Is $429 a record low price for LG G3 16GB?

    • +9

      It's certainly a nice price.

I'm a bit torn now, for an extra $70 Kogan have a grey import with 3GB ram, 32GB space and a 1 year 'Australian warranty'.

      • +8

        ^ This

Don't underestimate the 3GB ram effect on the phone performance.

      • +2

Yeah good price too but it's really $105 more with delivery

        • Hate to lose the 1G ram but can't justify for $100

        • +4

@maxhu: You lose a year of warranty too

        • +2

@TRENT86: read online, the extra RAm is Def worth it.

It's the diff between a Laggy phone and a fast phone. It's has a 4k screen it really needs the extra ram.

Just read online between the reviews and forums on between the 2gb and 3gb versions, you will see heaps of issues in the 2gb but barely any on the 3gb

        • -1

@lplau: I say go for it if you want the 3GB Was just saying it's not $70 extra it's $105 and a yr less warranty for those who wouldn't know :)

        • +2

          @lplau:

1440p is not 4k but yes, the 3GB ram really helps.

        • It's a 2 year warranty if you use a BankWest Zero card based on Kogan's "Australian warranty". Kogan do free delivery deals every month, one should be coming up soon.

        • +2

          @jimjenkins: No Need to wait.

Get it from T-Dimension (AU$501 for the 32GB 3GB Version), my experience with their warranty process is ALOT better than Kogan.

          http://www.t-dimension.com/revamp/2010-06-26-2009-01-01-c-14…

Kogan warranty takes upto 1 month to get something fixed. My experience with T-Dimension is around 1 week to get something fixed. When something is wrong, just take a video of the issue then upload to Youtube then email the link to them, they will then give you a Fedex account for you to mail it back to them for free. Then you will get a new phone sent to you.

End to end is around 1-1.5week to get something fixed.

I stopped buying from Kogan after finding out how atrocious their warranty is. T-Dimension being a full HK store (doesn't pretend to be Australian like Kogan), does ALOT better service. I recommend people to start boycotting Kogan.

    Are they locked to VF?

    • I think nowadays only iPhones are locked

      • Iphones are locked with fee on prepaid.

Telstra postpaid ones are unlocked. Voda and Optus postpaid are locked but free to unlock!

      • Why I am not surprised!

      • +1

Go to Apple Store, They will sell you handset unlocked.

    • +1

They say VF but they aren't locked, they just have 1 or 2 voda apps. I bought a 'voda' z2 and it had 1 voda app on it

      • Yeah they were all in the unlocked section bar the m8 so shouldn't be locked

    • +1

      I think the question is

      http://i.imgur.com/zI0F9aG.png

These phones are most likely excess contract phones, so there is a chance that they are unlocked. But……. if you wait, they will probably get ozbargained in no time flat….

      So how do you feel?

  • Sigh, didn't realise the M7 only have Snapdragon 600……

    • The M7 is heading towards 2 years old, you'll find the flagship phones of its generation with the s600. The s800 wasn't available till later in the year, the nexus 4 that came out just before it use an s4 pro. So yeah the HTC M7 is getting old now.

      • +4

Been using one for a year, only problem is battery life. Never had an issue with performance no matter what I have done, so not sure why anyone would be splitting hairs over the processor

        • Surely it at least gets you through a day? How many hours of SoT do you get?

        • You tried custom rom and kernel?

        • I'm not saying anything negative about the performance, just pointing out it had the best available soc at the time. Nothing wrong with the performance as far as I could tell, and it'll even be getting Lollipop, so the hardware still is fairing quite well. And HTC should be given props for supporting the phone for at least 2 years. On battery life, the One M7 was a huge improvement over my gnex. Of coarse there's better options available now, but yeah phones are starting to get bigger batteries.

        • @leonheart1: depends on the day, work day yes, weekend or if I head out after work I could be struggling

        • @chriaj2689: no, it's a work phone so haven't wanted to stuff around with it. Would if it was mine.

  • +1

Why does the M7 on the second pic look so different? Http://www.dicksmith.com.au/unlocked-mobile-phones/htc-one-m…

There are 3 capacitive buttons, the back logo of the beats by dre is hugeee, no stereo speakers on the front? Whattt?

  • Flash the M7 with a generic Android ROM and you've got a hell of a bargain.
Have one myself and it's magnificent, much better than the work iPhone - so much that I gave back the iPhone and had them set up the M7.

    • +1

Don't know why flashing a ROM is needed, I find Sense much better and faster than Vanilla android.

      • +13

Sense faster than Vanilla? First I've ever heard somebody claim that a skinned android is faster than stock.

I don't get why people like stock so much however. I flashed a few of my devices to stock Android and found it severely lacking in terms of features and 'polish' — that's when I figured out many modding communities usually take CM as the base and then add enhancements to it and come up with Mahdi, Paranoid Android etc. which IMO is much better than pure vanilla.

        • I think faster wasn't the right word, but every time I use vanilla Android I need to go into developer settings to make animation speed .5x if that makes any sense to you.

