  • Thanks OP. Sounds like a great price - but I think it's worth paying a bit extra and going for the Kogan X1510. Anyone else's thoughts?

officeworks already changed their price, so no price matching :( http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/toshiba-satel…

"nimble performance with its Intel Celeron processor" ….that's not my experience with laptop celerons.

    Cheaper at DS http://www.dicksmith.com.au/laptops-notebooks/toshiba-satell…

Now you can price match at OW.

    • It is too.
      No deal HN.

  • Bought it in good guy eBay store over the weekend for $329. Luckily eBay paid for the 20% off which made it a total of $263.20.

  • Read comments from previous thread. 2G ram with no expandable slot (soldering). Good price for a basic laptop and little man Is happy to use it for Lego online games and Maths.

    • Would not wish 2Gb RAM on my worst enemy. 4GB should be min, 8GB is ideal.

I've used my Compaq dual core Pentium laptop for the past 3 years (bought in early 2011), with 2GB RAM running 32-bit Windows 7. Never needed more than this.

      • have you actually used a 2GB pc with Win8? it's quite useable, as Win8 is better at memory/app management compared to Win7, of course the slower cpu means you will be running more basic programs

  • No optical drive

    • for 270…..
can get a usb one if ya need

    • or spend an extra $11 to get the drive with the HP equivalent for $299

Good and bad experiences can be had by anyone with anything at any time.
(Leaving aside eg. click of death type scenarios.)

    • glad you mention this. try to insert a CD today. Where is the eject button?

  • ideal for the folks

  • Looks like a good price but I'm happy with my $89 Pendo Tablet instead :-P
Yeah I know, Tablets vs Laptops but with such cheap tablets even $288 sounds expensive.

  • bwahahah "with nimble performance with its Intel Celeron processor" - great description of Celerons.

    • +2

as nimble as a one legged 80 year old with missing toes .. ;) hehehe

      • Especially the current gen Celeron and Pentium which are based on Intel Atom…

Amazing what re-branding can do to peoples perceptions.

  • 2GB? No thanks.

    Celeron = :-( = computer says no !!

  • got price-matched @ OW. Didn't pay attention so I ended up paying $263.90 instead of $263.15 because the cashier put in the price @ DS as $277.77 instead of $277.00.

By the power not invested in me you are hereby suspended from OzB for one week!

Toshiba Satellites are arguably the worst laptops you can buy. Specs, expandability and reliability are all appalling.

  • Can you put an SSD in this one to improve performance?

    • Yes but I think this model may have soldered-in RAM so not upgradable.
Not 100% but an earlier deal for N2830 Toshibas had this problem

  • Neg revoked. HN are now the cheapest. A win for ozbargainers.
