    Aargh… not again.. !!!
How many variants are there? I have the white, tropical, chocolate, glitter.. now uomo..? What's next… starwars edition?

    • +4

what, no rouge? For shame! :p

    • +9

Check out the variants here - http://budgetlightforum.com/node/7336

I like the Disney editions but it looks like I missed them :(

    • +10

I think there needs to be a ozbargain variant.

  • +10

I've said it before, I'll say it again. They drop to this price every second week, if not more often than that so you'd have to be an idiot to have bought them at the $40 mark. In fact, It's so often that I'd consider this their unofficial regular price. Enjoy the positive votes flow in though at the mere mention of 'Eneloop'.

    • +8

+1 for you for saying that word!

    • +1

I'm pretty sure it's been a month since the UOMO last dropped in price, and even then they were ~$25 delivered. I've been hanging out for these (and the ROUGE) to drop back down, so I could grab a set for cheap.

      • +5

Just my opinion and usage here… but I'm personally not worried about particular colours as I don't have any devices with see through battery covers!

        • That's fair enough, people are different after all.

        • my daughter loves these new colours from all of these specials every 2 weeks, tho she doesnt care what they cost, just luvs the colours…

        • @sachz: Yup. I've just recently forked out ~$40 for an 8-pack of AAA Glamorous.

        • @sachz: I love the different colours…blingy and all :)

      • +4

At the end of the day it's the same battery, colour or not these go on 'sale' every week just about.

        • Yes, they do. But people are different, and some people prefer certain colors. So much so that they skip deals of the "same battery", and wait for the deal they want. I wouldn't even want to attempt to explain to my wife how the standard white eneloop really is the "same battery" as the rouge. lol

        • +1

Colour aside, the real difference is that these are the Jap made Sanyo ones… Which aren't on sale that often!
Ps. I'd prefer the white ones, but the Jap model is higher preference to the colour!

  • Why can't they put it as store price :(

    • +1

Seems everything in Oz has gone this way. Every 2nd week, every 2nd shop on every 2nd shelf is 50% off.
I figure it's because 50% of the country has too much money. The only reason these are $40 ever is because 50% will pay it, and 50% won't unless there's 50% off.

TL;DR: If they didn't have the $40, they wouldn't pay it, price would drop.

Note: 2nd/50% figures are clearly not factual

  • What sort of chargers do people buy for these?

    • +1

I use a La Crosse Technology BC-700 Alpha Power Battery Charger - Works quite well.

      http://www.amazon.com/La-Crosse-Technology-Battery-Charger/d…

    • +1

Memorex Pro1 Geniux charger which is identical to the Maha Powerex MH-C9000. Been using it for six months and love it:

      http://ru.nkon.nl/memorex-pro1-geniux-charger.html

      • So can you use any AA Nimh charger? I have one that came packaged with some Energiser batteries. Just checking!

        • +2

not all AA Nimh chargers are equal. Some of the worse ones can kill your battery prematurely. Heck, even some of the ones that come with eneloops aren't "smart" chargers.

  • How many mah ate these? Crap Chinese sites sell batteries and claim 3000mah. Ate these suitable for those little Cree led touches which use "18650" batteries?

    • The 2 crees I've bought 'claimed' on the site that they were 18650, but have taken the AAs just fine!
Edit: and 2000 mAh. Edit2: Actually, 1900 mAh, it looks like they're the older Sanyo ones!

    • How many mah ate these? Minimum of 1900, but typically 2000

Crap Chinese sites sell batteries and claim 3000mah. Don't fall for this. I bought some Chinese AAA batteries claiming to be 1500mAh and the capacities varied from 189 mAh (worst) to 256 mAh (best). Stick to reputable brands like Eneloop or GP Recyko

Ate these suitable for those little Cree led touches which use "18650" batteries? No
Edit - Looks like it may work as per the below link but they are a different size and voltage. You can get an adapter to fit 3 AAA batteries to use instead of a 18650 battery but not sure if some kind of adapter exists for AA batteries http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?200550-Co…

      • We still have Santo NiMh AA-cells labeled 2700 may. what are eneloop's, & why don't they show it on all models?

      • I'm pretty sure 18650's have about same diameter as AA's. it's their length that changes. (we have chargers that handle both models, & more besides)

        • You may be thinking of 14500, don't have any but I think they're around the same size as AA, just different voltage and different chemistry (lithium)

    • 18650's are also in Tecsun's newest portable shortwave radio. I think they're longer than AA's, so it may require a longer, stronger spring to cover use of either in same device economically.

    • NO! 18650 are not only a different size, but they're also a different chemistry and voltage!

18650 tells you the size of the cell - 18 mm wide by 65.0 mm long. A AA cell is 14 mm wide by 50.0 mm long. An equivalent size lithium battery is called a 14500 but again, it's not compatible due to the different voltage.

