  • can you please Pm me your details for referral i will open one been looking for a new paywave deal thanks

    • Hi stevednj48,

I think you need to edit your settings to allow private messages as I am currently not allowed to start a new conversation with you.

      Thanks

      • i think it should be right now

        thanks

        • +1

It still won't work for me for some reason.

Feel free to PM and I can reply

  • I have been using ME Bank for a number of years. My only concern with them is that their Internet banking is not as stable as the Big 4 - often doing system maintenance of some kind. The plus about ME Bank is that they have low fees. You get what you pay for.

  • Cool, let me know if you need a an ETA number as well :)

OP, do you know if this was a targetted offer? The link seems to have a reference ID

    • +1

I don't think it is targeted. The link was taken directly from an ME Bank Sponsored Post on Facebook.

  • +1

    Thanks for sharing OP!

  • +3

    Add your Referral codes here

OP please add this link to your post https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/me_bank_referrals

    • added, thanks

    • Isn't that extremely dangerous?????

People can figure out the MeBank BSB, and now they have your account number.

You open yourself up to direct debits

      • +1

i dont think so, many companies have their account details visible on their websites.

        • @Jezzzzza: I was just wondering this recently when emailing them a direct credit form to transfer funds to another bank. What's stopping someone else with my account details and knowledge of my balance from transferring the lot to their bank account using a direct credit form? I'm pretty sure they don't even have my signature on file.
Direct credit forms seem to be a pretty big back door for your account, since they don't have any modern authorisation features.

        • @muncan:

They need your full name, DOB and residential address on record before they can process the direct debt form

        • @easternculture: They don't need to know DOB or address. Here's the direct credit form. You can just fax it in…

        • @muncan:

then make sure you dont give out your full name to a random ozbargainer

        • @easternculture: Indeed!
Thankfully I've already left ME Bank ;-)

      • makes sense, luckily I don't keep money in there anymore.

    • Thanks for cleaning up the wiki EC.

      • No probs. Too much personal messages makes the wiki messy.

Please everyone Just your username and referral ID.

Ive put in BOLD at the top for users to pm you if they use your code. Please no personal or bolded messages, lets make it fair to everyone.

  • Awesome.. I think my ING 5% is about to run out too

Are there any catches/conditions like deposit $1000?

    • +1

      No.

  • +1

I'm pretty sure you don't want to show your account number in public… maybe a PM would be a better option.

  • where to enter the account number? oh, promotion code number…

  • I entered my referral code here

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/me_bank_referrals?rev=1416…

and now it has been removed by another user

    Please be nice to others!

    • This link shows the changes.

      • Does it mean Imket has deleted my code?

        • it came up with a message that someone else was editing when i was changing it. I've added you back in but i screwed up the formatting a bit, if someone could fix that

        • okay someone just removed my latest update where i added you back in…..

        • +1

@imket: No idea what is happening..lol

        • +1

@bluecasper: I was able to put my code where it was previously sitting after 30 minute effort :)

  • How long does it take for the SMS to come through with your CID and AC?

edit: doesn't matter it has come through now. It took about 25 minutes.

  • Is there a way to know if my code has been used for Max (10) times?

  • Awesome find!

  • +1

Wow, I only got my account open two days before 19th. First deposit went in on the 18th.

    That was lucky!

  • Where to enter the code ?

    • "When you refer a new EveryDay Transaction Account (ETA) customer, they just need to make sure they provide your ETA account number in the “Additional Information” section – promotion code field."

      • So the code has to be entered by referee or the person who opens the account ?

        • Person who opens the account

  • +1

Thanks for posting OP. Used your referral.

  • how do you unlock the wiki page?

    • You have to wait until this user finishes editing or the lock expires.

      • i have waited, and nothing happens. ah well

  • added mine, but the format went weird and I got added onto the last entry :/

Sorry about that hope someone can fix me up :)

    • All fixed up ;)

      • thanks :)

  • How are you guys updating your referral code in the Wiki Page
I tried couple of times but its always been locked by somebody
Is there a way I can queue?

    • +1

Just gotta be first to click edit once the current person editing has finished afaik.

      • Got it - thanks

    • +1

Click edit, then click back, repeat until it unlocks for you :) I almost fixed mlburnian one since the formatting was out of place. but i forgot to add the second * to bold them. Sorry!

      • Oops, sorry. Does it matter?

  • I have just added my code
    Thanks op

  • How would you know the code was already used 10x?

Will it denied/becomes invalid if it was already used 10x ?

  • Hi thanks for the referral codes, I used imket for myself and Sweet3st for my partner. Didn't know how to pick from the list but you guys made me laugh with your comments! We still need to verify our IDs at post office. But I had a hard time updating the wiki as it's been locked for hours!

