TWO Logitech UE Boomboxes, (BONUS Headphones) $49.07 Delivered @ DSE eBay

730
CELEBRATE15

Credit goes to Trent86 for original deal, but I noticed that if you buy 2 from the Dick Smith Ebay store, its $4.95 shipping for both, and you can apply the ebay 15% coupon off as well bring it down to just shy of $50.

As pointed out, could easily be a price error, but worth a shot

EDIT: Just got off the phone with DSE online and they can't say if its an error or not. Might be worth a punt but remember, if it seems too good to be true…

        • @edfoo:

          was that posted on here?

        • @CVonV: Yep. The laptop deal was a few months ago. This speaker bundle I got it this time, waiting for delivery to my home later today (looks like everyone is receiving only the earphone today, no Boombox. Will have to wait and see).

    • +2

However the invoice says it contains just the headphones. Package name is something that they gave to mislead people. Also used the picture.

Lets see when someone gets the parcel for real.

      • Just noticed this too.

If it is only the headphones then I will ask for what it is described as, a bundle or at least a Wireless Speaker of that particular model number.

      • My invoice says 2 x boombox and 2 x headphones.

Shipping confirmation only says 2 x boombox

    • not sure why people are negging you reporting greed of other people…?

      • +12

        Must be that two persons.

    • I think someone must make a living out of the purchase. Shame!!!

Hope DS won't honour the orders…

    • +1

Must be selling it at their store PrickSmith.

  • +3

I have ordered this before. You should actually get 2 separate tracking numbers because the headphones and boom box get sent individually and usually from different warehouses.

Most likely your tracking number is for the headphones because that's what I had received first.

  • ok this is strange, i got error after i paid using paypal, so i thought it got sold out just after i authorised paypal…

but it turned out the payment was completed, but i cannot see the order in my account.

does it mean there was no order fulfilled? how do i get the payment back?

  • Anyone got additional one they do not want? Happy to pay $50 for one.

    • +1

      lol good luck

check ebay and gumtree in a weeks time

      ..professionals

      • Ask the two guys that bought 30 and 13.

        • +4

Yep, parasites using Ozbargain as a wholesale tool.
Phuck them. I would have really liked one of these.

Can anyone sell me one if they have a spare

    • +1

It's easternculture who has been very helpful in OzBargain here. No need to neg him for asking once in a while.

      • Oh so some people are more equal than others i see..

        • Yep. More equal than President Clinton :P

    • +1

    • +2

      @Fincky bitter much?

      • a few more people bitter than just Fincky I guess :P

        • +3

I'm sad that 29 other ozbargainers missed out for someone who is going to sell them for a profit

  • Has anyone else who purchased through eBay had an invoice emailed yet?

    • My order confirmation from ebay gives estimated delivery date of next Monday.
No tracking number though, this will probably come when wrapped up and dispatched.

  • +1

I still can't believe this Boombox and that headphone for just 26 AUD @@. I mean what???

  • Well just buying the headphones cost $29 so your paying even less for a headphone + UE speakers. I understand its the sellers problem if they sell at the wrong price on Ebay.

    • Even the headphones are decent quality, ued to have RR +-$100 for a while. Easily worth $50 if you can @ home, or you might like/get use to the purple colour. The speaker is of great quality, can even get a larger battery to increase stamina further.

  • Still no email from dse, it's shows awaiting fulfilment on their website.

  • +1

I don't actually want one of these…. But is the eBay link working again? Seemed to work all the way up to confirm sale step.

    • It said 0 stock.

      • i see that now, but when i looked last night I could add to the cart and checkout. i did everything except confirm payment (only becasue I didn't actually want it)

  • I purchased it from the DSE website. Mine has been shipped from Sydney coming to Nunawading, VIC.

  • When do you reckon ebay orders will be shipeed?

  • Anyone still on 'Awaiting Fulfillment' on the DSE order page? :?

  • Anyone who used paypal to checkout got their order shipped? Mine is still processing.

  • I used paypal but purchased from the dick smiths store. Not the ebay store. My package is onboard with driver this morning so looking forward to seeing what's in the package. Kinda like christmas. :).

    • Thanks, i did thr same. Strange its been slow

  • I ordered mine via DSE website, but it is still stuck on "Awaiting Fulfillment". Anyone else on the same boat?

    • +1

Just called them. Out of stock even though they let me place the order. Offered me a refund or be placed on a waiting list. Being an OzBargainer, no brainer which one I chose :P

      • when exactly are they letting the rest of us know? -_-;

  • I received my order today. Only received headphones (which were also the wrong color). Hoping the boombox comes in another delivery!

    • yeah i just received mine too, headphones only. They haven't sent anything about the speakers.

      • +1

I just called Dick Smith and they told me that the boombox is awaiting pickup by the courier and should be delivered within 3-5 business days. In regards to the wrong coloured earphones, they said its a bonus item and is the only colour they currently have.

        • Were you given a new tracking id? Because I'm currently in the same boat as you.

