lol this guy on the auspost website scares me. http://auspost.com.au/clickandsend/terms/images/terms.jpg

"Trust me - everything's going to be OK". "What ugg boots?"

  • While you can get to register and hopefully get the deal, you can't use the service if you don't have the following….
    System Requirement Your System Status
    Scripting Enabled Correct
Operating System Your operating system should be one of the following:

    • Windows XP Home/Professional (SP 1 or better)
    • Windows 2000 (SP 4 or better)
    • Windows Vista

    Browser Mozilla Firefox 3.0x Correct

Plugin Adobe Acrobat (prior to version 7 or not installed) You need to install Adobe Acrobat version 7 plugin. Printing item labels and documents will not succeed without this upgrade.

    • lol let's face it - most of us will never use the service - we just want the freebie

      • I did use this to weigh my toy poodle. It's just under $5kg

        • $5/kg? Hot dog? ;)

    • +2

Yep, and Windows only. Slack coding in this day and age. Aust Post - FAIL!!

  • +15

this has actually been running for a while…so it has lasted pretty long so far.
The scales are the type where you hang the object from and are pretty good.
you also get a mouse pad, booklet telling you how to use the service and some invoice bags to attach to your parcels when sending by pack and send.
    Pretty Good deal

took a picture of the scales for ya

      Also known as:

DIGITAL HANGING SCALE @ max weight 40Kg
      http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.1164

We have one of these - from DealExtreme - & they work fine.

BTW: The Aust Post coloured one is printed 20Kg.

      • +1

I tried getting a 40 kg scale from Deal Extreme.

Mine turned out to be 10 KG and not 40 KG. I didn't pick up the shipping error in the first couple of months so they said no exchange … :(

(I wanted it to weigh suitcases before going overseas; preferably without having to separate contents for weighing)

        • +1

My problem rate with DealExtreme is about 1 item in every 4 or 5.

Or about 25% to 20%: not particularly inspiring.

  • Smoking hot!

    • Try signing up in IE8 - worked for me after Opera didn't.

    • Yeah, happened to me too without entering the "www" in front of the URL. Try appending that.

    MAMA MIA!

    • "Lets see if we can get the +ve’s up to 250!!" why?

  • It's already the most voted deal of the last 90 days. Anyone recall what the most popular deal to date has been?

  • Damn, i should've held off voting until it was up to 199!

  • Haha 3780 click throughs! I'd almost feel bad for Australia Post if I hadn't received more opened mail this morning!

  • Just signed up. Thanks for the deal. Hope the freebie is coming soon.

  • 200!

  • +3

hope I get one… or ill stop using the postal service and buy pigeons to deliver my mail…

  • +1

    best deal in history!

  • gooooood freebie!

  • Best freebie I have seen on OzBargain - i wonder how many people will end up registering for their free scales?

  • I just registered but did not see anywhere that they are sending the free scales. Is it implied or did i miss anything ?

  • Registered for it, I definitely need the scales.
I'm super paranoid when I go shopping at the markets that they use dodgy scales.

  • +1

"Due to an overwhelming response to our Click and Send free scales promotion, we have run out of stock and this offer is now closed."

Looks like it's now closed. Wish I could have warned you nice people earlier!…. don't you know that AusPost spread your details everywhere? Welcome to the World of SPAM!

    Sorry guys,
    ..an Australia Post employee.

    http://www.crikey.com.au/2009/08/11/dead-letter-office-the-f…

    • hehe, and they can all go to my spam and junk email account ^^;; Even Ozbargain is in the same email account

  • And it's a new record!!!

    • +1

lol well we know who will get the usb this month!

    • +1

      I got an email like this;

      Dear ****

This email confirms you are now a registered user on www.auspost.com.au/clickandsend

Please find your registration information below:

(for the record it said nothing about the scales etc)

  • With 5135 clicks in around 24 hours I think it's fair to say that OzBargain managed to close this one down :)

    • I clicked at Ozbaragin but never availed myself of the offer.

      "rewstar on 13/08/2009 - 14:39
this has actually been running for a while…so it has lasted pretty long so far."
Well not anymore, lets presume its because of people trying to get a bargain they may not even need.

  • +1

Must be all the dope dealers getting this one.

    • +4

You'd need to be a pretty big dope dealer if you'd be happy with 20g precision and a max capacity of 20kg

  • +1

    Nice find.

  • This freebie has received 276 positive votes—100 more positives than the second highest (free pies) in the past 90 days—despite the fact that none here have received their "free" scales yet (unlike with the pies). Enjoy the weekly prize mshannon.

Hope this doesn't turn out to be a dud, or a very limited stock ordeal where only half of those who sign up get the scales. I was the first 100 from this site to sign up, so I hope I scored myself a set of scales!

  • WOW O_O

    276 positive votes!!! most ever!

    NICE FIND!

  • 281 +ve now… will it reach 300?
Or over the next month and no one receive it then I guess will be alot of -ve but by then it will be to late to do the vote!

  • -1

    15 more until 300 +ves!

  • Has anyone received their scales yet (who have found the link through Ozbargains)?

  • Anyone got the scale?

  • Anyone receive it yet ?

    • nothing yet.

  • No scale yet… Anyone?

  • They did a runner coz of our OzB members :)

  • Still waiting….check letter box everyday

  • This is way to long. losing the positive vote cause there are better freebies out there which u didn't have to wait this ridiculously long for like free the free beer

  • where's my scales!?!? still waiting…

    • +1

I don't think we going to get it. Auspost may treat it as out of stock without having to inform us or do anything. Is already more than 2 weeks. Have anyone try email Auspost to ask?

  • My guess would be that AP would bulk "orders" together and do batches of mass-mail-outs.
I'd suggest that it'd be best to remain patient, as I'd be confident that AP won't aspire to the likes of the Acer Cash-back scheme, with its 2-to-3 months "delay" in processing.
    \_/7

    • +1

AP can't exactly blame the postal service for the delay without looking incompetent either way.

      • -1

Unless they sub'ed delivery out to a courier firm. ;)
        \_/7

  • I havent received anything yet either. I'm reserving my vote until it arrives.

  • nothing

  • I am voting + just to push the positive vote count to 300. Havent received the scale as of yet.

  • Still havn't received…

  • not a thing here either….

  • Its been a month and nobody has got anything. Let me be the first to neg this one.

EDIT: except its over 30 days old now so I cant lol sigh

  • Where is our scale!!!!!!!!!!!!!
