  • You guys are on the Nintendo page for 3ds retailers, will you have the new 3ds xl? If so, when and how much?

    • Yes we will receive these Nov 21 - no deals confirmed yet
      https://www.gamesmen.com.au/feature/new-nintendo-3ds-&-3ds-x…

      • Rep, I have just placed the order. Is there any chance you could ship it today so I can have it by tomorrow as I want to make full use of it over the weekend.
        P.S. I'live in Melbourne.

        • +2

All orders have gone into a queue, we are doing everything we can to get as many shipped out with our afternoon pickup, usual cut-off is 3pm, but we're going to squeeze a few more out, the earlier you ordered the better your chances :)

For the GNU/Linux types this mouse will have very strange effects with your window manager! To get it running properly and have all the buttons work I add this section to /etc/X11/xorg.conf:

    Section "InputClass"
        Identifier "Mouse Remap"
        MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/event*"
        MatchUSBID "06a3:0ccd"
        Option "Buttons" "17"
        Option "ButtonMapping" "1 2 3 4 5 0 0 8 9 7 6 12 0 0 0 16 17"
        Option "AutoReleaseButtons" "13 14 15"
        Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5 6 7"
    EndSection

Note: You should use lsusb to confirm that the USBID matches your version of this mouse.

I've had something like four years with this mouse and it is still as great as the day I bought it I got it to play nicely with X.

        Got your back.

OP. Any chance you could do a deal on the RAT9 or the RAT M?
If the price is right, I might even get both. :)

    • I would be interested in the RAT9 as well.

      • what is the difference? i want a smaller mouse as i claw grip

        • The 9 is wireless.

      • Also interested in RAT9 as only use wireless gaming mouses.

        • im selling a second hand one at the moment if your interested, see my classified ad

        • Would you be willing to go any lower? There's around a $50 difference between new RAT7s and RAT9s and yours is used. RAT7 above for $50. Would you do $75 for the RAT9?

  • +1

OP, any chance you make the black one discounted too?

  • link is broken
edit: no wait I think its the work firewall

  • +4

no idea why I need this but bought it. thanks OP

    • no problem :P

  • Sweet. Ordered two!
EDIT: Only cost me 83c extra for postage to have the second mouse which I thought was pretty good.

  • Bought one on impulse..now waiting for people to tell me how crappy the mouse is (Please Don't).

    • I doubt it. I have a friend who has this and he's absolutely in love with it. If you don't like it, you could easily sell it for the same price you bought it. (Especially if you target a Mac user)

      • +2

I feel a bit better now. Just wanted to buy a weird looking mouse for my equally weird looking ASUS Lamborghini lapotp!

        • awesome haha!

    • Ive used the mouse and really dislike it, not sure why but everything about it seemed like a big step down from my Logitech G9.

gave up trying to get used to it and brought a Logitech G502 Proteus Core, which is frigging awesome.

      • +4

        Where did you bring it?

    • I bought 2 as well, my mate loves them - he's a lefty so he chops and re-assembles from righty to lefty. I think its a good buy, as long as they arent DOA :)

  • +4

I personally dislike this mouse, however it's an extremely good deal in terms of RRP vs Bargain Price.

    +1 from me.

    • Yeah, I tried this mouse for a while and didn't like it. Didn't like the customization of it all in the end (I thought I would). However the first mouse I got wasn't working and had to return it.

  • +2

Damn, fantastic price. I usually see this go for more used… if I hadn't just got a g502 I'd be all over this :P

  • Out of stock.

    • Back in stock!

"5X Removable 6g Weights"… awesome, as my hands has been getting a bit flabby recently

    • +10

Probably because the non-mouse hand usually gets the workout

      • left handed browsing ftw

  • +1

Take note that it is quite a wide mouse. So if you have small hands/palms, it wont be very suitable.

I had it all set up to be as 'small' as possible but even then i had to really stretch my fingers for the thumb button and the right mouse button. Given that i had bought it to use for gaming, it really didnt work out in the end.

Fantastic build quality though, feels really solid, but used it for about 4 months before up giving mine away.

  • REP: can I pick it up today?

    • yep, stock is in our showroom and ready to go :)

      • got a family member to pick it up. thank you

  • Showing as sold out now :-(

I got an order in but not sure if it will be on backorder. If so It will be cancelled.

EDIT: Aaaaaand it's back. refreshed after a few minutes and it's back in stock.

  • oh gosh, gimme a break… just spent on COTD… now this… !@(#&!($ so tempted!!

    OP, RAT 9 pleaseee! (y)

  • Pic looks like Robocop without a head.

