          @JetBombat:
I did it multiple times over the space of a month… score didnt change in that time.

Requested (via Veda website) a copy of my full credit file.. and 2 weeks later they emailed it to me.
Now I cannot get my score for free any more :( until a year has past as getting the full report triggered that once a year period.

  • How does this compare to the cbank diamand card with Amex?
ATM I get back around 2% on rewards of what I spend but I pay 69$ yearly fee.

  • Well, I got an excellent rating, but im $10k short…..oh well, no credit for me.

    • +2

What is your guess at what gave you the excellent rating? Do you have any/many CC's. I have a very good financial track record, never been late with a payment on anything, own my own home (no mortagage), etc etc. but I only got an'average' rating. But "The computer said NO!"

  • Best cc hands down with no yearly fee. Keep getting $500-$1000 visa gifts cards from them each year.

    • How much do you spend a year if you don't mind me asking?

      • +2

you'd need to put through around 50-60K a year, $500 Visa prepaid cards need about 90K points.

      • about 50-60K average per yer although had it blow out to over 120k because of my wedding. This is for 2 signature credit cards between my wife & I (2nd card is free) under the same account.

        • +1

Right, I thought you were using it for work expenses or something, that's a lot to be spending, big spender!

        • I did calculations between citibank rewards and qantas frequent flyer gift cards and I thought (it's been a while) that qantas came out ahead, and so I picked QFF.

Has anyone else compared the value between the two schemes?

  • Do many people pay the fee to have the points allocated to their QFF instead of the Citibank Rewards program?

I currently have all my points going towards the CB program but wondered whether it was worth having them towards to QFF instead.

    • I have this card from the last promotion and have the points allocated to their QFF programme for an annual fee of $49 per year.

      It offers better value:

      1. There is no monthly points capping (Westpac Earth Platinum has one)
      2. The earn rate is great at 1 QFF per $1 spent locally (versus some of the other cards out there which have a lower earn rate per $ spent) and
      3. Visa is accepted in more places versus the AMEX QFF cards which are not accepted in some places or have a higher surcharge.
  • Nope 15K to Virgin….now have access to convert to SQ from VFF!

  • hmmmmm..

Couldn't submit my application at the end, so I saved it.

Now, can't locate where to complete a saved application.

Citibank Chat estimated wait time is 50minutes!

      • Thanks Seisei

I received an email about 10mins after I saved and exited, so I have been able to submit the application (which has now been approved this morning), it must have been a website error, or Citibank doesn't like FireFox.

  • how do i check veda score, the veda website shows me all these expensive plans… is there any cheaper or free way to check it?

    • +4

      getcreditscore.com.au

      • This website rated me "good", whereas going through Citibank's embedded version rated me "average" :(

    • thanks guys

    • thanks guys

  • They called and offered me a 'cheque to self' for unused part of my credit limit for 6 months.
I turned it down, but in retrospect should have taken the cash, stuck it into Ubank Ultra @4.02% and paid it back after 6 months.
Wonder if they are still doing this?

    • Yes ;)

  • +1

MMm failed check all the time, however when I use a website such as "checkmycreditrating.com" it shows up.

  • If you want to check your credit score without going through all the fuss of calling Veda or Citibank, try this website: https://www.getcreditscore.com.au/

Gives you your score (apparently without impacting the numbers by making an 'official' inquiry) in a matter of seconds and will help you get a sense of whether you're able to apply for the card.

    • dafaq.. i got a score of 489 (which is in the worst category 'below average').. never had any problem with credit.. always had money in savings.. maybe all those credit card deals did do some damage..

      • +1

Mine dropped into 'average' a few months ago after signing up for a bunch of CC deals. It's back in the good bracket now, so it's definitely not permanent (assuming you pay off the balance each month and do all the other things that CC companies like)

        • +1

          I got Good! lol

    • +2

Tried that, i don't match any details in their system. Do i even exist? Is this all just a dream? Would have thought i would have a credit rating since i have a mortgage and a credit card.

    • +1

Is it safe to share information with them? The website says it sends data to Veda and it will contact us. Not that comfortable to give sensitive information. Veda used to have a free report as well.

      • +1

Getcreditscore.com.au? They're backed by SocietyOne - P2P lender, bound by APRA etc. Interestingly, there's no data sharing between SocietyOne and getcreditscore. They're on completely discrete platforms. i.e. They're legit.

        • +1

          Thanks.

  • what about fee on international transactions?
I believe 28 degrees doesnt have that.

    • Get their Citi Debit card once this is set up for Free!
Signature card is More points for international but also HIGH fees :(

      • Don't think you get points for debit card - do you mean Plus Accoutn - but good for overseas transactions like 28 degrees.

        • That is correct …no points Citi debit card and now preferred overseas for ATM withdrawal!

    • +1

Good point. Don't use Citibank for international purchases, their rates are terrible.
Best to keep 28 degrees or similar (no int'l fees) card for all US$ and other O/S transactions.