        • @noobkiller69:

I didn't ask for one! The staff member said she contacted the warehouse and that it is awaiting the courier. Did you get the right coloured earphones? She also did mention that they tend to send the bonus item first.

        • So the speaker is just on its way from a different warehouse and also no tracking number for that?

        • @Farkface:

That is what she indicated. I am not sure about the separate tracking number. The initial tracking number indicated "Delivered" so I guess that was for the earphones.

        • @soljah1993: I did get the right coloured headphones, which was the white one.

    • ouch. lol.

  • Oh doesn't look good for the speakers! Sounds like they'll be getting a few emails/calls about this one.

  • +1

i feel sorry for the guy who bought 30 of these.

    • +7

      i don't!

    • Broden: "well… off to the dick smith store with 30 headphones for refund"

  • Just received my package, also just the headphones only.

    • Havent got mine yet. But what can we do? i mean its unfair i dont receive what i ordered which was clearly stated in its website: bundle boombox AND headphone

      • Well I've sent them an email to see what the current situation is, maybe the speakers are posted separately?

        • Looks like they are. Fingercrossed.

  • Has anyone who has received headphones only contacted Dick Smith?

    • Sometime they may send out in two packages.

    • Yes, I've sent an email through and waiting for them to respond. Will update you all once I get something back.

  • Just got off the phone with their call centre, and was told that the store had no stock. However, I was told to wait until Thursday for an update. Just gotta wait and see I guess.

    • ah well, better than a cancelled order

  • Just received a package got the headphones but no Boom box?

  • Yep i got just the headphones as well. Just sent them an email to see what the deal is. Lets see what happens now!

  • For those that received only headphones: refer to unity1 comment, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/161342?page=1#comment-2244… perhaps you don't need to worry just yet.

  • For those that received headphones, did you guys all receive the confirmation email from DSE stating that your order has been shipped with:

    This delivery includes:
    Quantity
    Description
    Product code
1 x Logitech UE Wireless BoomBox
    C 7625PAC3

    as the content?

also with just a single link to a tracking number?

Edit: I'm confused as to why they'd send a confirmation email saying boombox and send out headphones instead (i haven't received anything as of yet though)

    • That is the exact email I got too. And yep, just single consignment, which when I check it now is all signed off in the system. I'll give it a few more days until I lodge a dispute with paypal.

      • From the comments above looks like we have no choice but to wait and hope that they email out another tracking number (I've already resigned to going home to a set of headphones and no boombox)

  • +2

Yeap headphones only for me too, I think chances of receiving a 2nd package are slim. I'd really like to hear what DSE have to say about this?

  • +6

on the other hand, would love to see the facial expressions of the greedy bastards that ordered 30 (and 13).. when they opened up their package only to find it contained 30 (13) sets of headphones and no boombox

  • Received just the headphones this morning too… :(
Have sent off a query requesting the whereabouts of the missing BoomBox, and will let them respond. Hopefully @soljah1993 is correct and they are being shipped soon too.

No second tracking number received though, so I'm not holding my breath. If DSE plan on not making good on the BoomBox deliveries then I will certainly be requesting a full refund, on the condition I get to keep the headphones.

After all, the headphones WERE advertised as the bonus/freebie by DSE, so if they can't deliver on the rest of the deal, why should we be charged for the bonus item? ;)

    • I won't be looking for just a refund. I want what was advertised or equivalent.

It is their problem if they made a mistake. Otherwise it is false and misleading advertising. It will cost them much more than the $200 speakers if I need to take them through QCAT to get a positive outcome.

      • Im with you mate!

      • +6

DSE T&C cover their price mistake errors

        • -1

their T&C surely wouldn't cover false advertising though? description of advertised item sold (on the invoice as well) not matching what is actually received

        • @kenny0730:

i.e. price mistake for the Boombox

        • "Thank you for shopping with Dick Smith
Your order has been accepted and your Tax Invoice is attached to this email."

as far as I'm aware at this point we have a contract, as they have accepted the offer. (Not the initial automated email). I'm also prepared to take them to QCAT.

        • @michael991:

"Thank you for shopping with Dick Smith
Your order has been accepted and your Tax Invoice is attached to this email."

That is pretty much a standard response with orders from most online shops

          Its an automatic reply.

        • @easternculture:

it was actually sent almost 2 hours after buying the speaker (not the original email)

        • @easternculture:
the original email was an 'order acknowledgement'-that's the automated email

        • @kenny0730:

You are heading down the correct path.

Terms and conditions don't over ride the Australian Consumer Law. A store can make a mistake with pricing in a physical store, but advertising is very different. Falsely advertising a price distorts the market, such as people asking Officeworks to match the special. If Officeworks did then they would lose money on the deal. There are many other related reasons as well.

From memory if costs are awarded against Dick Smith in QCAT, the fee is $550.

Also the issue goes further because Dick Smith issued me an invoice and charged my credit card, so a contract has been entered into.

      • +1

Pretty sure they can't be held accountable for 'mistakes'.
maybe you'll see an apology in the local paper, but that's about all you'll get (along with a refund) if they deem it a mistake.

