Those that didn't manage to get one in QLD, the Good Guys Store in Oxley are happy to take your name and a deposit and order the tv in for you at the same price.

    • Yeah lutwyche store offered to do the same, same can't be said for carseldine. Service there was pretty ordinary

  • I got two from Essenden DFO early in the morning. One for myself and one for my friend.

  • My local Aldi has their Bauhn 50" for $300 in their "biggest ever sale". I think it's a "dumb" tv but it may be at all Aldi stores…

  • Vic is completely out of stock now

Can anyone give me their experience so far with the TV?

    • just bought this morning. and tried screen mirroring with my galaxy s5 always failed …
      i dont know why …

  • Mornington Store was out of stock but the sales guy said no problem. Sold it to me at $498 + $120 for 4 yrs extra warranty and put it on back order. Will be a couple of days before delivery. Sales guy said deal ends Sunday close of business.

    • Good to hear that they are back ordering. Hoping my store will be happy to do the same when they open tomorrow but get sold out. I have already purchased through ebay.

      • Received email confirmation from the local store that the TV is ready for pickup. For now the purchase through ebay looks promising. Thanks OP and zelda707 for the ebay hint.

  • I picked up one at 3.30pm at Brighton. They had around 8-10 left at that stage. They're probably all gone now but anyone within half an hour of Brighton should give them a call tomorrow morning. The guy that carried it to my car said they will probably get more stock next week.

Just plugged it in and was initially disappointed with the image quality compared to my 4 year old 40 inch Bravia. Fiddled around with it and got the image quality acceptable, but text still isn't as clear as my older smaller Bravia. I'm sure the quality is there, I've just got to play with the settings. That said, A Sony 48 incher for $500; the value is incredible!

Just spoke to the Vic Stores - Frankston, Cranbourne, Brighton & Dandenong - All sold out

    • Nundawading/Thomastown and Preston (Northland) store are sold out. Preston offered the order one in thing so try calling them if you want.

    • Darn, Brighton had more stock than any other store at 3.30pm yesterday. A team member at Brighton said they're getting more stock next week.

Just picked one up, for those of you going to Mile End, SA there's not that many left (they sold 35 units as of 9:10am).

  • bought one yesterday. Great tv for the price. Was tossing up between the w700 and this. Glad I went with this one as I don't game on it .

    • This is better for gaming than the 50" 700B since the 700B introduces input lag.

  • I can confirm the good folk at the Mornington store are running a backorder list - just jumped on it. They take your details and will provide you next week with an ETA on the TV. The rep noted it could be up to a month and you did have the option to 'opt out' if you weren't happy with the wait.

I use a wifi streaming device(connected via HDMI) to stream indian channels for my mum. its works fine with my samsung TV but for some reason this device remote is not working with this new sony TV. remote can only turn on and turn off the device but not able to do anything else. Have played a lot with settings and tried googling this but cant figure this out. Can anyone help?

    • Hi lokesh7,

Sorry, tried to look for ways to fix it couldn't find any.

        • @BobbyJ: Thanks for trying mate. I will figure something out

Could it have something to do with the HDMI cec?

      • Could be. I would look it up

    • Not for sa though :/

  • 2 display models left @ blacktown, no discount

  • Just got back from buying the $498 TV and didn't notice $100 Voucher When Spend $500+.

  • Any antenna recommonded?

  • Gepps x out of stock but will back order. Got mine on order today.

    • Do you think it will come through? I also back ordered (on the 28th)

  • Alexandria store had around 3 left on the floor at 9:05AM.

  • Has anyone figured out how to get abc iview and sbs ondemand on this?

    • Already part of the apps on the TV.

      • You mean My Apps? nope its not there, think it may have something to do with SEN being down?

        • SEN was up when you posted that comment, don't think it has anything to do with that.

        • @BobbyJ:

figured it out, initially when it connected to SEN it must not have recognised my ip address as being Australian. i did a factory reset then rebooted the router to force it to take a new ip address and then abc iview, sbs on demand showed up.

        • @Yowiefied:
Oh cool. Glad you fixed it up.

  • I picked one up this morning from Castle Hills. I was there at 8 when the shop opened. There were already like 50-60 people standing in queue. By the time I was at the TV section, there was only 5 left. Which also disappeared in a few seconds. They had a decent stock, must be around 30.

  • Anyone figured out how to edit channel numbers or sort channels in this TV? Wifey wants to keep the channel she likes together. This was quite easy in samsung but can't figure it out with this TV

    • +1

      It's in the settings somewhere.
Saw it last night while playing around with it.

  • How can we use a wireless keyboard and mouse on this tv. I tried it says USB device not recognized

  • Was just getting videopro interested in a price match, and GG pull the ad :(

  • Anyone bought TGG extended warranty for this?

    • For a $500 item I didn't bother.

Also you can make Consumer Law work for you if you understand it properly.

      • Thanks, I've heard under the new ACL you can still take it back after 12months if it has a defect/failure, hope TGG will honour!

Working at a big retailer that has to exercise this policy daily for items price in the $0.5k-4k range, It is really a grey area as it just states your rights to a working goods for a reasonable amount of time.

Bit of common sense and subjectivity will apply, but I feel somewhere starting in the $400-$500 range begins to warrant more than 1 year of use to be considered reasonable.

Where i'm at money is a non-issue and just comes down to making customers happy, pretty much everywhere else will not exercise such lenience and will require prodding first by means of contacting the ACCC etc; at the end of the day if your case is fair you'll pretty much always get your way.

        • @ptenkae:
Where is it you work at ?
Sounds like the type of company I like to support with my business :)

Also to clarify for anyone considering wall mounting:

This TV uses VESA 200x300mm mounting holes so yes you can use just about any full sized (double wall stud) wall mount.

I looked for single stud mounts by they all had a maximum of VESA 200x200mm so i went for this one:

  • Anyone here can recommend good value for money wireless sub woofers for this TV?

  • For anyone who backordered it, have they received any further updates?

    • not yet, been told it would take 2 weeks.

      • Got a call on Thursday and TV was delivered today, Preston VIC

    • Got a call to pick mine up today. Lutwyche store Brisbane

    • nothin here, shepparton (vic)

      • nevermind, I got called in to pick up the TV today. Happy

    • So gave the store (Northland) a call. The guy said sony hasn't open up yet cause of Christmas. Weird stuff. Out of curiosity I checked TGG website and the TV is listed again with stock in a few stores.

      STRANGE :S

      • Oh awkward. Got a phone call 40 mins later. hah

  • Does anyone have screen shot for sale price? I neeed it for price claim

  • Screen mirroring is not working using my LG G2.
The phone detects my TV but it just loops there saying "Connecting …."