      • As I earn 4 bonus points per International transaction I can handle 3.3% international fee (of course I would prefer an 0% one), though I factor that in when purchasing overseas. YMMV.

  • They cant give me a Veda score..

  • I have this card from the family and friends offer. Good card for a backup card, being free for life but you're much better off cycling through the rotations of other free card offers (e.g. ANZ first year free, NAB first year free) and claiming additional benefits such as frequent flyer bonuses.

Also, they have HORRIBLE customer service. I've often considered cancelling this card because of their constant hassling.

    • +1

Agree. Get a call from them every month or so at the most inconvenient times trying to sell me income protection, life insurance, balance transfers… If you don't pick up they just call you back later. The only way to get rid of them is to listen to their offer, decline politely and assertively, then hang up.

      • I never got the income protection spiel, but they did try to sell life insurance. I just thanked them for telling me about the offer, told them politely and clearly that I already have coverage through my super fund, and that while I'm sure their product provides more comprehensive coverage it's not a priority for me at my current life stage. They never called me about it again, so luckily I didn't have the same experience with hassling.

As I saw it, they're giving me a great card for free so I can sit through a couple minute sales pitch :-)

        • +4

It's basically sitting through a timeshare presentation for a free Las Vegas buffet, but with less regret and food poisoning.

  • has any citigold clients with 200k + try the pre approval application form that does not need any proof of income?

  • +2

Got this card recently through a professional membership…

    Free for life
    0% 6 month balance transfer
    60,000 points on sign-up

    What a deal

    • +1

Hmmm how did you get 60k points?
I recall something like this recently online but a google search proves me wrong

      • I received an ad for free for life and 0% balance transfer (received through the professional society) - I imagine many professional groups would have this promotion going.

The Signature card is giving away 60k points at the moment, and the link I was given just redirects to their existing application form and specifically notes the free points (although I imagine there must be embedded data to tell them when I got the link from so I get the free for life etc.).

So I ended up getting the 60k points as well in my account (gets me a $325 visa gift card). I think this is a mistake but hey I'm not complaining.

        • +3

Yeah but the one with 60k points has a $299 annual fee.
          This is what I found - http://www.citibank.com.au/aus/credit_cards/cards_signature.…

        • @ezza:

Sign up, get the points, then call Citi bank back and get on the fee free for life like existing Citi card holder have done in the past. Win win :)

        • @Spizz:
          @ezza:

To update everyone, it seems like they screwed up and gave me the 60k points, then charged me $199 annual fee.

Called up to complain, now I have no annual fee for life AND they didn't touch my points :)

2 thumbs up for Citibank, the process was painless.

I do not understand the NEG for sharing my experiences!! Really people should grow up and learn to take the bad with the good..And no, I do not work for any other bank. rather, I am a health professional, who can easily get approved for credit anywhere. However, the fact was that after sending in all required paperwork and arranging for references to be contacted, the credit card was denied without any apparent reason!! this was after having been provisionally approved for it. And the other charges I am referring to are my experiences with Citibank in other parts of the world including Asia and North America!!

    • +1

      Epic rage..

    • The reality is, all banks are crooks. All you can do is take advantage of offers like this if and when you can. Do not waste your time looking for a trustworthy bank who will always treat you well - there is no such thing. And try not to get frustrated - it gets easier once you accept it :)

    • I do not understand the NEG for sharing my experiences!!

JV was looking for someone to fill in for him over the Christmas break.

I thought all OZbargainers earn way more than $75000/year, like whirlpool members!

      • +2

a vast percentage of the population i would say

      • +1

        reality check?

      • Mmm I love scorn I can taste

      • Show off …. ;)

      • r u being sarcastic or just plain to*l?

      • The average Australian ;)

  • +4

I can generate a score from the https://www.getcreditscore.com.au/ site but still can't with the Citibank site…I WANT THIS CARD!

    • Same. Not sure what to do haha

Edit: Someone suggested to switch to Australian IP address if you are on a US IP address (my case).

      • How you switch your IP?

We all got Australian IP address. Assuming we are right now going through an Australian ISP

        • work routes me through US IP address. Just tried it on my mobile, still no report for me. Looks like IP add has nothing to do with it.

        • @dasher22:
Called them up and they told me to call Veda to sort it out, otherwise the deal will not go ahead…No very helpful or informative, but I guess its not really up to them, it all depends on the Veda score. So i just signed up for a FREE credit report with Veda which will take 10days max (if they can prove who i am) Hopefully once this free report is emailed to me I will then have a standing with Veda and be able to proceed with the application.

I hope this card is all its cracked up to be, because i've been looking for a no fee rewards card and this might just be it :)

        • @tight455: Yep I did the same yesterday. Hopefully that comes through before this deal expires.

        • @tight455:

I got my free credit report yesterday but still had to go in store to resolve it since neither company was helpful on the phone.

        • @natslovR: Well deal is due to expire Feb 2015. So i hope we are safe.

But that doesn't sound good natslovR….So even after the credit report still didn't work?

Crap. I better prepare a planned visit to their offices then aye.