    • more like if an elephant ate Robocop and pooped him out again.

  • Must ….resist……ughhhhh!

  • Is there anyway to come in store tomorrow and check out the actual size? My hand's quite small and on top of that I use claw grip.

  • +2

Hmm I wonder why the review is not that good especially in terms of the build quality… Apparently only after it was acquired by Mad Catz..
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826201…

    • Thanks for the headsup. I used to have a Cyborg/madcat mouse with the mechanised customisable size thing before. After 1 month it died, and the RMA took longer than that. Ended up sweet talking to the shop owner to get a different mouse so I'd be careful before committing to another mad catz peripheral…

    • Hmm…well, at $50, maybe it's worth the risk… Some people have given it great reviews as well after all.

      • I got it myself, and only read the review after… lol typical ozbargain shopping…
Heard good things about it but just surprised by the amount of bad reviews it had…

  • does this work on PS4, so i can ultra-aim with FPS's ?

  • What is this hideous monster? Kill it, kill it!

    • +4

Hey, at least we now know what happens when a stormtrooper & a droid really love each other…

  • Impulse buy a RAT9 a few weeks ago but it didnt arrive (another site) :( guess ill just buy this now. would prefer a RAT9 if the price drops :)

Id be more excited if the mouse didn't blow.

Shit sensor, tons of gimmicky shit, overpriced. This deal only removes overpriced.

  • +1

Always wanted to try this mouse because of the ability to change grips. Cheers rep.

  • +1

Yeah I'll stick with Logitech. Logitech speakers, mouse , kb and headset. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

    • My Logitech mouse broke after the warranty period AND they fixed it free of charge. Win!

  • +1

I bought one of these like a year ago, from MLN forrr about $120, AMAZING mouse, so ergonomic, fits to anyones hand perf. adjustable weights and grips make it the besttt :)

  • Can you do that deal on the Gloss Red ????

  • +1

Got a message that the mice was shipped. Very happy with the fast service.

    • Thanks for the feedback :) Enjoy your mouse!

  • +1

Should i get this or the Thermaltake eSports Level 10 M Hybrid …………..

    • depends on your style. if fingertip style then go for rat7 coz its smaller and has adjustable weight. grip style & claw style > go for level 10. I have l10 with me now. i dont really like it coz its big and very heavy. oh in terms of build quality, no doubt level 10m is a premium quality mouse!

  • Rep, any chance of the other colours being at the same price please? IMO black looks SLIGHTLY less ugly, plus it'll match the colours of my system.

  • Cheaper than the eBay Group Deal Products offer if you are picking up…

Hi Rep, is there a left handed version of this mouse available?

    • Would like to know this too… :)

    • -6

left handed? you should see a doctor

  • +1

Long time gamer, never had a propper gaming mouse. Time to try one… Good price.

    • +1

you should alternatively look at getting a Logitech G400S. Its quite possibly the most recommended mouse out there. A "flawless" sensor i.e. raw data is sent to the computer instead of data that has been extrapolated to calculate the possible intended interaction. In other words, it doesn't try to predict what you're doing because that would mess with the accuracy of where you're moving the mouse pointer. raw input is basically essential for best performance in FPS.

  • -4

It also features a virginity shield

  • I have the black one of these, I bought it a few years ago. It's a very customisable mouse.

  • Very comfortable looking mouse, reviews are great! Cost only a bit more than standard mouses from rip off retail stores

  • Thanks OP

  • +4

A highly disappointing mouse. I couldn't recommend this less. I tried it out for a few days and went back to my old faithful, the G400S.

The entire mouse is held together with tiny allen key screws, often just a single screw for each part (to enable disassembly/customisation) and hence, it has an incredibly weightless and non-rigid feel to it.

The problem with the customisability is that once you start adjusting the palm rest's or thumb rest's slider position, the weight distribution is completely thrown off (and it starts off rear-biased to begin with). This is only exacerbated if you use any of the supplied weights with it as the mouse becomes even more rear-end heavy to the point where you keep lifting it up inadvertently.

There's virtually no arch in the shape of the mouse so my palm just kept sliding off the back and my fingers sprawled out way beyond where they should rest. I found that unless I had the palm rest on the very last slider position (where it wobbles a lot), it just didn't fit my huge hands.

The left and right click actuation pressure was also far too sensitive, I can't remember the last time I used a mouse where I kept double-clicking inadvertently so many times.

The swappable rests/grips all suck apart from the default ones and the adjustable length/width is a complete gimmick.

Even the "Precision Aim" button under your thumb which drops the DPI down to whatever you need for as long as you hold it, seems like a really good idea, until you realise that in fast-paced FPSs you really don't have time for that. It also gets you too dependent on having an aid, and makes you use your fine motor control less.

