  • Any opinions on the TV or something else of a similar size that is a better deal?

    • +3

Dirt cheap! You aren't going to find anything that size for a comparable price. JB recently had a 48inch for $399 and even that price was considered extremely low.

      • Cheers bud ;)

Dick Smith 47.5" (121cm) Full HD LED LCD TV $229+ $14.95 save $70
That looks like a price stuff up. It's ordinarily $599 and was just on sale for $499 during Hour of Power.

    • +1

Seems too good to be the actual price so yeah, I agree with you. Happy to be wrong though :)

      • +2

Yeah, likely price error, but I'm going to give it a go in the full knowledge that it may take a bit of time to get my money back if they cancel the order.

        • +1

I ordered one as well for my parents. They could do with a new TV. Here's hoping it gets shipped.

        • +1

I wanna get one too but I have enough TVs and just don't have the space. Same with my parents, or else I'd buy one for them. Gotta find more people to care enough about to buy them a TV :p

Oh wait, out of stock. Never mind.

        • It looks like mine shipped today. I've got a tracking number for it. I thought buying one at $499 was a good deal. If I'd only waited I could've got them both for $458. Oh well.

I checked one out at my local Dick Smith's today. The screen doesn't handle low quality video very well. It reproduces it okay - perhaps perfectly - but the Panasonic next to it had the same content, but smoother. Less blockiness. I'm guessing that it used some kind of image smoothing technique.

The Dick Smith screen was unforgiving of low quality footage. I wasn't able to see any high quality footage.

  • Wondering how is the quality? Picture/Sound?
How does it compare to JB $399 one?

  • +1

I just want a small cheap 32" FHD for the bedroom to replace an old one with stuffed speakers…then this comes up.

  • +2

I'm guessing that 47.5" is the wrong model and it was supposed to be a smaller screen judging by the "save $70"

    • yeh deff a price error, not worth it

      • +3

It appears mine has shipped. So worth it? Yes.

Of course I don't have it in my hands yet, so I won't hold my breath just yet.

        • I ordered anyway but won't be hurting if the order isn't honoured
edit: also have received a shipping confirmation

  • +2

Well I jumped on it. Might be a pricing mistake or just old stock. Either way its worth trying.

  • Out of stock.

  • Out Of Stock :-(

  • Damn missed out!

  • also in the deal.. the HP i3 laptop weights 3.3KG?!

EDIT.. oops.. it's package weight.. sorry.

  • +2

I hesitated because 47" was too big, good luck to anyone who got an order in.

    • Yeah same, bugger!
I was checking to see if it had VESA mount then boom, gone.

      • Managed to get an order in but I don't think it is VESA compatible :(

        • That's not good. I need to wall mount mine. Where did you find that out from? I know the 40inch version has VESA mounts (400x200 or 400x400 from memory).

        • Actually, the 40inch I saw was different. I went to look inshore, but they didn't have the 47.5 on display. The same style 40 was up on a shelf, and it was hard to tell when I looked behind it. The specs on the DSE website also said it's not wall mountable, but they also said it doesn't have a remote control, so I'm not sure how much they should be trusted. Honestly, what TV isn't wall mountable these days??

        • I can confirm it has 200x100 mounts

Any idea for a better deal for 1tb portable hard drive?

    • +1

You won't do much better for a decent 1 TB portable Aussy stock. If you get lucky you could get slightly cheaper, but this is about the lowest price yet on big brand Aussy stock. It's delivered too. I have an similar 500 GB and works well as can be expected from a spinner.

  • I had one in my cart but couldnt check out.

  • Dang, too slow.

    • +1

$9 shipping makes it more expensive. DSE is free pickup in store.

  • Anybody able to buy the TV?

    • Yes

    • Yeah.

    • +4

      Yep

Edit: I just got a tracking number and invoice, so it looks like this is happening :)

The info on My Account says:
      Ordered: 1
      Shipped: 1

      • +1

        goodluck!