  • I'm tempted to apply.. I have a 'good' credit history according to my Veda membership.
I've applied for credit around 4 months ago with ANZ and got it.
My only issue is I'm apply for a home loan in the coming months and don't want the score to drop.
But I must say this offer is impressive compared to our bigger banks who give similar points but with AMEX cards and some merchants don't want AMEX cards hmmm.
    Any advice?

    • +2

Given your plans for a home loan, is it worth the risk? This card will provide a few hundred dollars a year in savings/rewards/benefits. A good home loan will save tens of thousands over the life of the loan (compared to an average one). My 2c.

    • +1

The bank will want details of all your credit cards and those totals, more than anything else, will affect your borrowing capacity … even if, you're paying them off every month.

If you're looking to stretch yourself on the amount you want to borrow, i'd hold off until afterwards.

      • thanks guys really appreciate your advice… think i might hold off true!

  • Tell em that your going to balance transfer your ANZ card balance over if they accept your application.
Dump the ANz card after the Citi goes through!

    • I know i'll get approved thats besides the point.. more worried about Veda scoring

  • Go for it - use the cheque to self to temporarily pay off some of home loan

  • +2

This is a good deal for sure. However CITIBANK internet banking is not very good in that it does not display pending transactions in time. This makes it hard to reconcile your spending and also leave the hazard of illegitimate use of your card transactions not caught in time.

CITIBANK's customer service team is excellent.

    • Totally agree with that. Their HelpDesk is pretty good. Though transactions sometimes takes 5 days to appear. (3 minimum).
I had a NAB card earlier and they used to show it next day. I don't like Citi's internet banking.

  • im on 100+k with good credit however I dont like chances. they barely gave me 1.8k on a citibank reward card lol…

    • SHeesh $1.8k credit limit on a 'good' veda rating?

      thats a joke?!?

      • yeah they are hopeless; anz offered me 10k and nab 20k . however declined their offers as I don't want too much credit

        "
        Status
        Under Review
        "

        sigh

    • +3

You make too much mate, no chance to charge late fees and interest

  • Citibank declined my last application because they said I applied for another Citibank credit card within a 6 months period. So just watch out for those in the same boat. Might help by waiting until your 6 months are up since last application seeing the deal goes to end of Feb 2015.

Has anyone had any luck getting a platinum card upgraded to signature free for life?

    • I'm wondering about this as well. Terms and conditions mention new credit customers only but I was thinking of giving them a call later today.

    • I just called then, they said they can't upgrading existing cards (I have the Platinum) to Signature on this deal. The only thing they could offer was upgrading to Signature with the full annual fee. CSO said the only way I could get this offer would be to apply for a new card.

      • +2

Don't stop there. Call up a few more reps. Eventually someone will do it. Took me 3 attempts last time to get someone agree to doing an upgrade to the fee free.

    • Worked for a couple of people I know just by calling up a rep. But only worked for them because they had an existing credit limit of $10000 to $15000.

Did not work for me because I only had a $5000 credit limit. Citibank can only do credit limit increase of max 50% every 6 months subject to income checks. So won't work unless you have a minimum of $10000 credit limit on your Platinum fee free for life because the Visa Signature has a min requirement of $15000 credit limit. You might be better off attempting a new signature application and say you'll cancel the platinum after that. Hope no one makes the same mistakes like I did.

Mind you, this is what one rep told me when I missed out on the last promotion. Rules may have changed…. but I doubt it.

    • Nope :(

They refused to upgrade me although my platinum's credit limit is only a few hundred below min credit requirement for signature. Ended up cancel platinum and re-apply signature, then got it.

    • Has anyone had success upgrading to a signature from a free for life platinum? I was given the platinum one when the offer was on last year.Limit is $12000 and they didn't increase my limit when they mailed me an increase offer a couple of months back.

    • yep just increase your limit to 15k then call them up. or apply for this offer and if they give you a big limit ask to transfer part of it over to your platinum card then upgrade it to this offer thus then you'll have two signatures like i did. btw i got 60k points too through a special email offer back in june from RM. btw there's still 50k qantas sign points for citigold clients which ends 31 dec. however the when i tried to apply for a second round of priority passes they declined saying im already a member. maybe i should have signed up for the lounge pass using a different email and address and tel numbers?

    • Unable to upgrade as well.

Asked them to escalate to upper management who was unable to proceed with the upgrade. Has to do with the terms and conditions they have with Veda.

Put through another application and waiting approval.

  • the 0% for balance transfer is pretty awesome. applied! how long does it usually take for approval?

  • Free for the life of the card (3years). I got one and paid $49 for Qantas program. Only weakness is the Citibank website for online banking compared to others (eg CBA)

    • why only 3year?

      • because the expiry date on the card is 2017

        • +2

'Life of the card' does not mean the life of that particular plastic card, it means for the life of the time your are on that account credit card deal.

        • -2

@jaybmate: I bet when they renew the card , they will charge you the fee. Also I bet it will be waived if requested.