The customisability seems like a selling point at first but you quickly lose to keep swapping palm rests, pinky rests and side grips and more to the point, they all feel almost identical with the exception of the extra tall palm rest.

    • each to their own :P

    • Everyone has peripherals they do and don't like, but some of your complaints seem odd.

Inadvertently double clicking could be solved by going into the mouse properties (assuming you're using a Windows machine) and slowing the speed. The sensitivity of the clicks is entirely deliberate, it's a gaming mouse. The button to precision aim isn't meant for "faced-paced FPS" it's meant for things like sniping, where you need to get the accuracy dead-on.

      • Inadvertently double clicking could be solved by going into the mouse properties (assuming you're using a Windows machine) and slowing the speed.

You didn't understand what I said. The actuation pressure of the buttons themselves is far too minimal.

The double-click setting you're referring to simply decides how close together in time, two clicks need to be, for Windows to recognize as them as a double-click.

That does not decide how forcefully you need to press the button for it to register a click.

Simply resting my fingers on the buttons a little too heavily would trigger a click (I'm not talking exclusively about double-clicks). It happened way too often, unlike anything I've seen on the G700, the Razer Mamba, the G400S, the SteelSeries Sensei or $5 OEM optical mice.

The sensitivity of the clicks is entirely deliberate, it's a gaming mouse

As I said, I can't recall having this issue with any other gaming mouse. In games I found myself accidentally firing a weapon, and having to wonder about how heavy my fingers were resting on the feather-weight button switches was a complete turn off.

Because the left and right buttons have a huge surface area that doesn't form a single shell with the rest of the mouse like on most other mice, they are far more acutely sensitive to the pressure of your entire finger resting on them, not just your finger tips, because the weight is so narrowly concentrated instead being spread more evenly across the entire surface of the mouse.

It's a very poorly thought out mouse, particularly, like I said, if you have larger hands.

The lift-off problem also drove me insane with it, it's too damn heavy out of the box even without any weights attached, the back and forth buttons above your thumb are pathetically tiny with no tactile feedback and the driver software is among the worst for gaming peripherals.

The sensor itself is of highly questionable quality, with many people reporting jitter issues with it.

The button to precision aim isn't meant for "faced-paced FPS" it's meant for things like sniping, where you need to get the accuracy dead-on.

Okay, take any other mouse and apply a vigorous amount of pressure with tip of your thumb into the left side of it. Now try to move the mouse around steadily with this ridiculously unnatural grip that raises your palm off of the mouse, while your hand is incredibly tense, and see how accurate you are.

        See a problem?

If it was a toggle, that'd be different. But having to hold down the precision aim button, while trying to steady your aim, with a button mounted far too backward, doesn't do jack sh*t for your accuracy.

You may as well learn to snipe with your normal DPI, rather than become accustomed to a totally unheard of mouse-grip style.

  • Pretty long drive for pickup from my place

via Pacific Hwy and Pacific Motorway 11 h
    927km 10 h 45 min without traffic

    haha

    • For me is a 1426km road trip. Bit of a ways to go to get there.

      • +2

About 5 for me… But with the kids whinging the whole way, feels about the same as you guys.. lol

  • +4

Far out…. fairly sure I remember this company from back in the 80's when they did mail order. Amazed they are still around.

    • +3

Actually now that you mention it I think I remember them as well. I think they had TV commercials on back in the day?

Edit: Yep! I remember them now!
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkzWmIzYEEo#t=174

      • +2

My mate used to buy mailorder from them sometimes for his Commodore 64 when we were living in Tassie and it was 150km to the nearest game shop, Test Drive 1 springs to mind… oh the glory days.

  • Wow, seems to have some horrendous reviews of falling apart / issues with the sensor and buttons. I was keen to buy but has anyone had experience with the mouse and willing to share those experiences? Especially after a few months of usage? I was hoping to have this mouse last me a few years like all my previous mice.

    • I'd suggest getting a G400S if you want something that will last.

  • +1

I have one of these, the wire broke within 3 months, surprisingly not at the mouse end but at the USB end. Often gets confused by dust on the lens and wanders or moves on only one axis. ie vertically OR horizontally. I paid full price and am annoyed, but for this price its a pretty good deal.

  • Finally bought one after hesitating for years. Thanks Gamesmen!

  • Had the black version one of this, it worked well till the wheel button stopped working, cost me $120 a couple of years ago. Upgraded to the MMO version with extra buttons. I love the little finger rest you can attach to the side. The new tournament version has a higher resolution sensor.