    • +2

I think some people got it and some didn't get it.

    • No

    • Yes

    • NO :(

  • +1

Yep I got 1 paid through paypal :) thanks op

I chuckled a bit at the $5 HDMI cable (Save $40)

    • Wait till you find out the RRP of those Monster brand HDMI cable, then you will LMFAO.

      • he will laugh you ass off?

  • anyone have any experience with those fitness trackers?

    • Looks great. If I didn't have a Fitbit, I'd get one. I haven't read any reviews though.

  • +1

Damn missed it, Gotta refresh ozb more often lol

  • Is the "DS Standard HDMI Cable 5.0m" for $10 cheap?

    • +1

If you need it quick, yes. If you can wait, eBay might be cheaper.

  • +1

Doh! Due to Dick Smith deals fatigue, I was too slow/late to order the cheap/possibly price error TV. Oh well, I didn't need it and will be glad if someone actually gets it.

  • Yeah I needed one as well but missed the deal.

  • What is the model no for the tv? Maybe same price in store?
    nm. Online only

  • Anyone using the SWANN DVR8-1425? Any reviews? I'd like to know if it is easy to install or how much it would cost. Also how much power these things use.

  • Is the PS4 Controller cheap?

  • Just so you know, if you go here, http://www.dicksmith.com.au/tv-video/tvs/led-tv?brand=35 just click add to cart and it will add the tv at that price to your cart. They've disabled the product page but haven't removed or updated the product price from their listing.
The delivery options will be disabled, but if you're savvy you can use developer tools or firebug (or another DOM editor) and enable the radio buttons by deleting "disabled" from their tag.

    • I tried it but seems like DSE check it on their server side. Good luck if you can by-pass it.

      • Nah they don't check on the server side :)

        Guarantee you.

    • They have just removed it completely from the webpage now.

    • Nooooo,I missed out twice.
      Great find.
The one day that i didnt check ozbargain frequently til now….
IF anyone has any buyer's remorse… pls let me know :)

  • Just got my shipping notification for the TV. Stoked!

  • The TV may have been a good deal, but it can't really be compared with the Kogan 46" as it's only 50/60Hz (vs. 100/120Hz) …

    • +4

I can and will compare them:
      Same resolution
      Same HDMI inputs
      Same PVR ability
      Same response rate
      Same super contributions
      47.5inch vs 46inch size
RCA, digital & 3.5mm audio out vs digital & 3.5mm only
Composite out vs no composite out
No component in vs component in
      4000:1 vs 5000:1 contrast
      280cd/m2 vs 300cd/m2 brightness
      50/60Hz vs 100/120Hz refresh
      Standard bezel vs 'borderless'
      $244 delivered vs $701 delivered

For those that have ordered, I bought a DSE branded 49.5" (from memory) extra special deal for $495 a few months back and am very happy with it. Picture quality is decent, audio is more than adequate for a normal lounge room. Mine has PVR to USB, 2 x HDMI, etc, etc. I watch plenty of sport on it and find it more than up to the task for fast movement, etc. Bit late I guess but for anyone after a ~50" LCD TV it's a great price assuming it's similar in quality to the "old" DSE 49.5" model.

  • +1

apparently mine has arrived. I'm yet to get home, but my housemate said its waiting for me. That was crazy fast. Tracking isn't even working yet.

    • Nice to see they honored it.
Let us know how good it is.

  • +1

Mine arrived today. Pleasantly surprised by the product. Decent picture and audio. Had a couple of features I did not expect (e.g. Wall mountable, PVR that records direct to USB, 5 star energy rating) given the normal $500-$600 price of this unit. Can't find any faults - does what a TV does I guess. $229 for this unit is definitely a bargain, thanks OP.

  • Damn this would have been a nice upgrade to the 40" LCD I have sitting in the living room… kudos to all who got it.

  • whoever got the tv, he/she has saved $240.. That's like 50% off!!