But i reckon stop panicking… you'll get ur speakers by the sounds of things from people who have spoken to DS reps.

        • But Mistake twice? One on the official website another on the ebay site. and if its a Mistake why dont they just cancel the order right away instead of sending approved invoices and shipping things out?

      • +6

I hate the sense of entitlement some of you web jockeys have.

No business is going to sell products at a loss like this… its clearly a price error, website error, PAC error.

Sure lets hope it gets honoured somehow… but you made the purchase full well knowing DickSmith would be losing money on this, you haven't been deceived or misled - you/we are just taking a chance that it might work out.

        /rant over

        • +5

If it is an error, I would expect a refund. I don't expect them to run out and buy up stock of the Boombox for hundreds of dollars a piece just to fulfill the orders.

BUT it is not so clearly an error, for three reasons.

          1. It was labelled a MEGA sale. They have sold them for $48 previously (a month ago maybe?) - http://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/39370/24488/image.jpg

          2. If they intended to sell JUST the headphones for the $27 - that's a sale of two dollars and change compared to the price before the sale. I would not call that MEGA.

          3. From the dicksmith.com.au website they charged $10 shipping - that's invoiced as shipping for 2-10kgs. Other headphones only have $5 shipping.

        • There is also nothing about this model on the Logitech website other than in the support section. This could indicate that it has been discontinued. Maybe this is really a clearance sale.

        • +1

          @adamonline:

This is the exact reason why I purchased - I checked the Logitech/UE site first too and the UE Wireless BoomBox was no longer listed on it other than in the support section, so I was fairly confident it was a genuine clearance. They did use the word MEGA Sale too. (Taking $2 off the standard sale price of a $29 headphone is NOT a 'MEGA Sale'!)

I work in the IT distribution arena (definitely not for Dick Smith or Logitech though - so all comments below should be deemed hypothetical) and I can confirm that on occasion directives are received from vendors to clear their stock ASAP, sometimes at any reasonable cost too, because a new range or model is coming in that they think they can make more sales or profit with.

The cost of discounting in these instances is commonly borne by the vendor too, often in the form of a sell-through rebate being paid to the other party. i.e. Hypothetically speaking, Dick Smith could have been paid by Logitech to sell these units to the market 'below cost'.

Maybe there could be an entirely new range of Wireless Speakers that Logitech, or another brand - or even Dick Smith themselves - want to introduce to market via DSE stores in the coming weeks, and want these UE Wireless BoomBox speakers out the door first. Perhaps they want to prevent in-store confusion between the old range and new range, or maybe Logitech want to target a new price point for a new range.

Timing-wise, the iPhone 6 is just around the corner so it could even possibly be related to that. Also looking at the calendar, September is a great month to clear stock if you want a new range stocked and successfully promoted in time for Christmas.

For those of you thinking Dick Smith could not afford to sell at the $26 price point, I won't give away all industry secrets but it is safe to say DSE will probably not be paying anywhere near what you think for these bundles, likely nowhere near the retail price… So they would (probably) not be losing $200 per bundle…

It's pretty obvious there was only a small amount of stock left too as they sold out in just 1-2 hours. So, again hypothetically, if a vendor were to offer a sell-through rebate of $50-75/unit to DSE to clear their last 200-300 units in stock… And DSE were buying the bundles at the ~$75-100 mark, then DSE could certainly sell at a $26 price point without seeing a loss!

It might cost the vendor $10-20k, but the Retailer would now have clear shelves and clear warehouse space to potentially accept 10's of 1000's of units from a new range.

Spending $10-20k on a clearance deal now in order to secure a new multi-million dollar order from a Retail chain and ensure your products are stocked and promoted in time for Christmas might be what some would call 'very smart use of vendor marketing funds'… ;)

In any case, I'm looking forward to receiving an update from DSE on this in the next 24 hours. Fingers crossed it is a genuine clearance and the BoomBoxes are in fact coming in a second-round shipment!

        • +1

It isn't a sense of entitlement.

It is making sure companies are held to account for the offers they make. I see so many breaches of the Australian Consumer Law every day. I don't have time to even raise them with businesses, because most don't care unless there is bad PR or it costs them serious money.

If Dick Smith takes a hit on this case then they will learn the importance of putting systems into place to ensure their advertising is compliant.

Now if I really wanted to give Dick Smith a hard time I would take them to court, where they are going to have to pay my legal costs and they are likely to end up with a fine from either the court or from one of the State fair trading departments or the ACCC taking them to court afterwards.

        • @not a bargain:
"making sure companies are held to account for the offers they make"

Because you are out there fighting the good fight on behalf of your brother and sister consumers everywhere, right?
Nah, you just want a cheap/nearly free speaker.

  • Their FB customer service is so slow as well. I've just been told to expect a 24 - 48 wait on a response.

  • +1

Someone asked dick smith a question about this deal on their facebook page yesterday while it was on asking if you get both items. They replied saying they would check and get back to them. They haven't replied yet……..
