle the traffic. Very sluggish when I'm trying to check out, and when it's finally load, it's showing gone before I manage to check out.

  • +2

    The site is dying…

  • lol 1 min for hdd and got it with bank deposit payment :)

the email receipt actually arrived before the page finished loading…

  • no luck with the hdd..o well..

  • Woo, got the 3TB for $79 delivered :D

  • amazing how quickly it gets sold out eh. sigh disappointing.

  • +4

LOL 3 TB hard drive sold out in 3 minutes. First and last time I deal with these kind of deals.

    • +2

agree. TIP for future buyers, even though it got posted earlier - DO NOT USE PAY PAL.
Sorry I accidentally negged the deal out of frustration :)

      • I used paypal and it worked fine. Site was laggy as hell though.

    • +3

Very frustrated. Had my eye on it all day.

    • +1

      Try <1 min.

    • +1

sleet, you and many others including myself were 2 1/2 minutes too late. Sold out within one minute.

      • Yep, I think it was 1 minute too. Kept clicking checkout now over and over without realising the red box saying sold out.

  • +2

I clicked at exactly 7pm but still couldn't get it due to sold out. Also couldn't get the Asus laptop. Fcuking waste of time! Positive revoked. EPIC FAIL!

  • +2

Cant believe my luck. I got the hard drive. Woohoo. Got it on my slow 3g mobile.
edit: Just got home still stoked that I managed to get one on my smartphone whilst in the train, tapping on my screen like crazy. I didn't think I would have any chance against people at home on superfast connections. Then again when I tried this morning to get the SSD on my cable at home I was unsuccessful, so I guess it all comes to luck.

  • No more 3TB :((( first time to experience this…

  • +1

What a load of crap. Shows the cheap price on the item's page but added to the cart shows the full price. Had to clear cart 3 times before it showed the correct price, at which point sold out. Very suspicious

    • +1

I think you probably killed the other orders which were in process lol… to me it showed the correct price when I did it at 7 pm.

  • +1

I think this is some kind of nonsense, they advertise for the whole week… and then items get sold out in a few minutes… what the F*** If they want to make money at least they should have enough stock to sell, not just 10 or 20 items. Looking forward for Amazon to come next year to give them a nice run around. And because of that most people will turn back to US Amazon again were prices are low, all year long…

    • In all fairness to S. E. these were possibly below cost after delivery, and they advertised 50 units only at this $79 delivered price. Most of the other sale items are still available, even after 10 to 20 hrs. They are trying to generate extra traffic to their site. They are a good seller with competitive prices and efficient service, most of the time.

  • +1

login to your account and have the item in your cart ready. Make sure you have your delivery details pre-applied.

When the time comes, click update and the sale price will be effective. Transact via Paypal if you can.

Proceed with the transaction and make sure to agree to the terms. (Tick box)

Using this method I was able to purchase the WD drive in less than a minute.

    • mate I did all that… paypal then directed me back to the main screen at which it said order is not complete until you agree, and then got the dreaded message.

      • +2

Damn I really got lucky, I forgot to tick the box initially and caused a little delay.

Seriously, there should have been more stock on offer.

  • +4

Disgruntled, 5:00pm AWST, $79 HDD in my card, click checkout, check out begins and then all of a sudden back to cart screen with sorry not enough stock. This is BS.

    • The same, feel pretty damn stupid to think they have so many stock gone in less 30 seconds. WTH.

  • +3

Waited whole day for the HDD,didn't get it grrr.Bring back more please……..

    • +5

Rep get at least 20 more please :P

    • +1

I only spent maximum about 5 mins for the whole Epic hour sale because I wasn't interested in other sales except the 750 SSD (no dice), hard drive (pure luck) and possibly the R9 290 (hoping). It really wasn't a lot of time wasting because it was all scheduled. You know when to grab the sale at the preset time.

  • -2

This site is a complete joke.
If you add an item to your cart while there is stock, it should be locked in while you are processing your payment.

This just happened to me at 7pm with the WD 3TB HDD. There was stock whole I proceeded to PayPal… I submitted on PayPal only to be redirected back to the website saying there is no stock of the item in my cart that I just supposedly bought.

Fix your issues. I have submitted a ticket based on this and expect a rain check.

    • +1

This, I remember I stopped being addicted to Catch of the Day because of their BS birthday bash.. I never won anything good and it was purely frustrating.

If I can't get anything good, then its good bye shopping here as well :)

      • -1

        got a sad 500gb.. good enough i guess :)

        u live for now!!!

      • Yep.. I gave up with Catch of the day also, but at least it locks in your purchase once you commit. I had stock in my cart (as did other people) and they ran out of stock during the payment process. If it wasn't for this fact then I would have moved on and left it at that.

  • +1

To everyone writing "what a waste of time" and other such comments. How much time did you waste?

