If you already own an Everyday Transaction Account prior to 19/11/14, refer a friend and you could both receive $50.

When you refer a new EveryDay Transaction Account (ETA) customer, they just need to make sure they provide your ETA account number in the “Additional Information” section – promotion code field.

Terms and Conditions:
New applicant - Open your first EveryDay Transaction Account (ETA) between 19/11/14 - 30/11/14, include the referrer’s ME Bank EveryDay Transaction Account number in the promotional code field and you will receive $50 into your ETA account within 30 days of their account being opened. If you held an EveryDay Transaction Account prior to 19 November 2014 you are ineligible for this offer.

Referrer – You must have an ETA open prior to 19 November 2014. You will receive $50 for each new EveryDay Transaction Account customer up to a maximum of 10 new customers.

$50 bonus will be credited to your ETA within 30 days of your friend’s account being opened.

    - it doesnt mean that the referral account is used is completed until ME Bank approve the application

          @sj2can: Ah I see, thought you just meant the deal link. Unable to login to internet banking, so I googled, "me bank maintenance" and the first link states

          Due to minor system maintenance, from 10pm AEDT on Saturday, 22 November until Sunday afternoon, internet, phone and mobile banking will be unavailable.

          Not able to get that page to appear when navigating within the site though…..

          edit: They posted it on Facebook on the 20th about this.

    I don't seem to be able to select any colour for the debit mastercard.. which prevents me from moving onto the next page on the application form. :\ Tried using Chrome and Safari too.

        Weird thing is, they keep your online banking profile open even if all your accounts are closed (Just logged into mine, showing no accounts).

        So i'll still end up with one account. Guess its not really called "reopening" then.

    Had just spoken to ME bank. Expressed my concern about they taking off the webpage. Pointing out that if they stop the campaign they will be in serious trouble. They have ready benefitted from people spreading our words. Their action would be classified as false advertising. Existing customers' credibility is also damaged as a result.

    I was told as far as She is concerned (Lisa), the campaign is still continuing. She is aware of the issues with their website, webpage not appearing correctly.

    She further clarifies as long as the application is submitted by 30th, it is qualified for the credits. They look at the date of application not the actual date of account open.

      Was this over the phone or via email?
      I find the promo rather misleading. We applied 11 Nov, account was opened 1 Dec. ME tells us today we are not qualified because our account was opened past 30 Nov. ME was literal in stating on the T & C, Open an ETA bet 19-30 Nov 2014.
      I began seeing hope because of Lisa's clarification above.

          I think ME Bank miscalculated just how popular this promotion would be, and the fact that people would be happy to share their account numbers online to get maximum benefit. I passed my details on to 3 family members so hopefully they managed to beat ME Bank yanking the offer. As far as I'm aware no one else has used my code to sign up.

          If ME Bank decides to not honour the 30 November deadline they could be in trouble if someone reports them to the ACCC for false and misleading advertising.

    Guys, I'm pretty sure this is ME banks reasoning:

    MEBANK CEO "Even if we give away 20,000 referral $50s, we just need ~5x to apply for a ME mortgage and we break even".
    High 5s PR team and breaks out Cuban cigars

    I doubt they will pull the promo.

      That would work, if ME Bank could find someone willing to lend a million dollars at 0% to the bank. Banks usually work on a 1 to 2% margin between the cost of funds and the interest pulled in from borrowers.

        ME Bank posted a 47 million dollar profit for the 13-14 tax year. So if they use $1 million of that for this advertising campaign, in the long term that million + more will come back to them as revenue from other products the new clients sign up for…. right? [I am not a banker so this may make no financial sense].

          It's possible… but if the customers are like me then ME Bank will be crying. I never intend to take out a loan with them and only signed up to milk the 5% paywave offer. Getting more customers like me at $100 a pop is extremely expensive.

          Where did the original $50 + $50 link come from? I don't recall seeing it advertised on the front page. Did someone post a link to a page shared between ME Bank employees? That could be a reason the offer has been yanked.

          All we can do is carefully note who signed up and when. If ME Bank refuse to honour their terms and conditions we write to the ACCC.

          If any ME Bank employees are reading this I will be checking my account and that of family members to make sure the $50 per new customer arrives. Family members received print outs of ME Bank's $50 + $50 web page.

    Either way, for accounts that were already open in between the time when the previous promotion went up and came down, if ME Bank don't honour the $50 with no strings attached, then there's grounds for a load of FOS complaints, I guess?

      Unfortunately, by the time there will be a definitive answer on this one, the time to apply for this offer would elapse.

      I'd say that give it a try. As the account has no monthly keeping fees or transaction fees, you will not be worse off for trying.

      Also, did you notice that they change the date starting from 3PM 25th Nov which was actually starting from 19th Nov. Based on this I had referred since 22nd Nov and so I am not sure whether they will honor the T&C as they promised to you.

      Actually, the main concern is that I don't have the screenshot of the previous T&C. Do you or any one has this, could you please share it here???

      Usually doesn't show up for about a week. At one stage took them 30 days to rebate stuff. ING's systems are infinitely better.

    I had 6 people sign up on the 24th of November..
    I've had an ME Bank rep confirm on their Facebook page that they will honor the original terms.. but I do not expect to see the $300 on the 24th of December as it is ME Bank after all..
