Arrrr i'll get me a pirate ship …just in time for Pirates Day !

    • +1

Best promo from Woolworths yet. I want one too.

    • +4

Bugga that, I want a cruise liner!

      • +4

They have limited stock on the 2015 USS destroyer and Starship Enterprise

        • The Enterprise………. a replicator and holodeck has got to be every Ozbargainer's wildest fantasy. Not to mention the petrol you'd save with the transporter.

    • +1

Sorry everyone, the ships on offer are made of potato.

  • +2

I remember when I travelled the usa in 2007 I saw everyone using coupons and codes to pay less for EVERYTHING - museums, theme parks, shopping, coffee. At the time I was thankful Australia wasn't like that. Wtf is with so many codes on specific limited products. Woollies is annoying.

    • That's right, coupons for just about everything over there! I've saved $$$$$ over the years.

    • +4

I think it's getting out of hand.
KFC is an excellent example. If you don't have a coupon you know you're paying way too much, as I don't get their coupons I avoid them. There is a point where the marketing begins to have the opposite effect and the incentive becomes a disincentive.

      • I was actually just thinking about KFC and their vouchers today. I haven't had KFC for over a year, and it's because I just don't find their menu prices reasonable. I wish they'd offer a 2 for 1 burger voucher or something, similar to Hungry Jacks's.

      • I thought you can just ask for what ever the current offer is if you know it. Don't need to present the coupon.

I have looked through shopadocket site before heading into KFC for lunch before and just asked for what ever. It is only when the operator is not familiar with what I am after I show them the offer on my phone.

        • My KFC will only accept originals, they would rather let a customer walk out than give them the same offer they use to get people in. There is no common sense in that. Tried the phone thing.

        • @tonka:

My KFC will only accept originals,

          Name and shame.

It's actually an important marketing strategy (doesn't make it any less annoying). The point is that you get to offer two different prices, one to the time-poor, cash-rich people who can't be bothered searching for a voucher and one for the more thrifty people who will take the time to search for a voucher and hence get a better price. It's a win/win for the store as either way they are making money, they just get even more profit margin from the people who don't care to search for a voucher. With that said, it's very annoying for the consumer who is time-poor and thrifty (like me) :)

        • +2

Correct! It's a two-tiered price discrimination strategy which takes more welfare for the supplier at the expense of consumers.

McDonalds have implemented a similar (and less annoying) strategy with their graphically frugal Loose Change Menu versus their big sexy product placement photographs of $10+ Angus meals.

Same thing with the homebrands at supermarkets. Fools and their money are soon parted — Capitalism at work.

        • Understand the concept, it let's a retailer have multiple price points and is clever in that.

But poor marketing can do the opposite. KFC markets poorly to me and everyone on my street as we are thrifty but have no access to their coupons, so we are excluded as customers, HJ is the same. The Red Rooster across the road takes a different approach, they advertise specials but don't put them on their menu board so no coupon needed you just ask for what you want.

Could you please put up the barcodes as well?

Just spoke to Woolworths EDR guy and apparently the voucher books were not sent to everyone, just to a randomly selected few. :-( I was not one of the chosen ones!

Codes from here appear to work though so that is good news. :-)

        • thank you :)

  • +1

Sorry guys, when you quote the barcodes does this mean i can go instore and flash the barcode and i can these offers?

    • If you create your own barcode maybe…

      • Go here enter the code and you have your barcode

        http://www.barcoding.com/upc/

        • +1

Any idea which barcode symbology Woolworths use?

        • @sween64: The one this links to looks like the right one.

Although I tried a legitimate coupon today, and it accepted it but gave no discount. But the account I used did have a $10 off voucher so maybe that stopped the coupon from working. Guess we'll hear about other successes or failures soon.

What's funny is that im more of a coles loyal customer, The fact I also have a woolies reward card and still don't know what can the points be used for? Isn't it the same as flybuys? Don't understand the quantas points what it's and its purpose.

    • +1

DEvok have a look at everydayrewards.com.au for more info. If you don't have one already, sign up for a Qantas Frequent Flyer account which you can do for free and then link it to your Everyday Rewards account. If you do that then any points you earn at Woolies and partners will be converted to Qantas FF points which you can then spend in the Qantas online store i.e gift cards etc. Or there's another option you can choose called Auto Rewards where the system will automatically redeem your points every 3 months and send you out a Woolies gift card in the mail providing you have enough points to do so of course. Hope that helps.

  • Arent these targeted offer ? I have these too and one of the conditions is must be use with my ERC

    • Yes that's right. However tried on several account, works with any edr…unless they block . Then it's really targeted
