EDIT: on another note does Kmart even list their stuff online. Searching "3DS" yields nothing. I guess the only way is to call up to check local stock.
Searching "Nintendo" yields nothing (I tried Xbox and Playstation and same result).
Their online shop is pretty crappy but if you go through their online catalogue you can add things to your cart (can't search for them that way though).
FYI - Spoke to Kmart Staff and it's the Blue and Silver that are on clearance for $99, the Red is still priced at $249… Hope that helps!

Unlikely. The firmware required for that is old.
these appear to be old stock, I suspect gateway will work on these.
It's a shame not to use gateway on these, since only a few units can support it.
I recommend buying one and using it if not for the piracy, but the convience of having all your games in one system while still paying retail prices. also region free! you get to play the japanese and american games.

I called up again not too long ago complaining about it and the lady in entertainment says they never had stock of blue or silver only red at $249 even though early this morning they had all the colours.
Manager calls me back saying they will substitute with red so I tell my nephew who gets excited and 10 minutes later on my way to K-Mart manager says they found a blue and no chance of doing a red.
Nephew gets upset and I speak to the store manager and she accuses me of wanting a red all day long.. WTF

Yes I can understand that. Some people just think the customers are begging them to sell at the bargain prices not even controlled by themselves but the head office. They are just hired to serve the customers, they are not the shop owners.

More like they are either dropping Nintendo or games completely. My K-Mart had no DS/3DS games on display at all and only 2 2DS consoles left. Was told they're no longer stocking them.
One of the guys i spoke to mentioned that they are dropping handheld consoles, which apparently started in April this year which is why they are clearing out DS and PSP's
Kmart Bondi Junction said they don't stock XL's only the 2DS as well. Shame really if they're going out of the portable handheld market. Can understand Dick Smith, but Kmart seems more kid-oriented.

K-Mart Belconnen (1 Blue Display model left with 4GB SD Card missing), Tuggeranong has 0 stock.
I tried price matching at Target Belconnen however they couldn't price match it. I then tried at JB Belconnen however they couldn't do it due to their being no stock in any Kmart stores in Canberra.
Best off trying to find a local store that has this instock and price match it with JB.

KMart Chatswood Chase refused to price match saying that the special is not on the 3DS XL Red/Black version, (the only version they had in stock)
