Notes

  • Minimum $50 spend per transaction.
  • Discount also applies to postage.
  • A maximum discount of $100 applies to each transaction (Transactions totalling at least $666.67 including postage will give you the maximum $100 discount).
  • Up to 3 transactions per person.
  • Payment must be done through PayPal.
  • Discount can be applied to items sold by overseas sellers, as long as you checkout on eBay.com.au.
  • You can purchase multiple items (even from different sellers) in one transaction by adding them to your cart. However, make sure all items are in the same currency. Otherwise, you'll have to checkout in each currency separately and each currency you checkout with will count as a separate transaction.
  • PayPal transactions will show the full amount after the purchase. However, if you login to your PayPal account, find the transaction(s), and click details, you will see a 15% contribution from eBay plus your actual charge to your funding source which makes up the difference. The total needs be 100% because the seller gets 100%. eBay just pays the 15% and you pay the rest. It should look something like this http://i.imgur.com/afbCvki.jpg (Image courtesy of ezarc - Obtained from previous 15% off offer).
  • Items can be 'purchased' before the promotion starts (ie. Auctions ending before 10am Sunday). Payment is to be made during the promotion period with the coupon code applied at checkout.
  • Don't forget to claim your 2% Cash Rewards cash back.
  • Or earn 2 Virgin Velocity Points for every $1 spent from Virgin Velocity.

  • Missed an item because of website went down

  • Ebay down. I have not paid it. I will lose 15% of the bidding price.

  • Will be interesting to see how they recover from this. I'd be so pissed if my listings were ending while ebay was down, you'd miss all the snipers waiting till the end of the auction to bid. I've never heard of anything like this with eBay before.

However, those fellow OzBargainers with lowball bids on items that have now ended, congratulations!!

    • Yep my wife had 4 selling auctions ending while this has been going on, with heaps of watchers on them and now theyve sold for less than expected, she's devastated.

  • any limit of how many items can be in one transactions? i have like $4-5-6 things so to make minimum $50 i will have 10-15 items…

also, after put in code, can we see the confirmation code is working?

    • Yes. You put in the code before you pay and it comes up with the amount discounted

  • My ebay is going super slow :(

  • I think the anonymous group must have been behind this.

    • anonymous? You mean the ozbargain group ;)

      • +1

Yes, we are anonymous, we are unforgiving.

  • Ebay being ozbargained??

    • doubt that is possible :).
Someone mentioned about USA coming online at their 10am now.

  • I've hit my 3 transaction limit:
    1) Sapphire 290X + Stuff for the Weber Q200 (Trivet, Pizza Stone, Cover).
    2) Samsung Evo SSD 1TB and 4TB Green HD.
    3) Lawn Mower, Sandisk 128GB MicroSD, Nokia CR-200 mobile car cradle, Xbox live membership, 2 games for the 3DS, Wii U Pro controller and PS4 stand.

Thanks for the suggestions from the posts… Now I have to work overtime.

    • +3

I think you need to lay down first. You must be very exhausted.

      • I did spend a lot of spare time browsing whilst I was waiting for Cashrewards to come back online…

    • Link for the 290X?

      Thanks :)

      • It was a second hand Tri-X that I got for $485 before discount.

    • where did you buy the accessories for Weber. Will it be cheaper than buying it in store?

      • Got it from the BCF store, as it wasn't discounted during the 50% off sale.

        • how much was shipping for all those Weber stuff?

        • No combined shipping so it was $5 each for the Trivet and cover, and $14 for the pizza stone (got it through amazonoutdoors)

    • It's going to be like Christmas for you when all those deliveries arrive

  • ebay.com isn't working either

    • Same with eBay.Co.uk

      • +2

        Conspiracy much?

Maybe their birthday present to the world was shutting down globally & perminently?! Or was it karma for charging extortianate selling fees?

  • +1

The item I was expecting to buy SOLD for $8X… Usually $200+

    • Don't think the seller will honour the winning price when it is obviously eBay's fault.

  • I can not pay. It says "This page can’t be displayed"

  • +4

    ha! ebay gone down!

    • dammit cannot sign in!

  • This will be front page news tomorrow throughout the globe. Think of how much money they have lost.

    • Or saving…

    • Its not the money ebay lost, its the money the sellers are losing. Lucky my auctions finished 1 hour before the crash otherwise id be pretty peeved.

    • Premeditated server shutdown to save money…or was it just the eneloops running the servers going flat?

  • +2

eBay is down at the moment for me!

    • +3

      Yes, only for you man.

      • No! Really?! Ya don't say?

        • really down!!!
Pinging ebay.com.au [66.135.215.61] with 32 bytes of data:
          Request timed out.

        • @stellaaddicted:

Yep not just me. I can't connect to the website.

  • Can you buy multiple items under $50 and combined them? If so, how do you go about doing this?

    • +2

      yes, you can.

    • +2

Yes you can. Use the 'add to cart' option'.

    • +2

You need to buy them using their "Cart" system, and it must be all the same currency. It only groups identical currency items, so AUD + AUD etc. If you add something which is USD it will still show in the cart but it will be a separate "cart" so that will count as a second transaction.

    • I purchased multiple items from different sellers, but didn't use Add To Cart. They were all in AUD, when I clicked Pay now for one of them it listed them all and I applied the voucher to the total.

  • +1

i cant bare and watch all these iphone's go cheap as no one can bid…AHHHH
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Apple-iPhone-4s-16GB-Black-Smartp…

  • Angry comments on FB page begin.

