Notes

  • Minimum $50 spend per transaction.
  • Discount also applies to postage.
  • A maximum discount of $100 applies to each transaction (Transactions totalling at least $666.67 including postage will give you the maximum $100 discount).
  • Up to 3 transactions per person.
  • Payment must be done through PayPal.
  • Discount can be applied to items sold by overseas sellers, as long as you checkout on eBay.com.au.
  • You can purchase multiple items (even from different sellers) in one transaction by adding them to your cart. However, make sure all items are in the same currency. Otherwise, you'll have to checkout in each currency separately and each currency you checkout with will count as a separate transaction.
  • PayPal transactions will show the full amount after the purchase. However, if you login to your PayPal account, find the transaction(s), and click details, you will see a 15% contribution from eBay plus your actual charge to your funding source which makes up the difference. The total needs be 100% because the seller gets 100%. eBay just pays the 15% and you pay the rest. It should look something like this http://i.imgur.com/afbCvki.jpg (Image courtesy of ezarc - Obtained from previous 15% off offer).
  • Items can be 'purchased' before the promotion starts (ie. Auctions ending before 10am Sunday). Payment is to be made during the promotion period with the coupon code applied at checkout.
  • Don't forget to claim your 2% Cash Rewards cash back.
  • Or earn 2 Virgin Velocity Points for every $1 spent from Virgin Velocity.

  • If the seller has made it that I have to pay straight after buy it now then is there a way around this so that I can add it to the other items that I've bought to apply the discount?

    • +3

Can't you just add to cart compared to "commit to buy"/"buy it now?"

      • Silly me, worked thanks :)

  • +1

    Any decent chromebooks?

  • What to do when you have to request the freight total from a seller? No guarantee the seller will supply the total tonight.

    • +2

      You have till tomorrow night.

  • +9

    Things I've bought: Nothing.

    I win :)

  • I need to get my total order over $50. I'm only a few dollars short. Can someone please recommend me a decent standard size brand name cordless mouse for business computer use. Not gaming.

Also I went through and added some item to the checkout. But haven't paid yet. Can I still go back to cashrewards and start there before checkout.

    • I have Logitech m235, really good and cheap. Battery lasts a year

    • Hi, I use a logitech m705 mouse. I would highly recommend it for bussiness use as it is ergonomic and has a good 2-3 battery life.

Not sure about the cash rewards but I dont see a problem as long as you still haven't paid.

  • +1

Bought the Bose QC20i for $263.50 after 15% off. After TRS it will cost me $235. Bargain!!

        I have BP's 100Mbps Ultimate Cable.

  • I'm trying to buy this oneplus 64GB (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/OnePlus-ONE-64GB-3GB-RAM-Android-…), however it's giving me this error message "Doesn't post to Sydney Metro", pretty much all regions in Australia are in the exclusion list. However dozens people have successfully purchased it today, I wonder how they managed to do it.

    Thanks.

    • Listing has been removed

      Here's the white variant http://m.ebay.com.au/itm?itemId=221504166949
      Not as sexy haha

      • That's from DWI, a different supplier and pricing.

The one I linked was showing this Doesn't post to Sydney Metro since this morning for me, if you click history though, clearly quite a few people bought it today between 3-8pm.

        • Oh my bad! Thought it was the same since DWI's one as well as your link said it was removed.

    • For the price difference I would buy from the known 'quality' of DWI as opposed to that seller who excludes shipping to everywhere in their listing

    • I came across that deal also, I quess they dont want our money.

    • I got one from this listing yesterday afternoon. By the evening they had changed teh listing to say doest post to sydney. They have updated the listing a few times in the past couple of days. Maybe it is due to stock levels. Keep an eye on it adn it may change soon. good luck.

  • +5

Wow, bought a lot of things off my watchlist and finally found a reason to change from ios to android, saved $97 off 9 items totalling $650 before discount. Decided to buy a big 6" android rather than paying a ridiculous amount for an iphone 6+.

Wonder if I can talk myself into anything else to buy tomorrow!

    • I was trying to make the move too, but eBay went down. Maybe it's a sign.

      • Not many phones bigger than 6", did you buy the Sony Xperia Z Ultra or the Samsung Galaxy Mega? They are the true phablets these days I reckon haha

        • I bought the xperia t2 ultra - had a play with the z ultra today and it's a brilliant machine, but it's huge! I want to have a chance at pocketing the phone instead of needing a manbag. the t2 is smaller in dimensions but the screen size is virtually identical, and the main things for me are battery life and camera, which i think are a little better in the T2. Plus as my first android device didn't want to spend a lot (just in case I don't like it)!, though the price difference between the two is only about $50.

      • HTC One M8 acquired.

  • Hmmm might hold off until I get the PayPal credit from TA's deal. Wonder if the %off discount from that could have stacked with this…

  • +4

    Wow eBay is down ;-(

    • Yep. Just as the item I was going to bid on ended.