18650 being a lithium rechargeable cell are rated at 3.7V (up to 4.2V fully charged) Virtually all devices designed to use them won't be able to work on the lower 1.2V of rechargeable NiMH cells like the Eneloop.

  • Hoping that they do some Eneloop AAA deals!

    • +1

They will… But you may have to wait a day or 2! ;)

  • +11

My ozbargain membership may be cancelled by saying this, but I think I have enough eneloops now.

    • +4

Hi, I am samia786 and I am an eneloopoholic.

Sorry my resolve only lasted a few hours. I ended up ordering 4 packs with the $15 off coupon :(

      • I'm surprised people have so many gadgets that take AA batteries. Oh wait, vibrators. I've heard once you go Hitachi Magic Wand (with wall power outlet plug) you never go back.

    • I don't even know who you are anymore.

  • I've been waiting for the next 'insipid' DSE Eneloop deal to come up! But… I actually don't mind this one, and I need a few more as I've gotten rid of just about all my old Alkis now. Thanks OP.
Ps. OP, if you put that they're Sanyo in the title, you may atract a few more passers by. ;)

  • Are these made in Japan or China?

    • Should be Japan as they're the Sanyo ones! Well, that's what the picture shows!

    • Just received mine. Pleased to be getting older stock for once: Made in Japan.

  • Have no eneloops and thinking of getting these - seen so many deals, are these the AA to go for? If i'm not mistaken, they seem to be 3rd Gen Japanese model from my limited search. There also seems to be a 4th gen but i'm probably way over thinking this!

    • +3

3rd Gen, Jap made, 1800 cycle, Sanyo ones. Well proven battery!
Probably nothing wrong with the new China ones, but no one really knows yet!

  • +4

There's two things you just cannot have enough of in this ol' life … hard drive space and Eneloops.

  • Mmmmm, UOMO Eneloops!

  • I have some sort of energizer charger, would that be sufficient or do I need some special charger for eneloops? If so why is there never a deal just for a charger and 4 of these things ?

    • +1

It depends on the charger. Most likely, it will work, but if it's not a smart charger with independent control for each slot, it's not going to be particularly kind on your batteries.

There was a special on a Panasonic Charger with 4x AA Eneloops not long ago, but it wasn't a good charger unfortunately.

Highly recommended chargers include the Maha C9000 and the Lacrosse chargers - e.g. BC900, BC700, etc. These chargers not only do a good job of independently charging each cell, they can also test and measure the capacity of your batteries to ensure that they're in good condition.

I'm personally working on the firmware for an open source charger which is even more advanced than the above chargers, but it's not a cheap device because of the fact that it's more advanced and not produced in large quantities in China.

If you're looking for a decent but cheap charger, you can get a fairly reasonable one from Ikea for only $20 (if you live close enough to one in the Eastern states - WA store overcharges for it)

      • +1

The deal I posted on the quick charger from Masters for $20 is pretty much out of stock everywhere now… But Masters still have the same MQR06 quick charger with the Jap made 1800 cycle Sanyo AAs for $30. It's a good little 'smart' quick charger for it's price and includes the 4 batteries too!

        • So if I was after a smart charger suitable for one who doesn't understand batteries (so not something where I would have to set charge rates etc), but doesn't want to ruin her newly expanding eneloop collection, would the best be the Sanyo, Ikea, nitecore i4 or ??

        • @Hen:
Can't comment on the quality of the others, but for set and forget, and value for money, it's hard to go past the supplied quick charger (Sanyo MQR06) as it also comes with batteries! As much as I was happy to purchase a better one like the Maha or LaCrosse, I wanted something the Mrs could just plug in without thinking when required!
          Where in Melbourne are you?

        • @Snoop: near Chaddy

        • @Hen:
Hmmm… I now have 3 of the quick chargers, 2 still in the box (but without the batteries), and may be willing to part with one! (I work in Clayton)

        • Hi Snoop,

Does the quick charger do individual cells ? If so I'd be interested. I've got the MQN04A which I believe only charges in pairs which is a pain when you have torches that take 3 cells.

        • @Snoop: thanks snoop, nice of you. Prob not heading your way too soon, but may have to consider. What $$?

        • Thanks for reminding me of that $20 Masters deal…just picked up two from my local (Baldivis WA) - there is still one left.

      • thanks for the info. the charger I have looks a lot like this one: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/energizer-battery-charger/126206…

        • +1

The fact that this charger is advertised as charging either 2 or 4 at a time indicates that it charges in pairs - i.e. it doesn't have individual cell monitoring = bad for your batteries!

        • I see. thanks again for the advice:)

  • The picture shows 2012-10 on the box.

