    • Thanks! Best percent off google play yet =)

    • How do you get the google play store credit Scrimshaw ?

      • +5

Activate the SIM (preferably as long life, so longer expiry period) and then stick it into a Android phone or tablet. Click on Purchase and you will be given a new Telstra billing payment method.

        • Thanks very much for the info

  • +2

Purely based on my experience with DSE they'll more than likely cancel it but here's hoping!

  • Got my $39 Chromecast the other day. It's great. Love that I can take my phone to my folks place and get Fox Footy on the Television when there's a game.

Plex is pretty nice, too, although it isn't as good as XBMC

    • +4

I love Plex and its Wife and Kids Friendly.

    • Is it just me, I tried getting fox footy on the TV via the AFL app and the Foxtel Go app but the mirroring is very poor quality. Have you had greater success?

  • +1

just got headphones for free! thanks op

  • Successfully bought 2x AAA eneloops 3x times for $4.98 ea (6 pack for $15).

Tried to go back and grab some free stuff but the code isn't working now.

    • Code is for one use per account. You could always use another email address, like your backup one for spam or something?

      • +1

Don't even need to do that. Just don't log in (ie checkout without creating an account). You can even do this if you have an email address that is linked to an account- when you enter your email it will ask you if you want to log in or check out without logging in.

  • I don't know what difficult about using chromecast. I suppose if you aren't a subscriber to streaming services like netflix/hulu plus/amazon/rdio, or use the free streaming services like iview and bbc iplayer etc. Its probably isn't much use to you.

    • iView doesn't support Chromecast yet and the BBC iPlayer doesn't support casting outside the UK.

Chrome's casting feature is in beta and is laggy as hell (and not even available on iOS). Streaming apps like RedBull TV & SnagFilms don't work well either.

The only apps that work well for me are Crackle, Pandora, Vevo, Viki and YouTube.

I'm hoping more apps and functionality is supported in the near future, but for those wanting streaming and catch-up services as well as DLNA sharing, they're probably better off buying a Sony Blu-Ray player that offers all that and more.

      • Oh really? Then I must be one of the lucky few to be able to cast the commonwealth games in Australia via iPlayer. :)

It does most what I want it to do, for the price and the fact you can take it anywhere makes it good buy imo. Before this device I'd use a combination of apple tv and miracast for streaming services, but the problem with miracast is many of the steaming apps will only cast while your phone/tablet screen is on, which means you are draining the battery. Apple TV on the other hand offers even less, only way to really get around that is with an iPad/iPhone and airplay, but then I have had lots of issues with apple streaming apps too. And yeah if you don't care about cost or portability, then there's a host of better devices out there, but they all tend to have trade-offs.

  • got a torch for free, now i sit back and see if it comes :)

    thanks op.

  • So what is stopping you from ordering 10 pairs of headphones with dodgy email addresses and checking out as a guest?

    And don't say a conscience.

I think Dick found out about this crazy deal.

'Coupon code "DS29519" is not valid.'

    • That was for the $20 value iTunes gift card @ $16

      • That was the first thing i tried to buy and it wasn't valid, but it worked on other items.

  • Needed a mouse so I bought a Logitech Wireless Mouse M325 for $9.98. Thanks op! :)

  • Extension leads can be had free too:

  • +1

ozbargained. actually needed a powerboard and extension cable (to perma hook up my new ps4 from DSE!) so lets hope these get honoured

  • telling me voucher no longer valid.

  • I just got the power board. You can never have enough of them and free is my favourite price. I had to do some magic to get it to accept no payment method (select paypal, then add coupon, then checkout again). But it worked at 4pm (eastern)

  • or maybe we all gonne loose our free orders and that someone just gets away with a warning

  • Coupon code "DS29519" is not valid

  • Party's over boys, code is invalid.

  • Phew… I'm exhausted!

  • +1

    just missed out :(

  • "The requested payment method is not available"

  • i think all our orders will get cancelled like last time.. we know Dick is good at promotional stunts.

  • Looks like they've killed this coupon.

I got two orders in then on my 3rd one coupon is invalid. Used a different browser (so no cookies) and coupon is still invalid even before entering any personal details.

  • +2

Got most of the freebies. Feel so dirty

    • You are free to share it with others :)

  • Managed to get a few orders in for some freebies, now let's hope Dick Smith honours them!