      • Luckily managed to get my bid in, just can't sign in to pay. Lucky the promo runs over two days.

    • Yea can't login anymore…

  • +28

Sorry, might be my fault, i have about 30 tabs open.

    will close them now.

    • Hurry up man, I'm waiting.

All the Americans logged on for their 15% off. . It's 10am there now right?

eBay Australia are celebrating their 15th anniversary in Australia

      • +4

Who's to say they aren't still excited by eBay Australia's 15th birthday?

  • Wow, Ebay down…well that's a first!

    • Definetely! Been using it since the beginning & never seen anything like this.

Me thinks they deliberately shut it down the server to minimise losses from having to compensate all those 15% cuts.

Server will be back online 1min before midnight on Mon.

  • +3

lolol good work ozbargain.. ebay down :(

  • What is the current best modem for ADSL2+??

    • I bought this…

      http://www.dlink.com.au/home-solutions/dual-band-wireless-ac…

…a couple of months ago. It's been great so far. A doddle to set up, and also stayed "up" while I was away for a week with no dramas (unlike everything Netgear that I've ever endured).

      • yes, this is a great modem, mine has so far connected for 29 days straight.

        • +2

Billion 5200G - 5 years straight other then when power has gone out or I moved house lol

        • @Danstar: billion bipac 8800 acl running since may when I bought it and doubled my speed.

  • Spent a good few hours looking for stuff I don't need then realised the true intent of this sale… Impulse purchasing. I was looking for a good price on an iphone 6 but seems ebay is full of greedy sellers and stores overpricing it to the max. If I wanted to pay full price, I would buy from the apple store direct and get my 2% cashback.

  • +5

I think we have broken eBay….I can't get to the checkout at the moment.

    • eBay just kicked me out as well.

  • +3

Bought a Synology DS414J earlier (Thx OP).

  • ebay server is down now

Ding dong eBay's dead, which eBay? AU eBay!

OzB Achievement: Successfully DDOS attack eBay AU. Tick.

  • Can anyone confirm that there is no macbook bargain tonight? I am looking at the 13" air, which is offered by kogan for $1049 minus $100 discount, which results in $949. Nice, but as it will be shipped from hong kong I will most likely have to pay about $100-200 of GST and taxes in australia, right? Thank you.

    • doubt you will be charged gst if its $49 over.. anyways ebay is still down for me atm..

      • I doubt they are tolerant. I don't really want to risk it. If my parcel will be assessed then I would have to pay… Maybe someone can share their experience. http://www.customs.gov.au/site/page5549.asp

        • +15

          Customs Clerk here,
If the value of the goods minus any "applicable rebates" (i.e. cash discounts) bring it below the 1000AUD import threshold, it shouldn't be eligible to be assessed for duties and taxes.
If it does, you can show the customs broker/forwarder preparing the entry your evidence of payment (PayPal receipts and bank statement with discount) which should show that the price paid for the goods is actually lower than 1000AUD.
See S154 (1) of the Customs Act:

          http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/cth/consol_act/ca1901124/…
"price" , in relation to goods the subject of a contract of sale, means an amount determined by a Collector, after disregarding rebates in relation to those goods…

          http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/cth/consol_act/ca1901124/…
"rebate", in relation to goods the subject of a contract for sale, means any rebate of, or other decrease in, the amount that would constitute the price of the goods other than such a rebate or decrease the benefit of which has been received when that amount is being determined

TL;DR: If you actually pay the discounted price and have the associated financial documentation to prove this, you are sweet.

Also, FYI Customs really DO care even if the goods are 50 dollars over the threshold - I see customers all the time get stung for roughly 200 bucks in duty, GST and customs entry fees (56.20 alone) because their goods are even 0.50AUD over the threshold (when everything gets converted from USD).

        • Thanks for the informative post, I'll keep that in mind for the future.

        • @Schnell:
Possibly best post I've read on Ozbargain, ever. Should be added to a wiki.

I've travelled (and claimed) plenty, but have never written a post so clearly or validated.

        • +1

@Schnell: Yeah, very helpful post indeed, thank you very much! I feel good about purchasing now. Let's see how it works out in practice.

        • @Schnell: wouldn't 'after disregarding rebates in relation to those goods' mean that the rebates are disregarded? I.e. original price?

        • @herzy: I can understand how this may be misinterpreted, however in this circumstance, "disregard" essentially means "deduct" i.e. the rebate does not factor in to the price of the goods, provided the discounted price was actually paid.
Good point though - I'm actually studying Customs valuation now and can tell you that the legalese in the Act gets very tedious to navigate after a while…

This it being down was good timing for me. Expected an auction I big $250 on would go over it is has in the past. But won it for $210…score! lol

    • Yes but the seller could challenge this against Ebay and may ask for a re run on the Auction.

      • maybe, he sells one every time the auction finishes. I'd be happy to pay the difference.