Jeez eBay already had a terrible financial quarter, I guess bad things come in twos. lol

  • +3

u serious … Ebay.com.au is DOWN for everyone.

    • -6

Agreed Ebay has been down since before 9:15pm

      • That's worth a negative? It's one of the most significant networks in the world obviously the extent of the traffic is having an impact. Has been down bugger all in tha last ten years. Like building a hundred lane highway and telling everyone that there is free money at the end of it, I am sure it will get clogged.

  • Sennheiser HD600 headphone only 1 seller at $415 before discount. Worth it? Been wanting this headphone for the longest time, it'll finally give me a reason to buy an AMP/DAC stack as well haha.

    • +2

Kogan has it for $299 + del.

Get a good DAC though for those headphones.

    • easily found under $300 grey import… sennheiser has ridiculous region pricing

    • +1

I would probably wait. Amazon (in various countries) and Massdrop often have sales on the HD600 and HD650 @ various prices below $350.

No big sales on right now though

      • Lowest on amazon has been $251 usd + ship (might need forwarder)
Massdrop prices are just horrible and takes longer to ship than items from Shenzhen.

Kogan or dwi will be your best bet, granted they're listed on ebay.

        • That's true. I bought my HD650s from Amazon.fr a year and a half ago about $290. link. If bargainerftw doesnt want to wait an unpredictable amount of time for a sale, Kogan or DWI would be a good bet!

  • Ebay is DOWN!!

  • +1

    Historical Moment…1 Minute Silence Please

  • -2

Great, I had just committed to purchasing an item for $600+. If eBay doesn't come back online tonight, will I have to pay full price for the item? I only bought it now for the discount ($100).

    • -7

They should give us another extra 5%, first 2 hours wait with cashrewards and now this…

    • +2

The discount is for all of Monday as well.

    • -4

So why did someone neg me for asking a question?

      • +2

I'm guessing because you didn't pick up that the voucher is valid til midnight tomorrow night?

        • what if ebay does not come back before midnight tomorrow night?

  • -1
  • so what's stopping someone to buy an item off themself and even after all the fees you still come out 5% on top?

    • nothing

    • More like 3% after paypal. If you wanted to scam ebay, should have done it on the BBQ event, heaps of people did.

  • Can browse eBay fine, but when I go to purchase something it just times out or doesn't load. Sigh.

  • ebay ever down before? big news!

  • From their facebook:

This has already been escalated to our Technical Team for further investigation. Please try it again within an hour or two. We appreciate your patience.

    • +2

      Two hours? Amateurs…

  • +2

Yep eBay down for me too. Bugger was just about to buy a few things. At least the code doesn't expire until tomorrow night.

  • +1

    Its up for me?

  • so pissed. my 2 listings have all just ended :(

  • ebay down :(

  • So is the minimum $50 including or including shipping?

  • I can still bid and search fine. Just can't pay.

  • FFS. I'm giving up. Can't even add stuff to my watchlist.

  • -2

    It's working for me :S

  • site so dead not funny anymore. Twitter replies are hilarious

"Please try it again within an hour or two. We appreciate your patience."

  • +1

eBay just got nuked by hackers at http://www.alibaba.com

  • Wow, now the rest of the world is celebrating their b'day and it's getting hammered!
oh wait, it's up again and the 15% is for the AU store only (I think).

  • Bugger, I managed to login and buy something but it timed out before I could pay. I'll just fix it up tomorrow morning I guess.

  • +3

Just tried the mobile app (iOS). appears to be fine (and more responsive than usual), but haven't purchased anything. Can login, search, etc

Get in there and bidding on those items finishing now, while no one can access the web site!!!!
    bargains to be had people

    • no can do. you go to view an ite on the app, and it logsyou out!

      • Mine is working fine. placed a bid and it went through (tried on a newish listed iphone, if ebay stays down for the next 7 days i'm getting a 16Gb 5s for $1.50!)

    • It's very likely that the purchase will be cancelled if there is a major price difference because of the issues. Otherwise the seller will be very angry and urinate on your item

  • ebay fb: There seems to be a global issue affecting intermittent access to the site. We apologise for the inconvenience and are looking into the issue as quickly as we can.

    • +2

      Global….Sure….it was the Aussie professionals…

    • I thought the whole eBay AU crews are enjoying a grand birthday party and laughing at us. Thank god, they are fixing…

  • Still confused with the time:

    OP says

eBay Australia are celebrating their 15th anniversary in Australia and will be holding a 15% off site-wide event.

The sale starts at 10am AEST this Sunday 14th (not midnight as mentioned in some articles) and will run until 11:59pm on Monday 15th.

    But the official link:
    http://media.ebay.com.au/ebay-celebrates-15-years-australia

To celebrate eBay.com.au’s birthday, there will be 15% off site-wide for 48 hours starting at 12am Sunday September 14, ending Monday September 15 12pm.^

Obviously according to official release it is only 36 hours, not the claimed 48 hours.

    • This has been discussed, its 11:59.

  • +2

Tech staff on duty probably busy eating the birthday cake. I'll come back for more tomorrow. Tomorrow is another day…

    • +1

We "buy another day" while the "servers die another day".

See what I did there? :P

  • How good is this, here have a discount on our birthday PSYCHE - YOU CAN"T BY SHT HAHAHA*

  • can't bloody log in lol…. ozbargained

  • +1

Ebay advert was just on TV…. But eBay down…