Also, special thanks goes to the OP for posting this up! Cheers!

  • -1

Coupon code "DS29519" is not valid.
    ozbargained

  • Oh boy, that escalated quickly.

  • +7

This was the work of professionals, not everyday consumers.

  • Missed it by few minutes… Was trying to find a better product for free where I wasted my time… Silly me

  • -7

Damn, I only managed to get 23 orders in before it expired :(

    • +3

      Neg'd but lol'd.

  • +1

It still does the $10 discount over a certain amount, I had a Chromecast + a $6.98 battery in the cart and it still works, as an FYI.

There must be a minimum spend now. Update: Chromecast on it's on didn't work, but over $50 it does.

No freebies but still $10 is ok :)

  • +2

Thanks OP. Got in an order for the Chromecast and one freebie before the code expired :D

  • Waiting for the first poster to invoke A-triple-you-know-what once cancellation emails come through

  • Got in the last minute, only managed one order :(

  • It seems over $50, the code of DS29519 is still available…

  • The code still working for me at 4:15 PM AEST. Just make sure any of the cart item is above $50 (for example, Chromecast @ $49 + [battery] (http://search.dicksmith.com.au/search?p=R&srid=S10-AUSYDR01&…) ). From what I observed, if you try to buy an item less than $50, it says code is not valid.

  • +5

How long before Dick starts saying, "it was the work of professionals"?

  • That deal expired fast, hope everyone orders are sent!

    • +1

That was an awesome bargain. Well worth the 163 votes.
Can I ask how you came about this redemption code?

      • +8

Sure, I got an email to confirm my subscription to their mailing list. I clicked the link and the code came up. It said enter the code for $10 off your purchase with a list of exclusions of course. I thought it was a targeted email but I tried it on a guest account and it worked. I then uploaded it to OzBargain to share it and hopefully so everyone can grab some free stuff :)

  • So OP, deal hasn't expired, the conditions have changed. Maybe edit the title so people can still use the code?

Toshiba Slim 2 portable 1TB seems OK for under $100.

    • Thanks, updated the deal

      • +2

Maybe it would of been better to post a new deal as its different.

A lot of the votes were for no minimum spend..

        • It technically is the same deal though using the same code so would probably be a duplicate. $42 is still good buying for a chromebox :)

        • @ShamelessBargains:
It's Ok now but not 170 votes good.

  • Just got an email that my order has been cancelled due to processing "difficulties". Yeah right, and mine wasn't even a freebie

Does dick understand the meaning of customer service?

Even if it's an error, I recall a similar code with anaconda which they duly honoured, which basically won me over as a regular customer.

  • -1

what's going on here, how are people getting things for free?
was there a way to apply the discount and then remove the $50 item??

    • +1

no minimum spend at the beginning

    • +3

      You snooze you lose

  • +2

Ended up opening a paypal dispute from the old chromecast deal and the cheap battery deal. Waited like 2wks and order was still 'processing', i wouldn't waste my time guys.. i'd only bother with their ebay store

  • +4

I think the deal should be listed separately if it's not with free stuff. all those positive votes aren't for the current products that the deal is offering, it's misleading.

    • yep, thats what I think too.

  • Hmmm mine says order acknowledged.

  • The Pebble watch can be had for $149 after using the code. Not too bad a price.

  • Just got shipping email with tracking number…for the record my order totalled $10.96, so I paid $0.96 :)

Edit: $10 discount comes up as "Woolworths Discount" on the invoice

    • Same here my $4.98 batteries order is complete and shipped. Wonder why its woolworths as DS are no longer part of WW.

  • What can chromecast do that Plex can't?

  • That's the promo voucher code that i used today from an email subscription letter. There was no minimum spend. Scored two packets of A4 photo paper for free on the free delivery.

Although the order status is showing as pending.

  • The order where I had to pay $1 extra has been shipped, but the order I placed for a freebie is still pending… I don't think they're going to honour freebies but they seem to be honouring orders where you had to pay something!

  • -1

How can it be this cheap?

  • +1

Google Chromecast for $40.99 delivered if you purchase it with this:

    http://www.dicksmith.com.au/tandy-usba-male-to-usba-female-c…

$1 less than with the battery! :P

  • +1

    thanks op - chromecast ordered

  • -4

Oh wow ANOTHER chomecast deal, this is really just the normal price now, hardly a bargain.