Must be very old stock, is that bad?

    • +2

I wouldn't be too concerned about them being old - I've tested Eneloops that were around 8 years old and they still had about 60% of their original capacity remaining - not bad considering that they were originally only charged to about 75% at the factory!

After a single charge, they were already at rated capacity and worked just as well as new ones (considering that they were 1st generation)

  • nice, these are JPN made ones.

  • Are these any good guys never heard of these before

    • +1

They used to have a good name, prior to March 2014! ;)

      • It was also the same time the average iq on this site went up drastically

        • Sorry, you mustn't have seen the addendum.
ıʇ sʇɐʇǝp ʇɥɐʇ ʇɥǝ bɹɐdɥs ʍǝɹǝ ndןoɐpǝp ouʇo ʇɥǝ sǝɹʌǝɹ ndsıpǝ poʍu¡ ʇɥǝʎ ɐɔʇnɐןןʎ dןnɯɯǝʇǝp¡

  • Just waiting for another deal including the charger… Shame I missed the Masters one!

  • Thanks OP… was waiting for this

  • Thanks from a beginner eneloop collector!

  • found this, the differences between eneloop models (probably based on manuf. year)

can we tell which one is now selling on DS? which generation?

    • +2

      The UOMO are 3rd generation.

      • do we ever see the same price deal for the 4th gen from DS?

        • +1

All the time. There's been a few good deals onthe Chocolates lately.
But note, the jury is still out on whether the newer Chinese made Panasonic ones are as good as these yet!

  • Nice mine has already shipped. :)

  • +1

Awesome, been waiting for UOMO to go on sale. I have tons of ROUGE(for my female'ish appliances) and TROPICAL(gender neutral appliances) already, I now have more UOMO for my macho manly appliances :P

Also stocking up on Jap made ones before they run out completely and swamp us with the china made ones, which are as of yet still unproven.

    • +3

      female'ish

As curious as I am… I don't think I want to ask the question on this one!

  • +2

Code GIFT4DAD is glitching hard…just bought 4 packs for $19.92 lol!

    • Jumped in boat and bought 3X AA and 2X AAA for 34.90!
Lets see if they honour it ;)

    • why just about to post that glitch!!
      hopefully they complete the order!

    • Just got tracking number :)

  • can someone shed some light on the popularity and demand for these batteries? sure they are quality rechargeable batteries, but really what do people do with AA batteries these days?

    • can someone shed some light

You wouldn't need us to if you had rechargeable Eneloop batteries!

but really what do people do with AA batteries these days?

Put them in things that need batteries… Remotes, toys, flashlights, etc.

    • anything that needs batteries larger than the AA size… i'm using the eneloops in the kids toys which use heaps of AA, C and D size batteries… i use the C and D adapters with the AAs… sure they dont last as long, but thats why they are rechargeable!

      • i use the C and D adapters with the AAs

Where is the best to buy these adapters?

        • +1

ebay. you can get shells that take one or two AAs, etc..cheapest to buy from the sellers based in China, HK

        • @Kenb0:

          Sweet - cheers mate ;)

  • Page has gone, presumably DS' subtle way of saying nil stock.

  • using GIFT4DAD code

    $15off applied to each items.

Ie: order 5 items get $75off.

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/erj1oc0ag5mm75r/Untitled.png?dl=0

It should be an error. Be quick guys

    • My god let us know if you auctually get em for this ! :0

    • DSE fixed it up

      • How? By cancelling your order ?

        • I mean they fixed the code error.

    • I can't believe I've missed this!

  • I need AAA ones. Guess they'll be on sale next.

Edit: damn thing expired on me again. PriceSlice says it's still $1 above it's 18.98 historical low. So a true hardcore OzBargainer would have waited for them to be a buck cheaper again. Or lower.

  • UOMO still available for $19.98 + $4.95 delivery!!

  • Actually they are available again on the DS site.

  • +2

Just bought 5 packs with the DADSDAY20 discount = $79.92 delivered.
I don't need any more eneloops!!!

    • Argh! I couldn't help it either. Not as good a deal as yesterday's glitch, but I still couldn't resist. I don't need any more AA eneloops either!!

    • wasnt working this morning at 1 am..

got 5, and works out to be 75.92 for me using discounted gift cards.

  • Eneloop UOMO still available at $19.98 + $4.95 delivery now.

If you have not used your DADSDAY20 voucher yet…

    5 x Eneloop UOMO delivered $84.87, ~$17 per pack!!

  • +1

My Eneloops arrived today nice and glittery ROUGE pink doh. (only ordered one UOMO pack)
I guess it doesn't matter too much as I won't see them in my camera etc..

    • I hope I get that one… that is the only one I am missing out of all the colours that DSE had on sale.