If you're not willing to spend a couple of minutes of your time for the chance to get a good bargain, and some of these are really good (e.g. 3TB HDD for $79), then you really shouldn't be on this site.

    • I was already waiting at 6:50PM at my desktop waiting for the 3TB HDD. It was sold out in probably 1-2 minutes.

I don't think I wasted my time at all. But the chances of grabbing one were super slim. Do you think it's reasonable to grab that ANY deal in 1 minute? And dependant on connection speed too? It's more of luck to me. 1 hour is reasonable, 1 minute isn't.

      • I think it's reasonable, both you and I would know that a 3TB drive for $79 is a very good price and was bound to go quickly.

Regarding your question though, I think it's perfectly reasonable to grab that deal in one minute, some people manage to get it, some people don't. That's the nature of bargain hunting, sometimes we manage to snap up a great bargain, sometimes other people manage to get there instead.

You're right, it does come down to luck, but it's all a part of the game, right? You can't expect everything for cheap.

        • I don't expect everything for cheap. I'm already paying $38-$40/TB already.

Personally, I don't think 1 minute is reasonable. There is too much luck involved. People have limits, mine's an hour, not a minute.

        • -1

Well bargains are all about luck.

At least all you have to do is log onto a site and give it a go.

How much would you complain if you had to actually drive to a store?

        • What does delivery/driving have to do with this? Geez. At least with driving I can still get the deal in reasonable time.

Other bargains are on for a lot longer. Like I said, 1 min is unreasonable, 1 hour is my personal limit. I'm just gonna leave it at that.

    • Well you should also count the time you wasted reading this deal, reading other posts and updates made to this deal, waiting for the day when the schedule was posted, also getting ready to buy the thing you want…thats heap of time, in that time one could have baked a cake :)

      • +1

Well I like to think that bargains should go to those who are most deserving, i.e. those who put in the effort to try and find bargains and try to compete for them.

If you expect to walk in, grab bargains and walk out, then I don't see how that's a sustainable business model for everyone.

Most of the time, like it or not, these "bargains" are marketing exercises, they sell several units below cost, pull people in, get their name out there, in the hope that they will be able to sell more units later on…etc.

        You know how it works.

  • +1

Bought the 500GB since I missed out this morning with the 750GB. Direct Debt was the way to go

    • +1

Got one as well.. too bad i didn't get 750gb

      • +1

Yeah I learnt from my mistakes this morning going through paypal and stuffing around with it before checking out. Had everything filled in and went straight for direct debt. My macbook is going to rock with this new SSD. Thanks SE

        • i did it by paypal and got it. Glad you're putting in your macbook because i wasn't sure if this would be compatible for my macbook :P

    • Yeah I did the same thing, after missing out on the 750gb I contemplated paying retail price for a 1TB, this is about the same price per gb and does the job anyway

also picked up an mx800 keyboard and mouse set which look awesome

  • +3

Scored a 500GB SSD. All went smoothly via PayPal.

    • Same Here…Thanks Store Rep for the deal…would been happy to grab 750 but 500 is not too bad….

  • does anyone know about the reliability of the Sandisk Ultra Plus?

  • +3

unbelievable, exactly 9.00pm cant even checkout intel nuc, saying "Sorry. We don't have enough 'BOXD34010WYKH' in stock to fulfill your order. Please change the qty on order in your shopping cart to a lower number and click update. Then try to checkout again."

  • Was to slow on the NUC

  • no luck with the NUC here :(. gratz for the people that got one

  • +2

Added the NUC - immediately no stock? :(

    • Was literally there from 8.55 refreshing… :(

    • +1

Same, that's pretty far fetched that 50 NUCs sold out immediately though.

  • -1

Jesus.. According to the timestamp in the cart it was less than 28 seconds before the 50 NUCS were sold out…

    • This is BS!!!
I was logged in to my Shopping Express account before I started, got the I3 NUC in my cart inside of 3 secs past 9PM and pressed pay with Paypal, by the time I get back to the store - No Stock.

Something is very not right. If you were ^that^ quick you should have got one no problems.

      • Timestamp on returned address with failed paypal statement: ts=20140630210030
Timestamp on second cart refreshed when paypal statement came back negative for stock. ts=20140630210028

^^ maybe the timestamps are a little off. I did notice them updating strangely when I was refreshing coming up to 9pm, but always seemed accurate enough.

  • Yup, all nucs gone within 1 min

    • +1

Sigh, i had it in my cart, but when i tried to pay, it came up with "Sorry. We don't have enough 'BOXD34010WYKH' in stock to fulfill your order. Please change the qty on order in your shopping cart to a lower number and click update. Then try to checkout again."

  • +1

I can't believe it as well. I sync'd up my clock with world time and added it in my cart right on 9pm and then went through paypal as quick as can be and got back to Shopping Express site and it tells me not enough quantity!

My hands couldn't go any faster….grrrr!