  • Thanks for this. I've added my code to the WiKi page.
I hope some people get lucky by getting their $50!

  • +1

Added my account number. Please someone deposit $1million as I need it for repairs to my Bugatti.

  • +3

someone just deleted a lot of ppl's referral codes including mine :(

    • +1

Yeah, mine has been deleted. Not cool. Hope the mods catch the fink who did it.

      • +1

Just the 'comments' police! Why can't we leave comments?

    • I think it's been fixed up now.

  • I'm thinking people should somehow be keeping check on how many referrals have been made by the one account. Once the maximum of 10 has been reached, neither the referrer nor the referee will receive the bonus.

    • neither the referrer nor the referee will receive the bonus

I agree that the referrer will not get more cash once their code has been used 10 times but how did you come to the conclusion that the referee will not get their cash?

All it says for the referee is:

"Open your first EveryDay Transaction Account (ETA) between 19/11/14 - 30/11/14, include the referrer’s ME Bank EveryDay Transaction Account number in the promotional code field and you will receive $50 into your ETA account within 30 days of their account being opened. If you held an EveryDay Transaction Account prior to 19 November 2014 you are ineligible for this offer."

The way I read it, a new customer can use ANY account number from the Wiki and they will get paid. If they don't send the ACCC and FIO 'hound dogs' to bite ME Bank for deceptive and misleading advertising.

  • Robert, I used your code.. Hope it was not maxed out

  • +8

Please PM Referer if you use their code so they know~ as only maximum of 10 referral bonus will be given per account to both Referrer and Referee!

    • +1

Great idea. Should be added to top of referal wiki

    • to both Referrer and Referee

How did you come to the conclusion that the 10 referrals limit also applies with the regard to the Referee getting their money?

      Reference please :)

  • +1

Should not have closed my everyday account

    Should not have

    Should not

    Damnit :p

    • I know right. ugh. haha

    • +1

This is indeed an interesting and potentially 'game changing' marketing strategy employed by ME Bank.

I have always been one of the biggest and loudest advocates of the mantra:
"Once benefit is extracted and account is no longer of use, CLOSE it, even if there is no cost to keep it open"

If more banks start adopting this approach, I might have to revise this advice and am always happy to do so. The modern consumer world is fast paced and constantly changing :). Maybe it will be better to indeed keep 'disposable' accounts open PROVIDED there is no cost in doing so.

Personally, I think this is a very smart strategy by ME Bank and more companies should start employing it (and not just in the financial services sector). It is time companies started rewarding their existing customers and not just constantly be on the hunt for new ones, forcing existing customers to constantly 'churn' in order to get the best deal.

    • Yes, I have closed my account just last week…. Oh well.

  • +4

Please can the person using the code from the Wiki put a count starting from 1 and other using the same code increment it by 1 so no one uses it once it reaches 10..this way it will be fair and others also get a go too…Thanks all!

    • It won't work as the Wiki is publicly available, i.e. anyone can access the wiki without logging in to Ozbargain. Hence, someone might use the referral without having an Ozbargain account in which case they won't be able to update the Wiki.

  • I've just added my code, thanks OP

  • Code added, Thanks.

  • Just Added codes of my account and Partners

    Thanks OP

  • I've just added my code . Thanks

  • I didn't delete anything…

  • @ mattgal

I used one of your codes for an ME card for myself and the other code I used for the wife.

Cheers!!!! hope the $100 comes through for both of us.

Thanks again for the ref codes.

    used approx @ 2pm

  • FYI a number of the referees in the wiki do not allow new PMs, tried 5-6 usernames until I found someone I could message.

  • Thanks OP :)

  • How can I add my referral number into the list?
    Found it :-)

  • +1

Thanks Travis & Up2Date… Have used both your Referral IDs… :)

  • does the new account holder need to deposit money in?

    • +3

have a feeling they may try and update the terms and conditions when they see so many account (1000's) applications on Monday Morning (Something like deposit $1000 and keep for 30 days etc)

Make sure you keep some screen shots of current T&C

  • mebank is about to cop the full force of ozbargain :S

  • I don't know if account numbers are sequential but some account numbers in the referral wiki are higher than the one I opened this morning so maybe some people aren't reading the conditions.

    • choose an earlier number to be sure. the earliest ones seem to start with 013.

0137xxxxx is the lowest number with more than one example.

      • Ahan was close to cutoff so <= theirs should be good if they are sequential

        • I am quite sure account number are sequential as my account number starts with 01399 and my wife account number starts with 014 and her account was opened about a month after me. Both our account are about 2 year old

    • +1

Mine starts with 015 and I've been a member for 4 months.

      • +1

similar for me.. opened 3 months back!

  • So looking at the T & Cs you can't open an account and refer someone and get the bonus can you?

    Has anyone tried?