        • +1

You can access the Dev Settings on any device and on any Jelly bean/Kit Kat device regardless of ROM. It is usually a hidden menu and you need to tap Build Number about 10 times to access it.

        • +1

Yeah, I didn't say I couldn't get Dev settings though.
I was just saying changing animation speed isn't needed for me when I use devices with new versions of Sense.

        • +2

          @clse945111:

I prefer sense over vanilla too.

  • +5

lol. if it was a G3 32GB i would have snapped it up straight away.

There is too many issues in regards to laggy and slowness on the 16GB version.

  • +1

    Can bagman unlock these phones?

    • -1

Whoever negged me, it was a genuine question. I'm interested in the phone if it can be unlocked..
      I wasn't taking a shot at bagman..

      • +4

        Yeah I noticed that so I +1

        • -1

          Thanks mate :-)

        • -5

          you the real mpv

      • +1

I doubt they are locked anyway.

      • I think bagman only unlocks Telstra locked phones, but send him a message and check.

        • He has unlocked Vodafone 3g Pocket Wifi for me before

  • M7's are awesome phones, that's a killer price!

  • +1

All these phones can be unlocked for free.

    vodafone.com.au/unlock

    • +1

not always. some vodafone phones have an unlocking fee

      • +1

The only phones with a unlocking fee now are their pre-paid outright phones.

All contract phones are free to unlock

        • so these ones will have an unlocking fee?

    • whats the most anyone has paid to unlock a phone through the vodafone unlock website?

    • Vodafone doesn't lock their phones any more anyways

  • +1

I think I just bought the last one from Northland VIC

    • Last which?

  • +4

Thanks for pointing this out. I ordered a g3 from the good guys with that 20% discount on ebay. They still have not delivered and have no idea when it will arrive. Just ordered one from this deal tonight. If I get this one first, I'll tell TGG not to bother and just give me a refund, after all, they lied on their ebay listing as they stated it was "in stock".

  • in this case LG G3 for sure better than M8

  • Are they online only or can you purchase instore?

    • Price is online only. Store price will be normal price and they will not be able to price match.

  • +1

Tossing up between the M8 and the oneplus, any advice as to which to choose?

    • +1

i have hte m8 its a fantastic phone only thing that bothers me is the camera is quite poop

      • +1

Thanks, the camera is a big thing for me. I'm using an iphone 5 now after my nexus5 died and I miss it's camera

  • My local stores do not have any unfortunately might have to order online.

Looking for this for my dad - the M7 is a great price at $299.

So, can anyone confirm that it is unlocked?

    Cheers.

    • The link to M7 has "…unlocked-mobile-phones/htc-one-m7-smartphone-unlocked-dsau…, so the common sense is that it is unlocked?

      • Yep, the M8 Is the only one in the pre paid section

        • Which appears to be a mistake, the M8 is definitely unlocked

        • @LlamaLlamaLamp: How do you know for sure ? Are you like 110% sure>?:)

  • Worth replacing my nexus 4 for the htc one m7?

    • Yes if you want 4G and better aesthetics. Performance wise wont be much different.

      • should i replace my nexus 5 with a m7 or m8? i'm into my music.

        • +1

          M8. M7 would be behind the N5.

  • Surprised there aren't more positive votes. The M8 is the cheapest price I've seen not to mention it's also local stock. If the phone comes unlocked I'll be extremely satisfied.

If your HTC phone (I'm sure he can do any other phone) is locked bagman may be able to unlock for $5: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/108145

  • Is it the: M8 GOOGLE PLAY Edition?

    There is a difference!

    Nope it aint:

    http://www.cnet.com/products/htc-one-m8-google-play-edition/…

    • +2

You'll be hard pressed finding the google play edition as it isn't sold in Australia and I don't think there's a grey stock version.

      • And the GPE doesn't support aussie frequencies. I have flashed my m8 with gpe rom and reflashed telstra radio, it's the best phone I've owned. Camera is pretty bad though

        • The camera is ok in low light, but crap for anything else.

  • HTC One M7 spec looks good except front and rear camera. If cameras are not important, then cool phone.

  • Will these be available on Monday for the 10% ebay click and collect deal?
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/174177

    • +2

Doubt they will have stock by then, they only have 1 of these on their ebay site anyway- the Htc one M7 and still $598

      • Also they may put price higher :)

  • -1

I tried to buy HTC M7 through the DSE ebay since you get 10% discount at the moment. It turns out that DSE is selling an exactly same phone for $598. What a rip off.

    • The 10% off starts Monday

      • +1

I have checked T&C again and yes indeed the 10% discount starts from Monday. i highly doubt they will bring down the price to $299 though.

  • +1

=( The G3 is out of stock

      • +1

I've added one to cart with one from a store with click and collect howeve the checkout button won't show….

      • selected for pick up already, did choose the one that is currently in stock. However, still unable to checkout. not possible to make payment. tried many times.=(

        • So far I see fountain gate Mel, Innaloo and Perth city in WA

        • +1

          @TRENT86:
yeah i selected fountain gate already, but no payment option are available at the end.

        • +1

@adamchan: Unlucky, I'd call the store just to make sure
