thanks for posting. Hope you get 100+ votes. good luck.

Bloody ozbargain why In the world is this guy getting negged?

      • +4

Probably because he's publicly commenting that he personally hopes and is wishing luck that the deal will receive some arbitary number of votes, highlighted in bold and the whole shebang, but with no explanation why it should reach that number.

Oh, and maybe not voting + himself. (possible accidental neg and retracted?)

That's all I can think of.

        • Unless it was meant to be sarcasm! If that is the case, and he says so, I'll gladly give him a pos vote!

  • +4

Doesn't say if it supports HDMI 1.4 or not

    • part of the ACCC regulations is that it isn't allowed to. (or something like that.) the " 1.4 " is the contentious issue with the ACCC and advertising.

      • +2

There is no such thing as HDMI 1.4 cables is why.

The only types of cables are "Standard HDMI Cable", "Standard HDMI Cable with Ethernet", "Standard Automotive HDMI Cable", "High Speed HDMI Cable" and "High Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet"

HDMI Licensing does not allow any cable to be called a 1.4 cable.

  • 1.5m on ebay with dicks still show $30+
    Good deal OP!

  • +10

No info, not gold, normally $45??? Hmmmm, don't think so!

  • Could not help myself… Saving of $40…LOL. But not bad after the discount and +one for the laugh.

  • +2

    Yes another absolute lie
I have these cheap generic cables they are great but not rrp $45 at all but as good as any other hdmi

  • Pretty much the same sort of HDMI 3m cable which Jaycar is selling for $24.95 every day price. No way it's worth $45.

  • +5

You should always buy Monster cables for the quality.

    • +1

I just buy them for the name!!!

      • +2

I buy them for the price

        • +3

I wear them. Costs more than my cheap watch and necklace.

        • @wtfnodeal: Can be a Cheap Bike Lock?

        • I eat them for the sound of it

    • I buy 'em to hang my clothes

  • +3

I don't need these at all, but bought 2 anyway. Damn you ozbargain.

  • +1

Thanks OP, just deposited $4.98 into Dick Bank.
Should get it back in about a week. Got to keep those work experience kids busy.

    • First place I looked too! $8.99 for a 3m from them. I bought some a couple of months ago when they were 25% off. $6.75… but at least they've got gold plated connectors.

  • +4

Anyone who buys a $7 cable for $45 is a fool.
Good deal OP, even if the savings are a total joke.

  • +2

$44.98 to transfer zeros and ones 3 meters…

  • +4

A HDMI cable that will deliver amazing performance in audio and video connections, producing the cleariest and brightest home theatre experience.

    Ummm…. ok

  • +1

reminds me of the gold one a few months ago that i got free shipping with 8x AAA eneloops —> https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/146178

which is now an amazing 2 for $50!! -_-

  • +11

Why is this at 50+ votes? It's a no name brand. eBay has many 3m 1.4v HDMI cables for cheaper. What am I missing (apart from DS's inflated RRP)

    • +1

"eBay has many 3m 1.4v HDMI cables for cheaper"

Got a link? Dicks are sent from Sydney.

      • +9

        Dicks are sent from Sydney.

That's because there's an overabundance of them there!!! ;)

        • lol :)

        • +2

I mentioned Sydney because Slo stated that…

"eBay has many 3m 1.4v HDMI cables for cheaper "

So far no one has come up with a link from a cheaper Aussie supplier, posting from Australia, even though his post received 8 positive voted.

Too many Dick bashers here, imo.

        • Too many Dick bashers here, imo.

Agreed, I couldn't have said it better myself!!!

Ps. I hate spelling it out, but I do hope you saw the h_u_m_o_u_r in my comments?

        • @Snoop:

No need to spell it, i just didn't find it funny . Maybe if i was 12yo i might. ; )

I wanted to make the point that nobody could come up with a better price .

        • @mrfluffy:
And I wanted to make the point that I think there's a lot of Dicks in Sydney! (More than 40 anyway!)

        • @mrfluffy: I never once said an Aussie supplier, as per your requote of me i said eBay has many 3m 1.4v HDMI cables for cheaper. Here is 12 examples for you of Cheaper listings

        • +1

@mrfluffy: not talking about Au sellers. Fact is these cables are the same crap you can get for $3.5 from Hong Kong sellers.

  • Imagine this sale scenario: you are are an average person buying a big TV $1-2000 and the Dick Smith salesperson tells you need a HDMI cable, screen cleaner, blue ray player and a few blue rays. Before you know you spent $40 on a generic HDMI cable. Ouch.

  • +1

A $10 cable is perfectly fine and build quality isn't really an issue unless you're a masochist that likes to pull on wires after you plug them in just to see what happens.

  • 621 sold. I bet Dick Smith is overselling yet again. Happens every time with every damn sale they have.

Might see this cable in 2 weeks after getting the "the item is on backorder" email or maybe never see it at all after getting the "insufficient stock to fulfill will need to refund" email.

  • Is it just me or does this look like a regular plastic bonded cable that DSE are selling for a normally very high price, when others sell the ones with braided fabric type cords with gold connectors for far less?

I recently needed a cheap and cheerful 3m cable and got one for $8 at MSY but it was a braided one (not the bondedn plastic type).

Personally I prefer these but each to their own.

Appreciate that this is a free delivery (and cheaper at $5) but am posting this comment not about the absolute price but as something to bear in mind before assuming you're making a huge saving on a $45 cable.

  • Turns out that Dick Smith has already dispatched my HDMI 3m cable bought last night. That was quick bit of a change. They must be processing orders in the correct way now instead of late orders first.

  • +4

+1 can never have too many cables. Even though I cant get my car in the garage anymore. Ordered one. Thanks Op.

  • too good to resist

  • Considering the price I had to grab two!

  • brought 2

    nice find OP

  • Good deal, I don't like to buy from Dick Smith online as they mess up a lot of transactions but at least eBay gives the consumer some power with feedback.

  • These good for ps4 and xbox one?

  • The last ones I bought were from Aldi and they don't work… Very sus of cheap cables since…

    • Don't work in what? In general? or in specific devices?
ie. I know the WDTVs are very particular about using cheap cables!

  • Just received my cable by courier.
Good deal - couldn't find any cheaper 3m cables on Ebay.
    Thanks OP

  • Received my cable today. It's a High Speed HDMI cable and the packaging says supports 3D. This is all you'd really want no need for a monster HDMI cable!.

  • Got one cable today. Pity I ordered 2…

  • Has anyone NOT received their cable yet? I'm still waiting for mine.
