    Any free shipping items to save on shipping?

    • Did a quick search and seems all free shipping labels have been removed. Tell me if I'm wrong.

    • FREE DELIVERY :-)

      I'm still using a basic stylus from an OzBargain free deal.

    • +2

      I received free shiping

      • Ditto!

        • ???

        • @own1313:

          I think he means "I also received free shipping!"

        • -1

          @DAOtmc:
          Oh ok, haha that makes sense!

  • Put time of sale in title.

    I saw 91c & first 300, clicked before I read all the way to bottom of deal description to find I was over 3 hours early.

    • I legit had no idea how to do it, a moderator did it for me instead.

      • Over 500 people have already clicked through to deal not available yet. Time in title would save others time.

        • +1

          I can't fit it man… have you seen how long that title is?

        • +3

          @DAOtmc: remove first 300 orders. That's just marketing spin. They have never enforced that.

        • +2

          @DAOtmc:
          Yes - over wordy title.
          I think every one understands DS I is the abbreviation for "[Dick Smith]", stylus could replace "Grip TOUCH Pen" & is more useful description, etc. That can go in deal description.

          Plenty of room for time limitation …

          "SIMPLISM digital stylus ~$0.91 + Shipping (WAS $17.98) 12-1@DS"
          Not too difficult.

          Time of deal is far more important to deal title than the other padding.

        • +1

          @unity1:

          I thought so! I said that it was just a marketing spin in my other one, but yeah i'll take your advice. Thanks @unity1

        • +2

          @brucefromaustralia:

          I'm going to be honesty, I don't like to abbreviate personally. And people need to read descriptions… This is just my personal opinion, if a moderator wishes to change that I believe they can do so, if not a power user can. But for the time being i'm going to leave it as is.

        • +1

          @DAOtmc:
          You know how to edit title but still think time of deal is unimportant? DS refers to their own business as DS.

          It's a deal title, not a thesis, so requires the major details as per guidelines.

          There's nothing in description that really could not be better put in title in this deal, except discount idea.

          But hiding the vital limitation on this deal (time of deal) at the bottom of deal description because you think people should read deal descriptions…

        • @DAOtmc:

          You could abbreviate DickSmith to DSE to save space and then you could maybe fit 12-1pm.

        • @hollykryten:
          DS has been the abbreviation for DS for a few years since they dropped Electronics from their business name;-)

          Either is quite acceptable on OzBargain. "Old timers" still refer to it as DSE, & business name on OzBargain still includes the word Electronics - due to history of deals going back so many years & differentiate it from Dick's Foods.

          Time will fit after earlier edit.

        • @brucefromaustralia:

          Well yeah you could do DS or DSE doesn't matter too much. Some people actually still refer to Dick Smith as DSE. Either way it will save room in the title so you could easily fit 12-1pm.

          Nearly 900 clicks and the sale hasn't even started yet.

        • @hollykryten:
          I'd say most clicked on deal because they thought deal was active, due to that vital detail being deliberately omitting by OP so people are forced to read deal description first:-(

        • @brucefromaustralia:

          Yep looks like the title has been fixed now after it already got to 940 odd clicks.

        • +1

          @hollykryten:

          Yeah… I saw 900+ clicks, so I changed it. But seriously, people need to read the DESCRIPTION!

        • +1

          @DAOtmc:
          If it's posted on OzB, and it's from DS, it's limited, and it's a decent deal… then people usually don't have time to waste reading the particulars! ;)

        • @DAOtmc:
          Description is for minor details, not one of the most important - when the deal is on! See deal posting guidelines.

        • @DAOtmc:

          Seems people are in too much of a hurry for a bargain to bother firstly reading the description or even properly reading the title for that matter.

          Seems adding the starts noon bit to the title didn't stop people madly clicking away. LOL there will be thousands of clicks before the sale even begins.

        • +2

          @brucefromaustralia:

          Google "DSE" and Dick Smith is the top response.
          Google "DS" and you get a bunch of Nintendo stuff.

          I still think DSE is the better abbreviation.

          http://www.dse.com.au/
          or
          http://www.ds.com.au/

          Only one links back to the "Dick Smith" site.

        • @AnophthalmiaCervidae:
          But we were discussing the written name of a business & it's abbreviation - purely to shorten the OP's title to fit the deal time (ages ago & now fixed without abbreviation), not a web search. Both abbreviations are acceptable as I wrote.

          DS refer to themselves as DS or Dick Smith. Staff have corrected me for using DSE.

          The 'E' / 'Electronics' was dropped from their business name a while back, to reflect their change in business from an electronic component/ kit supplier to a more general store selling lots of items that might not be electronic. It was part of the expensive rebadging of DS in an attempt to increase profits, while still owned by Woolworths.

          But DSE is still used to identify them on websites as that predates the change of business name, and they don't own ds.com.au domain name.

        • @brucefromaustralia:

          I like how you're just so passionate about an issue that I cleared at least a good 30 minutes ago. I've added "Starts Noon" already. Whether or not I abbreviate is a personal decision, and moderators nor power users have found it "bad" thus there's been no change.

        • +1

          @DAOtmc:
          It's not about you or your dislike of abbreviation ;-) That's quite ok with me and probably everyone on OzBargain.

          But you said you did not have room to put the time in, so an abbreviation was suggested.

          Discussion just has been about which abbreviation is best. I have added the historical perspective having been close to DS managers at the time of transition.

          As you found room for the time without abbreviation, all the better.

          Back to the deal…

        • @DAOtmc:
          On OzBargain, there is a saying in these limited offer (said first 300 in title then) cheap deals which basically goes… buy first, work out what it does later. And I was in the market for a discounted stylus.

          I simply followed that mantra, clicked deal link without even opening deal, expecting a listed deal to be live. Found an expensive stylus plus shipping cost.

          Had to go back & open deal posting to find important time detail at bottom of deal description.

          Turned out to be a good deal, so congratulations. My only concern was the totally unnecessary confusion in listing a future deal without saying so. It wastes people's time.

        • @brucefromaustralia:

          Seriously man, the website has a space allocated for literally the time of when it starts. And I actually tried to get moderators to possibly highlight the deal when it started. Who cares, it's over and everyone seemed to get the bargain so much that it ran out of stock before it even expired.

        • +1

          @DAOtmc:

          so much that it ran out of stock before it even expired.

          Hence the reason why we need brief particulars in the title! And hence my comment above!

        • @Snoop:

          Yeah and what I don't get is that I corrected that before it even hit front page with a good 1 hour gap before the deal started. But even when that happened, it still DID NOT stop them from clicking through. It went from 900+ Clicks to 1500+ clicks although I had "STARTS NOON!" in the title. So I still have NO CLUE as to why we're still discussing this…

        • @DAOtmc:
          Like I said, when it comes to cheap deals, especially DS ones, people click like crazy as they don't tend to last too long!
          The $10 gift card for $5 deal yesterday disappeared while I went to the toilet! :(

        • @Snoop:

          It made absolutely no difference when I added the time…

        • +1

          @brucefromaustralia:

          They may have dropped the "Electronics" from their Store branding but it is still used in the actual "Business Name":

          Dick Smith Electronics Pty Limited (ABN 34 000 908 716)

          http://www.dicksmith.com.au/terms-and-conditions

          As you said previously DS or DSE would both be perfectly acceptable abbreviations.

          I guess I'm one of the "Old timers" that prefers the "DSE" name and was just stating my own personal preference for it and giving my reasons why.

          You mentioned Dick Smith Foods above, does anyone actually buy this stuff?
          http://www.dicksmithfoods.com.au/product-range/cream-cheese-…
          I don't know why but I could never bring myself to buy "Dick Cheese".

        • @AnophthalmiaCervidae:
          I didn't exclude myself from the DSE oldtimers… met Dick in the 70s.

          It's the corporate branding which changed. It's still a Dick.

  • Any limits on quantity?

    EDIT: * Invalid quantity Simplism Grip Touch Pen Black has a quantity limit and the maximum you can order is 11. Please update your quantity.

    • 11 for each colour maybe? haha

      • I think this guy's idea actually works ^

  • +2

    Are the pens any good?

  • +2

    Anyone have a comment on this stylus? Have never had one, maybe they're all much the same? Thx

  • +3

    It seems to have free delivery too.

  • Thanks OP. Ordered for $0.91 delivered.

    PS. The lunch time deal ends at 2pm, not 1pm. Although I'm sure they'll sell out by then anyway.

    • +1

  • Thanks op
    Grabbed one

  • Thanks DAOtmc, ordered one with free shipping :)

  • +1

    Can't believe this is $17.98 normally who would pay that when identical ones from ebay are around $1.

    This isn't a pressure sensitive stylus!!!

  • Seriously, who in their right mind is going to pay $18 for a stylus? They're great value though at $1. Thanks OP

  • +2

    I used code "AUCK9S" and got further discount.

  • Not sure, do I really need this? So tempting…

    • +4

    So thanks OP!

  • +2

    all gone :D

  • +1

    I want to report that I had 4 different coluors waiting in the shopping cart. But as an ozbargainer, I frantically search around for the 10% coupon mentioned. When I finally found the code, it became out of stock. I had missed out on the deal trying to save 9c per pen. Lesson for the day: Don't try to be too cheap. I needed one for my new tablet as well.

    EDIT: It is back in stock now. Might buy a blue one for $17.98 fml

    • +7

      You have learned a valuable lesson, wise one. It is better to Ozbargain fast than to Ozbargain hard.

      • +1

        Got it. I'm new here. thank you sensei

    • +1

      Even worse, you would've only saved an extra 1c per pen hunting around as there's a 9% off code conveniently posted at the top!

      • I manage to find the AUCK9S in one of the comments. Didn't even notice it on the top. Now I know where to look for coupon codes if it is mentioned!

    • I seriously do NOT suggest you buy it at that price. It's just not worth it.

  • +2

    Shit I forgot about the code, 9c that I'll never see again.

    • +1

      Try reselling it for $17.98! ;)

      • -2

        I bought 40 - will resell it in my overseas country for $6 at least each piece ;)

  • Thanks got 5 , gives me a reason not to touch users Ipad now

  • …. typical DSE overselling. I received an invoice from them to see that my one is 'Backorder Delay (Approx).' Great. Wonder how long before I actually get it now.

    • Got the same for White model.
      Backorder.

    • Got the backorder message too for the blue one.

  • Subtotal: $17.98
    Delivery: To be calculated
    Discount: -$1.62
    TOTAL
    $16.36

    • expired dude

      • yeah

        that's why I didn't checkout

        so it was selling for 0.91 cent

        the code still works but the price is too high now

        • +3

          the price is too high because the deal is expired. says so at the top ^^^

  • SO I ordered 4 black, and a couple each of different colours (stocking stuffers) and Dick Smith charged accordingly through Paypal.

    BUT the invoice tells me the black ones have been sent and the coloured ones were all on back order, but only mentions the $4 that is for the black ones. I have no receipt from them or acknowledgement at all, of the $10 they'd taken from my paypal account. Is this something I need to follow up or will they eventually get it sorted?

    • I ordered one of each colour. Black has been shipped but no information on the other colours. Don't panic yet.

      • With you

        • All other colours now shipping

  • Just got shipment notification of my blue one which was backordered yesterday.
